@MrsNT so happy baby is good and healthy. It’s all becoming so real isn’t it.

Was really hoping we’d have the same gender baby but we like you say we can be fraternal twins.

I have really bad heartburn and indigestion. Also have a very itchy belly. Anyone else?

Starbeach · 01/02/2022 06:54

@jennixxx I’m so sorry for you I really want to give you a big hug 🤗 is there any mother and baby groups near you for support? If I’m perfectly honest if you have zero support where you are why don’t you start somewhere fresh before your little boy arrives? Away from your ex and all the things that remind you of the crappy things. Is your dad supportive? Xx

Starbeach · 01/02/2022 07:06

@ALHCTPS I understand your concern however if your vaccinated or not you can still transmit covid just like every other vaccine you’ve ever been given, it either stops the virus effecting you or lowers the symptoms. So it makes zero difference if the medical professional treating you is or isn’t vaccinated. Why are you worrying if they are not vaccinated if you have been? personally I feel it is personal choice for them and them alone, in fairness if they as medical professionals have chosen not to have the jab I’m sure they have a better understanding than most and will have looked into it in greater depth than the general public reading the papers.

ALHCTPS · 01/02/2022 08:01

@Starbeach you’re assuming a lot about my own qualifications and professional training and what I do and do not understand about the finer detail of transmission, but the overriding point here is that while I respect other’s rights to choose, that does not trump my own right to choose myself. And I wish I was as confident as you are in assuming that the minority of NHS staff who have chosen not be vaccinated are better informed than I am, and the majority of their colleagues, but I’m immensely dubious.

RoseValleyRambles · 01/02/2022 08:25

Just asked for a seat on a busy commuter train for the first time. Was offered one instantly, so feeling a little less nervous about future commutes. Still don't know how people used to do this everyday. Thank goodness for WFH.

Starbeach · 01/02/2022 08:30

@ALHCTPS I’m honest not having a go but trying to fully understand why your so scared of being treated but someone unvaccinated so I can provide an honest opinion and feedback on you comment. I work as a public health officer on the covid team before that I was in infection control.

RoseValleyRambles · 01/02/2022 08:37

@alhctps I'd maybe chat to your midwife about the risks / team vaccination levels? Given I'm fully vaxxed, and little one will get some protection from that, it's not something that I'm concerned about (albeit I think they've made bad decisions) as I feel we're well protected. I'm not sure what the NHS self testing programme is or will be by June, but if they're still doing 2 lfts a week that would also be reassuring.

I find it hard to decouple my own annoyance at antivaxxers from genuine concerns about risk, and find it helpful to think 'would I feel at risk if they were medically unable to be vaxed', as that helps me remove some of the emotion from it. But decisions about risk are a very personal choice. I hope it's not a situation you have to deal with if it's something that's stressing you out. X

GrowBabyGrow · 01/02/2022 09:17

Happy February ladies! One less month on the calendar until our babies are here Smile I found January went so slow and I was just wanting time to hurry up but this morning when I realised it was Feb I became so aware that things will never be the same after June! So going to try and make the most of it being just me and DH. Is anyone else doing a babymoon? We think we might do a trip to France next month when I'll be about 24 weeks

ALHCTPS · 01/02/2022 09:27

@Starbeach Not fear, more why would I want someone who isn’t prepared to take the basic precautions the vast majority of their colleagues have and their governing bodies recommend in a position to make any decisions regarding my medical care and that of my child? I’m expected to be vaccinated and to eat and drink and do all the sensible things to protect myself and my child - why would I throw that same caution to the winds when it comes to my care providers? It simply doesn’t correlate. They’re welcome to make their own choices, but why should I prioritise their choices over my own? Unless they have a sound medical exemption - allergy etc - I consider it right up there with not taking other precautions, like washing their hands or wearing the appropriate protective gear. I totally appreciate the staffing issues that have forced the NHS to backtrack on their diktat and don’t necessarily support compulsory vaccination, but I too have choices, not just the anti-vaxxers and the vaccine resistant.

fpeg · 01/02/2022 09:32

@GrowBabyGrow it's scary how quickly the time is marching on (and yet I agree, weirdly seems to be glacially slow at times too!) we were planning to go to Malta next week, but other half's work has gone mental (he works for himself so has to take the work when it comes), we may still get out for 5 days but I'm not holding my breath. I've got another week booked off at the end of March in the hope that if this one falls through we'll go then instead. Beyond that it's getting close to the time I won't be able to fly so keeping my fingers firmly crossed!

