Excited to hear good news 💗

Yep my 36 week scan is tomorrow 😩😩😩 HOW!!!

kaylsd · 30/12/2021 08:53

@bez91 @clolo @blackcurrantqueen good luck with your up coming scans ladies! 🤞🏻🤞🏻❤️

Thank you for all your well wishes, I wasn't very hopeful about it all with the amount of bleeding I have but turns out my bodies just abit of a tinker than it being something serious at the moment 🥺 I hope everyone's okay xxx

@feliznavidad2 glad to hear your scan went well yesterday too hunny ❤️

Kate105 · 30/12/2021 09:15

Fabulous scan news @kaylsd @feliznavidad2 looking forward to more lovely updates today!

Yeah the knicker watching doesn't stop @Minster2012 @bez91 😂 except it does slowly move towards any signs of mucus plug/labour and suddenly you find yourself desperate for gunky knickers 😂

TSD has decided that 5:30am is the perfect wake up time, especially after having woken up for his last feed at 4:30am 👍🏻 cheers lad! On the other hand we had a small victory yesterday in that he slept with one hand out of his swaddle last night and didn't have a meltdown 🥳 trying to wean him off the swaddle because he's starting to roll the wee bastard

Minster2012 · 30/12/2021 09:30

@Kate105 great I look forwards to looking out for gunky knickers, this pregnancy lark is fun isn't it. NOT. Ahhhh the early wakes, you'll get over it then it will be back, as a cycle, until about age 3! Sorrrrrrryyyyy (that's if he's not murdered you first of course)

@kaylsd so it turns out our bodies like to keep us on our toes throughout TTC then into pregnancy & beyond. Prepping us for the baby afterwards I guess 😂

@blackcurrantqueen so soon!!

@feliznavidad2 long as baby is happy then take it 😂😂I need to lose some weeks too 🤪

So much exciting stuff coming up

@clolo eeeeekkk do you have any preference at all?

@clolo that's perfectly understandable just a happy baby we'll take!

paintfairy · 30/12/2021 10:00

@bez91 @clolo @blackcurrantqueen Good luck with the scans coming up! I'm in 2 minds if to go for an extra one to put my mind at ease.

I've had a headache for 3 days now too and it's really annoying me. Is that normal? Usually I would take ibuprofen but obviously can't, and paracetamol is not really helping. It's faded a few times but keeps coming back. I woke up with it today. 🙄

larrythelizard · 30/12/2021 10:18

I think anything can happen when pregnant @paintfairy - are you drinking enough water?

Exciting @clolo, look forward to hearing the outcome!

I think bleeding in early pregnancy is way more common than I realised @kaylsd - my only experience of it was that bleeding = not good so I'm very pleased to learn of other things that aren't an issue!

You think thats annoying @Kate105 - in the park yesterday DS decided to comment on the speed of all the joggers very loudly - "look mummy, running quickly, look mummy, running slowly". On repeat. He obv thought most of them were going slowly 🤦🏻‍♀️

whatwonder · 30/12/2021 10:43

congrats on the scan @feliznavidad2, looks like baby is an over achiever already! :)

good luck with scans today @bez91 and @clolo !

I also do a knicker check every time I go to the toilet, can't stop myself. Had my "16" week MW appointment today (at 17+4) and got to hear the heartbeat on the doppler which was great, definitely a relief to hear that sweet sound! Brought DH with me but he was only allowed in to listen to the heartbeat then got kicked out for the rest of the appt (we were in a small room so MW said it's policy to not let partners in except for the doppler bit). Think he's not going to bother coming with me to future appointments except the anatomy scan. Anyone else in the same boat?

@Minster2012 have you got a bump yet?

whatwonder · 30/12/2021 10:45

@paintfairy headaches are just one of the many delightful treats we get to look forward to as pregnant people. Are you drinking enough water- could be from dehydration? I've got a peppermint oil roller thingy I use when I get headaches, I find it really helpful.

Vil10 · 30/12/2021 10:55

@paintfairy @Minster2012 glad it isn't just me!! I think because my cm has increased so much I'm always thinking it's blood!!

