Hey everyone! Hope you're all okay.
Had my 6 week review today. As you all know I want to try for no 2 this year. Alarmingly my gp said I don't have to wait to try and conceive following section..very scary, given all the advice online says wait 6 months. I'm going to wait, I can only imagine how much damage it would do if I got pregnant now.

jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 13:12

@Theawkwardblonde glad all is well following your 6 week check.. oh so I suppose that's good news for you hun.. I'll be happy to hear when your next conceive. I do hope it works soon for you hun. How is baby?

@Theawkwardblonde glad it went well that surprises me they'd recommend to start so soon! The amount of times midwives asked me if I wanted contraceptives in hospital after the birth I didn't think any would be recommending any time soon 😅 definitely wait until you feel healed and ready to go though as by a miracle we might catch a lot earlier when trying again. You never know! I've still not had my GP appointment it's booked for 10 weeks. I think it's mostly Matthew they will be focusing on anyway I've heard they just ask you how you are feeling and about contraceptives and don't examine you. Assume is different with c sections though. I'm still bleeding and I'm almost 8 weeks postpartum 😔 it's really light right enough but enough to make me need to keep wearing a panty liner every day and preventing us from having sex... not that it's a priority by any means haha anyone else gone this long??

LouLou0505 · 19/02/2022 14:54

@2020mission - I had my check up this week and I obvs had a section too and they just ask if you're healed they didn't even want to check my scar which didn't bother me. They ask how your mood is and if you want contraception and that's it 😂 they focused more on Jack.

I'd say I bled for 6 weeks but the last week was nothing really. But I've now been on my first period for 2 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's super light but think it's now ending.

9 weeks ago today my angel joined us, where has the time gone?!😩

@2020mission aww bless you I stopped bleeding 4/5 postpartum... surprisingly I haven't had a period yet tho( not that I'm looking forward to it.) Josiah will be 10 weeks on Wednesday.. he is having his 6 week check up on Tuesday and immunisations on Friday... not looking forward to this... to be fair I haven't had sex yet.. I'm actually scared to🤦🏽‍♀️

It does seem to be a bit long for bleeding then for me. Unless it's actually just a period now and it's super light?

I'm pretty miffed today... I went to collect Matthew’s paracetamol prescription (he needs it as he’s below 4kg) for his 8 week immunisations on Monday morning but the pharmacist refused to give me it as apparently the GP hasn’t noted the correct dosage 😔 there’s no time to resolve it before his immunisation clinic first thing on Monday morning as GPs are closed all weekend and the pharmacy only opens when his vaccines would be happening too. So annoyed. I couldn't have picked it up any sooner as the HV only processed it at the middle of this week when she weighed him. I hope it's ok he's going to get them late now 😟

I had to move our 6 week GP appointment too as it conflicted with the immunisation clinic! So we're not seeing the GP for that until a week on Monday so 10 weeks for me too @jadey1991 I'll ask him about my long bleeding if I still am come then but surely not?? 😅

@LouLou0505 yeah definitely expecting very little from the GP then since that's what you also experienced! Little Jack is so cute 💙

I feel like I'm failing Matthew not getting him vaccinated at 8 weeks as who knows how delayed it will be not with such a late cancellation.

jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 19:33

@2020mission they might not give him the immunisations until you have the paracetamol... so ask them first hun before you take him. However they won't give his immunisations yet until you have had your 6 week check with nurse. That's a fact and protocol... so double check hun..

Yeah I'm not sure where my period is to be honest.... I have my 6 week check on soon via telephone... Josiah has his one face to face on Tuesday x

@jadey1991 thanks! Little one is doing grand but oral thrush still hasn't cleared.

@2020mission tbh I think his information was a bit duff as midwife, HV, midwife friend and my consultant all said wait 6 months. Yes definitely hoping we catch a lot quicker! Cannot be done with another 18 months TTC with losses. I've actually got 6 months pp in my diary 😂 I'm only thinking of trying at 6 months in case it takes ages again - don't want to end up a donkey again 🤦🏼‍♀️ I didn't get examined..it was a telephone call which I found a bit daft considering my section scar was infected too. I was asked if it looked okay..I'm assuming so, I don't have anything go compare it to! They did just ask about my scar, period, sex, contraception and when I next want to TTC. Hopefully yours is more insightful than mine.

I stopped bleeding about 2 weeks ago (4weeks pp), then ovulated and I'm now in the middle of a brutal period. It's as heavy as my bleeding after the section.

