Just looking for fellow induction buddies! I'm being induced tomorrow at 38+3 due to gestational diabetes. I'm a FTM & keep swinging between excitement & anxiety 😁

Would be good to share this time with others in the same boat!

Good luck OP! Not being induced myself but had a close friend be induced last week.
Have you started trying to express/store colostrum? Could help with bringing on labour and a good idea if your baby will be at risk of low blood sugar

mooloop · 08/11/2021 09:31

Me Smile due to be induced on Thursday because I'm overdue and no signs of baby being ready to come on his own still Sad (will be 12 days overdue by then!!)

How are you feeling about your induction?

ker89 · 08/11/2021 09:36

Me too! Finding out which day it'll be in an hour or so and even that is making me sooo nervous. I've had 3 failed sweeps but I am already 2cm so im hoping the induction is nice and easy! X

JackJack84 · 08/11/2021 10:34

@SouthwestSis thank you 😊 Yes I've got 12 syringes of colostrum to take to hospital, took me a whole week to get one syringe then this last week I finally got the hang of it!

@mooloop welcome! I take my hat off to you, I'm ready to be done now don't know how I'd cope with being overdue 😂
I'm weirdly looking forward to my induction, been doing my hypnobirthing meditations every day to prepare. Hoping for the best but realistic that anything could happen! Good luck for your induction x

@ker89 welcome! Hopefully you'll find out soon when you're going in 🤞🏼 How far along are you? Best of luck x

I'm nesting like crazy today, I have so much energy & keep thinking of things that need to be done. Trying to rest but I'm full of nervous energy!

Hi everyone- I’ve got an appointment today with my consultant to book in for induction this week. I’ll be 40 weeks on Wednesday. I had a sweep while on a hospital stay on Saturday and I lost my plug this morning 🥳
Im being induced due to high blood pressure and mild preeclampsia so can’t wait for her to be here

neverenoughchelseaboots · 08/11/2021 10:42

I'm on Thursday too @mooloop

It's my second and I was induced last time too so although I'm a bit sad I won't have experienced spontaneous labour, I'm not feeling apprehensive about the induction itself.

Hope it goes well for everyone. Would love to hear how you're getting on. x

JackJack84 · 08/11/2021 11:57

Welcome @NovRainbow5 & @neverenoughchelseaboots 😊 Good luck for this week!

Does anyone have any must haves to take into hospital for induction? I have to stay in for 2-3 days after giving birth so I already look like I'm packed for a month away with the amount of stuff I've got but I do like to be prepared 😁

NovRainbow5 · 08/11/2021 12:08

@JackJack84 my bag is ridiculously packed 😂 Going by my packing I’ll be there for a year haha!
When I was in on the ward this weekend it was boiling, so I’ve rushed out and gotten short pjs. The nurses told me to take snacks too and not to bring a towel as they’ll provide them (not sure if every hospital does this?)

Bananapancakes6 · 08/11/2021 12:18

Yes, hopefully! I'm 40+2 and royally fed up now. I'm seeing my consultant on Wednesday and she is going to book my induction. I went to 42 weeks with my first baby so fully expected this :(

neverenoughchelseaboots · 08/11/2021 12:21

I remember the heat too! And also being incredibly thirsty afterwards so top of my list was two bottles of those super concentrated blackcurrent squash.

JackJack84 · 08/11/2021 12:31

Oh thanks @NovRainbow5 I haven't packed a towel yet but I'll chuck one in! I've got a suitcase for me, bag for baby, a pillow, a hold-all full of snacks as my hospital doesn't cater for GD as well as a cool bag 🙈

DP also has a big backpack as he's staying with me for the duration. Feel like I'm gonna need an airport trolley to get it all to the ward 😂

Just realised you said not to bring a towel!

Hello everyone, I’m being induced on Wednesday, at 41 weeks. I’m still hoping a little that something happens before then but I think it’s unlikely! I’ve also been going over the hypnobirthing videos in the past couple of days and I feel ready now. I’m a FTM so not 100% sure what I’ll need, but I think I’ve (over) packed for every eventuality… they will think I’m moving in!

Good luck ladies!

mooloop · 08/11/2021 13:21

@neverenoughchelseaboots fingers crossed it goes well for us both on Thursday! How far along will you be? It's reassuring to hear that you feel ok about being induced after experiencing it before.

