How's everyone doing? Those with their new bundles and those still waiting!

Today is my due date! I've had niggles and pains for a week and nothing so I've settled into it now. Midwife this morning who said baby was back to back (annoying as was not at 38 weeks) so I will try and do the exercises to prompt baby to turn 🤞🏼 Other than that I am fine and willing to wait!... very tired today!

Crazydoglady123 · 27/01/2022 17:55

@sociallydistained was hoping things had progressed for you!

My appointment yesterday my cervix had moved back to more posterior than anterior so I moved down a score on the bishops score 😑 and another successful but unsuccessful sweep but didn't bleed. Induction day tomorrow!

Trinacham · 27/01/2022 20:31

Anybody registered their baby yet?

How many birth certificates are you ordering? They are only £11 each but unsure whether I should just get the 1. Can choose 1-4. Is it best to get at least 2?

Sunshine8888 · 28/01/2022 01:43

My sweep was successful… went into early labour Tuesday evening and Oscar was born yesterday at 38+3 weighing a very healthy 8lbs 3oz. Labour was long and horrific as the not so little baby turned out to be back to back with a huge head (37cm) but the most important thing is he’s here safe and sound 💙 and we were discharged today 😊 I’m already suffering from sleep deprivation averaging about 2 hours in 24 at the moment 😳 and my body is so sore and broken from labour but just so relieved 😅

Trinacham · 28/01/2022 06:10

@Sunshine8888 congratulations!! Were you expecting baby to be big or was this surprising?
I feel you with the sleep deprivation! My little guy is a week old today. He won't sleep unless held so I'm 😴

Scottishgal85 · 28/01/2022 06:35

Congratulations @Sunshine8888, welcome to the world little Oscar 🥰 Wishing you a speedy recovery from your labour and hope you're not too sore. It does get better, I promise!
I'm currently up feeding too, luckily my little one sleeps quite well in his Moses basket, but I am still up every 2-3 hours with him 😴

Sunshine8888 · 28/01/2022 07:16

@Scottishgal85 ooh 2-3 hours of sleep sounds like heaven right now! He seems to sleep in the day but then feeding all night and doesn’t want to be put down. Also have a 21 month old toddler so not sure when I’m meant to sleep 🙈

Trinacham · 28/01/2022 08:04

@Sunshine8888 yep, up every 2-3 hours.. I'd take that happily!😁 oh wow.. a toddler aswell! You're a trooper! My boy did one night spending 2.5 hours in his crib. That's as much as we've managed so far! He wants to be held whilst he 💤 .. I'm thinking I need to get a swaddle type thing. I was no good at swaddling with a muslin but a ready-made swaddle thing might be worth a go..

Scottishgal85 · 28/01/2022 09:49

My little one is 5 weeks today, so a bit further along. We are really lucky though, that he does like his sleep and he goes down without too much fuss! We bought a Ewan the Dream Sheep, I'm not sure if it genuinely helps or not, but he certainly seems to settle with it.
Swaddling might help @Trinacham, some babies prefer the comfort of it, especially when they are so wee.

There's no way I'd manage with a toddler too though @Sunshine8888, that must be so difficult. Hopefully you start getting some longer periods of sleep soon.

mummyh2016 · 28/01/2022 10:18

@Trinacham we have been using the tommee tippee swaddles with the zips which have been good.

Trinacham · 28/01/2022 11:44

Thanks @Scottishgal85 and @mummyh2016 going to have a look into which swaddle suit to buy. He always sleeps with his arms up so we'll need one of those sort. Was interested in the Ewan sheep too so might have a look at getting one of those too

Luckymamma · 28/01/2022 14:20

@Sunshine8888 huge congrats! That’s so exciting ☺️☺️
My sweep did not work, so I’m still waiting! Due tomorrow, the odd false Labour contraction but nothing happening. It’s very frustrating but he’ll come when he’s ready! Xx

Ooohlalaura · 28/01/2022 23:01

Hi all, tomorrow I’ll be overdue by a week and 3 days. I’ve got my induction booked for Monday. I’ve just come on for some advice as I’m having a massive wobble. I understand at my hospital that my birth partner can attend with me for my induction and stay for 3 hours but then has to go home until I’m in active labour. It’s my first baby so I don’t know what to expect, but it scares me that I’ll be alone in early labour with no support and probably in discomfort in a strange place. Have others been through this and it been ok? My hospital don’t do the induction when you go home and return for monitoring but I’m seriously thinking of telling them that’s what I want anyway. Do I just need to man up? Thanks in advance x

Sunshine8888 · 29/01/2022 02:00

@Luckymamma I hope he doesn’t keep you waiting too much longer!

@Trinacham, @Scottishgal85 luckily my husband is around for a couple of weeks so he is mainly looking after our daughter. Oscar is really good in the day with sleep but continuously feeding at night. I’m hoping it’s just because he’s 2 days old and my milk isn’t fully in… managed to grab a couple of 2 hour naps today so that helped! The nights are sooo long though as letting husband sleep so he’s more helpful in the daytime!

