Is anyone unvaccinated and pregnant?

Please speak to your midwife about your concerns and see what she recommends.

Unfortunately if a unvaccinated pregnant woman has covid before giving birth, the body will struggle to deal with both, you only need to google to see how many unvaccinated women have died after giving birth to see this is a much higher rate than before covid, where pregnancy related deaths in the U.K. were much lower.

Flufflekins · 23/12/2021 16:56

OH’s family friend got covid at about 32 weeks, had an EMC and then was put into medically induced coma. Baby was in special care but now home with Dad.

London1987 · 23/12/2021 16:57

I am vaccinated. I had my booster today a 5 weeks pregnant. I am 100% confident in that decision.

sociallydistained · 23/12/2021 17:03

No, I've just had my booster today and I am due end of January. I feel relieved that if I make it through the next couple of weeks I will hopefully be fully topped up for the birth.

I had my first when I was unknowingly pregnant and my second was just on the cusp of all the research FOR pregnant women getting the vaccine. The statistics of prevent women in icu etc scare the shit out of me. I want to keep my baby as safe as possible. I completely get why women weren't getting it before the information was available but now the science is there you really must go out and get your first vaccine at least and have some protection. That's my opinion.

Not a chance

willithappen · 23/12/2021 17:37

38 weeks pregnant today and have had both doses. Will get my booster in a couple weeks once it's time for me
Caught Covid at 33 weeks and never been more relieved that I got the vaccines as it was very minimal symptoms

Seems like you started this thread just to have an argument

NoMoreTractors · 23/12/2021 17:59

I didn't have the vaccine during pregnancy as I wasn't offered it until I was in the third trimester and already waiting for induction. I was fully isolating other than going to hospital.

I do know a lady that caught covid in her third trimester and became very ill in hospital. She then went into labour alone in hospital whilst very poorly and eventually a cesarean as her body couldn't cope. She went into ICU and baby NICU but was OK. She's OK now but recovery took a long time.

SouthwestSis · 23/12/2021 18:01

1st jab pre-pregnancy, 2nd jab in first trimester, and just had my booster in 3rd trimester.
Glad to have done all I can to keep myself and my baby safe.

where is mum?

Janesmom · 23/12/2021 19:08

Agree with PP. I’d treat a pregnant woman who refused vaccine against medical advice as exactly on a par with someone smoking or heavily drinking during pregnancy. Not the actions of a responsible parent.

They didn't have the data before and now they do! It's not just a casual change of mind! Go with the science.

ivykaty44 · 23/12/2021 19:10

t's really confusing not sure what to believe first they advised against it now there adamant we should get it

the reason being they waited until they had all the data and made sure it was safe, therefore there was a confused message, but now they know its safe and they have since the summer. So getting the vaccination is being pushed to keep expectant mothers out of critical care.

Farrowblue · 23/12/2021 19:11

My best advise to you is to stay active, ensure you boost your immune system with nutritious food and don’t stress yourself out. Gather as much information yourself as you can so you can make an informed decision yourself. Don’t go onto mumsnet for information, the majority of people on here spew nonsense, 99% of which has no legitimate evidence.

Avig14 · 23/12/2021 19:19

@Alisha32 yes. I had covid in October 2020. Way before vaccines. I have never been so I’ll in my life. My baby and I were at real risk. He was born at 36 weeks and I was too weak to look after him properly. I wish we had the vaccine then. If I was pregnant now I would take it without question. And btw a friend of mine was so I’ll with covid whilst pregnant she was put on an ecmo machine, had no idea she had even given birth till a month later. I don’t know if this is the answer you are looking for, but I have heard of too many women falling seriously with covid whilst pregnant. Think of your baby and do what is responsible in your eyes. Whatever decision you make you will have to live with.

She was transferred to another hospital better equipped to look after her. I’ve actually just asked for an update and she’s home for Christmas!
Festivemoose · 23/12/2021 19:23

Your sister is going against the guidelines of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Royal College of Midwives. She is not an expert in vaccinations and is ignoring the advice of the regulatory bodies that have taken advice from those that are.

WakeUpLockie · 23/12/2021 19:26

Spoken to a midwife and an ITU nurse this week and they are full of horror stories - all of unvaccinated women. Why? Because the same things just don’t happen to vaccinated women.
