@Prema112 how lovely 💚 can't wait to feel even more (although I'm sure I'll be wishing it would back off a bit by the end 😂)

@Lostintranslatio good luck for Tuesday

It feels like time is simultaneously flying by and going really slowly. It's certainly flying by for all the stuff that needs doing to the house! Is anyone else dying to get buying stuff? I think I'll feel happier starting once 20 week scan is done 😊

RoseValleyRambles · 19/12/2021 10:25

Is anyone else stretching to sleep? I think bump is growing, because I've had abdo aches the last few nights. And managed trapped wind last night. Didn't expect this until a little later on at least...

RoseValleyRambles · 19/12/2021 10:36

*struggling

caz198917 · 19/12/2021 11:28

Do we all agree boy? Xx

@caz198917 oh no you peaked!! I would do the same though. Is it a boy or girl?! Grin[/quote]
Boy 💙💙💙

13+4 and morning sickness is raising its head again after a few days grace 😕 had my 2nd covid jab this morning so hoping I don’t suffer to much with side effects. The poor nurses were so lovely and let me sit with them while I had abit of a nervous moment mixed with a sickness episode 🙈 bless them. Hoping to book a private gender scan in for the new year 🤞

ellecf21 · 19/12/2021 17:49

Hi ladies, I've been tentatively following for 2 months. 12 weeks tomorrow and have my first scan and I'm absolutely terrified. I've had a fairly easy pregnancy so far, just sore boobs and food aversions but nothing major. Bit of lower back pain and the odd tugging in my abdo but no idea what's normal or not. If I hadn't taken a pregnancy test I'm not sure I'd know I was pregnant! Anyone else wait until the 12 week scan to see the baby for the first time? Help calm my nerves!!

AlbatrossSociety · 19/12/2021 18:07

Welcome @ellecf21!! I didn't see baby until 12 week scan and did have a couple of moments thinking, is there actually a baby in there!? But there was! And it was very exciting Grin. It's nice because they really look like an actual baby! Good luck and fingers crossed everything goes well for you. Let us know!

@caz198917 definitely think I can see boy bits but I'm absolutely no expert.

We're planning to wait to find out gender but I am very curious!! It's nice seeing you all finding out.

I didn't sleep last night until about 4am! Slept briefly between 10 and 10:30ish but needed a wee and then just could NOT fall asleep. I've got headspace but not calm, wondering if the calm stories are worth switching allegiances for..

PurpleMoon12 · 19/12/2021 18:49

@ellecf21 I waited for the 12 week scan! I didn't have bleeding or scares, so I just waited with crossed fingers and there was a baby!

This is so reassuring and thank you as well @AlbatrossSociety for your post!! I almost don't believe it's really happening at the moment so praying that all goes well tomorrow and there really is a baba in there Smile

Olive60 · 19/12/2021 19:38

@ellecf21 I was exactly the same with my first! I always say if I didn't take I test I wouldn't have known. (A side from the huge bump giving it away!) I had zero symptoms/sickness/soreness all the way through. This pregnancy has been the opposite! Congrats & good luck with your scan ❤

ellecf21 · 19/12/2021 19:52

@Olive60 so good to hear others who have had a similar experience before! It's amazing how different every pregnancy is - I've also had no sickness, maybe a couple of off days very early on but nothing notable. I may not feel that pregnant in my tummy but my boobs definitely do. My DH keeps joking we are expecting twins - one in each boob haha. Thank you, I will let you know how it goes. I'm in at 1.30pm tomorrow Smile hope you are feeling okay and doing well too!

beansprout55 · 19/12/2021 20:55

Has anyone else turned into an over emotional angry hulk beast? I'm sure DH is close to calling me a psycho and I'm scared for him if he does.....

He was saying something I didn't want shared at my parents today so I gently elbowed him to shut him up, he then made the mistake of loudly asking "why did you elbow me?" like a buffoon, for all to hear.
Well, when we left did I bonkers or what.
I'm still annoyed with him. I can't seem to control my emotions or temper at the moment. Really really hoping this passes soon and doesn't get worse. For everybody's sake 😳

DaimDillyDoo · 19/12/2021 21:48

Has anyone been looking at pushchairs? I have no clue what to get Blush

Don't even know where to start!

AlbatrossSociety · 19/12/2021 22:19

@beansprout55 I'm feeling a bit more easily stressed out/sensitive and feel like my husbands probably treading pretty carefully!!

I think the main thing I'm finding hard though is like I just don't feel like I'm very present when I'm with him, always thinking about other things and feeling a bit distracted. I know he's having a bit of a tough time but feel like I don't have space for his feelings as well as mine! I don't know if anyone else is feeling similar.

@DaimDillyDoo also have absolutely no idea where to start with anything. My sister has a 2 Yr old and 1yr old and wants to give us all her stuff but we don't currently have anywhere to put it or know where we'll be living when baby comes!! It's all a bit overwhelming

PleaseSendNoodles · 20/12/2021 01:36

Wow this thread moves so fast! But I’m loving all the sex announcements!

