@paintfairy that's why an august baby is good on the term time thing @DKDK123 mentioned because it kicks in straight away after 3, there's not extra "downtime" of losing out. So like my baby is may but won't get funding til sep 😬

That's so shit on the midwife at 15 weeks @Juno231, are you going to wait til the first bit of the ivf?

@bez91 I read that as "move in with us" (as in me move in with you!) why thank you that's very kind of you 😂might take you up on that why building work going on...but I understand now! And I'm sure you might like DD at childcare for some time with baby? (Or to sleep, or just down time)

Babies just do whatever when they are immobile right @blackcurrantqueen (well, eat shit sleep) so they don't care where you are, might be nice to be looked after @Vil10 im thinking the same for our housework 🤪

becarefuloutthere · 17/12/2021 20:16

@paintfairy thank you 😊 yeah apparently so! You seem to get rated on risk factors so age was one as well (I'm 35) so I was put at "2", ivf and age. It seems to mean you get to see a consultant and have extra scans. I was supposed to get one at 28,32&36, didn't get the first one and I'm 30+3 today so next one will be at 36 weeks. Ooh good question on any benefits. I think it's just child benefit if you're not on the breadline but will let the others more in the know answer!
@Minster2012 thanks hun! Hope you're well 😊
@blackcurrantqueen oh hun, haemorrhoids don't sound fun at all! How can you treat them?!
@bez91 thanks yeah it's been a pain to get sorted but I'm glad things are as they should be now.
Good to read the child benefit answers! You girls are so knowledgeable and helpful 🤗
Have a lovely weekend everyone. I'm seeing family and a few friends locally, can't wait!

Vil10 · 17/12/2021 21:57

@Kate105 panic buying🤣 I hate to be that person but I just need to wrap a few more bits then I'm sorted!

@paintfairy it's the most amazing little frog human baby

@Minster2012 ooo a lovely weekend then!! Also good idea on brunch, I love going out for breakfast/brunch!

@blackcurrantqueen that makes me feel a lot better then, I thought it would just be me who's doing this🤣 to be honest as well my mum is amazing and I know she'll be so helpful, probs a bit over the top as in asking every 2 mins if I'm okay, and then every 3 mins getting giddy over being a grandma😂 oooo sorry about the hemarhoids!!

@bez91 that's what I keep telling myself!! Not ideal but not exactly the worst thing to happen, at least we don't have there as a back up! About the same time as us then, once Christmas and new year is out the way it doesn't exactly give you a lot of time to sort something does it!!

@Juno231 not seeing a midwife until 15 weeks?? How crazy!! Are you going to hold off?

Vil10 · 17/12/2021 22:01

On the nursery and childcare stuff, I haven't even thought about it yet, ignorance is bliss right??

Sunbird24 · 17/12/2021 23:04

I am staying with my parents now til after Christmas, so told them when I arrived this afternoon. My dad only then went and offered me a glass of sherry with my dinner! 😂 Could be a fun 10 days…

DKDK123 · 18/12/2021 03:02

@Juno231 I wouldnt worry too much about delaying self referring till you feel comfortable, they'll fit you in. Remember some people don't find out till way later on they're pregnant anyways and they manage to fit them in. I think if you book a private scan for your peace of mind that baby's OK then I wouldnt worry too much about the delayed midwife appointment unless you have a complicated medical history. The first appointment is pretty uneventful anyways just info gathering for their benefit really, lots of questions to check how any medical history may effect the pregnancy in the future, check there's no domestic abuse or FGM, tell you to take vitamins, do your bmi etc. They take blood and urine sample but a few weeks late won't make much difference if it means peace of mind for you slightly delaying referring.

@Vil10 you may actually be quite relieved to move in with them for a bit as it'll help you get some rest in pregnancy I'm sure your mum will fuss over you making your dinner etc

@Sunbird24 your dad sounds like my gran, she kept offering me a drink the other day and saying 'it'll be fine' 🤦‍♀️ How did they take the news when you told them?

