@Capricorn8990 basically if you have a negative blood type and your baby is positive your body will produce antibodies against the positive blood. It won’t affect your current pregnancy but could affect future pregnancies and I think the condition is called rhesus disease in babies which can make them very ill. They give anti-d once in pregnancy and just after you give birth to clear out the anti bodies so you don’t have to worry about it.

I’m negative and had it with my last pregnancy. It’s no worse than any other jab but make sure if you’re sleeping on your left by then you don’t get it in your left arm (learnt that the hard way!)

Hi all,
1st time poster. Currently 9+2 (by midwifes and my calculations based on lmp)
This is the first pregnancy that's gotten to midwife stage, the other few have all been chemical pregnancy that ended before 6 weeks 😔
I'm due July 2022, but my 12 wk scan seems a million miles away. I'm terrified that it's all gonna go wrong or there will be nothing there when they scan me.
Just before I got my BFP at 6wks I noticed my boobs were sore, I was peeing more and I was a bit bloated (but I always get fat and achey when I am due on anyway)
Since then aside from being tired, bloated to the point that I look several months gone, lots of discharge and getting heartburn with some general bleugh feeling, I've had no other symptoms. I just can't shake this anxiety that it's not going right.

Anyone else get really mild or less 'storybook' symptoms. I know I should be grateful but all I can think is that I am not really pregnant

MrsCtobe91 · 09/12/2021 19:42

@SamanthaVimes thanks for explaining it better then me, im rubbish at explaining things 😂 plus its been 6 years since i last had to have Anti D in pregnancy. My sister said its just one dose they give you now whereas it used to be one at i think it was 28 weeks and 34 weeks then one after birth.

SamanthaVimes · 09/12/2021 20:20

@MrsCtobe91 I googled it a lot first time round and DD is only 17 months so it’s still fairly fresh in my mind. It’s on my list to ask at booking when I need to have it again so I can add it in my calendar!

Capricorn8990 · 09/12/2021 20:45

@MrsCtobe91 thanks for explaining, really appreciate it 😘 xx

Capricorn8990 · 09/12/2021 20:47

@SamanthaVimes ahh yes the midwife said that it could affect further pregnancies but she kept telling me it was nothing to worry like you 😊. Ahha I'll keep that in mind for if I need it! Thank you for explaining 😘 xx

Capricorn8990 · 09/12/2021 20:53

@Linkoln heya and welcome! I'm 9 + 5 according to an early scan I had privately so we're not far off each other!

It's really hard to keep positive, especially after you've experienced what you have, my condolences to you. When is your scan due? Are you in a position where you can pay for a private scan for some intermittent relief?

Have you had your Midwife app cos they could refer you to the perinatal mental health team like they are doing with me.

I worry about symptoms too, but I have learned that they fluctuate on a daily basis and my midwife told me we have to try and live in the moment and enjoy the now rather than thinking what if. I won't tell you not to worry because you probably still will but just need to find ways around not fixating on a worry and rationalising them.

I completely empathise with you though as I think the exact same way. It's a worrying time but this forum is good for support and advice. I also downloaded an app called tapping solution and there is a pregnancy section on there. Also another poster on here said on the mindfulness app there is a pregnancy section too.

Lots of love to you xx

Hi @Capricorn8990 - another O- person here! AntiD is absolutely fine, just like a normal injection and I didn’t suffer any side effects with my first pregnancy when having them. Just a gentle reminder if you have any knocks or bumps that you usually need another AntiD dose done to counteract any chances of the blood mixing. Please don’t worry though, it’s absolutely fine and good that they have a way of preventing any issues x

sleepyshiftworker · 09/12/2021 23:51

Hello all

Just a random question, I'm front line paramedic and haven't told work yet - I didn't with my last pregnancy til 18 weeks and I really struggled. I'm on a night shift tonight and my god it's hard. I hurt all over my trousers are tight I can't do another 10 weeks of this! Should I tell them? DP doesn't understand front line or really understand my job at all tbh but last night I was laying in the middle of a busy (closed) A road with a patient in their upturned car and had a what the fuck moment!!

