@Scoaf @GeorgiaMcGraw
I never got any colostrum out. Not a single drop. He's 6 days old now & breastfeeding like a dream 😊

onedream · 23/03/2022 15:23

My little baby boy Roman was born yesterday via elective c-section, calm and relaxed experience, very sore today but manageable with the pain relief. Good luck to everyone still waiting for their babies ❤️

Dyra · 23/03/2022 15:59

Congratulations @onedream! How excited are your older 2 to meet their baby brother?

@GeorgiaMcGraw Thanks. ☺️ Can't believe I'm almost 2 weeks in already. Had 10 day weigh in and health visitor today. Almost back at birth weight, just another 55g to gain. On the colostrum front I never got any before birth either time. Milk came in day 2/3 both times no trouble.

@Derbee How'd the nesting go? I love building IKEA furniture. Very stress relieving.

@Catconfusion Not long now. Hopefully your arthritis will subside quickly once baby is out of you. Can't believe it's only one more sleep for both you and @Scoaf!

Oh how exciting, love the name too, congratulations!
GeorgiaMcGraw · 23/03/2022 17:34

Thanks ladies for the colostrum replies, will try not to worry too much. I just feel extra pressure with the gestational diabetes and upcoming induction I think. Ah well, if it doesn't want to come, it doesn't come x

Catconfusion · 23/03/2022 20:18

Big congratulations @onedream. Glad your elective was a positive experience. Hoping the soreness subsided soon. Xx

Catconfusion · 23/03/2022 20:19

Thanks @dyra it’s super exciting. When I had my son the post c section pain was a bit more manageable because I’d been so uncomfortable with my hips before he came. Also amazing to be able to take ibuprofen again as it’s my drug of choice if I have a flare up. I’m sure I’ll feel loads better when baby is here. Xx

Catconfusion · 23/03/2022 20:41

@Scoaf bless you! Hoping the pains are just Braxton hicks. I hope you get a better nights sleep tonight. You’ll be just fine tomorrow. I would not be doing this again if I was worried. Looking forward to a happy update from you. Good luck for the morning! Xx

@GeorgiaMcGraw I know how you feel. I have GD too, and haven’t filled one syringe, even though I’ve seen colostrum after “milking”. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, I’m sure most of us won’t be taking any into hospital.
Catconfusion · 23/03/2022 21:22

@GeorgiaMcGraw and @derbee sorry to hear you’re having colostrum issues. I got severe cramps when I tried so gave up in the end not wanting to go into labour before my c section. I’m sure plenty of people struggle. Xx

Scoaf · 23/03/2022 21:40

@Dyra i know, it doesnt feel real.
@Catconfusion thankyou, i hope to see an update for you soon too 😃
Good Luck, see you on the other side xx

onedream · 24/03/2022 07:05

Thank you everyone 😀
@Catconfusion @Scoaf good luck today! Let us know how it went xx

@Dyra thank you these two are lovely they both want to constantly kiss baby's head and as soon as he makes any cry noise they both step in and sing all sorts of songs to settle him down, great help so far lol hope they keep it up 😊

Dyra · 24/03/2022 08:11

@onedream Awww that is so sweet. Long may it continue indeed!

@Scoaf and @Catconfusion Today's the day! Best of luck to you both!

Has anyone here not felt excited at all? I’m due in 6 days and I feel like the whole of March has just dragged so I don’t know if it’s because I’m impatient now. But I don’t feel really excited or overly happy that I’ll have a baby next week. There’s always so much to do. I just keep crying if anything.
And congratulations 🎉 to everyone who has had their babies already xx

Catconfusion · 24/03/2022 11:56

Our baby girl Elwen is here. All went well with the elective. She weighs a whopping 11 pounds 6. The midwife hadn’t seen a baby that big before! We’re a bit shocked as we knew she’d be big but she’s whole new level big. She’s looking very healthy and feeding like a trooper. I’m so relieved she’s here and all is well! Xx

onedream · 24/03/2022 15:27

@Catconfusion congratulations! Wish you a speedy recovery and enjoy the newborn cuddles 🥰

Dyra · 24/03/2022 15:35

Holy moly @Catconfusion! Over 11lb at what gestation again? I know that's over 5kg. No wonder she was playing havoc on your poor pelvis and hips. Glad the operation went well and I hope recovery is quick for you. Love the name. 🥰

Our little man Teddy arrived this morning weighing 7lb 8oz.. hes perfect.. lots of hair which explains the horrendous heartburn...
Huge congratulations @Catconfusion. What a big girl. Xx

Catconfusion · 24/03/2022 15:59

Thank you @onedream xx

@dyra we’re a bit shocked. They’ve checked her blood sugar and it’s normal so not GD. I was 39 weeks exactly today so she’s not even overdue. Xx

@Scoaf massive congratulations. How are you feeling? Did it go ok? I had awful heartburn too and we have masses of dark hair. Xx

Dyra · 24/03/2022 21:11

@Catconfusion Crazy. I am truly in awe. You and your DH must just make gigantic babies naturally. Enjoy all those snuggly baby cuddles!

@Scoaf Congratulations! Did anyone guess correctly you were having a boy? Teddy sounds lovely. Hope you DH got to stay with you all day, and your recovery is already underway.

Yup. I also had masses of heartburn and a hairy baby.

@Scoaf congratulations! My little boy was also 7' 8'..

For those of you having c-section recently how is your recovery going and how are you feeling? I'm on day 3 and still struggling even the tiniest walk is that ok? I also have just my own paracetamol and ibuprofen which I am alternating but was told by midwife they normally also prescribe stronger painkillers on discharge from hospital where she is from, it's a different county from the one I gave birth..I am now wondering if I should be taking something stronger..

Derbee · 25/03/2022 07:39

Loving reading about everyone’s babies! Well done to everyone. Smile

What have Covid restrictions been like in everyone’s hospitals? Are they still doing visiting hours only for partners, or have partners been allowed to stay for longer?

onedream · 25/03/2022 07:56

@Derbee
I gave birth in Warwickshire, visiting hours were 2pm until 7pm, my section was in the morning, husband stayed with me in labour ward room until 2pm then we were moved to postnatal where he was aloud to stay until the end of visiting hours only. Next day as for all, 2pm start of visiting hours but I was going home so he was allowed to come early as I was ready to go home and discharged before 2pm..
He needed to have negative lf covid test registered result prior to coming to hospital before section and just wear mask when in corridors or common areas..

Dyra · 25/03/2022 08:59

@onedream OOI, walk to where exactly? Day 3 I could walk/hobble around my house, bed to bathroom and back distances, but not much more than that. There seems to be a definite aversion to sending people home with stronger painkillers. Probably a cost saving measure. I know I didn't get any, and the rest of my bay, who were all discharged same day, didn't get any either. We were told that if we needed something stronger to contact our GP, MAU or even 111 to get some prescribed. Everyone's recovery and pain tolerance is going to be different, but you don't know what you'll need until you need it. Hopefully you'll feel much better soon.

@Derbee Similar to onedream's My partner had to provide a negative LFT every visit. It was valid for 24 hours. The hospital would provide a test to anyone who didn't bring one from home, but they had to leave the ward, wait the full 30 minutes for a result, then return.

Our visiting hours were 8am - 8pm. One visitor at a time, absolutely no children, have to wear a mask in the corridors. DH could come in any time if I were called down to delivery suite. He was free to come and go anytime I was on delivery suite. After the section, he stayed with me for a few hours in the recovery. No-one said anything about when he had to leave, but the poor guy needed a sleep. He could come back when I was moved to postnatal during visiting hours after that.
