@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 & @LilmissCa congratulations mummas!!! Enjoy 💖 even nearly two weeks in now looking back at those first few days it was such a blur. Soak it up! Xxxx

SouthwestSis · 22/01/2022 10:02

Congratulations @LilmissCa! Sounds like a pretty good labour experience! How have you found your first couple of days at home?

I lost my mucous plug this morning and have had a few tightenings but nothing regular.

The induction suite still doesn't have enough space/staff to get me in today but they say I'm high priority for tonight. But it all depends what else they get in through the front door I guess.

BobbleWobble1 · 22/01/2022 11:40

Congratulations to those of you who have had your babies! I'm joining you! Baby boy arrived on 16/01/22. Of course he held on til DH was positive too so that childcare was nonexistent! We had aimed to home birth which the community midwives were supportive of but of course it didn't work out that way!

I took some paracetamol as felt some niggles. Irregular contractions started building up and I knew it was the real deal. Kinda just did my own thing while DH was keeping DS amused. An hour later, I started bleeding so I knew MAU was where we were going. I wasn't stressed as I had the same in my first labour. MAU said they would prep for me as I was covid positive. DH got us all into the car then 30 minutes to the hospital. I knew things were ramping up but still informed DH that I was having all the drugs as if I was going to be doing this for hours on my own, I was going to be comfortable! DH parked in the drop off bay and a midwife was out with a chair for me in about 5 minutes and took me straight to a delivery room. Examined me - 9cm (I was still demanding all the drugs!) Strapped the monitor on, gas and air, waters went and DS shot out in one push!! I was there 12 minutes!!

So despite everything, I'm actually grateful for the issues as there's no way we would have called anyone until it was way too late and DH would have had a crash course in midwifery!! I had no idea that I was that far along!! We had to stayed the night but I got a private room so it was totally fine. Obviously I'd have rather DH had been there but if I had to fly solo, it was the labour to do!

Good luck to all those still waiting. Enjoy the sleep while you can!

sociallydistained · 22/01/2022 13:55

Congratulations everyone! @BobbleWobble1 When were you due?

I'm getting niggles and pains and frequent backache. I feel I'm in the early stages but it started yesterday afternoon so I guess could be a long early labour. I'm 39+3

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 22/01/2022 15:07

@BobbleWobble1 oh my gosh congratulations, what an ordeal! Hope you're home now and recovering well xx

BobbleWobble1 · 22/01/2022 16:35

@sociallydistained due date was 12th Jan, he arrived at 40+4. Those could be good signs for you. No personal experience as I've had a show then gone straight into labour both times. This time it was just significantly faster!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yep home now. Recovery has been so much better than first time. I still can't believe the difference. By far the better labour of the two. Hope you're recovering well?

LilmissCa · 22/01/2022 19:48

Thank you everyone!

@SouthwestSis yes a great labour, well needed after a very tough pregnancy. In & out home again within 13 hours, was so great to get showered and into own bed!

@BobbleWobble1 congrats !! My goodness I thought 6mins of pushing was quick !! Def good it worked out for you like that!!

@sociallydistained hopefully things progress for you, def sounds like the start! I pumped to try & bring my contractions on which def helped.. worth a try or hand express!

sociallydistained · 23/01/2022 11:38

Well everything stopped for me so I'm remaining chilled. Partner was hoping it was going to happen this weekend so he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow but I think he'll be going know 🙈

I did try my first colostrum harvesting last night not even that started anything so I guess it was false. I barely managed to get two drops out haha.

Alle1991 · 23/01/2022 18:55

Congratulations on all the news arrivals, I hope your all doing ok.

I wonder how many of us will have our babies this week! Who else has a due date this week?

I’m booked in for a sweep tomorrow morning, I’m so ready for her to come now

Crazydoglady123 · 23/01/2022 19:16

Congratulations @BobbleWobble1 & @LilmissCa

Aw that's annoying @sociallydistained!

I've been loosing mucus everyday since my sweep (and bleed!) Thursday. I had a midwife appointment this afternoon and haven't really progressed much since Thursday despite long walks and bouncing on the ball everyday. She did do a very small sweep and said my waters are bulging. I didn't bleed after either but not had anything happen since. I'm booked to see her again Wednesday when DS is at his dads so we've agreed to try a proper sweep knowing the risks of another bleed and I've asked to be booked in for induction Friday if nothings happened by then so she's arranging that tomorrow

Trinacham · 23/01/2022 21:15

And another one!

