Posting an update while I have my phone handy. So I had a gel pessary induction at 6.30pm Boxing Day and soon after my husband had to leave (at 8pm) the waters typically broke (flooded with meconium 😬) I had only been given paracetamol and had my TENS machine at the time and was on a shared ward, husband at home so no one for support. The pain become so unbearable I was begging to be moved to the labour suite and demanding an immediate epidural 😅 I had an undignified wheel chair journey to the labour ward spilling meconium waters all along the corridor and in the lifts. As soon as I was in the labour suite I got gas and air though and that was fine for me it helped so much. Husband rushed in by 1am. Baby was here by about 5am! He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz so they were well off with the over 8 lbs estimate! I'm only 5'2 so he was still a struggle to push out and had to get a little episiotomy. Managed with gas and air though and thankfully they didn't need to use forceps or anything!

Not long after they realised I was loosing too much blood and the placenta wouldn't come out an hour later so I was soon rushed to theatre and knocked out to have blood transfusions, placenta removed and they just did the the stitches there too. Husband was left holding our little guy for an hour worried. I wasn't too panicked as my mum had the same placenta issue with me so I knew it was a possibility beforehand. Still a bit scary of course as the doctor said there was a small chance they could have to remove the womb!

They've kept me in to keep an eye on me and I'm still stuck to the bed with a catheter but otherwise doing fine!

I can say the induction was a success for me at least and give anyone else some hope who may have to get one. I think they didn't listen to me at first as most women take days for it to kick in so probably thought I was being overdramatic at first 😂 but I was 5cm when they moved me to the suite.

paintfairy · 27/12/2021 17:31

@2020mission is that why they wanted to induce you? Because they thought he was big? So often they do get it wrong but then I guess you don't know until its too late! I can't believe how fast it was? Usually inductions are slow. So that was pretty good going. Well impressed you managed with gas and air (I had it for my arm and it did naff all). The placenta part sounds less fun but I'm glad everything is OK! Do you have some names shortlisted?

Kate105 · 27/12/2021 17:44

Ahhhhhhhh congratulations @2020mission what a dote! 💙💙💙

Minster2012 · 27/12/2021 19:14

Oh wow @2020mission great he came quickly & DH was there, he sounds a lovely size but bit scary about the placenta 😬

larrythelizard · 27/12/2021 21:09

That sounds pretty good for a birth @2020mission, nice and quick but not too quick! So pleased your H was there for it in plenty of time. Hope you're allowed home soon x

Haiyaa · 27/12/2021 21:32

Just popping on to say that’s great news on the scan @Vil10, and a massive congratulations to @2020mission on the birth of that gorgeous little chunk!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Crazydoglady123 · 27/12/2021 22:45

@Minster2012 I feel like I've popped now though! Omg, your OH phone on insta 😱

@paintfairy so pleased you managed Xmas day with the nausea! Little wins! I deffo need a few days between birthdays 😅

@2020mission congratulations on your little boy! He's gorgeous 💙 I hope you're not feeling too sore and manage to get some rest!

bez91 · 28/12/2021 07:28

Congratulations @2020mission he's lovely 🥰 glad it all happened relatively quickly in the end and DH was there. Hopefully all is well and you can come home today 😊 enjoy those newborn snuggles and take it easy with the stitches

@Minster2012 are you feeling any better today?

@DKDK123 enjoy your break away with DH that sounds lovely!

@Crazydoglady123 you look amazing 🤩 what a gorgeous bump. Hopefully not long for you now

Back to work tomorrow so day of sorting planned 😫 DH already back at work so not sure how helpful 4yo will be taking the Christmas tree down

Kate105 · 28/12/2021 08:18

Nooooooo @bez91 it's far too early to take down the tree!

Fell asleep bolt upright in bed last night trying to wind TSD... woke up an hour later with him flat out on my shoulder, lightly bathed in his own sick. Ahhhh newborn snuggle bliss 😍😂

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 08:28

Ahhhhh the old "eau de puke" @Kate105 it's a lovely scent for Xmas or any time!

Also contemplating taking the tree down @bez91 as it's one of the few days DH around, not sure I can do it to myself though. I'm feeling ok so far thank you, yesterday was dead to the world for most of the afternoon. I'm trying smaller meals in case that does my bowels in 🤞🏻

@Crazydoglady123 well I think it's only right to pop out at this stage 😂, yeah & he's away tonight from the afternoon til 30th night so so f be any contact 🙄

Not too long for these scans coming up

paintfairy · 28/12/2021 11:55

I feel like my scan is ages away. 😭
I also have a weird pain and wondered if it was normal? Location wise it's erm, above the top of my pubic hair line, but below the crease under my belly? Where pants would sit maybe. And to the right hand side (if I'm looking down at myself) probably a third of the way round from midway (belly button) to the point of my hip. So still at the front but just not in the middle.
Its not a sharp pain and it feels more surface as opposed to like right inside. But its tender to touch, even lightly. And if I press harder (not too hard though) it feels bruised almost? Only it can't be. 🤷‍♀️ Had it a few days now at least.