@paintfairy aww I'm so glad it went well telling your mum! Lovely!! I'm the same with the headache too, keep waking up feeling a bit out of it and dizzy!

@kaylsd so happy for you thst the scan went well and hopefully it'll put your mind at ease about the bleeding❤️

@feliznavidad2 yayyy so happy!! And measuring ahead too! Amazing!!

@bez91 @clolo good luck ladies❤️❤️

@whatwonder so glad you got to hear the heartbeat!! Isn't it a lovely sound🥺 obviously I've only experienced our private early scan and OH was allowed in for the full thing but that wasn't an nhs one so I'm not sure how they'll be with us here, I'll keep you updated though!

So girls, I'm being an irrational worrier, shock🙄 but realised I couldn't see the yolk sac on my scan pics, I know it's ridiculous because there was a mouse/lizard looking baby in there, with a good heartbeat and measuring exact but I just can't see the yolk sac🤔 was anyone else's scan pics the same? I know its very hard to see clearly and make things out on early ones

whatwonder · 30/12/2021 11:01

@clolo aw I'm sorry. I'm sure you'll be able to hear it at the private scan today, I had a private scan at 10 weeks and that's when I first got to hear the heartbeat (which sounded more like a train going through a tunnel than anything else haha) the one today on the doppler sounded more like what I expected it to sound like.

@Vil10 tbh I didn't even think to look for the yolk sac at my early scan (I had one at an EPU because I had a bleed). The scan photo you posted looks great, I really wouldn't worry about the yolk sac, if there were any issues with it, you would have been told about it. Plus you'll only have that for a few more weeks then the placenta will take over!

whatwonder · 30/12/2021 11:03

also @kaylsd congrats on your scan! Has it sunk in a bit more now?

and @Kate105 sorry you're having a rough go with sleeping, but I have to say your posts always crack me up! Grin hopefully bubs will learn soon that 7:30 is a much better time to wake up than 5:30!

paintfairy · 30/12/2021 11:20

@Vil10 because it was an ivf scan, she purposely took a photo of my yolk sac. So I do have one. However, you can't see it on the photo of the baby. And on the yolk sac photo one no idea where the baby is. So o wouldn't worry!
@whatwonder @clolo I think it's a piss take that you can take people into private scans but not nhs ones. How is that even logical? The guidance on my hospital stuff appears contradictory, so I'm going to take DH and hope he can come in. The midwife 16 week appointment- i booked face to face at my 9 week one and nothing was said. For my 9 week one the letter did say you can bring someone with you but whether that meant actually in with you, I'm not sure. There was no benefit to DH being there though and I didn't take him. At the next one if they listened to the heart beat then out would be nice if he could be there. But I really have no idea what they will do at that appointment? 🤷‍♀️

I made DH give me a massage. I do wonder if my head issue is partly for to my neck and upper back. It was good. But unfortunately doesn't appear to be able to happen without him then getting over excited and wanting sex. So I'm not sure I end up that relaxed in the end. 🙄🤣

whatwonder · 30/12/2021 11:28

@paintfairy they'll go over the results of your blood tests (the ones you take at your first appointment) plus go over your screening results with you in person if relevant. Then do the standard stuff (blood pressure, check urine, etc.), do the doppler to check heartbeat (if you're at a clinic/location that has that equipment) and then will give you an opportunity to ask any questions. And then book you in for your 20 week scan if you haven't already, as well as your next MW appointment. This is the "standard" protocol for the 16 week appointment, it might be different based on your individual circumstances or where you live (might be different in Scotland for example). The reasoning my MW gave for not letting OH in the room for the whole appointment is that the room was tiny, so with Covid protocols wanted to limit number of people in the space, but she let him in when we listened to the heartbeat, which was nice.