Pregnancy insomnia and scanxiety mixed together are not a fun combo tonight 🙄 Tho don't panic if I haven't checked in till late tomorrow, scan isn't till the afternoon, we're taking DS out in the morning to distract us then will be (hopefully) visiting grandparents in the afternoon after the scan to let them know what it is so I won't be home till late. DS knows that we're going to go find out if it's a boy or a girl and keeps saying, 'the doctor won't say its a boy because it's NOT a boy I told you it's a girl, it's my sister Emily, I am NOT having a baby brother, only a baby sister!' Dreading breaking the news to him if it's otherwise 🙈

Lexber · 18/12/2021 07:10

Mega catch up - sorry I've been AWOL year end at work plus general exhaust and time off year!
@Minster2012 I usual love mince pies but this year meh, same with chocolate I usually love it but I'm not fussed which is weird!!
@bez91 I did that the other week - sat distracting myself from stuff I actually needed to do, to work out what I'd be getting when 🤣 SMP as ridiculous!!
@larrythelizard I hope your workplace honours your enhanced maternity pay, it's def worth an ask, remember I was 5 weeks off mine and they've changed the policy as they deemed 2 years too long and unfair! 🤞🏼

@Juno231 I LOVE cheese, but apparently the twins don't 🤦🏽‍♀️😬 boring cheddar or Red Leicester here at the minute, that all my Xmas favourites- at this rate I will gain less weight this Xmas pregnant with 2 than I usually do 🤣🤣🤣

Ah @larrythelizard gutted you aren't a millionaire! I keep checking my postcode lottery - lots of local streets have won £1k recently... 🤞🏼my current new breakfast is crumpets with marmite and cheese toasted .. I seem to be increasing the amount of marmite daily, I'm usually not the biggest fan unless I fancy it but at the minute it's amazing!
@Minster2012 im currently going mad fir beef monster munch or beef space raiders 🤣

I'm missing pate so much!! I didn't realise I can have mushroom!!! Guess what I'm buying today - thanks @Juno231

Haha @Kate105 def a great contraceptive 🤣 I think my morning sickness has put my kids off - no teenage pregnancies in this house after seeing the state of me - sex education doesn't show you the women crying over a toilet retching violently whilst pushing herself 🤣🤣🤣

Oh will take his given 2 weeks paternity (fully paid thankfully) then put 2 week holiday in as I'm gonna need the help!! But if babies do come early and require nicu we are going to look at possibly postponing his paternity until they come home, and using some holidays on/off to get full time with them properly- it's so hard trying to plan knowing we need back up plans in place too!
@Crazydoglady123 sorry to hear about your dog

@2020mission that's so frustrating, but I can't see the best drs getting Xmas off. I think they just slightly reduce staff so take in less patients if they can but have others on standby if needed. The medical profession work all year round. They will look after you well xx

That's up to Wednesday caught up, onto Thursday lol...

Lexber · 18/12/2021 07:49

@DKDK123 love the litykk lol e top - I brought babies first proper baby grows this week 💙💖
I'm with @Crazydoglady123 on the intuition- we knew it was twins and at the scan when we found out I turned to OH and told him it was B/G and the boy was the lower one - I was right!! I just knew!!
@Juno231 that cheese looks amazing- I love cheese but we had baked Camembert the other night and I couldn't eat it?! Wtf!! I usually love it - nope babies don't like that either apparently 😬🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Aww @DKDK123 I love his positivity!!!

larrythelizard · 18/12/2021 08:01

Weighing in on the crisp débate, I like discos but they make my tongue hurt so I don't have them very often. Been very into a prawn cocktail walkers this week.

I think positive thinking is good @whatwonder

Slow cooker chilli sounds good @Vil10 we had to eat the last of the week's batch cooked stuff last night which wasn't amazing. Also being pregnant and living with parents/in-laws is way easier than TTC surely?!

I think you can keep buying the vouchers even if you don't use them immediately @bez91? My boss reckons he's got about £10k of them accumulated which he doesn't really need now his kids are bigger.

HA I also thought @bez91 was inviting @Minster2012 to move in with her!!

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 @DKDK123 💗💙💗💙💗. At least if it is a boy, DS has enough time to come to terms with it before the baby actually arrives. Hope you managed some sleep/there's a nap option for you today.

