@Minster2012 reading "text your midwife" makes me jealous 😂 can't imagine having someone available to text for advice! Today was another midwife I'd never met before. I won't miss the maternity chaos

DKDK123 · 23/12/2021 04:47

@Vil10 hand hold for the scan today, sorry to hear your announcement isn't going to plan but your mum is going to be thrilled regardless of how you tell her. You could keep it till Christmas but I think you'll be too bursting with excitement from the scan it'll be written all over your face and you'll be wanting to tell her today. Why not facetime your sister so she can watch your mums reaction too, just say you're facetiming so she can be in on the birthday celebrations while your mum opens her cards/pressys.

larrythelizard · 23/12/2021 05:25

Wishing you good luck for today @Vil10 xxx

feliznavidad2 · 23/12/2021 07:23

Yes lots of luck for today @Vil10 will be thinking of you x

Vil10 · 23/12/2021 08:17

@Minster2012 oh that sounds like a good day🤞🏼

@2020mission oh god that's so annoying!! Why are they so unreliable!! You literally accommodate them just for them to not turn up or do the job right!!

@DKDK123 good idea!! We're going to see how the scan goes and then decide from there! I feel more calm about the situation not going to plan now, I think it was just the initial upset of it not going right and then the worry about the scan on top! I feel okay now, you're right, she'll be ecstatic no matter how she's told!

@larrythelizard @feliznavidad2 Thankyou so much!! Unfortunately it isn't until 2:30 so it'll be a late update but I'll try and get on and update you all as soon as I can!!

becarefuloutthere · 23/12/2021 08:26

@Minster2012 £90 isn't bad for 4 hours work! I need to move up north! Hope you got free and your munch on 😋
@Vil10 so sorry to hear about your family catching covid and plans changing! My sil caught it to for the second time and now we can't go out for mil 70th tomorrow! We're meant to be round there's boxing day too but I'm not keen...I did get boosted yesterday but still, risky innit! Just read the next update with more changes, hope you work it all out! Good luck for the scan! Xx
@clolo hope your migraine has passed now?
@Crazydoglady123 hi 👋🏾 good luck with the home remedies!
@2020mission great news on the sweep! 👏🏾 I hope this kick starts it all now, how exciting! Aw it's a shame your midwives keep changing, that would drive me mad! I can text mine too but she only works twice a week lol so I have to only have issues on weds n thurs or else I'm getting a response from someone I don't know!

Minster2012 · 23/12/2021 08:27

Hello from screaming toddler house, where DS is screaming at me "I don't want you in my house, i won't okay with you, I only like daddy, I hate you!" After DH has the audacity to go out & walk the dogs & not sit with him for breakfast & me go out so this day is starting well 😂

@Vil10 & @Lexber thinking of you both

@2020mission yeah I think I'm very lucky here having face to face midwife apps with the same one, and there's her I can text & the whole team as well available on instant messenger so I'm really lucky

@paintfairy how's the head is it better?

bez91 · 23/12/2021 08:58

Hi ladies, sorry been MIA. Felt a bit mentally checked out these last few days. Still been reading and watching. The first and only item we’ve ordered for baby arrived on Monday (DD chose as she loves giraffes) and its had the opposite effect and made me feel anxious again 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s lovely though!

@kaylsd glad to see everything was ok at EPU, great news!

@2020mission that all sounds like good progress, really hope he arrives here of his own accord. Any progress today?

@paintfairy I had a couple of weird vision issues about the same stage as you. I think it's hormones opposed to later on when it could indicate something more serious. Just keep an eye on it and see the midwife/GP if it continues I think

@Vil10 gutted for you for your plan for you mum but exactly she’ll be happy however she’s told! Hope all goes well today, will be thinking of you.