Baby Evan was born very quickly on 21st January, weighing just under 6lb 7oz (8 days early, was due 29th). It couldn't have been a more positive experience (I was anxious about birth and really needn't have been!). My waters broke at 11am (in a public place typically!) and Evan was in my arms just 4 hours later! I had Gestational Diabetes and Strep B in pregnancy. He passed his sugars for the GB. For Strep B you usually get antibiotics during labour but as it all happened so fast didn't receive any (hospital were going to see me at 2, thinking that labour wouldn't be super speedy, he was out at 15:06!) but thankfully he's unaffected.

We are in love and can't believe our son is here!

Congratulations to the other new mummas!

Trinacham · 23/01/2022 21:16

GD not GB*

sociallydistained · 23/01/2022 21:42

Congratulations on baby Evan 😍

Scottishgal85 · 23/01/2022 22:53

Huge congratulations to all of you who have welcomed your little ones into the world. I'm loving reading all of your updates! 🥰

FebBabyNo1 · 23/01/2022 22:57

Previously posted in the Feb group but actually think this is more relevant here as there are so many lovely new mummies to advise:

We're booked in for induction on Sunday morning (30.1.22) at 39 weeks and have three sweeps before-hand.

I was so focused on the doctor talking about the induction plans, I think I based everything on Sunday.

But am I being unrealistic in thinking we'll reach Sunday? How successful are sweeps likely to be?

I'm so nervous!

BobbleWobble1 · 24/01/2022 11:14

@Trinacham congratulations! Sounds like a really positive birth.

@sociallydistained that's annoying that things have tailed off. Hopefully not much longer for you.

@Crazydoglady123 hope baby shows up on her own before Friday.

@Scottishgal85 hope all is well. Think you were first to have your baby. Feels like ages ago now!

Luckymamma · 24/01/2022 11:47

@Trinacham ah you beat me to it!! Congrats on the arrival of Evan, what a lovely name ☺️ Hope you are all doing ok!

@FebBabyNo1 both my sweeps were very productive (baby arriving same day) but only if your body is already gearing up. So it can go either way I’m afraid. Def worth trying tho!

@Crazydoglady123 ugh hopefully soon now!!

FebBabyNo1 · 24/01/2022 11:51

@Luckymamma sweep one: a big fat fail!

Fingers crossed Thursday's one gets things going..

Thank you for your reply xx

Crazydoglady123 · 24/01/2022 12:40

Thanks @Luckymamma @BobbleWobble1. I've lost so much mucus plug even my midwife says there can't be anything left!

@FebBabyNo1 I had two "successful" sweeps with DS and labour never happened naturally unfortunately. I was reading a thread on childbirth section yesterday and seems most people go into labour in the night when they're asleep

Scottishgal85 · 24/01/2022 12:47

All is great here thanks @BobbleWobble1, just getting used to life as a mummy 🥰
It was 5 weeks ago this Friday my wee one was born, I can't believe how quickly the time is passing!

Luckymamma · 24/01/2022 19:49

@FebBabyNo1 ah bad luck! 🤞🏻 For the next one! But you never know maybe it’s just starting slow!!!

Sunshine8888 · 25/01/2022 11:07

Hello, I’m due feb 6th but have been booked for induction on Monday as I have Obsteric cholestasis (joy)! I have a sweep today at 38+2 … this is my second baby, my first came spontaneously at 35+5! I’m very nervous about birth but also desperate to have baby safely out. Congrats to all the Jan babies 💖💙

Luckymamma · 26/01/2022 18:16

@Sunshine8888 oooh hope your sweep works! I had one today as well. I’m 39+4 and was 3cm but not even feeling a twinge yet. Sad times! My previous 2 sweeps with previous 2 babies worked within hours.
My induction was brought forward from 10th to 4th Feb due to protein in urine.

Trinacham · 27/01/2022 04:27

Love how it's getting quieter and quieter here as more of us are having our babies one by one! Hope all you busy mummas are getting on OK with your new bundles. Currently have baby boy feeding off me 🥰 so proud of him tonight as he just managed to sleep an hour and a half in his crib (first time he's slept not in my arms!). 1 week old tomorrow - time's flying! And we've not even reached his due date yet 😁
Good luck to those waiting for baby to make an appearance xx

BobbleWobble1 · 27/01/2022 11:17

@Trinacham I was thinking exactly the same. Can't believe my boy is 11 days old. It really feels like he's always been here.

Hope those of you still waiting don't have much longer to wait and everyone else is doing well.