Oh no @blackcurrantqueen i never had them before heavily pregnant with DS and now they pop back up (out?) when I get dehydrated. Horrible things.

😂 @Sunbird24 that's funny! Hopefully he stops trying to feed you booze soon!

I keep having a circular conversation with myself/DH about a scan next week at 6+3. I think really it's too early especially as im a week behind where i 'should' be but the pull is strong...!

Have a nice weekend all, hairdresser for me this morning, meeting some friends later and then seeing Santa tomorrow. Might also hit up the paw patrol film. Rock and roll!

Juno231 · 18/12/2021 08:55

@larrythelizard wait how are you 6+3 next when you got your bfp later than me? Or are you basing it on LMP? If only in the 5 week range I'd probably delay that scan in case it just freaks me out because they can't see much on it.

What's popping back out when dehydrated 😱

@DKDK123 ah I thought the blood and urine tests had to be done before 10 weeks ideally. Thank you for reassuring me ♥️. Also big thanks on letting us know about the scan update delay as we'd be panicking otherwise 😄

@Lexber silly twins for not liking camembert! Do show us the baby grows you got them!

Actually yes, pics from all of you please, I need to live vicariously through you 😅

@vil10 ignorance 100% is bliss

@Sunbird24 love the sherry 😂 how did they take and do they know about the previous pregnancies?

Minster2012 · 18/12/2021 08:56

@DKDK123 💙💓💙💓💙🌈

Totally agree with @larrythelizard for @Vil10
being with in laws or folks probs much easier pregnant than TTC as they won't want you to lift a finger. (Tbh sounds bliss but hormones may be a factor). OMG when I'm having a bad day & need DS to chill I keep saying "today is the day I buy the paw patrol film!" Count down each day & see how you feel about the scan, I honestly feel it's too early for reassurance & might put you down for Xmas. With no bleeding and pain you must keep saying you are pregnant

Your babies don't like Camembert @Lexber maybe they'd prefer other cheeses ? You must keep trying! All look so not liking chocolate or mince pies!! Maybe they like sprouts? Mmmm beef space raiders in the mix, love that. How much are they now cos they used to be 10p right?

@Sunbird24 that's hilarious but seems they are pleased? My MIL did similar when we said my friend was expecting DS she bought her a bottle of champagne 🍾 I was like that's mean 🙄😝

@Vil10 def don't worry about childcare. The dogs will look after it

so according to @becarefuloutthere because I'm also old I'm high risk on that too 😂

larrythelizard · 18/12/2021 09:19

I'm basing it on LMP because that's what NHS/scan people go on until the dating scan. But knowing I ovulated a week later than I 'should' have means I know I'm actually a week behind @Juno231. I've been there before on scans where you can't see anything and it's a gut wrenching couple of weeks. Sensible me knows it's a pointless use of £70...

I had one drop of blood with my previous MMC and ALL the symptoms still @Minster2012 which is what makes me nervous but you're right, everything is fine until proved otherwise.

Also old @becarefuloutthere @Minster2012 I read something on MN the other day that they now only count 40+ as a geriatric pregnancy. My BMI was just over 30 last time so I got extra scans which I was pleased about, don't think it will this time (which is obv good and bad!)

Perhaps they'd prefer a port salut @Lexber - I love that stuff although it doesn't like me so I can't eat it!

Vil10 · 18/12/2021 09:51

@DKDK123 she definitely will, she won't want me to do anything, which will be quite nice and relaxing for a while but I might get a bit stressed with her🤣 cannot wait to hear the news and if it's a little Emily!! If so, your DS is a genius!!💗💙

@larrythelizard yess love prawn cocktail walkers!! Oooo I hate the eating up days, I have loads of chilli left over to freeze but I know full well it won't get eaten! You're right, it'll definitely be easier, it feels weird knowing that was something I was worrying about and now look😳Also I kept saying the same thing to myself about booking a 6 week scan when I'd already booked my 8 week one, I just kept worrying so much but I kept telling myself I'll take each day as it comes and I'll hang on and now I'm at 7 weeks and have my scan on Thursday! If it'll make you feel more settled then do it but otherwise try and hang on🤞🏼

@Juno231 are you basing yours off when you ovulated or LMP?

