@lovebeingmum9 - oh brilliant about the bumbo! Jack is getting used to it now?

Bit of advice...

I'm wanting to get Jack used to sleeping in his big cot in the day so I can get some things done.

There's been a few times I've put him down and he's stayed asleep or stirred and then got himself back off but not often at all, I think that's just luck!

He will only nap in his chairs for 20mins max. If he's on me he'll sleep for a good 2 hours sometimes! He loves his buggy and the car too.

Some days we are going the whole day from 8am - 7pm on about 3, half hour naps which I can see makes him so bloody tired.

Anyone got any tips? Or is he too young to be sleeping in his cot in the day?

I've just tried for 45mins to get him to sleep in his cot and he's not having it, but put him on me downstairs and he's asleep already!

I must add I really don't mind him sleeping on me, I'm embracing all the cuddles I can while he's still little but it would be good if I could get him used to sleeping in his cot!

jadey1991 · 22/03/2022 09:54

@LouLou0505 hey hun glad all is well with your and jack.
To be honest I don't use a cot and never have. I don't think jack is to small for his big boy cot. Like your said I think it's just luck. Josiah usually sleeps in his bouncer or on the bed. But mostly on the bed for his longer naps.
Josiah also loves his buggy and car seat. Whenever we go out he falls straight to sleep lol.

I think you should do whatever makes your feel comfortable hun. Everyone will have there own opinions.

Dexter's a bit hit and miss with going for naps in his cot. It really depends what mood he's in, sometimes I can put him down awake in there and he'll drift happily off to sleep and other times I'll put him down and he'll scream his head off until I lift him out! On those days I don't bother trying to fight it as we'd spend more time trying to get him to sleep than actually sleeping! I'm very much a baby led person and go with whatever is working on any particular day but I know others will be a bit stricter with routines, you've just got to do whatever works for you!
On another note my two older kids have covid and not very well at all so just praying that Dexter doesn't get it - or I don't get it and feel too ill to look after him 😔 currently all four of us are isolating while my husband goes to work, it's going to be a loooooong week!

LouLou0505 · 22/03/2022 16:36

@jadey1991 @burtle4 - thanks ladies! I'm very much led by Jack which clearly works maybe he'll just get used to it over time!

I get what you're saying about not fighting it as we're currently an hour and half deep into a nap on me 😂 it was just easier to let him sleep but I've left my sliding doors open and I'm getting cold 😂

We've had such lovely weather yesterday and today it's been so nice to be outside most of the day Jack loves looking around 😍

jadey1991 · 22/03/2022 19:56

@burtle4 oh no hun I hope your children recover fast. If it makes not covid going around it's chicken pox.. chicken pox is going around in my youngest daughters school and I'm scared just in case she gets it as she hasn't had it before. If she catches sit then I'll be worried about Josiah.

@LouLou0505 aww bless hun, I wish I had my own garden.. I share a garden with my neighbour downstairs and they had a dog in the garden pooing. I cannot deal with the neighbours

@loulou oscar generally sleeps either in his moses basket which we put in the travel cot downstairs or in his rocker......when he outgrown the moses which I'm thinking will be soon the he will lay straight in the travel cot which he will be sleeping in overnight in our bedroom until he's older or laid back pram downstairs.....you do whatever best for you and Jack 😊
@burtle oh no I hope your 2 kiddies get well soon and nobody else under your roof catches it x
@jadey1991 glad your doing well hun x
We had second jabs today and oscar has been ok but a bit ratty understandably.....so enjoying this beautiful weather....took 2 youngest to the park today and was beautiful 😎

LouLou0505 · 22/03/2022 20:14

@jadey1991 - oh that's got to suck! We've just finished our garden with her turf so as my husband says Jacks got a new football pitch to play on 😂

Ive heard in America they have chicken pox parties!!

jadey1991 · 22/03/2022 21:38

@lovebeingmum9 glad you are well. Aww bless Oscar, I've actually gotta book josiah's second lot of jabs now he will be 14 weeks tomorrow.. dreading it to be honest

I forgot to ask how everyone is coping with all the prices rising of everything. I'm not gonna lie we are struggling. Especially with food gas and electric.. it's costing so much

OP posts:
lovebeingmum9 · 22/03/2022 22:17

@jadey1991 the increase in costs are just ridiculous aren't they! We had our council tax bill through and that was eye watering lol.... luckily we live more or less opposite our children's school, and have all amenities from local High Street Close by so no need to use our car daily, other than hubby who works further afield and has a work van he uses everyday. I'm good at budgeting and shop about and get things on deals so for a family of 7 it's expensive but we do alright 😊 x

jadey1991 · 22/03/2022 23:24

@lovebeingmum9 yes same here I got mine through today.. couldn't believe my eyes.. you are lucky in that sense then because I've gotta travel to take youngest daughter to school as hubby is working. We did a £200 food shop thinking it will last us at least 2 weeks but it hasn't. It's only lasted us 1 week.. ( meaning meat wise, drinks toiletries and some freezer food) it's heart breaking

Hi everyone. Sorry I’ve been quiet. We had a stay in hospital when S was 6/7 weeks old as he had a urine infection and we have been going for weekly bloods since as one of his levels was abnormal but thankfully all is well now and he’s doing great.
S is 12 weeks tomorrow and he’s cooing away all the time and is happy playing, he hits out at hanging things but he doesn’t grab things yet.
I think we are also starting to get a tooth here as lots of hand chewing and dribbling going on at the min.
I can’t believe how quickly the time is going, S is becoming a real character now and it’s amazing to see but I wish time would slow down sometimes.
Hope everyone doing well.

Hope everyone's little ones are doing well and enjoying the sunshine we are having. Its been lovely being able to dress baby up in little summer outfits, little rompers etc...heres leola today 😊

Thank you @jadey1991 he looks so handsome and cheeky with his little smile. Absolutely lovely. So nice to see the photos of the babies and how they're getting on.
Weather is so beautiful. Has anyone thought about suncream for the babies? I cant remember with my eldest what age they can have it on and which is the best one? Any ideas anyone?

jadey1991 · 26/03/2022 21:08

@Curlymam88 thank your darling... yes it amazing to see how fast the babies are growing up... there features are coming more aren't they... erm to be honest I've never used sun cream for my kids.

Hey ladies, sorry been bad at keeping up here! Mother's Day was decent here. Good weather and got out for some coffee and cake. I had said a while ago to OH that we don't need to worry about mother's and father's day until he's old enough to want to make a little card or help with a chore or 2 on the day... basically what I did. Turns out my husband got a little card for me on his behalf though 😆 so that was a nice surprise. How was your Mother's Day? You've got more little ones @jadey1991 so I assume you definitely got something!

2020mission · 29/03/2022 18:52

It's been a while so I've attached a couple of the most recent Matthew snaps. He's decided he's now holding his own bottles (for some of his feeds) 😆