Christmas politics winding me off the clock. Anyone else? MIL is badgering us when we go over (50 miles away but actually staying with FIL for Christmas as she's a pain in the arse) to call in and see X, call in and see Y, call in and see Z. No, we're travelling over there if they want to see us they can go to MILs which is max 5 miles away for them and I'm not traipsing DD everywhere on Xmas eve when we're not arsed about seeing them in the first place as we never do normally. I've got 20 week scan on 30th and the last thing we want to do is miss it if we contract C from people we don't even like or want to see 😆🤦🏼‍♀️

Minsters Sidecar Bumping Along - ttc graduates thread 4
Kate105 · 23/12/2021 09:14

Ah that's a crap one @bez91 we've just point blank refused to go anywhere this Christmas. MIL informs us we have ruined Christmas. She literally lives down the road from us (on the same street!) so we've said she can come round any time 🤦🏼‍♀️ and we invited her to eat dinner with us but she'd rather do the big family gathering so that's her choice! I couldn't give a flying fuck 😂😂😂

Meanwhile TSD was a grumpy arsehole yesterday. Must've been a growth spurt because suddenly all his babygrows look tight. Of course, noticed this when I dressed him this morning but haven't actually done anything about it or changed his babygrow, despite having a million babygrows in the next size up because I'm too lazy... so in fairness I think I deserved my 5:30am wake up call this morning 😂

paintfairy · 23/12/2021 09:43

@Minster2012 🤣 Yeah, there's no texting your midwife around here either. I can tell her when I go back in Feb. By which point I'll have forgotten or died. 🤷‍♀️🤣 I've got an emergency number though for bleeding and what not. I just snoozed on the sofa and went to bed eventually. I've still got a lingering headache. You know one of those that's there in the background?
@2020mission bloody hell, I'd have been furious! Workmen really piss me off just thinking they can mess you about you'll revolve everything around them. Yes I've had them before. My last one was bonfire night actually- so I was just on progesterone them and had started it a few days before. The one prior (that I can remember) was maybe may time. Again I was on progesterone for iui. I was bloody driving to Cambridge when it happened and I was like- shit. I have had odd ones in the past though where its happened- had to leave work once because of it.
@bez91 I love the giraffes! What is it though? 🤔 And no i don't get involved in family politics because I would have disowned them. 🤣 So many people moan about it and I realise how lucky I am. None of my family have ever been oh you have to do this and that, ever. And luckily DHs family (actually nearly wrote- don't give a shit about him) 😳 but yeah. His mum lives in another country (hasn't even sent a card) and i won't say what I think. His dad doesn't want to see anyone at Christmas. 🤷‍♀️ So we actually just see some of his extended family but they aren't forceful about it. We are going boxing day this year but it varies. He will likely see his dad one day over the holiday but isn't allowed Christmas day. 🤣 The whole thing sounds more bizarre than the usual politics but really at least it isn't stressful. Because if we turned around one year and said we are staying in and seeing no one, we wouldn't get hassled about it. Next year obviously may well be very different if we have a baby. I don't even have a clue what happens with that.
@Kate105 I think I prefer having a MIL that pretends i don't exist. 🤣 At least I'm not moaned at. Single handedly ruining Christmas for everyone! Some skill you have there. Yeah maybe you need to change him but now it's dirty so he might as well wear it until it needs changing? Makes sense to me. 🤣

paintfairy · 23/12/2021 09:44

@Vil10 hope the scan goes well! Enjoy! 🎉

Minster2012 · 23/12/2021 10:28

@bez91 sorry the giraffes had a bad effect on you, and def don't do anything over Xmas you don't want to, I think Xmas is a time to be selfish 😂what is the giraffe item btw? I can't make it out!

@Kate105 loving your approach! And you'll change him when he needs it, not worth worrying about!

Def know what you mean on the background headache @paintfairy hopefully it and @clolo's goes too.

We've just survived the Xmas food shopping. We didn't need masses so that's good. Also in other news I think I wrestled my pregnancy pillow into submission last night & actually got it into a comfy position. I call victory against the pillow 😂 DH did say though that it looked like I was side shagging it 🤪

2020mission · 23/12/2021 10:38

@bez91 still just mild back cramping coming and going and more discharge with spotting. I have a feeling it hasn't worked but hopefully labour itself could still kick in at any time. Getting a bit too close to Christmas now though 😅 that definitely seems unfair to expect you to travel 50 miles and then also be the one to travel around further to visit others! One big journey is enough. How many weeks will you be at your scan on the 30th?

I agree the vision migraines aren't a worry if you've had them before and it's early pregnancy when hormones are peaking. If it was later in the pregnancy and/or new to you then it would be worth mentioning. I mentioned my headaches briefly and immediately got told "oh yeah that's normal" they weren't interested at all.