@Minster2012 hahaha the dogs could totally handle the childcare!!

I feel a tad worried today, I haven't been feeling bloated the last few days, constipation has eased, nausea had gone yesterday and this morning, boobs still slightly sore but to be honest they haven't been mega painful throughout, I know it's completely normal for symptoms to come and go so early so trying to stay positive!! Also nervous that the app I'm using has me at 7 weeks today, first day of my last period was 28th october but don't think I ovulated until either the 12th, 13 or 14th, so thinking what if I get to my scan Thursday and im measuring like 5 weeks something, ahhh does this worry ever end🤣

Vil10 · 18/12/2021 10:08

Oh we had sex this morning for the first time since my BFP!! OH has always said he doesn't think he'd ever be able to have sex with me when he knows his child is in there, he says it creeps him out🤣 and I've been too nervous to do it before I know everything's okay, but we did and it's safe to say it was definitely needed! Obviously I jumped up quickly to check I weren't bleeding🤣

Kate105 · 18/12/2021 10:38

Ahhhhhh @Minster2012 TSD was back on fine form last night! We spent from 2-4am playing the game of pretending to fall asleep then make bid for freedom from the swaddle bag to find hands and suck them as noisily as possible, then cry because hands are gross and WHY ARE THEY IN MY MOUTH MOTHER HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN

@Lexber get yourself on the beef and peppercorn Tayto and you'll never look back!

bez91 · 18/12/2021 11:05

@Vil10 ignorance definitely bliss for childcare costs avoid as long as possible and stick your head in the sand 🙈

@Minster2012 welcome to move in with us 😆 yes the extra downtime with DD in an after school club a couple of times a week would be good plus she can start with her friends then rather than midway through term when I'll be back at work.

@Sunbird24 what a man thing to do 😂 I got 5 bottles of wine last week from contractors I do business with at work, a couple of them knew I was pregnant- of course they're all men! AIBU to regift them? 😂 hope you're well looked after whilst staying with them!

@larrythelizard very rock and roll, like me bar not meeting up with friends. I was supposed to be doing afternoon tea with my best friend today but her little boy has the dreaded C so we've cancelled. Woah Paw Patrol film? Didn't even know this existed, will look!

becarefuloutthere · 18/12/2021 11:22

@Minster2012 yup I think so, madness right!
@larrythelizard over 40 sounds a better marker to me considering women have babies later in life these days anyway! 🤷🏾‍♀️ I've only felt old since ttc and all the 35+ plus bullshit.
@Vil10 ahh really do try not to worry, it does ease after each scan tbh. I only truly settled into it after 20 weeks 😬 and then when you feel them move it's much, much easier!
I'm glad you got some nookie, get it all in before you start to show and then they run away 😂 well mine did anyway lol!

Minster2012 · 18/12/2021 11:31

@larrythelizard I'm totally with you on the fear of MMC, but we are good at growing rainbows 🌈 here!! Keep the faith, my midwife said they still count over 35 as old so maybe it's a regional thing but I agree I think it should be 40. What is port salut?

@Vil10 for me the fear & worry hasn't ever really gone. I get a few days relief after scans but then fear again. That's why we are all here for support. And yes for the sex! You've broken the seal now 😂

@Kate105 im laughing so much cos you talk exactly how I was 😂😂what are these things on the end of my arms?? Who put them there?! And the day DS learnt to roll in his cot I hated life as he was like OMG I can roll over and end up at 90 degrees in my bed... "WHO THE F PUT ME ON MY TUMMY I DON'T LIKE IT", mummy turns him over, soothes to sleep again and he repeated. ALL NAP TIME and all night.

@bez91 YANBU regift

Minster2012 · 18/12/2021 11:37

In fact @bez91 we got this on our doorstep yesterday & I shall be taking it tonight to the neighbours party 😂

Minsters Sidecar Bumping Along - ttc graduates thread 4
Juno231 · 18/12/2021 11:51

@larrythelizard in your case I'd just tell them LMP is ovulation + 2 weeks 😅

@vil10 I go by ovulation but in my case it doesn't make a huge difference - maybe 3 days?

