Stand firm! I think the names sound wonderful.

moljam · 28/12/2007 21:06

i think its lovely.your baby not theres, youre the one that will be yelling it in 14 years time to get him out of bed not them.

SpookyMadMummy · 28/12/2007 21:17

Your choice in names IMO.
I think they are fab names. My dd's have traditional names too.

Blu · 28/12/2007 21:18

Well if you will discuss names with people before the child is born, this is what happens

Bluenosesaint · 28/12/2007 21:28

Well i think its a FABULOUS name! Gorgeous!

...and even if i didn't - tough - nowt to do with anyone else!

Heated · 28/12/2007 21:34

Lovely name!

We haven't yet chosen a name that ILs initially liked, which is a mark of our good taste!

finallypregnant · 28/12/2007 21:37

I don't really like the name but if it is what you guys really like then it is your decision. I agree with a post a few above. Stand firm with them!

Great name

I agree with people who've said that you shouldn't discuss your name choices with anyone.

WendyWeber · 29/12/2007 00:09

The names are lovely Peachy, but you know I've told you before you mustn't have an identical set of initials for 2 children of the same sex! Esp as you have another S as well. They will fight over letters later.

Could he be George Sebastian instead?

Flibbertinseljinglebells · 29/12/2007 00:15

We never discussed names with anyone before boys were born and then announced the birth with his name. Didn't know what we were having each time either so everyone got all the information as one big exciting piece of information.
But Sebastian was on our list for ds2 so its a good choice imo!

shimmy · 29/12/2007 00:22

just please don't do what we did - change your chosen name to keep them happy.

We decided not to name ds2 a more unusual name appropriate for both dh's and my cultures as my parents hated it. Instead ds2 ended up with one of the pleasant and safe top baby names of the year and now there are 2 other boys the same name in his class.

Nothing wrong with having a popular name but I regret every day not calling him the name that would have suited him and us so much better.

Elizabetth · 29/12/2007 00:26

Another vote for Sebastian. It really is a lovely name as is your surname.

Twinklemegan · 29/12/2007 00:27

I love the name you've chosen. We told nobody the names we had chosen, partly out of superstition and partly to avoid this kind of thing.

AussieSim · 29/12/2007 02:42

As My DS1 is Sebastian and our last name is also v similar to yours I would have to say - GREAT CHOICE Who cares what they think? It will grow on them. My SIL called her little girl Flavia which we thought was foul - but of course didn't say anything and it grew on us! If I have DS3 it will be called Felix and my Step Mum has said she hates it (to my sister) and I really couldn't care less. The only worrying association that I know of for Sebastian is the guys out of Little Britain - but that show only appears to a narrow section of the population anyway ... Oh and there is a crayfish is the Little Mermaid I think.

OverRated · 29/12/2007 03:38

Its lovely

ninedragons · 29/12/2007 03:52

An excellent choice. I did click on this thinking hmm, how should I put it diplomatically if it's a hideous name and the GPs are right? but they're wrong so go for it!

My top choice will definitely be roundly hated by my FIL, who is a loud-mouthed bumpkin, which I have to admit makes me like it even more. Just got to keep working on my husband, who is a little cool on the idea....

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 05:05

both your names are gorgeous. I second what many people have said, Sebastian Peach has heartbreaker written all over him!
Sounds like a name out of a novel. You are blessed to have such a wonderful surname!
go for it!!
Seb Peach rocks!

buzzybee · 29/12/2007 07:42

Ever since I told my SIL a possible name for this LO (who is now OVERDUE ) and she dissed it I have been determined not to tell anyone else. I just use the Price Ed line - "how can you name a child before you meet it?" and most people seem to accept that. Some can be quite pushy tho!!!

Mumblesmummy · 29/12/2007 10:54

I doubt my family particularly like the name I've chosen but they've said they do, which is nice. My MIL doesn't like the name and so she keeps making suggestions of other names. Which i ignore. I just say 'we're picked thank you'.

Just ignore people who don't like the name you've chosen, in the bigger picture it's not important. They should be focusing on destressing you so you have a lovely pregnancy

Lizzylou · 29/12/2007 10:58

I love the Name Sebastian, and agree that Sebastian Peach sounds fantatsic, your surname is wonderful!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/12/2007 11:07

They are really nice, strong and inoffensive names. I really can't see why anyone would not like the names tbh.

eggnognally · 29/12/2007 11:13

We nearly had a Sebastian as well, but I think Mia (dd1) may have objected to having a boys name!

I was going to call my first dd Ursula but when she was so little it seemed just too big a name. Ended up calling her Ruth as she just looked like a little Ruth. She is now 15 and neither we nor she have ever regretted that. You may even feel the same when your ds is born... George Sebastian maybe ....etc. Great names anyway.