@Minster2012 I'm actually glad some people are getting better maternity treatment it would be worse if we were all left to deal with it alone. It didn't bother me at all until I become a higher risk pregnancy. The midwives I've met are all nice but it's just a bit of a shame to be saying hello to someone new every time and having to what feels like start from scratch with filling them in each time.

I did get a text and call a month ago from a named health visitor who said she'll pop over and see me shortly after the baby is here and a few times after over the months. That was the first time I've felt like I have someone I could contact, but she's only the health visitor so of no use until baby is here 😆

bez91 · 23/12/2021 10:46

@Kate105 wow she's down the road and you've ruined Christmas, she could just pop in ffs. Sounds like my monster in law but I think I'd elope it mine lived down the road from me 😆 I don't suppose you can complain on TSD if it's a growth spurt!

@paintfairy oh it's a thin summery blanket thing. That's good on the in laws, to be honest it's only the MIL who causes these issues at each big event. My FIL and my family are fine and easy going. Yes you might find it changes next year if everyone wants a piece of you and the baby.

@Minster2012 I'm definitely going that way as I've got older, sick of pleasing others. We won't spend a lot of time with people we don't like now. Good news you've gotten comfy on a night. I've not got one yet and seen to be managing ok whereas last time I really needed it. Well done on the Christmas shop - phew!

@2020mission promising signs! Go all out today, walking, sex, birthing ball 😂 I'll be 20+4 as I'm 20 weeks Xmas day so not a lot of wriggle room if we missed it so not succumbing to seeing idiots we don't like to risk it 😆

Vil10 · 23/12/2021 10:56

@becarefuloutthere it's just typical isn't it everyone catching it now before Christmas, the amount of people I know thst have it is crazy!! Hmm yeah, do what you feel comfortable with!! Thankyou x

@Minster2012 your DS makes me howl, sorry

@bez91 Thankyou!! Sorry your first purchase made you feel anxious!! Also be bloody selfish at Christmas!! Do what you want to do, don't bother trying to please others x

@paintfairy Thankyou x

@Minster2012 good old spoon fuck with the pregnancy pillow

Also quick question for you all, what week did you have your booking appointment? I was speaking to lucy and Minster yesterday and we agreed mine seems to be really late! I'll be just over 10 weeks, I rang and tried to change it and they said it's the right time and they book them in up to 10 and a half weeks? So that was that! I suppose it doesn't necessarily matter it just means waiting longer, and I hope it still means they could get me a 12 week scan and not be waiting until im further

2020mission · 23/12/2021 11:21

@Vil10 mines was at 9 weeks and just over the phone so they didn't do the bloods or other checks. They left that until after my 12 week scan. The booking appointment is mostly just some questions so nothing major really I wouldn't worry about it being at 10 weeks. As long as it's booked in and so is your 12 week scan, you're good 👍

@Minster2012 just read back your post about X at breakfast 😂 I'm not looking forward to that sort of chat from my boy haha

Juno231 · 23/12/2021 11:21

@bez91 I third the giraffe question!

@Minster2012 ah I love my pregnancy pillow, obv have no bump but am cradling that thing every night like I've never had a hug before. So good!

@paintfairy I'm glad the migraine has tapered off! I'd guess it's the med change, too much of a coincidence otherwise?

@Vil10 10 doesnt seem uncommon when I see what others have in my birth groups but I don't get how it works when the NHS/midwife pages all say they do the blood and urine samples before 10 weeks? As long as they get your scan in before end of 13 weeks you should be fine though I think? Got my fingers crossed for your scan this afternoon!

@2020mission I still can't believe you'll have a baby imminently 🙊. Feels very surreal. Do you feel big and uncomfortable? I feel like I haven't heard you complain at all!

At the gate now and very grateful that I haven't had any nausea kick in yet as today would've been hell with it otherwise. Had lots of pulling on my left side though which has been nice to just feel something happening! One thing I have had a lot of the last two weeks is CM! Some days I have to change knickers halfway through the day lol.

2020mission · 23/12/2021 11:23

@Vil10 they can easily slot in scans short notice as they did that with me at 32 weeks for a growth scan the next morning so if they haven't booked the 12 week scan until the booking appointment you should still be fine. They have to do it as close to 12 weeks as possible so they will make sure it's in.

2020mission · 23/12/2021 11:27

@Juno231 bump is in the way a bit when I try to bend down and turning over in bed is a bit of a task but otherwise it's not bothering me much. I thought I'd be complaining and struggling more by 39 weeks too 😅 I'm sure every day that passes it will get more uncomfortable though! Have you booked a private scan yet?