SouthwestSis · 29/01/2022 10:00

@Ooohlalaura such a tricky situation and hopefully you'll go into spontaneous labour before Monday. Can you ask the induction suite if anyone can do you a stretch and sweep today or tomorrow?

I think you have to weigh up the risk of the stress of not having your partner with you the whole time in induction, with the risk of going more overdue if you wanted to hold off the induction (and those risks are not insignificant once you get as far as 10 days overdue).
I think if you're not in labour by tomorrow then it's definitely worth calling the midwife who leads for inductions and talking through your concerns and options. They were certainly really helpful to me when I rang the day ahead of my planned induction (luckily for me my labour started on my due date so I didn't need induction afterall).
Harvesting colostrum and walking did the trick for me!

sociallydistained · 29/01/2022 12:20

40+2 today and woke up to the start of my mucus plug coming away so that's something!

winterbabyrose · 29/01/2022 12:22

Congratulations to everyone having your little ones! Thanks I'm due tomorrow and I am SO done haha. No signs at all of impending labour, not lost my mucus plug as far as I know, no waters breaking, no contractions (not even BH within the last few days), no backache... nada. Baby moving like normal and perfect, she just clearly too comfy in there!

Over the past two weeks I've tried pineapple, DTD, spicy curries etc. Nothing has made any difference.

I did randomly wake up at 3am this morning though with a really dodgy stomach and then proceeded to projectile vomit everywhere (lol sorry TMI) but felt absolutely fine after I'd been sick, so I think I just ate something funny yesterday rather than it being anything pregnancy related.

Any ideas or tricks in how I can get things moving naturally?? I have my next midwife appointment on Tuesday where she will do a sweep but would much rather go into labour naturally before then if at all possible!!

BobbleWobble1 · 29/01/2022 19:10

@Sunshine8888 congratulations! Wishing you a speedy recovery. I feel for you having a toddler too. Our approach right now is divide and conquer. I'm still in denial that DH has to go back to work in 2 weeks!!

@sociallydistained my mucus plug going was my first sign that anything was going on. Then once I had my show I went straight into labour both times. Fingers crossed it's not much longer for you.

@winterbabyrose I've never really had much faith in ways to induce labour but I have heard that vomiting can be a good sign. Bit like your body clearing itself out in preparation as gross as that sounds. Same with diarrhoea. Hope it's not too much longer for you.

Similar to the rest of you that have had your babies, we're doing well to get 2-3 hours in the crib. Did see an improvement around 7-10 days though he will only really go down at around 2am onwards. 2 weeks old tomorrow. I've no idea where the time has gone!

Sunshine8888 · 30/01/2022 00:32

@winterbabyrose, I tried all sorts! Walking, orgasms, spicy food, dates and pineapple, massaging clary sage oil into bump… but I think the thing that did it really was the sweep. I also expressed colostrum for a week or so before which I do think can help gear up your body. I’ve been giving it to Oscar out the freezer between feeds. I did also find my body had a bit of a clear out before and needed the loo a few times the day before labour started.

I also lost mucus plus the morning after the sweep and after that the contractions really began.

Zonedoutallnight · 30/01/2022 11:09

Nothing happening here. Still very pregnant despite two sweeps this week and everything else you can think of. Got another sweep booked in for Tuesday and induction Wednesday if nothing happens. I just want to meet this baby now.

sjxoxo · 30/01/2022 22:48

Just checking in - haven’t been on much since baby boy came - suddenly have not much free time 🤣 congrats to the new bubbas and for those still waiting I’m sure it won’t be long!! Baby boy will be 3 weeks tomorrow- it flies by once they are here, even if the last bit of being preggo feels like it goes on forever… is anyone having a c section? I read a few bad things on here before I had it but 3 weeks gone I feel pretty normal i’m quite surprised- Would 100% have another (if there’s a next time! 🤣) sending you all 💐 whether you are waiting for your bubbas or new mummas xo

sociallydistained · 30/01/2022 23:08

@sjxoxo Aww 3 weeks with your baby boy, I can imagine it does go fast. Is your DP back to work or still on paternity. How are you finding it all?

sjxoxo · 30/01/2022 23:53

@sociallydistained he is off for another week so back next monday- that’s going to be interesting 🤪 we’ll it’s certainly been a rollercoaster so far- magical also scary, breastfeeding is not at all what I thought it would be like, he feeds very regularly all day maybe every 1.5-2 hours and then almost constantly from 5pm-10pm major cluster feeding so I have no evenings at all.. but he sleeps from 12am to 7 or 8am for which I am eternally grateful for!!!! Any more signs since your mucus plug.. how are you feeling? won’t be long now 😬 xo

sociallydistained · 31/01/2022 10:27

@sjxoxo I am so prepared for the breastfeeding to be tough but I doubt anything actually prepares you for it! You're doing amazing!

I had a strong feeling it would be today but so far not much is happening 😂

zonedoutallnight · 31/01/2022 13:31

Ooh I've had a show and getting cramps. I'm hoping this is the start of something happening! Wish me luck!