@Crazydoglady123 yeah I was proper stressed about it! 🤣 So I'm glad it wasn't awful.
@Minster2012 erm, I think the phone is definitely broke! 🤦‍♀️ I often take the tree down fast but it does seem a little bit soon yet! I don't like it up past new year though. @bez91

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 14:23

See we have guests on the 2nd Jan so I'm thinking keeping decs up until then but that's the only reason why @bez91 @paintfairy. Also on the pain @paintfairy I get that a lot & it's the ligaments so all good

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 17:06

May have just spent xmas money on bump leggings, jeans, jumper dresses & bits 😬
Also spent a small fortune on my face pants in bigger to accommodate my growing arse 😂

whatwonder · 28/12/2021 17:21

Hi everyone! sorry I've been MIA for a while, was in Portugal over Christmas, so have spent the past week eating and chasing after my nieces.

I've not gone through and read everything I missed, will try to do that but might struggle responding as there's quite a lot!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! Huge congrats @2020mission he is absolutely gorgeous! Hope you're doing well, how are you feeling?

paintfairy · 28/12/2021 17:31

@Minster2012 see- reading about it, I get a sharp (really hurts) pain on the left side when I sneeze. Although I think I even did before this. The pain on the right has got worse but it is constant? It does feel like a really tight muscle would though to touch, pain wise. Just sore and tender. I didn't think it happened this early though? My thighs really high up and bum have been hurting on and off though. I don't think traipsing through the mud is helping. New clothes sound good! I have actually ordered some jeans myself (I think this will be a problem sooner rather than later) in the sale and I'm hoping they fit! My arse has always struggled in pants. I did get some of those next ones though the other week - short style, and those are ok. I need more though. I do find on many that the gussets aren't very wide? Which is fine for normal use but not when you'll be needing pads!

Vil10 · 28/12/2021 18:01

@feliznavidad2 @Crazydoglady123 @Minster2012 Thankyou ladies!! I read you can't start with it early too and typical as soon as I was aware of it I feel like I've started itching more but I think it's all in my head! My GP weren't open today so I'm going to try tomorrow!

@2020mission ohhh look at him!!! Congratulations lovely!! So glad DH was there and he came quickly, not so great about the placenta but glad you're both doing okay❤️

@Minster2012 you deserve to buy some bits!! Treat yourself and that growing bump!! OH's parents were made up and so overwhelmed!! Both sets of parents are so so happy, it makes me emotional!

@paintfairy I often get little pains when I sneeze or cough but Minster reassured me it was round ligament pain, I had them before my early scan too and with the scan being all well I presume it's fine! Pains and discomfort can be worrying though so I understand your concern!!

So just had a little worried moment, so I'm 8+3 and we had sex yesterday and this morning, anyway been busy all day packing stuff away, dog came upstairs and he was in the way so I've picked him up and he was a little heavy so put him back down anyway was out of breath like I have been doing stuff recently and I felt a little sick, about 30 mins later I went to the toilet and there was the teeniest amount of blood in my cm, loads of cm, I had to hold it up to the light to see it properly because I just noticed a tinge of it, anyway 2 wipes and it weren't there anymore, I'm not sure if it was from sex but we had sex early this morning or whether I've done some damage? I'm trying not to worry because I'm not in any kind of pain and it wasn't proper blood or even any kind of amount, but you know what it's like at this stage!!

whatwonder · 28/12/2021 18:23

@paintfairy that deffo sounds like round ligament pain, I also get those types of pain when I sneeze or cough and it started fairly early. Your uterus is having to do a lot of work expanding right now!

@Vil10 that sounds like it’s just a normal cervical response from having sex and doing all the moving etc. I wouldn’t worry about it (easier said than done I know!) if you’re still seeing it in a few days you can always ring 111/epu. Congrats on your scan btw and lovely hearing about you telling your family ☺️

@whatwonder Thankyou! Yes I thought if I keep an eye on it tonight and tomorrow and the next couple of days, if it happens again I'll ring but you be honest I feel like it's just irritation, it was that tiny I don't think it's anything to be worried about!! Hope you had a lovely Christmas in Portugal!!

@clolo I did think it could be to do with sex and it was just a bit delayed, especially doing it twice in 2 days! I think that's what mine is, just a little bit of irritation!! Thankyou!