@jennixxx so sorry that you are going through this, it must be so incredibly tough. The very fact that you are worried about things shows that you're already in amazing mum mode - such lovely words of reassurance from others here as well - big virtual hug sent your way

@PeeAche exciting times prepping for the big celebration, how wonderful (and stressful) planning not one but two big events! 2022 is certainly going to be your year!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone, can't wait to welcome our little water tigers this year 😁😁😁

GrowBabyGrow · 01/02/2022 09:39

@fpeg oh I hope you are able to get out there for some sunshine!

I just looked up about the Chinese Zodiac Tiger and our babies are going to have brilliant personalities: 'vigorous and ambitious, daring and courageous, enthusiastic and generous, self-confident with a sense of justice and a commitment to help others for the greater good.'Star

Annabell1 · 01/02/2022 09:52

@jennixxx I'm also sending you a big hug. So sorry to hear that you are struggling, but never forget that you are strong, you can do this and you will be a good mum. No one can take that away from you.
Think about the positive things and all those opportunities that lie ahead of you.
I also don't know many people in the area, but I plan to go out and do things.
I hope things will get better for you. ❤️

Annabell1 · 01/02/2022 09:53

@GrowBabyGrow oh that sounds lovely. Thanks for sharing. ☺️

DaimDillyDoo · 01/02/2022 10:13

@Clomid1 yes!! I have both those symptoms. I'm finding creaming my belly eases the itching, maybe it's something to do with the skin stretching?

I've got Omzoprezol from the GP for the heartburn.

MrsNT · 01/02/2022 10:42

Ladies did u have fetus weight written on your report for 20 week scan? How much did urs say

MrsNT · 01/02/2022 10:44

@jennixxx im sure you will be the best mum for your little boy. Sometimes our experiences shape our future and prepare us for the challenges that lie ahead. Just remember..you can do it. No matter what anyone says or thinks...you were built for this and you will be a superb mommy soon

MrsNT · 01/02/2022 10:45

@clomid1. Old midwives/granny tale..baby is growing hair if u get heartburn

PeeAche · 01/02/2022 11:26

@jennixxx I admire you and I know you're going to be a fantastic mum to your little boy.

I've been really enjoying all the scan pics here too. Mine is in 6 days!

I wonder if Rhianna is on this thread?

destiEos · 01/02/2022 11:32

@Starbeach at the risk of derailing our lovely baby-thread, I would like to point out that although we all can have our personal opinions on whether or not we want to be vaccinated, or whether or not frontline health workers should be. We should have the choice of knowing that someone who is coming into contact with us/our babies has taken every recommended precaution to be as safe as possible. We have ALL been recommended to have the vaccine by the bodies that study and make these decisions worldwide.

I read today that the MMR vaccine rates in England are at a 10 year low, so I also worry about knock on effects of the "vaccine choice" argument.

Lastly, I'm not sure why you say that "it makes zero difference if the medical professional treating you is or isn’t vaccinated." Along with lower likelihood of catching the virus and lower level of severity of symptoms, it has been conclusively proven that vaccinated individuals are also less likely to transmit covid.

InvisibleDragon · 01/02/2022 11:33

@jennixxx I think the fact that you are worried about being a good mum means you already are a good mum! Everything with your Mum and ex sounds really tough. Are you getting any support with the PTSD symptoms? Are there things you can do if you feel overwhelmed that remind your body and mind that you are safe now?

Is anyone else getting nosebleeds? I was putting this down to air pollution when I was in Cairo, but I've been back for weeks and the inside of my nose is so sore and dry (and TMI scabby! Envy) So gross.

Also, instead of having a cute little bump, my stomach (high up at the front of my ribs) is also sticking out more than usual, making me look like a barrel!

PeeAche · 01/02/2022 12:16

At the risk of sounding like I don't care about "real issues" (I do!!) I think we should try to keep our thread politics free. The rest of Mumsnet is full of that and I love that this is a place that I get to bond with you lovely ladies over our babies.

I saw on another thread a few weeks ago that a Mumsnetter met some "friends for life" on her "due in" thread... back in 2012!

My round ligament pain is now so bad, I have bought a "belly bra". I have never felt like less of a sexual being in my life.

❤️

@GrowBabyGrow
We're planning a week in Tenerife around 27 week mark.

Starbeach · 01/02/2022 12:28

I just like to say sorry if I offended anyone I didn’t mean to so all covid talk is now out of bounds for me.

Hope you are all well and your pregnancies are going well and your scans go well xx

PeeAche · 01/02/2022 12:46

@Starbeach sorry if I missed this but, have you had your 20 week scan yet? Do you know what you're having?

I'm so impatient for mine now. (Monday)

And lol okay well baby full of hair is super cute too so can’t wait

@DaimDillyDoo I am trying to change my diet to help. If it doesn’t I’ll speak to GP so hopefully they can prescribe the same thing to me.

And I’ve ordered some E45 to rub on my belly, hope it works
