Awww @CurryandSnuggle congrats!!
I’ve had such a good day after my moan yesterday! Went to the midwife to do a quick swab re continuous thrush and was really cheeky and asked her to feel my uterus and check it was still growing!! She did and said it was nice and high and then got a Doppler out and we heard the babies heart beating away still!! So chuffed! She said I was probably more than 11 weeks as they wouldn’t normally hear that but I can only be 10 weeks 5 days maximum as I had my operation and had to wait to have sex after! So maybe just a big baby 🤷🏻‍♀️.
Makes all the nausea and the thrush worth it to hear that! Xxx

PeeAche · 22/11/2021 15:03

@CurryandSnuggle your bump!! 😍😍

But um, can we talk about what is going on in the background? Is that a Christmas tree? In November?

PeeAche: Asking the real questions.

@curryandsnuggle im not showing yet but i cant close button of my jeans 😂 plus all my normal jeans were super skinny ones and they feel tight now. So thats why i got this DP one. Its about half an inch long on me but i can fold it from top.
I think spring time H&m will have really nice baggy dresses that can be used for maternity aswell.my colleague used to wear those .right now its all ugly ones in stock

DaimDillyDoo · 22/11/2021 15:35

Back from my scan! Baby is measuring 13+1 rather than 12+1... I have no idea how because I know exactly when I ovulated (letrozole baby!)

It was waving and wiggling which meant we couldn't really get a good picture at all. I still got 3 anyway but they're crap Grin

PeeAche · 22/11/2021 15:54

Nice one @DaimDillyDoo !!

For all you ladies that are having your 12 week scans now, how many of you are going in for the combined screening?xxx

RoseValleyRambles · 22/11/2021 16:04

@pregnancydiaries Humous update: no definitive answer. NHS have it on their list of suggested snacks, BUT there are loads of articles from other geographies warning against it as it's been a regular salmonella culprit. They recommend making your own... Which is not necessarily what us pregnant ladies really fancy spending all our time and energy on... Sigh.

Pandamama88 · 22/11/2021 16:11

@PeeAche I went for the combined screening. Haven't had the results back yet. I think it's good to know either way but everyone has a very personal decision to make.

PeeAche · 22/11/2021 16:14

Oh, @RoseValleyRambles I love hummus. I'm probably 60% hummus. It's fine in U.K! The advice on the tahini is Australian. Just don't go eating hummus in Australia.

That makes me feel better. Not 100% clear why Australian tahini is so evil, but tbh I need some foods that I can still easy and if the NHS aren't screaming about it it's prob ok...
4thtimethecharm · 22/11/2021 16:47

My SIL solved the clothing issue by just buying normal clothes two sizes larger than her usual size. Especially with dresses this worked. I think I might give that a try for the first few months. I am still only a tiny bit showing, being only 8+6 along.

Totally read hummus as humans Grin

Such good news. I'm happy for everyone that just had their 12 week scan. ❤️
I'm going to do the harmony test at FMC in London this week as well. They offer a really good package together with a 12 week nuchal scan.
Can't wait to see the baby again. Hopefully all will go well. 🤞🏻

At everyone suffering from thrush, I can really recommend Multigyn Actigel, available at boots. It's also great as a preventative measure e.g. after swimming.

HWka · 22/11/2021 17:16

Brilliant @DaimDillyDoo!
@Annabell1 thanks for the thrush advice!

Willow1981 · 22/11/2021 17:31

Asking for a friend. How many mini heros ate too many?
Does it matter if it is before dinner? DH is not home for 2 hours.
I mean her DH. Obviously.

InvisibleDragon · 22/11/2021 17:39

That is such a cute bump @CurryandSnuggle!

Glad everyone is doing ok after hospital trips, car crashes etc!

Roxystar23 · 22/11/2021 17:43

Hi everyone!
I thought I would just check in with you all as I haven’t posted in a while.
I’m slowly catching up on everyone’s posts! Happy to see some lovely scan photos and scan news!