I had my bloody show yesterday (which I thought was a good sign) accompanied by some fresh blood so had to be checked in hospital. All was fine but the doctor said baby's seeming nowhere near so I've felt really down since then and worried that the induction will fail Sad as if I wasn't already hormonal and emotional enough 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

neverenoughchelseaboots · 08/11/2021 13:38

I'm not surprised you got your hopes up @mooloop. I'd definitely have been 'right, this is it!'

I'll be 39+0 and being induced for a big baby. Last time the pessary worked fairly quickly but I was 42+1 then. So I'm sort of mentally preparing for it to take additional steps this time. Although I do definitely feel like my body is more 'ready' this time.

And yes, feeling calm about it all. Even though I had a long labour last time I had an epidural early so was really comfortable and sitting chatting to DH all day without anywhere to be or things to do was actually lovely.

mooloop · 08/11/2021 13:57

@neverenoughchelseaboots I imagine with your second your body will be more geared up for it this time Smile that sounds pretty good to me tbh! I'd been feeling quite "what will be will be" about it all until yesterday when I had a massive wobble after seeing the doctor. I'm seeing my midwife for another sweep tomorrow morning but I'm going in expecting her to say I'm still not ready and preparing myself for the induction.

Hopefully we'll have our babies by the end of this week at least, by whatever method!

Bootoagoose123 · 08/11/2021 14:17

Top tips for packing for induction - more clothes than you think you'll need (for you and partner!), more snacks than you think you'll need, pregnancy pillow and a long 3m phone charger! I was induced in lockdown in Jan and was on the ward for 5 days before anything happened! Hopefully the rules have relaxed so that your partner can come and go and bring you things but it's sometimes hard to let them go away if it feels like things might be starting! Xxx

neverenoughchelseaboots · 08/11/2021 14:36

Oh that might be a good tip @Bootoagoose123 I didn't take any clothes last time, just what I arrived in and something wear home. Then nightie / pjs while I was in. But I started within a few hours of the pessary last time so it wasn't a problem.

The glamorous maternity joggers aren't being retired just yet after all....

OverTheWater · 08/11/2021 14:50

Yes also going tomorrow at 38+1 for GD. Mine is a balloon induction so I go in for an hour and then home until things kick off. Dh can only come in once I'm 4cm+ and then can't leave.

Toddler has a vomiting bug which is adding to the stress.

I have packed my entire house.

OverTheWater · 08/11/2021 14:52

Also all my attempts to express colostrum have failed. I think I have 0.1ml across 4 syringes . . . Depressing since I used to express 3oz milk in 5 mins for my older one!

Good luck everyone!

JackJack84 · 08/11/2021 20:16

Hi @KKPH21 & @OverTheWater 😊 Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has packed so much!

Thanks for the tips @Bootoagoose123! My partner is allowed to stay with me from admission to discharge but we're not allowed to leave the room at all hence making sure I've got everything plus the kitchen sink just in case 😂

NovRainbow5 · 08/11/2021 20:51

Aww I’m so jealous of those of you who can have your partner from start to finish. My husband is only allowed in when I’m in active labour and then he has to leave a few hours after she is born. There are strictly no visitors on any of the wards too so even if I’m in for a week after he won’t be able to see me or the baby. It’s an awful situation to be in 😩

KKPH21 · 08/11/2021 23:23

@NovRainbow5 that sounds very tough. Hope everything is straight forward for you and you’re able to get home quickly ❤️

@JackJack84 my husband is also allowed to be with me from admission to discharge but not allowed to leave during that time. It’s quite a recent change here (I’m not in UK) so I feel very lucky for that.

JackJack84 · 09/11/2021 08:29

Aww @NovRainbow5 my heart goes out to you, that's such a crappy situation to be in. Hopefully you'll not have to stay in too long & can be together as a family x x

OP posts:
NovRainbow5 · 09/11/2021 08:36

Thank you @JackJack84 I had my second sweep yesterday and I’ve had cramping on and off all night, and a bloody show this morning so I’m hoping i can stay home for as long as possible and go in, be admitted on the labour ward and have my husband with me from the beginning x
