@jadey1991 same here, i dont have social media.
The baby care unit asked if it was ok to give Leola a dummy while she was there with them. She has one now and again mainly at night to sleep. Shes been sucking her hands aswell thats when I tend to give her a dummy and to settle her at night to sleep after her feed. She can go all day without one though. Im unsure of the effects of a dummy and BF though as Leola has bottle feeds

jadey1991 · 05/02/2022 10:23

@Curlymam88 how is leola doing? How's her reflux? How r u?

Thanks ladies we'll try the dummy at bedtime tonight 👍 was going to try last night but never got around to it after he sicked up his entire formula bottle we gave before bed 😩 not what you want when trying to get the weight on him! He usually only spits up small amounts when burping or just after a feed never seen it all just pour out before!

2020mission · 05/02/2022 11:42

Meant to also ask if/when you first noticed your LO smiling? I think Matthew was last night but hard to tell... he's only 5 weeks and 5 days old. He's getting quite patchy on the head now too haha

@jadey1991 her reflux is alot better now thanks. Shes still on the gaviscon but not so many doses. Shes 9 weeks now and has her jabs on Tuesday. Im glad josiah has settled alot better for you.
I'm doing ok thanks, my partner is doing my head in, I think alot of it is to do with him being in the house isolating and not being able to get to work. He's so snappy and miserable I've ended up taking the girls to my daughters room to spend the day away from him. Be glad when he can go back to work.
On the other hand we've booked our first holiday for Easter time as a family of 4. Leolas first holiday. Only a UK holiday with hot tub and near the beach. Something to look forward to 😊
Hope everyone is doing well, love seeing all the baby pics put up and seeing how they are growing and changing.
@lovebeingmum9 hope you are doing well? I can imagine you have your hands filled with all your kiddies but hope all is well.

Curlymam88 · 05/02/2022 11:54

@2020mission leola was exactly the same. The whole bottle would just come straight back out like a fountain. The gaviscon helps, and we try keep her sat up for aslong as we can after her bottle. Although it is difficult at night when you just want to get your head down
5weeks and 6 days we first started to see her smiles. You know its a proper smile if its as a reaction to something you do Smile so sweet

2020mission · 05/02/2022 13:43

@Curlymam88 I breastfeed during the night and let him go straight it back to sleep 😅 it feels risky but I think he takes much less at the breast so thankfully only ever small spit ups there. We do try and keep him upright during the day after feeds though particularly the formula bottles. I'll need to look into gavison to see if that helps, thanks for the tip! I have noticed he has a sour milk breath quite often so he definitely seems to have reflux. Sometimes does a wheezing noise too which doesn't sound good!

jadey1991 · 05/02/2022 15:34

@2020mission aww bless him lol look at the smile.
I noticed Josiah was smiling around 5 weeks too. Now he is laughing and making up loads of noises. Babbling lol

@Curlymam88 aww glad she is doing well hun. 9 weeks already. Where has the time gone. I say that but Josiah is 7 weeks on Wednesday. Are how nice, where you off to?
And I can relate to OH being so annoying. That's like mine.

@Curlymam88 I could do with a holiday near a beach with a hot tub, sounds fab! My husband has been a bit of a grump recently too I think it's because Matthew is full on and he hates that he can't stop crying with the breast like I can so he feels a bit useless a lot of the time. He gets a great sleep too as I wake up for feedings and Matthew doesn't cry much during the night, mostly sleeps through in bed with me. Can't imagine how he'd be if he did have lack of sleep too 😂 men!

Curlymam88 · 05/02/2022 17:24

@2020mission we had the gaviscon for baby on prescription off the doctor. Worth a try, hope they help.
@jadey1991 we are going to Newquay in wales. Its lovely there. We managed to find a quirky tree top house with the hot tub near the beach on air b n b. I love some of the quirky places to stay on there.
@2020mission thing is we've all had covid here but I still had to manage and deal with the baby crying and care for her. He told me just now he's stressed because he's ill and she won't stop crying while I nipped to the shop. Im starting to notice that baby is starting to prefer me comforting her when she's grizzly. But explaining babies pick up on our emotions and when we are stressed they feel the same went over his head.

jadey1991 · 05/02/2022 18:21

@Curlymam88 aww that sounds great hun. I do hope you all have fun. I wouldn't mind a holiday myself

OP posts:
2020mission · 05/02/2022 18:26

Aww I know with the emotions! My husband doesn't realise that either I try to always hide that from Matthew even when i am stressed out. He's still been a bit bad today spitting up and spit up a few small breast feeds which he doesn't usually do. We'll be at the GP soon for our check so will ask them about gavison and reflux when I'm there (if we can wait until then!)

