Here's some names. Let's see if an Italian one fits. I like Arabella Rose too. Depends on your surname of course

Arabella Rose is nice, Izzy.

But the one-syllable surname is a difficult one. Arabella Rose (e.g.) Smith ends a bit abruptly for my liking. So I'm thinking back to a longer name...

Do you think that Arabella Maddalena Smith is too much?

You need a middle name that starts with a consonant, imho, to stop the 'a' at the end of Arabella merging with the start of the middle name (so not Arabella Anna, for instance)

What about:
Arabella Beatrice Smith?
Arabella Carlotta Smith?
Arabella Maria is maybe a bit obvious, no?
Arabella Chiara?
Arabella Susanna?
Arabella Lauretta?

Or why not go back to your original idea and call her Arabella Gisèle?

Izzybel · 21/12/2007 21:49

Arabell Grace is nice

MumtoCharlotteMay · 21/12/2007 21:49

Not overly keen on Arabella, what about Aria? That was on my top 10 when pregnant with dd. Think it means precious rose, or something like that.

Though I think Arabella Rose sounds lovely

JingEllBells · 21/12/2007 21:50

Actually, I am thinking that Arabella Gisèle Smith sounds really really nice.

Aria means 'air', so would make me think of an air-head . Actually, we should have called my dd1 that... she was made for the name Aria!

JingEllBells · 21/12/2007 21:54

And if you use Gisèle as a middle name you don't run the risk of it being shortened to anything.

SSStollenzeit · 21/12/2007 21:55

OMG some of the names on that list though (you have to scroll down), i.e. Gustava. Can you imagine it?

Actually I liked Letizia from that list. Not in combination with Arabella I don't think but as a first name.

robinredbreast · 21/12/2007 21:55

mmm jingellbells your right a longer middle name does go

mylovelymonster · 21/12/2007 21:57

Arabella - gorgeous. Go for it. Giselle a bit pretentious unless you're French

robinredbreast · 21/12/2007 21:59

i like ashley i dont want three italian names maybe an english or neutral middle name

Izzybel · 21/12/2007 21:59

I like the name Aria. It reminds me of Ariel, The little Mermaid, for some reason!

robinredbreast · 21/12/2007 21:59

but that s aa

Letizia is nice SSS, but does lead to various 'tits' jokes. (Used to work with one...).

Robinredbreast, I think you need a 2-syllable name (according to my special scientific method) with the stress on the 2nd syllable, so if not Gisèle/Giselle something that sounds like that ... like... um... can't think of anything now. Louise? Marie? No Italian names have that sound pattern (at least, not that I can think of) because they are almost always stressed on the penultimate syllable.

mylovelymonster · 21/12/2007 22:02

Arabella Charlotte
Arabella Louise
Arabella Elizabeth
....where's my baby name book..........

robinredbreast · 21/12/2007 22:04

i love your scientific approach lol its great

Arabella Charlotte i really like that

OP posts:
SSStollenzeit · 21/12/2007 22:05

ok two-syllable English middle names we need according to the scientific approach then

mylovelymonster · 21/12/2007 22:06

Arabella Frances (short for the italian Francesca?)..........
