@Curlymam88 oh no. Seems like all our babies are getting it. Is the sma milk good then? I've been using apitmel. I feel for you all because that's what it's been like for me and my OH. I had 2 hours sleep last night. Josiah has the gurgling on his chest to. My OH said he was sick a few times but only a little bit and some came out of his nose.

@burtle4 I agree with you 100% I might try the formula too. I'm a third time mum myself and this time round is different to my other 2

@tashx yes my little one don't like sleeping in his Moses basket at all. I have to co sleep or have him on my chest

@lovebeingmum9 agreed we are all shattered lol. With visitors I make them have at least 2 negative tests before they come and visit. However the areas they are coming from isn't high and they.m don't mix with loads of people. To be fair I haven't had many visitors. Just a few family members. Got my in laws coming Saturday

@jadey1991 thanks for that. I'm going to try and see the doctor tomorrow to see if they can help as I'm pretty sure it is silent reflux. What's the medication that Josiah is on called?
Dexter can fart like there's no tomorrow but he doesn't burp anywhere near as much. His poos are always really explosive as well, like you can hear him doing one a mile away!

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 07:30

@jadey1991 @burtle4 yes Leola burps and farts pretty well, and the same her poos are pretty explosive too. Although she does struggle to poo. Shes constantly straining to try go but health visitor said its fine aslong as her poos aren't solid.

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 07:51

Also the sma milk, dhes only been on it for a day so far. Seems ok. But she's still being randomly sick hours after a feed. But not alot as before.

lovebeingmum9 · 07/01/2022 09:48

Thanks @burtle @ jadey1991 it's a hard one isn't it.....I know we will all catch it at some point and it's closing in on our area we live in aswell so only a matter of time! But my sis and I are at totally opposite ends.....I'm prob being overly cautious and she's prob not being cautious enough
(different strokes for different folks)

If anyone's worried about babies weight or just curious to see what they way.....I
got on the scales this morning and because I was a round figure (excuse the pun lol) got off and held oscar and went back on and he weighs a solid 11lb 😊 I know scales all vary but it's good to get an idea,or if baby weigh ins close again a good tip for 1st time mums to keep note x

2020mission · 07/01/2022 10:55

My husbands parents and sister came to see our baby a couple of days ago and I was really quite upset they turned up and didn't wash their hands and didn't offer to wear a mask or anything when holding him. My mum and dad always wear a mask when visiting right now even without me asking they know because he's only a week old it's safer to. I wish it was mild enough to be able to open the door to let fresh air in but we have snow in Scotland right now so no chance of that! ⛄️ I've probably become overly fussy but I think it's fair when he's so tiny? Father in law was also letting him play with tassels on his scarf while holding him and I was just thinking that scarf probably isn't clean it will dangle on everything and who washes a scarf after every wear? AIBU? 😂

jadey1991 · 07/01/2022 11:43

@burtle I will attached pic. I'm at my midwife appointment now so I will see what else they suggest in terms with sleeping and the way he is..
@Curlymam88 yes that's the main thing as long as it's not solid

@2020mission you sound a bit like me. I think things like the way you did about the scarf and that was before covid. I dont think its a bad thing!!

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 12:10

@jadey1991 I've had the tablet version of that medicine for myself when I've had too much acid. Its good stuff.

burtle4 · 07/01/2022 12:30

@jadey1991 thank you! Hoping to get an appointment this afternoon, I've also tilted his crib so he's not lying flat which seems to help a bit

jadey1991 · 07/01/2022 14:03

@Curlymam88 @burtle4 I do hope the medicine helps him then. I had my midwife appointment. She said it has nothing to do with formula. I should try and use bottles that avoids colic. She said that I should put him in baby carpet during the day and walk around with him. Night times I don't know what to do. I'll see what happens tonight x

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 15:27

@burtle4 yes same here i have the incline on the next2me to help and @jadey1991 im using anti colic tommee tippee bottles but with a bigger teat as the formula is thick. Ive also tried MAM anti colic bottles but Leola seemed to prefer the tommee tippee ones.
Finally had babys hearing done today and all was fine and finally registered her with the doctors. It was our first trip out together just the 2 of us and she was so good. I was a bit anxious incase I forgot how to use the car seat and pram 🤣

Decadesbcun · 07/01/2022 15:48

In terms of covid and visitors we have asked everyone to do a LFT the morning of visit and to wash hands etc prior to handling baby. But we have only had family members visit so far.

@jadey1991 I bought a wedgehog at 0300 the other night to try and help with reflux symptoms. It goes under the mattress and just tilts the head end slightly. Seems to be ok so far. Have ordered all manner of things at silly o’clock in the hope that something will help him settle a bit more.

lovebeingmum9 · 07/01/2022 16:18

@curlymam aw registered yay! 🎉
The only appointment available round our way is 15th of February...we normally get ours registered on day 10 so I was quite shocked!
Hope you ladies find a solution for your babies with colic....can't be nice! x

lovebeingmum9 · 07/01/2022 16:20

@curlymam re Read your post 🤦‍♀️ registered at doctors also on my to do though lol also glad hearing was all good x

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 17:10

@Decadesbcun I think I might have a look into the wedgehog.
@lovebeingmum9 thsnk you. They were surprised by how long her hearing test took, we were only there 5 mins. Weve also registered her birth. Think we did that Xmas week. They must be very busy around your area. Lots of babies maybe 😄

jadey1991 · 07/01/2022 18:04

@Decadesbcun oh I might try this then... gosh I'm having more trouble I'm sure Josiah is constipated... do I think I can give him infacol?

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 18:16

@jadey1991 leola is the same. I find a warm bath helps her and I rub her belly in a clockwise circular direction. Apparently thays the direction a baby's colon is. Also we cycle her legs and push upwards towards her belly. Im not sure on if infacol helps constipation or not though sorry.

LouLou0505 · 07/01/2022 19:59

Off topic here ladies but...

Has anyone else completely lost their appetite after birth? I literally feel like I'm back to the first trimester with sickness in the evenings too!

I eat breakfast and something small for lunch but by the evening I can't stand anything!

lovebeingmum9 · 07/01/2022 20:29

@curlymam well done getting it all done......I'm a bit more laid back this time round! Yes there's definitely something in the water round here then 🤣
@loulou yeah the weight is dropping off me because I'm running around after everyone else,I'm quite happy to get my body back and find it easier eating a quick cereal bar etc although I don't feel sick anymore! After 8months of morning sickness I'm relieved it dissappears as soon as I've given birth...but the appetite takes some time to come back sometimes x

Curlymam88 · 07/01/2022 21:46

@LouLou0505 im the total opposite. Since the very beginning of pregnancy I lost my appetite when I was in the hospital after baby was born I was starving hungry every day. Our hospital food here in Wales is pretty shocking so was glad to get home to proper food. Heres a photo I took of my 'toast' while in hospital. It was more like warm bread every morning though!!!