@minster2012 the dogs will take care of it 😆

@bez91 go ahead and regift them! Although I find myself hoarding bottles now for when I can drink them in August 😂

Lexber · 18/12/2021 13:08

@Juno231 I've attached a pic for you...

They actually love sprouts which has been helpful int he toilet department 🤣 and I buy a 6pk for £1 @Minster2012 I can't eat any of the othe flavours of the crisps as they make me feel sick/heartburn. I am pretty much stuck on bland and mild flavours... meh!

I've tried lots of different cheeses but nope @larrythelizard can't eat/enjoy them - the plainer the better and even then only a small amount and I'm done!

Can't wait to hear @DKDK123 💖💙

@Kate105 o can't stand peppercorn or pepper - oh brought me some sea salt and black pepper crisps when I was craving sea salt crisps early in and I sat and cried at them 🤣🤣🤣

@bez91 definitely regift them! If OH won't use and you don't want to save it til after? I'm not a big wine drinker but OH likes red so any red he would keep the rest I would pass on so as not to waste

I have my 20 week scan Thursday and saw them only 3 weeks ago, but I'm still worried soemthing will be wrong 🤦🏽‍♀️ and I feel movement- but I don't know which it as and if it's both as I have no idea where they're both positioned now as they keep moving!

Yep @Minster2012 35 here so I'm old 🤣🤣 and my BMI i over the reg threshold so high risk there too apparently and twins - I got 3 markers but thankfully as I'm healthy and never smoked it kept the consultant happy with me! But I will still get additional care from 28week with fortnightly appointments and scans to monitor the babies

Minsters Sidecar Bumping Along - ttc graduates thread 4
feliznavidad2 · 18/12/2021 13:22

Catching up!

Those sleepsuits are adorable @Lexber 🥰 good shout on the sprouts, anything to try and help the err pooing department.

Not over 35 but BMI over 30 🙋🏻‍♀️ and I'm gonna be high risk due to previous post partum haemorrhage among other reasons.

Looking forward to hearing your news @DKDK123 🤩

@bez91 deffo regift, I'll be doing the same.

It's such a blimmin' worry isn't it @Vil10 we'll get there, thank goodness for this group. And will be thinking of you for your scan. (Congrats on the sex; still too nervous here due to spotting after bowel movement, fml. 🤦‍♀️)

Agree with @Minster2012 re.
Early scan, when will you be past 6 weeks + a few days, or even 7 weeks? That feels like a safer bet for a conclusive and reassuring scan, shit though I know.

That's lovely @Sunbird24 - even if you can't have it 😂

Still experiencing spotting after going for a poo so have started taking Laxido, it's not working as yet but early days. We're having a lazy day here, so needed, DS and I just made sausage rolls - need to try and not eat them all. 😬 Festivities though innit! 🎄

Kate105 · 18/12/2021 15:36

Oh @Lexber how ungrateful I nearly cried because I couldn’t get any salt and pepper crisps in Lidl this morning!

Well. Raging isn’t the word. Went round to my mam’s to have a good bitch about TSD and his fecking hands. And she reminded me that I can cover his hands with his sleep suits. WTAF I have a masters degree and I’ve put up with this shit for a week because I FORGOT I could hide his hands with literally every single item of clothing that fits him. WHYYYYYYYYYY

Minster2012 · 18/12/2021 15:43

@Kate105 😂😂😂😂 it might not solve your (his) issues though so don't expect a miracle. He'll just discover his feet. Or nibble his mitts. They are cunning & determined like that. Wait no salt & vinegar crisps, quick PANIC BUY LADIES

@feliznavidad2 if those sausage rolls disappear blame DS 😂sorry you've still got spotting issues

@Lexber those sleep suits are so darn cute 🥰 and sprouts for the win then!! The scan worries always real but come on Thursday 🤞🏻

@Juno231 also guilty of hoarding the better drinks here 😂

DKDK123 · 18/12/2021 16:11

Quick check in, but the rainbow is shining bright 🌈💕 Actually felt my eyes welling up as soon as I saw the heartbeat, I didnt even care about the gender the relief of seeing it still alive was all I needed 🥰
However DS was over the moon when we were able to confirm to him he was right all along and he's having a little sister. 😁