Minster2012 · 23/12/2021 12:39

@Juno231 you clearly have a better relationship with your pillow than I do, we are very much love/hate atm 🤪 errrr get yourself to Sweden 🇸🇪 and we want pics on Insta please. Btw wow for so much CM but that's a great sign

Oh no @2020mission it's slowed to but there's spotting & discharge again? I'm hopeful for you, he clearly wants a festive birthday! Damn it and yeah it's much better that more ppl get better service with the maternity stuff. I'm loving the fact you aren't uncomfortable though that's great & gives hope

Like @bez91 says @paintfairy I think it might be different next year for you, I mean I don't think ppl would be as much bothered by just DH & I, but then again we used to do a lot more with mates over Xmas before we all had sprogs 👶🏼

@Vil10 DS makes me howl too, like a banshee most of the time!! As you know my booking was 8.5 weeks

@becarefuloutthere god I'm hearing so much about ppl catching it atm it's all very 😬

Vil10 · 23/12/2021 13:00

@2020mission oh good! I was panicking at first but Minster calmed me down as per🤣 I mean they'll have 2 weeks to find me a time slot so hoping that'll be enough for them!!

@Juno231 that's what I was confused at too, but I suppose all we have to go off is what they say and others experiences! Thankyou!! Safe travels to Sweden, lots of pics please!! Also I'm with you on the cm front I've had it pretty much since I got my BFP and there's been so much of it some days, I've been wearing a panty liner pretty much everyday because there's been that much!!

Vil10 · 23/12/2021 13:03

Plumber/scan update, the plumber is fitting us in early and is on his way now!! Hoping all goes to plan and we can go to my mums after the scan🤞🏼🤞🏼

Minster2012 · 23/12/2021 13:17

@Vil10 🥳😊come on plumber & baby

DKDK123 · 23/12/2021 13:24

@Minster2012 your day with DS sounds as delightful as mine. After getting up at 3.30 yesterday, today was 3.50 to tell me only 2 more sleeps till santa comes 🤦‍♀️ he was too hyper to get back to sleep so I told him to go play in his room while I went back to bed. Somehow he'd managed to evade the childproof locks to get into the cupboard that contains all his board games and toys that come in a million pieces, they're kept in there so he can only get one out at a time (he does have lots of other toys in his room to play with). Well I woke up to find he'd emptied the entire cupboard and tipped EVERYTHING out every box in there, there was not an inch of carpet clear 😭 It has not been a harmonious household today 😂

@bez91 I found the first purchase evoked a lot of anxiety, but it has started to ease a bit the more I buy. How special your DD chose it 😊 I'm with you on the standing your ground over not running about visiting.

@Kate105 how dare you ruin Christmas by not bowing to someone else's plan and suggesting they can come to you 😂 If that's all that it takes to ruin Christmas I must destroy it some years 🤣

@2020mission I was so hoping to pop on and find your labour was underway. C'mon baby pop out by tomorrow and be home by Christmas day........or be super comfy and let your mum rest on Christmas day and start to make an appearance after boxing day 🤞

@Vil10 at my booking appointment they gave me the date for my scan the letter was already printed out for me so even if your booking appointment is later your probably already on the system for a scan date. My booking appointment was around 8.5weeks and the scan date they gave me at it was for 13 weeks (so I had a private one at 11 as that felt like ages away 😂) It won't matter too much about the actual booking appointment being 10 weeks it's just for them to gather info about you and get some baseline measurements like BP, BMI, blood count etc to compare to in later pregnancy, being a few weeks later won't matter with that I'm sure your actual scan will still be within the recommended time frame so they can date baby etc.

@Juno231 safe flight, have a good time while you're there. ✈

larrythelizard · 23/12/2021 13:42

Safe flight @Juno231!

Pleased the stars are aligning a bit for you @Vil10 after the stress.

@Minster2012 I also own a similar model, I was still in bed when he got up with DH, "Mummy why are you in Daddy's bed? Get out get out get out?!".

Moderna side effects subsiding, been out for a lush lunch (@paintfairy you were on to something in that sick = hungry) and got both a whopper of a dye stealer and a 3+ this morning, both of which were massively reassuring!
