Hello all,

I have just discovered this thread! I am 12 weeks today, had my scan yesterday, and am due 2nd August. Anybody else due on the 2nd too?

As this is my first pregnancy I am an anxious mess - that alongside the fact that my partner has just had heart surgery so I am taking care of him. Can anybody suggest ideas to relax when you only have small periods of time available?

Sorry to hear that @StayWeird, such a shame.

Bit of a frustrating day here - was supposed to have booking in appointment, which surgery insisted had to be in-person (previous one was over the phone). So I take time out work to drive over there and find out that my actual midwife is on annual leave, and her cover would only take enough info to send off for dating scan, not do the full booking in. She was also very confused as to why surgery had asked people to come in rather than have a phone call!

But the ball is rolling at least on the dating scan and that's the main thing. So keen to have that done so I can finally tell people!

surprised12 · 19/01/2022 13:22

Anyone got any tips for feeling less anxious??

I've booked another scan for this Sunday (will be my second private one) just to try and tell myself everything is okay.

Today I'm worrying because I weighed myself and weigh exactly the same as I did early December - which is making me worry!! I'm 8+3 today so surely I should have put some weight on already?? Has anyone else?

BluePear · 19/01/2022 13:46

I don't think everyone gains weight infact some people loose weight if they are too sick. But it is difficult not to be anxious. I have gone the extreme other way and have gained too much weight! When I didn't want this to happen 🤣 . However I do have had a huge appetite that I can't seem to satisfy.

11+3

Meepthesheep · 19/01/2022 15:56

Hi all,

Please could I join? I'm due on August 16th. This will be baby number 4, and was very much a surprise... Though a welcome one now I have got my head around it!

I can't stop eating either - which is why I'm freaking out! My day revolves around food ha!

Congratulations!! Wow - baby 4!!
madeleine85 · 19/01/2022 16:20

@surprised12 everyone is different. But 1lb isn’t a big deal, that’s honestly water weight normally. In the first trimester a lot of people lose weight due to lack of appetite/cutting out booze etc. I think I’ll prob gain a few lbs as this is my second and I’m getting a mini bump already which didn’t show till 16 weeks last time. Just enjoy your journey and be healthy and happy x

PopGoesBang · 19/01/2022 16:37

@CoalCraft that's annoying with the appointment. Everywhere is so different. I've spoken to two different midwives on the phone, and had my blood test with 2 others - none on my 'team' or my named midwife! Apparently I'll meet her at my 16 weeks apt.

@surprised12 everyone will be different with weight. I've lost almost a stone because of the hypermesis. Despite baby doing so much growing they are still so tiny, and will start getting bigger in the second trimester. And don't forget, everyone will show differently too.
I'm not sure if you've had your booking in appt with the midwife yet, but they'll ask you if you have any worries - make sure you tell them about feeling anxious, they'll be able to offer some help and reassure you. It's a big rollercoaster journey, and it's bound to feel up and down.

Welcome @Meepthesheep I'm due the 10th August (unless the 12 week scan tells me differently!)

I've just managed to hover the stairs. I'd forgotten what bending over with the hoover does to your lower back/hips! I'm putting that on the task list for dp going forward. He's loving all the delegation I'm doing. But I just can't do everything like I was with the hypermesis, some days the school run and work is my limit.

Isonthecase · 19/01/2022 18:51

@surprised12 lucky you, had my booking appointment today and I'm 4kg heavier than this point last pregnancy... Everyone is different ☺️

Meepthesheep · 19/01/2022 20:59

Thank you @PopGoesBang and @surprised12... I know! We must be crazy! My others are bigger now (12, 8 and 6), so I'm sure going back to the newborn stage will be a shock to the system!

I have my booking in and scan both booked for 3rd Feb. I hope everyone's scans etc go well.

DontSayKwen · 20/01/2022 00:57

So sorry @StayWeird. Horrible news and hope you’re back on a thread soon. Look after yourself x x

TimeToResign · 20/01/2022 01:00

@netflixandnochill lovely scan :)

@PopGoesBang hope you’re feeling better now. Does it come and go or has it been consistently bad?

I had booking appt today - all went well but I wish they’d make it clearer what appointments partners can come to these days. Last two hospital appts he’s had to head back to the car. And obviously happy to go in on my own if they are being careful with visitors but it would help to know.

Cakecakecheese · 20/01/2022 07:21

My booking in appointment was so frustrating. They don't know how to date IVF pregnancies and had me down as 7+4. I was 10+3! I had to argue to get her to change it. I'm very anxious as it is due to previous losses so having to start a riot just to get the proper care isn't what I particularly needed!

CoalCraft · 20/01/2022 09:34

@surprised12 Don't worry; don't think I put on any significant weight till halfway through the second trimester with my first, despite being quite slim to begin with. I don't regularly weigh myself but don't think I've put any weight on this time... Maybe in the boob department!

@Meepthesheep Welcome! Do your older kids know? They must be so excited!

@PopGoesBang Yeah care does feel a bit disjointed, doesn't it? Hopefully you'll get to meet your regular midwife soon, and she'll be a goodie! Well done on hoovering - really! Thankfully hoovering has always been DH's job, but most of the other cleaning is still on me ATM

@TimeToResign That is annoying. My epu scans have been very clear that I could bring one person as long as they'd had a negative lateral flow in the last 24 hours. Shame not everywhere is so clear.

@Cakecakecheese Well that is not very reassuring for you! Well done for standing up for yourself though and getting the dates down correctly. As it's an IVF pregnancy, will you be under consultant care? Hopefully they might be a bit more switched on...

PopGoesBang · 20/01/2022 09:45

@Meepthesheep I also have an 8 year old - I have already forgotten most things from her time. It'll be like a first time all over again but with additional 'help' from her!

@TimeToResign Thank you, new meds are definitely letting me see an improvement. Although think I over did it yesterday and was ill last night and very early this morning. Taking it steady today.
Last time although it continued right up to labour I'm hopeful it will improve.

@CoalCraft Think I might have gotten a bit cocky with the hoovering! Need to learn to pace myself and just because it's a 'good' day try not to fit all the rough days work into it! Hey ho, at least the stairs are dog hair free today.
I've been told I have a lovely midwife - one assumes they wouldn't say she was awful! So I look forward to seeing her at some point. Although last time I had a wonderful midwife who happened to be on duty at the hospital just after I had DD and came and said hello, it was nice to feel she got to see the baby in the end! (We'd had an emotional pregnancy for a number of reasons, and I felt she deserved to see the baby it was all worth it for!)