@DaimDillyDoo it’s so overwhelming. My friend just got the Uppababy Vista travel system which looks good and everything but it’s well over A GRAND. Does it really make a difference?!

Lostintranslatio · 20/12/2021 05:16

I'm looking to get a Bugaboo Chameleon, but trying to find a second hand one. I don't feel like it would be wise to make a big investment as I'm not sure if I will have time for a second pregnancy 😕

MrsTwentyNine · 20/12/2021 07:07

15 weeks this Wednesday and I don't have an obvious bump unless I really hold my clothes against it :/ Panicking about this but I know this is because I'm plus size!

Anyone else? Sad

InvisibleDragon · 20/12/2021 08:07

On buggies, I've done a bit of research and I think there are basically 3 main variables:

  • size and weight
  • wheel size
  • ease of folding

It's like one of those triangles (fast, cheap, correct) where you really want all 3 but realistically can only have 2. So something light and small that folds easily into the car boot of a city car will have tiny wheels that jam on anything except smooth flat tarmac. And something with big wheels for rough terrain will either weigh a ton, be extremely bulky, or be a total pain to fold (potentially all of the above).

There are loads of Bugaboo Chameleons and Bees on Facebook marketplace for a very good price - often under £200. There are also Uppababy models on Marketplace but a bit more expensive - the Vista might be about £350. I've also looked for the Babyzen yoyo second hand, but people are cagey about the price and tend to sell the newborn bassinet separately - for about £200! So I think that one's a no-go on a budget - but if you did buy new, you might make a lot of money back.

The other thing about the big travel systems is there are compatible car seats that will clip onto the chassis. I haven't looked into this much because I don't think it's something that I'd use much after the first few weeks.

czycoup · 20/12/2021 08:10

@MrsTwentyNine is this your first? (Sorry if you have said, I haven't been able to keep up with the chat and the usernames).

I'm plus size, this is my 2nd and I have a bump but I'm worried people just think I'm extra big. It doesn't feel too hard so maybe it is extra fat from where I've been eating whatever I can to keep the sickness at bay.

InvisibleDragon · 20/12/2021 08:13

@MrsTwentyNine I'll be 15 weeks on Friday and have no obvious bump either. I look slightly different (basically a bit plumper) but no-one would think I was pregnant to look at me. I think it just varies person to person.

fpeg · 20/12/2021 08:28

@DaimDillyDoo I went to a pram shop with my mum and after a quick and overwhelming look around, a lovely shop assistant took us through it all. Asked what I wanted in terms of where I'll be going with the pram (i.e. staying around town or country strolls) and from there she showed me appropriate ones and demonstrated the various ways they fold up. There was no pressure and we quickly got it down to a choice of two, then I went back with OH and we chose the one we wanted. They also took us through car seats. There was zero pressure to buy and I was able to go away and conduct a bit of online research with my narrowed down selection. We also went to mamas and papas and had pretty much the same experience, really helpful bloke and he added in getting us to test drive pushing them over bumps in the shop so that we could get an idea of what going up and down curbs would be like. (Second guy we saw at M&P was on a sales mission for one particular pram so we walked away). TLDR speak to the guys in the shops, we found it super helpful and now know what we'll be ordering when the time comes.

mrkb · 20/12/2021 09:04

@MrsTwentyNine I'm 16 weeks and still don't have a visible bump! It's my first so I think that's pretty normal. I have a friend who's super slim and at 24 weeks looked slimmer than I ever have - I just think all bodies are different so don't worry :)

unknownscot · 20/12/2021 09:08

@DaimDillyDoo
As per @fpeg - definitely head to a shop. In Glasgow we have a shop that has different paths/terrains made up so you can try the prams on them all and get a feel of them.

It's definitely worth trying them out and seeing them in person as online you have no idea about weight etc.

I've only looked online so far, like the look of the Joie Versatrax but don't have a clue if I'll like it in person.

Car seat wise I'm 100% getting the Joie 360 - all my friends have it and swear by it!

X

@InvisibleDragon’s round up above is excellent. Size is a really important thing to consider, I found. We live in a city and don’t have a car so I knew I’d be on public transport a lot. Some buggies are enormous and clearly meant for people with cars (with substantial boots), as God knows how you get them on a bus. Height was also an issue for us. I found Bugaboo and Babyzen Yoyo really low and didn’t fancy the extra strain on my back bending over to pick the baby up a million times a day. We went for the Uppababy Cruz in the end, because the bassinet was breathable and so could be used as a Moses basket, which meant one less thing to buy (not all newborn attachments are - do check). Nice and solid too and the storage underneath was a godsend - even when I had my little boy in a sling, I tended to take the buggie as it was so helpful re all the stuff you take with you, and could even fit a rather substantial grocery shop! I’m pretty sure second hand models would be in good shape, but while I bought most things second hand I bought the buggie new as I wanted the warranty. Buggie is something you use a lot - often all day every day - so if anything is worth the investment, it’s this. That said, I hired a lovely lightweight Babyzen Yoyo when my little boy was six months and we went travelling for a month and it was gloriously light and convenient, but I’m still glad we went for the Uppababy, as it was totally bomb proof.