2020mission · 19/02/2022 20:10

@jadey1991 ohh I wonder if Scotland is different as my HV knows our GP appointment is after the immunisations. I called and left a voicemail to cancel the immunisations as it wouldn't have been feasible for me to get a prescription on time. Hopefully him having them late will be ok 😬 I'm pretty annoyed that either the HV or GP failed to clearly communicate the weight for the dosage... the pharmacy had the prescription right there but said they can't hand it over without GP confirmation on the dose. Not sure why they wouldn't have passed on that information as that's the whole reason its prescribed. Otherwise I'd just have been buying Calpol myself surely?

@Theawkwardblonde my cousin was asked to send a photo of her C section scar to the GP for her appointment and then had hers over the phone... I joked they better not ask me to send a photo of my stitches 😂 no chance! 6 months sounds a lot more ideal 👍 I'm still planning next April but who knows I might go sooner. All depends on how Matthew is as the months go on too I guess haha

jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 21:11

@Theawkwardblonde oh my sounds like your going through a bad monthly... I'm quite worried I haven't had a period yet.. glad baby is doing well.. how long did doctor say it will take to clear up?

OP posts:
jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 21:13

@2020mission if youndont mind me asking(you probs have said it at some point in the chat) what is baby's weight?).
You might be right about living in Scotland. England is sooo different...

OP posts:
2020mission · 19/02/2022 21:17

@jadey1991 he was 3.7kg at his weigh in earlier this week. He's been gaining slowly and lost a lot in the first week as the postpartum haemorrhage delayed my milk supply. I'm also convinced he has a bit of tongue tie, the infant feeding adviser said she thinks he does but didn't refer him as feeding isn't hurting me and she said the latch and feed looked fine when she watched. He may very well not be drinking as much as he could if it wasn't there though!

jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 22:27

@2020mission oh I see hun. Maybe you should get a second opinion on the tongue tie and giving baby calpol... because he may be allowed 2ml of it.

@2020mission I carried on bleeding up until 8 weeks, it even got heavier around 7 weeks but then calmed back down to spotting and finally went just after 8 weeks. I wasn't too worried though as bled that long with both the others and the doctor at my 8 week check said only to worry if there was a smell or I was in pain.
@jadey1991 I think if you're exclusively breast feeding you tend not to get your period back until you stop or start feeding less. I still haven't got mine - thank god considering I only stopped bleeding from birth 2 weeks ago!

2020mission · 19/02/2022 23:01

Ahh @burtle4 thanks that's a relief. I'm hoping the breastfeeding gives me a break from periods too after these 8 weeks 😆

Theawkwardblonde · 19/02/2022 23:06

@jadey1991 the thrush should have cleared by now. She's got more medicine to take bless her. God this period has been brutal. I've been filling a pad in an hour the last 2 days..doctor said that's normal though. Had to whip out the maternity pads I had left over 😂
Very envious right now of those who are breastfeeding - could do without my periods returning for a few months!

Theawkwardblonde · 19/02/2022 23:08

@2020mission my friend who is with the same gp as me was asked to send a picture of her scar..don't think the gp had read the notes properly as she had an episiotomy 🤣🤣

2020mission · 19/02/2022 23:08

@Theawkwardblonde 😂 did she do it??

jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 23:22

@burtle4 to be honest I can't remember when I had my period when I had my daughter which was 7 years ago.. if that's the case then wow,

OP posts:
jadey1991 · 19/02/2022 23:23

@Theawkwardblonde aww bless her I do hope she gets better soon... aww bless ya, I thought it was something to worry about not having a period considering I had a terrible birth.

OP posts:
burtle4 · 20/02/2022 01:59

@jadey1991 yeah, definitely don't worry if you're exclusively breastfeeding, it's actually quite unusual to get it back if you are, especially in the early days.
@Theawkwardblonde your period sounds awful, I thought filling a pad in an hour was supposed to be something you have to worry about, or is that just if you're pregnant? I can't remember! Not looking forward to getting mine back either. That's hilarious your friend got asked to send a picture of her scar after an episiotomy, I really hope she didn't 😂🙈

Theawkwardblonde · 20/02/2022 02:32

@2020mission thankfully no 😂 I found it hilarious they asked her. They were sharp told where to go too!

@jadey1991 I wouldn't worry about your period of BFing. Some women use breastfeeding as a form of contraception as it stops periods. Apparently it's because our bodies don't release an egg as they know we are feeding a child still - which is fascinating!

@burtle4 I thought it was something bad too filling a pad that quick. Gp said not to worry, then again he said get pregnant straight away 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm not in any pain, it's just a lot and quite shocking. Going to give it another day to tail off then I may call 111 to check.

jadey1991 · 20/02/2022 11:08

At least I have nothing to worry about then. Thanks ladies