Curlymam88 · 05/02/2022 18:33

@jadey1991 I hope so too! Unless I've murdered him by then and end up on the run 🤣
Yea it is hard being stressed and tired sometimes but they definitely do pick up on it all.
I think the doctor should prescribe something for reflux especially as you say Matthew needs to keep the milk down and keep the weight on.

jadey1991 · 05/02/2022 21:29

@2020mission if I'm honest with you Josiah wasn't taking well to the meds that the doctors gave. However gaviscon I didn't use for long to notice any difference. However I've been using infacol, and that has been helping 100% with reflux, constipation and wind. I love it. I would suggest you try it: give it a week

Thanks noted that too now @jadey1991 👍

Well... dummy attempt number 1 was a fail 😅 sucked for 3 seconds then dropped out. Tried again and the same. He's not having the sucking without food!

jadey1991 · 06/02/2022 09:04

@2020mission bless you hun. I gave up on the dummies to. I'll try when he is a few months old. How was Matthew last night

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 06/02/2022 09:04

My first daughter never had a dummy. Leola seems to not like a dry dummy. She always wants to lick the dummy first a few times before she puts the whole dummy in the mouth to sick on 🤣 so funny the way shes getting a personality already.

2020mission · 06/02/2022 13:07

He was fine last night. Although he's got a new thing where he screams during bottle feedings when you pause to burp him. We usually burp him every ounce or so and he used to be fine with it but now all hell breaks loose the moment that bottle leaves his mouth 😅

jadey1991 · 06/02/2022 13:53

@Curlymam88 aww bless her. None of my children liked dummies.
@2020mission Josiah let's put a high pitch scream too although that's when he is sleeping. Never understood why

Hope you're all well ladies. Quick one - how often do you little ones sleep in the day? We've no issues at night but really struggling to get her down for longer than 10 minutes during the day. She's clearly exhausted but will not settle. It's been really bad today and nothing would calm her for hours. She's still awake now and has had about an hour sheep in total since 7am 🤦🏼‍♀️

lovebeingmum9 · 06/02/2022 20:55

Hi all hope you and your babies are all well?
Thanks @curlymam yes all good thanks I'm sorry I've missed so much I can't believe my last comment was almost 3weeks ago! Oscar was 7wks yesterday he's growing well! We had healthcare app on Friday but had to be by phone as she was isolating....so he wasn't weighed...but on my scales at home he's at least 12lb 😊 He's a super demanding baby, very restless, very little sleep day and night, feeding is every 2 hours but lots of cluster feeds (has 1 bottle then pretty much gearing up ready for the next) and screams alot.....we've put him on 2nd size bottle teat and that's helped as he took forever to drink a bottle and lots of sucking but on 2nd teats it's effortless. He has 1 of those screams that goes straight through you....in the night he doesn't give me a heads up he will just wake and scream until he gets bottle....its that bad we still buy the ready made formula to just pour in and heat but even then its not quick enough lol hard work but I know it won't be forever and he will soon nail some sort of routine (I hope) 😅

lovebeingmum9 · 06/02/2022 20:58

Here's a pic of Oscar 💙😊

2020mission · 06/02/2022 21:56

So cute @lovebeingmum9!

@Theawkwardblonde Matthew is similar... I get him down for a nap usually around 1-3pm but otherwise he's awake all day/evening with only some short snoozes e.g. eyes shut for 15 mins while lying on me after a breast feed but will wake up as soon as I place him elsewhere like his crib. He sleeps from 1am-9am through the night with a few wakes for quick feeds or a nappy change during that but straight back to sleep after. It must be because of good night sleeps?

jadey1991 · 07/02/2022 00:39

@Theawkwardblonde oh hun I know how you feel. Since yesterday Josiah hasn't slept no longer the 30 min during the day. Hasn't been good because I've had so much to do. He just moaned and groaned now and then... night time wise he is great... I really don't know what to suggest other then maybe lay her on you chest for about 30 min when sleeping and try lay her down
