do you have any other DC's - what are they called

SSStollenzeit · 21/12/2007 21:31

....sorry robin, I'm really sorry to do this when you're sounding so upbeat but is it maybe a bit flouncy ?

Something a bit more elegant/noble sounding would appeal to me more. Can't for the moment think of a good example. It's just I see visions of a southern belle in her ruffled skirts tripping downstairs for the ball

robinredbreast · 21/12/2007 21:32

can't even think of anything horrible that it rhymes with

what are your middle name ideas

Arabella sounds like the name someone would give their child who they think is a princess. I don't like Annabelle either.

JingEllBells · 21/12/2007 21:33

Sorry... missed half the thread... So is your dh Italian, robin? If so, it's even more perfect, and no-one will think it's sloaney. Do you (or do your dcs) have an Italian surname. If so, even better! You must say it with a properly sounded 'r' though... none of this stupid English pronunciation where the 'r' practically disappears (awabeller [shudder]). Maddalena is also nice, I agree.

For a middle name I'd go EITHER with another name with the same number of syllables as Arabella (like Maddalena for instance), or a single-syllable name - though that's hard if you want another Italian name, as they typically have at least two. But something like Arabella Mae (perhaps not that, but something that scans like that) would be nice. However, I may be alone in liking my dcs names to scan nicely...

SSStollenzeit · 21/12/2007 21:37

Ok so it's Arabella then. You decide fast. I didn't make my mind up till dd was about 7 days old (!)

Any nice Italian names in dh's family you could use as a second name. What's the nonna's name for instance? Mind you if you have an Italian surname maybe you want something English in the middle?

Must be a good site with Italian names

Izzybel · 21/12/2007 21:37

I've just thought that, although I said that it should have one syllable, my dd's first and middle names both have three syllables and it still goes together. Well, I think it does .