Suprima · 10/12/2021 05:41

I had my pre-12 week private scan yesterday to ease my mind before my 12 week scan next Friday. She has grown so much and looks more like a baby than a peanut.

I know she is a girl because of my SneakPeek test Smile The boy results can be temperamental due to potential for cross contamination, so I feel pretty safe with a girl result. I don’t care either way though!

@SamanthaVimes ooh i see, its good to have it fresh in your memory, i wished i did cause it all feels so new again being pregnant and so much has changed since the last time. That's a good idea, then you can prepare. Im absolutely dreading any injections to be honest 😣. Xx

@Capricorn8990 you're very welcome 😊. Xx

MrsCtobe91 · 10/12/2021 09:28

@sleepyshiftworker i would tell them, you've done this before and struggled so you know what it's like, at least if you tell them it'll hopefully make dealing with your job and the pregnancy at the same time a little easier and will be a weight lifted. You have to do what's best for you.

Aww @Suprima how lovely, congratulations on finding out its a girl 👣💝.

Capricorn8990 · 10/12/2021 11:52

@Maybepossibly22 thanks for your reply! All the replies have made me feel at ease ❤️ xX

Capricorn8990 · 10/12/2021 11:53

Capricorn8990 · 10/12/2021 11:54

I had my private scan this morning, lovely heartbeat and measures in line with my dates Smile
Although I think they’ve put the due date as 39 weeks rather than 40 but I guess the NHS scan will update that anyway

Coco9910 · 10/12/2021 13:25

@sleepyshiftworker you know your limits, I think if you tell them it will help you on the days you really struggle. You could always wait until you are 12 weeks if it would make you feel better?

@Suprima what a lovely scan and congratulations on a girl! 💕

Coco9910 · 10/12/2021 13:25

@SamanthaVimes glad your scan went well! Bet it was so lovely to see them!

missv556 · 10/12/2021 13:30

Had my scan at the epu. Baby is fine, heartbeat strong and the little ragamuffin was moving around a lot 🤣 measuring at 9 weeks which is pretty much spot on as I'm 8+6 today

Capricorn8990 · 10/12/2021 14:07

@SamanthaVimes I'm glad your scan went well 🎉 ! Xx

@sleepyshiftworker I would definitely let your work know. I had to tell mine at 5 weeks cos I was due to go on a personal safety course but it was quite physical! They were understanding! Xx

@missv556 what a lovely scan ❤️ pleased for you xx

Lostintranslatio · 10/12/2021 15:18

@missv556 delighted for you ❤️ it is incredible how much they move at this stage, isn't it!?

Pickle0901 · 10/12/2021 17:14

@Capricorn8990 hi, just catching up on posts and saw your note. I am also O negative. If this is your first, then you shouldn't need anything. I had this chat with my mum the other day cos I'd read something. It's not about being O, it's basically anyone who is rhesus negative, if your partner has a positive bloody type, then if you had a second baby that's positive, your body could try to reject.... I'm not an expert obviously but it's something to do with the second baby rather than the first and it's nothing to worry about, I'm doesn't make your pregnancy high risk...

Don't know if that makes sense but just wanted to reassure you.

And yes our blood can be used for anyone, which is pretty brilliant. Hope you're feeling okay

Pickle0901 · 10/12/2021 17:16

@missv556 lovely news, great scan! 🙌🏻

Pickle0901 · 10/12/2021 17:25

Does anyone else suffer from Raynaud's? It came up on my midwife call and she said they will have to put me through for medical examination and monitor me more. I suffer quite badly with it but never thought about it being a risk factor as no one has ever been concerned about it and don't think there is anything to be done about it.... Just wondered if anyone came across is as I was surprised. I've had 2 colposcopy's in the past and they were less bothered by those.

Thanks @Lianna93 for the positivity and yes we did a bit of family history on the call but will finish on monday.

PS Sorry @Capricorn8990 I realise as I've continued reading you already had far better explanations. I should think and get a full update before I type...