kaylsd · 30/12/2021 11:33

@minster2012 our bodies love playing up and causing us to be nervous wrecks, oh the joys! Just trying to be positive saying things can only get better.. she says 🤣😘
@kate105 I feel like we should be all part of a knicker checking society because every time I’m going to the toilet it’s like a anxious sigh to wipe these days 🤣 I can’t wait for the anxious ones to change into excited one when the gunk is present with the sounds!
@paintfairy your headaches may be due to the influx of hormones maybe? I hope it settles soon 🤞🏻
@larrythelizard I never actually realised how common it was, it’s reassuring that things are in a better picture than they first was for me! How have you been getting along? I hope things are well 😘
@vil10 try not to worry about the yolk sack thing sweet it may have just been the position of your little bean may have been slightly hiding it, I’m sure because it’s all snuggly and heartbeat was nice and strong for you everything’s is cooking fine for you 😘
@whatwonder it has settled in a slightly bit more now, I think it’ll settle more when we finally tell our families on NYE most importantly my mum as she’s a primary school teacher and absolutely adores children and my brothers said to her from day one he doesn’t want kids so I’m the only chance of letting her become a nana 🥺 I think I may just sob when she finds out, I’ll be bringing in the jumbo kitchen roll in to mop the tears up 🤣

TMI but my boobs are just awful looking now, I feel like they have just become two giant nipples 🤣 just thought I’d drop that one in there I was aware they get bigger but sheeeshhh I wish I took a before pic so I could remember normal looking boobs 👀

So glad to be back checking in with my knicker checking society girls now I feel in a better place, going to be ringing care Sheffield next week and cancelling our referral and running with the wind with this little miracle hoping for the best as I'd hate to be holding up appointments for anyone who may need it 🥺❤️

bez91 · 30/12/2021 13:04

@paintfairy I had really bad hormonal headaches for a couple of week. It could be that? Paracetamol also doesn't help me it's always ibuprofen so had to battle through. Hopefully it will pass soon just rest and maybe the sex/massage will help? 😆

@whatwonder glad you both got to hear the heartbeat 😊 I took DH for the 16 week one but I don't think I will for the others. He wants to come to the growth scans I have to have. It makes me laugh at my hospital - all women in one room and men in another like the Victorian era 😂

@Vil10 I think like @clolo on the yolk sac it just depends on the angle so I wouldn't worry 👍🏼

@kaylsd snap on the boob situation 😆 I barely have boobs but woahhh the nipples, they're dangerous

Thanks ladies ☺️
Scan all done, measuring 20+5 as expected and everything looking ok so we're elated. We were there 3 hours as the baby was so bloody awkward. The sonographer was fantastic, we'd explained about DDs heart defect missed on the 20 week scan so she spent ages looking and showing us all the workings of the heart and it all looked good! I had an odd urine sample so they just need to check that out and the consultant is happy to just do growth scans from 28 weeks. We both got in the car and breathed a huge sigh of relief that we can actually now believe a baby will likely come home with us.
DH being hilarious...Oh yeah it's a boy... look at the size of his 🍆 it is quite a penis looking leg tbf 😆 still team yellow 💛 not sure if I might have seen a little wanger though by accident 🙈

Minster2012 · 30/12/2021 13:13

@larrythelizard I totally agree on the bleeding and hearing bad things only, ha ha loving your DS commenting on the runners

@paintfairy, if it goes and comes back it's often a rebound headache, try drink a coffee, find the saltiest crisps you can & eat & keep sipping water and try eat salty food. I'd mention to my midwife too. I woke up with a headache again this morning and just ate a salty bacon brunch

Awwww the Doppler is so nice @whatwonder, my DH hasn't come to any of my MW appointments. I do have a bump now, here's from Boxing Day which was 19 weeks, 20 this weekend, still only small for now but I feel my tummy scars stretching so I think it's def popping. My DH was allowed into my nhs scan & is next week too but the only time we've heard the heartbeat is the midwife Doppler

@Vil10 I checked myself yesterday cos I felt very wet, but was just discharge 😂I shall have a look at my 8 week scan & have a look but they were very happy with the cashew so I think it's perfect I'm with @whatwonder on try to not worry

@kaylsd eeeek cancelling the ivf referral means it's real!! It's def real! Yeahhhhh!!! And telling family oh so sweet it'll be great and lots of crying I'm sure all round

@bez91 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳❤️❤️❤️❤️look at that gorgeous picture and yes what a 🍆😂😂so pleased it was a great scan and you got reassurance on the heart too yesss!!