My mum rang me today and said she's dying to start buying things but knows she has to wait until I'm a little further along bless her think she's more excited than me😂 she then asked if it would be okay, when it comes to choosing what we want, if her and my dad could buy the pram, I obviously said it was way too expensive and didn't expect her to but she said she's always wanted to buy her daughters their first child's first pram and she'd love to, fair to say she had me tearing up listening to her talking about it all and how excited she is🥺

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 19:07

Not FACE pants of course (however funny that might be!) fave pants

@whatwonder hope you've had a lovely time & felt ok

@paintfairy yes it's a gusset issue more than the arse I think, as on my fanny is eating my pants. OMG it's my huge fanny again!! 😂😂the pain will def be things changing, if it's actually painful all the time then I'd talk to the midwife to check

@Vil10 it's likely a bit of cervical erosion from the sex & the increased blood flow, and it's nothing to worry about, I'm so pleased they are all so happy for you and your mum offering to buy the pram, so lovely 🥰

I haven't bought any bits for baby yet, except a second hand item with diggers on I found the week before our gender scan, but I am going to buy some bits in the sale def. I saw this in joules today and was like 😬😬😬but walked away with my pants 😂

becarefuloutthere · 28/12/2021 19:13

@2020mission congratulations 🥳 so gorge! Wow on the birth story, hope you're recovering well xx
@Vil10 aw your mum sounds cute 🥰 she sounds a bit like my mum with wanting to buy her daughters their wedding dresses. My sister and I got married in the same year 😱 but she still did it, bless her. The pink cm defo sounds like cervix irritation from the sex, I think you only need to get spotting/bleeding checked out. xx

bez91 · 28/12/2021 19:34

@Vil10 I had some itching around about the same time as you. Best to just keep an eye on it I think, mine did subside after a few days. The slight blood could be your cervix that's just slightly irritated. Oh that's so lovely of your mum, so sweet of her to ask 🥰 my MIL was a knob and didn't ask and just went out and bought us one. DH told her to take it back, not that we weren't grateful but she's overbearing like that and it's something we wanted to choose together.

@Minster2012 I am having pant problems. I bought a size up (a size I've never worn before so you start to think arggggh) but they're starting to dig in me 🤦🏼‍♀️ we went shopping yesterday but I was less than impressed with the baby stuff they had on offer, it was all naff

Kate105 · 28/12/2021 20:01

Ahhhh @Minster2012 I'm so glad you clarified I've been trying to work out what face pants are for the last 10 mins 😂 had basically convinced myself that because I didn't have any face pants through pregnancy that's the reason why TSD is such an arse... Usual trick today of being an absolute joy with the in laws, whereas this morning he was a disgusting human being all morning. To the point where I put him down on his play mat and walked away to calm down, only to come back and find him properly chilled out and having a grand old time by himself. So basically he was upset because I was there 😂🙈 I thought that didn't happen until teenage years?!

If I don't post on here for 48hours I've definitely been murdered by him. I've probably got, what, two years before he could have the wherewithal to bury me in the back garden?!

larrythelizard · 28/12/2021 20:26

Oh I'd love to have the tree down @bez91 but DH called me a grinch so got to wait until after New Years.

I just think there's so much stretching and hokey cokey going on in there @paintfairy that it could be anything. Sneezing hurts me a bit, I think round ligamenty.

I read your post three times and couldn't work out what face pants were @Minster2012 I thought you were needing new bigger face masks or something!

Huge fanny might be an advantage for giving birth @Minster2012?!

I had crazy itching when pregnant with DS @Vil10 - they thought it was ICP but turned out to be a egg allergy. Dr OK'd me to have antihistamines (told me to not tell the pharmacist they were for me) - so speaking to the Dr might be an option for you.

It's likely to just be the sex @Vil10 but if you're concerned, get yourself to the EPU - don't sit and worry about it.

They say something like babies are the biggest shits to the people they love the most because they feel the safest @Kate105...maybe not worth killing him over?!

New low for me - had to ask DH to decant his chocolates as the rustling of the packet made me think I was going to vom!

This pregnancy is deffo different to DS - boobs not gone massive and not as sore (getting more sore though), constipation and vicious nausea on and off through the whole day as well as being exhausted. With DS my boobs went HUGE and I had low level nausea all the time. Madness! Back at the gym tomorrow and dreading it!

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 20:36

Checking in in the bath (with my new bath pillow, I'd recommend one!) @Kate105 I think less than 2 years before he can bury you, I mean technically he will be able to dig with his hands from just after they can sit up, they teach them these life skills in baby classes by having you sit them in Rice Krispies for a "sensory experience" but really it's so they can learn to bury you. Soz! I'd it could be you didn't have any face pants 😂

@bez91 it's really sweet you & DH wanted to choose the pram together, my DH just left me to it, totally see your point about MIL just going and buying it but no one ever offered to buy us one 😩we bought our pram second hand even for DS & have saved it. I have also bought a size up that I've never worn before, thank god I just tried them they fit (probs not for long though). I'm very tempted by a lot in the Boden & Frugi sales, trying to be good until after next scan

I had my oncology call the other day and am due my 6th monthly scans which involve a neck ultrasound, a chest Ct & abdominal MRI so I decided with my consultant that I won't do the scans til after baby is here (so then over a year between scans likely) as I wouldn't undertake treatment even if it showed anything. It scares me rotten but it's the right thing. My consultant wants my placenta retained by the birth hospital and be dissected and checked for tumours & sent me an extra letter to pass onto them saying that so I need to discuss that at my appointment the day after my scan 😬heavy stuff but another reason it's better for a planned c section so the huge fanny isn't really a help for that @larrythelizard 😂😂

Wait you had to ask DH to decant just chocolates @larrythelizard what?!!
