Any others with similar time like to join to support one another?

Oh and I have the opposite problem to other posters, whilst i've felt hungrier than usual, I honestly can't face food except fruit or salt and vinegar crisps. Anything else makes me want to vom. I struggled 5 mouthfuls of beans and cheese on toast last night as when I thought about it, it was something I really thought I could stomach, but when I made and went to eat it....Envy ...Grin

CoalCraft · 06/01/2022 16:40

@pearldrops04Glad you've got your booking in booked in. No one's mentioned anything to me about DH needing to be present so I assume not? Mine's in the middle of the working day and we work at the same company so would look a bit suspicious if we both dipped out for an appointment.

@Isonthecase @Beth262 Stop, you are both awful!! Grin What I fancy is a greasy battered sausage from the chippy, along with cheesy chips and gravy... Mmmm...

Beth262 · 06/01/2022 17:23

When I had my face to face booking appointment pre-covid with DS, it was just me that needed to be there. I'd imagine with the current situation they'd probably strongly discourage more than just mum to be attending tbh.

Mine is over the phone on 14th.

surprised12 · 06/01/2022 17:44

I think booking in is really just for the mam's. Mine is on the phone too - wish it was in person though!

Littlebutload · 06/01/2022 18:20

Oh god, I don't fancy any food, everything turns my stomach, even the thought of food, I'm so nauseas all the time. Also my sense of smell is gone so strong, I could work as a sniffer dog! Desperately hoping the GP will prescribe some anti nausea tablets tomorrow when I see her. On the positive side i had a private scan today at 7 weeks 4 days and everything looks good, i heard the little heartbeat Smile

Ahhh congratulations on the scan!! What could you see?? I'll be 7+1 for mine on Sunday.
beckybloomwood11 · 06/01/2022 19:10

8 weeks today and the "morning" sickness has really kicked in. Before now I felt a bit nauseous, but today I can't keep anything down. Hopefully this doesn't last the whole pregnancy!

MzMaria · 06/01/2022 19:30

Partners/husbands can join for the booking appointment but don't have to. Its handy to have them close to their phone if you do go alone so if you get stuck on family history on their side you can contact them. I went to my last appointment with my partner and was very happy he was there to answer all the random questions they had when my mind went blank! That said it took over an hour in total from appointment time to leaving.

Isonthecase · 06/01/2022 20:04

Fab news @Littlebutload how exciting!

Father's are optional for booking but they ask about some family history so worth having a vague idea of theirs beforehand. Can't remember exactly what, maybe email and ask?

Mufflette · 06/01/2022 20:05

For those of you that are having booking appointments over the phone, do you have any idea what they do about blood tests etc? I know I need to work out my BMI to tell them but not sure what happens about the rest!

CoalCraft · 06/01/2022 20:08

@Mufflette

My booking in with DC1 was over the phone and they just didn't do bloods, weighing, etc. It was left until the 12 week scan. I think they asked my height and weight though - I had to guess!

She said she'd book me a face to face appointment to come in for bloods - so guess I'll find out on Tuesday
StayWeird · 06/01/2022 20:14

Congratulations on the scan @Littlebutload Smile

I hope those of you suffering from morning sickness find that it eases soon.

I've had some spotting today after dtd, Google suggests that this can just happen sometimes but I'm still worried 🙁 I'm considering phoning the EPU tomorrow if it's still happening but not sure if they'll think I'm over reacting.

My booking in appointment is booked for 29th Jan and the blood test form has been sent to me in the post.

I had a face to face today for bloods, weight and height and carbon monoxide test (definitely new to me!)

Booking appt will be over the phone.

Mufflette · 06/01/2022 21:43

Thanks @CoalCraft @surprised12 @PopGoesBang. I'll just wait and see what she tells me I guess!

Beth262 · 06/01/2022 22:12

Ahh that's lovely @Littlebutload 😊

@StayWeird I'd give EPU a call just for your own piece of mind. A quick chat has to be better than stressing until your scan, right?!

Littlebutload · 06/01/2022 22:57

@surprised12 I saw the sac and the little blob thats the baby. It doesn't look like much really to be honest!

mamaof2girls · 07/01/2022 06:43

I have booked a private scan for in 2 weeks time so al be around 9 weeks. With my other 2 pregnancy's I have always done a scan around 10 weeks and told family after the scan and waited till after 12 weeks before telling anyone else. So excited for this scan specially since having some bleeding this time around but had nothing since the last time. Also with the way stuff is going I never know if they will change the rules on partners aloud in scans so at least with the private he gets to be part off that and also the kids! X

Unsure1010 · 07/01/2022 10:01

Joining in, as I’m 7 weeks today. Apps are all telling me due date is end of August. I’ve registered online with the midwives, but apparently won’t be contacted until between week 8 & 10 to book in. It’s stressing me out a bit, as I feel everything might be delayed a bit. I have booked a private scan for week 8 though, just to put my mind at rest.

This is my second, but honestly, I have never felt so sick in all my life. Just trying to do basic things like wash the dishes and not throw up is becoming a challenge. I didn’t have this with my first and really hoping it passes soon!!

Congrats to everyone else on their amazing news. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking to be going through this again!!

StayWeird · 07/01/2022 10:10

Thanks @Beth262 x

I've phoned the EPU this morning as I'm now experiencing lower back pain and still having some spotting. They advised that the spotting is usually nothing to worry about but the nurse may want to discuss the back pain with me so I'm waiting for a call back.

Just not sure what to do with myself in the meantime. I'm off work today so going to try and find something soothing to watch to try and keep my mind occupied.

I hope everyone else is ok x

Miller2021 · 07/01/2022 10:27

Hi everyone - I'm currently 10 weeks and I have my booking-in appointment over the phone this afternoon.

I was just wondering, a few PPs have mentioned that they ask some family history questions - what sort of things will they ask, please? My husband will be in meetings so it would be good to get everything written down before the appointment if pos.

RP90 · 07/01/2022 10:40

@Miller I can't remember specifically off the top of my head but there was nothing that we didn't know if that makes sense.
Any heart conditions, allergies, genetic conditions etc on either side. How many units of alcohol, do you smoke, things like that.
Hope that helps even a little Smile

CoalCraft · 07/01/2022 11:01

@Unsure1010 Welcome! Sorry to hear your struggling with sickness. You are not alone though!

@StayWeird Hope they don't take too long to get back to you. It is such a worrying time. Try to stay busy xx

Found out today that my brother and sil are also expecting - 13 weeks already! Delighted for them as they had a loss at about 10-11 weeks last year. I'm not actually supposed to know yet though (our grandma spilled the beans...) so can't congratulate them yet.

I really don't want to tell anyone about my pregnancy until after the 12 week scan but it's looking like I may have to tell work soon. Hoping I can just keep it to my manager and one other team member but I'm worried that my manager may have to inform HR as company policy, which would be a pain.

CoalCraft · 07/01/2022 11:05

@Miller2021

On the medical history side I believe they asked about

  • Heart conditions
  • Diabetes
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Premature births
  • Twins / other multiples
  • Birth defects
  • Learning disabilities
  • Hearing / sight impairments

In either side of the family. There may be other things I've forgotten too.

Miller2021 · 07/01/2022 11:26

@RP90 @CoalCraft Thank you so much - that's really useful, I'll check all those things with husband before the appointment.