Omg the boobs @kaylsd. Mine went through a change again recently where they had grown to looking "big and firm and therefore pert" and the other night I said to DH "god now my boobs have dropped lower & now look like mum boobs" 😩with huge nipples on them but the scale is like pears now?? Isn't it weird the changes our bodies do

paintfairy · 30/12/2021 13:27

@Minster2012 I reckon it's a tension headache. But I'll try the salt! And drinking. And I look fatter than you do, but I think maybe I just am fatter anyway. 🙈🤣 Which is a concern for later.....
@whatwonder that's late to be going over blood tests isn't it, if something was wrong? I live in England BTW.
@bez91 brilliant pic! I don't know, I know people that have thought that before and its not a boy at all? Personally I can never tell how they can make anything out from blurry strange images anyway. 🤣

Lexber · 30/12/2021 14:17

Hey guys!

I feel like I've been AWOL - I've been reading when I can trying to keep up but between work and the kids and Christmas and illness in the house I'm exhausted oh and the babies... 🤣
I feel like a whale now, 21+1 but look and wobble like I'm full term. Struggling to get comfy when working so need to seriously think about what I'm doing work/maternity wise in the coming months as 16 weeks to go until 37 weeks now ... eeek!!

Youngest tested positive on LFT this morning so had to shut her away and book her a PCR for tomorrow. Family we saw Boxing Day have tested positive since then so we have been waiting for it! Doesn't make it any easier as she is autistic so I'm going with the rules she has to stick to and hopefully that will help. Oh is driving me nuts worrying/dithering and generally being an annoying dickhead - I'm triple vaccinated so if I get it I get it but I'm being careful and will avoid her as best I can!
OH had covid be good the month and seems to have been ill on/off since with colds, sore throat and now what looks to be an eye infection and we all know what men are like when ill... dramatic! I don't think I've slept properly since October 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I still knicker check now!
It's so nice to see lots of great scans and good news! Definitely made me smile when I'm feeling really shitty and like shutting myself away for a few days! Xx

Vil10 · 30/12/2021 15:04

@whatwonder @clolo @paintfairy @kaylsd @Minster2012 @bez91 Thankyou for the reassurance ladies!! I know it's ridiculous because surely there wouldn't be a healthy heartbeat without a yolk sac and surely they would've mentioned something but it was just something I thought oh shit I can't see it, panic over😂

@paintfairy my OH gets so annoyed with me asking for massages all the time so over the years he's bought me different massage tools, this Christmas it was a mat that does everything so I don't ask😂 also sex after a massage is a must isnt it??

@kaylsd the boobs😂 mine are just tender still, they haven't grown I don't think and they don't feel swollen, they're just sore, and my nipples are stingy!

@bez91 ohhh look at that lovely scan!! And the leg definitely looks like a questionable size penis😂😂so glad you got reassurance of the heart too!! So happy for you🥰

@Minster2012 isn't it crazy how much discharge we create especially now🤯 also you look fab!!

@Lexber oh god the covid household doesn't sound found and I bet you're knackered!! I hope your DD doesn't feel too ill and 🤞🏼 you don't catch it either!!

So OH has gone to an away game today, kick off isn't until later so I've had the whole afternoon to chill, spending it with a brew, a warm pain au chocolat and watching Emily in Paris the first season! Picked up a pepperoni pizza for my tea for later too and I cannot wait!! I cannot believe it's NYE tomorrow already!! With our plans for going to the lakes not happening now, we decided a chilled night in was the next best thing, I've found I've been knackered by like 6/7, and with people not knowing about the pregnancy we couldn't exactly be going out, OH is out sll day today and was on Boxing Day so he isn't bothered about not going our and celebrating either which is a bonus! I really didn't want to be cooking tomorrow so we've got a nye special marks and Spencer's night in meal with sticky toffee pudding for dessert and a bottle of nosecco for me, and honestly I cannot wait😂🥳what's everyone else's plans for tomorrow??