I hope the lady in the car accident (sorry, it was a few pages back and I can’t remember the username) isn’t feeling too bruised today and is well!

Had a mild panic this morning about sesame seeds being harmful in pregnancy but I’ve since read on the NHS website that they’re recommended - it’s just some other countries that don’t. Even so, I probably wouldn’t have chosen sesame bagels as I didn’t enjoy them in the end.

I have my booking appointment tomorrow. Excited and slightly concerned as on the phone they told me to go to a hospital for it but on the NHS app it says it’s at my dr’s surgery. I’ve tried phoning both to get clarity but couldn’t get through. I hope I end up in the right place!

pregnancydiaries · 22/11/2021 18:01

@RoseValleyRambles thanks so much for the update and @PeeAche for calming me down as I almost burst out crying that I had somehow damaged my pregnancy!!

My OH is of the idea that supermarket bought stuff should surely be fine and articles maybe refer to fresh stuff that lies out abroad etc?

Either way - I’m staying on the humous train!!

pregnancydiaries · 22/11/2021 18:03

@Willow1981 I read somewhere that unlimited chocolate is great for pregnancy….🙄

PurpleMoon12 · 22/11/2021 18:07

I wrongly thought my morning (evening) sickness had stopped yesterday... Back in full force today 🤢

RoseValleyRambles · 22/11/2021 18:16

@pregnancydiaries me too. I don't think I can face finding another alternative, and the points about UK food standards etc make sense.

Unarosaes · 22/11/2021 18:21

The likelihood of catching salmonella, listeria or toxoplasmosis are really very slim. Even eating tons of raw meat and fish and liking the dirt off the vegetables. I personally try to avoid most risky food because I would feel forever guilty if anything went wrong, but I try not to worry too much when I accidentally eat something on the banned list.

ALHCTPS · 22/11/2021 18:29

@Unarosaes - amen to that.

AlbatrossSociety · 22/11/2021 18:40

@DaimDillyDoo I had my booking in appointment today and I don't weigh myself very often but had to weigh myself today and my BMI is 31 so I have to have extra growth scans, a consultant appointment etc. I'm a size 12 but quite muscley and have fairly big boobs and I really struggle with being overweight and I'm really not looking forward to it being discussed at every appointment. I usually play hockey 3x a week, run 5k once a week and eat healthily, and it drives me nuts that we are all classified by a scale used to measure white men - our body compositions are just not the same as men's and I wish they would use a different measure of health Angry.

Anyway, I very much empathise with the struggle of the idea of putting on weight and losing fitness as I feel there is so much shame around weight and it's so hard to shake that off. I have found listening to audio books and podcasts about intuitive eating incredibly helpful and would really recommend to anyone else who struggles with body image like I do.

Anyone else find it exhausting having to go through their whole medical history at the booking in appointment!? I feel so drained. Doesn't help that the app crashed half way through and she had to redo it all.

InvisibleDragon · 22/11/2021 18:41

I think the various different international rules about what you can/can't eat in pregnancy are about as reliable as the folk covid remedies (baked oranges? Raw onions? Lemon in boiling water?)

If the risk is that you might get food poisoning, has this ever happened? I have never got food poisoning from hummus, so I'm not too worried about that. I might also extend that to eating a couple of mouthfuls of my favourite cheese / cured meat at Christmas tbh.

The one I'm worried about is visiting my in-laws on Egypt. Home cooked food is fine, but they will want to go to restaurants (including fish restaurants) and I'm going to have to be very firm about saying no, because I've never once eaten fish in Egypt and not regretted it afterwards!

Olive60 · 22/11/2021 19:20

All ive thought about today is a Tuna Mayo sandwich with onions and cucumber! Went to tesco and couldn't even stomach buying the Tuna 🤮. Got home ate a big juicy green apple & gherkins now I'm laid in the dark trying not to throw up!
This pregnancy is so different to my last 11years ago. I dont ever remember feeling this rough or being hungry but yet not being able to stomach it!

Although I'm excited for my booking app tomorrow finally!
