Oh ladies, I would not recommend COVID when pregnant. My symptoms are mild but with all the pregnancy symptoms on top I feel pretty crap. On the plus side at least I have an excuse not to drag myself to work this week and I can stay in bed guilt free 👍🏼

@CurryandSnuggle I hope you're not in pain!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 20:01

@Prema112 I’m actually surprisingly well, which is good as I cooked the roast dinner I wasn’t well enough to cook on Sunday and we all enjoyed it 🥰 thank you for asking xxx

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 20:01

P.S. sorry to read that you’re feeling crappy @Prema112 as if being pregnant isn’t bad enough!!!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 20:12

I know I’m utterly crazy as it’s so far away but I’ve been eyeing up the buggy I want since I found out I was pregnant lol, but it added up to around £630 for just the buggy and carrycot 😬 (this is without accessories like rain cover, car seat and adapter etc), anyway Amazon Black Friday was too good to pass up… total £390 for the buggy and carrycot. Plus I had £55 Amazon gift voucher so got an absolute steal at £335!!!

Baby jogger city mini gt2 (all-terrain). So I can go on hikes in the countryside 🥰

Let’s just hope the order definitely goes through and it’s not suddenly out of stock (hate when that happens 🙈).

I had covid when I found out I was pregnant, everythings been fine. My friend had covid in early pregnancy last March and her little girl is absolutely fine too.

MrsNT · 23/11/2021 21:36

@curryandsnuggle which one did you buy

Dogmum5 · 23/11/2021 21:37

Sorry that shouldve tagged @Prema112 ^

@Olive60 my scan is the 13th too!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 21:37

@MrsNT baby jogger city mini gt2 (all terrain) with carrycot

Willow1981 · 23/11/2021 21:48

FTM. I don't get prams. What do I need? Seems really complicated!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 21:58

@Willow1981 I’d recommend looking at things that matter to you, here’s a checklist of things to consider:

  • how lightweight it is (if that bothers you)
  • can it be used from birth, or can you buy e.g carrycot to make it useable from birth
  • can it be used in the toddler years (I’d recommend one that you will get maximum use out of, and ideally the more lightweight the better as when they’re 3 it’s going to be heavy enough as it is!)
  • is it a travel system or can you convert it into one (e.g. with an attachable car seat)
  • what terrain do you want it for?
  • do you want it to be specialist e.g a running one
  • how compact it is (open and folded)
  • how easy it is to fold (if that bothers you)
  • cost
MrsNT · 23/11/2021 22:02

@CurryandSnuggle thanks for the tips..useful for ppl like me who are clueless!

Ladies who are not first time mommies here..did you use breastpumps and if yes which one? Its like so many options and gets overwhelming looking at them and prices

MrsNT · 23/11/2021 22:03

Also has anyone travelled via plane at 12/13 weeks?

Willow1981 · 23/11/2021 22:06

Thanks @CurryandSnuggle. I think I need to go to a store!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/11/2021 22:08

@MrsNT I used a breast pump because I struggled to establish breastfeeding. I used the ardo calypso which was good but wish I used the double because single pumping takes a while! I had the medala at first but I found it less efficient than the ardo and milk leaked into the mechanism and went mouldy.. yuck!!! It’s been 6 years though so things change and improve, so perhaps read really balanced review sites to help you.

Personally though I would wait to see if you need it when the baby is born as you might find you spend a lot for something you don’t need. You could next day delivery if required at the time.

PleaseSendNoodles · 24/11/2021 02:16

@CurryandSnuggle that same one is on my Amazon registry! I’ve picked the one with the car seat included but can’t find the carrycot anywhere… maybe because I’m on the US site.

I want to buy it while it’s on offer but also feel like it’s too soon… 😕

laurenGame · 24/11/2021 03:33

@MrsNT

Also has anyone travelled via plane at 12/13 weeks?
I will be, 27 hour trip each way. Obstetrician said it's absolutely fine Smile

I'll be 11+5

laurenGame · 24/11/2021 03:35

@CurryandSnuggle I'm so bloody tempted by these Black Friday amazing sales, I'm jealous you bought one! Those prices won't be around when I need to buy. But I'm not 12 weeks yet and have Hematoma so don't want to test fate by buying now. You must be so chuffed!

Olive60 · 24/11/2021 06:31

@MrsNT Not that early but I flew at 19 weeks & back home at 30 weeks. Made sure I had all my maternity notes & correct insurance. Had no issues.

CurryandSnuggle · 24/11/2021 07:51

@PleaseSendNoodles oh no, I can’t find it on the .com one either. Maybe you could get the buggy cheap on Amazon and then buy the carrycot (or I think they call it a bassinet on US websites) on a separate site.

CurryandSnuggle · 24/11/2021 07:51

@laurenGame there will be the January sales 🙂 maybe then? Xx

Turniptracker · 24/11/2021 08:17

@MrsNT I went on honeymoon couple of weeks ago, flew at 8 and 10 weeks. There are a few guides if you aren't feeling great still (recommend finding a pillow spray or oil you like to drown out the food smells if they make you queasy). Dr just said to wear compression socks, make sure you drink A LOT (though I didn't really tbh) and try and make sure you are getting up and moving around every couple of hours. Airline only gave a stuff I was pregnant when I started throwing up and they thought I had covid Hmm, oh and also when we got trapped in a lift in the airport Confused

Turniptracker · 24/11/2021 08:18

As a ftm I haven't an actual clue what we need to buy. Is there some sort of handy guide somewhere? I'm also annoyed at the timing, when we want to buy everything will be full price!! Rotten luck

MrsNT · 24/11/2021 08:34

Thanks ladies xx

PeeAche · 24/11/2021 08:48

@Turniptracker - the NHS do a very basic list:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/caring-for-a-newborn/what-you-will-need-for-your-baby/

I think it's supposed to be a bare minimum, because people from all walks of life have babies. I've increased the quantities on most because I also want to use cloth nappies and I don't need to spend my entire life chained to the washing machine.

My list is:

16-20 babygros / stretch suits
3 cardigans
2 sets of hats and mittens + a sun hat
6-10 pairs of socks / booties
8 vests
1 "posh" outfit

A few little blankets
8-12 muslins
Hooded towel

Disposable nappies for first few weeks
Then 45 reusable nappies (all in one type)
12 additional liners to increase absorbency
Nappy bin etc.

A few bottles and breast pump
Nipple cream x a million

Travel system
Small cot and new mattress

What I will not be buying:

Baby bath - nothing wrong with our sink
Moses basket - they'll sleep in the pram downstairs and the cot upstairs
More than 1 posh outfit - I'm sure I'll receive 20 of them as gifts.
Fancy changing bag - my back pack will do.
Shit loads of pointless plastic toot.

What I might buy:

Formula and bottle heater - if I can't get to grips with the tit thing - these bottle heaters are a god send, we had one for my step son. Also a bottle of wine. Silver linings.

Dummy - I'm not going for any "mother of the year awards", I just want to survive.

@Clomid1 yeh, that's not very exciting, is it?! Also got my scan next week, I'm on Tuesday - when's yours?
