I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

Hi all

Hope everyone is well.

I have developed a really really sore throat
I've had a cough the last few days - tested and not covid but it's so so sore now

Is there any home remedies for this? Ive googled it and it said if it's severe/lasts more than 24hrs to see a DR, didn't think to call GP for sore throat? Can anyone help/advice

Thanks

X

AMN3000 · 20/12/2021 11:49

@paintfairy thanks! I'm 8 weeks today so just 3 days to go until the scan. The lack of nausea and morning sickness is still worrying me.

I'm also having pain in the side of my stomach not low down. like up below my ribs, mostly on the left but sometimes on the right that goes away if I change how I am sitting/laying. So thats um ??Anybody else got that?

@strawberrysummer19 I think they say to call the gp in case it turns out to be strep or an infection. Do you have acid reflux or indigestion? Those can both cause sore throats. Personally I am very cautious about what I put in my body at the moment but you could try some hot squash, hot orange juice (which sounds weird but is strangely nice) with or without honey. If it gets worse or lasts, or you get other symptoms maybe call your GP just to be safe. They can hopefully give you a phone appointment and more personal advice.

strawberrysummer19 · 20/12/2021 11:55

@AMN3000 i did a online consultation and a nurse has just called me back
She said I did the right thing checking but the most important thing is to get a PCR
But I've Laterflowed 2 times a week and before I got my cough so really don't think it's covid but she said that's the most important thing
So I've ordered a home one as working from home today and I don't have to go out at the moment

She said lemon honey and paracetamol
Said if I get green flem or a temperature then to call back but until then treat as viral and should go away
Lots of fluids etc so I'm doing all of that

I have the worst sickness just started
Mine started not long after 7 weeks and it's been really bad the last 7days that comes in waves
I'm just bringing up lots of water in my mouth

Xx

Etonmess20 · 20/12/2021 12:02

@strawberrysummer19 I've had that for two weeks now & im just starting to get better. I haven't felt ill during it so haven't been taking paracetamol but have been having honey & lemon & just trying to keep hydrated & get plenty of rest. I've also done negative lateral flows too.
I have been having green phlegm (sorry for the TMI) but didn't think to call anyone really as it's not been more severe than a normal cold. Hoping it doesn't drag on for you as long as it has for me!

Had my booster yesterday too & surprisingly feel fine today, my arm doesn't even particularly hurt! Yippeeeee! 20 week scan Friday too which is super exciting but not looking forward to battling through the last minute shoppers to get there (my hospital is right next to Bluewater Shopping Centre)

Hope everyone else is well & looking forward to Christmas ❤️

strawberrysummer19 · 20/12/2021 12:19

@Etonmess20 oh bless you, it's horrible isn't it. Sounds similar to what I have. And the nausea thrown in aswell doesn't help!
I'll keep going with that, only take paracetamol when I really have to
Oh wow how exciting - I went to bluewater yesterday and it wasn't too bad - not as bad as I thought actually x

Porridgeislife · 20/12/2021 12:51

@Etonmess20 Good luck with your scan! I have a bit to do with Bluewater though my work & know how horrific the traffic can get so will keep my fingers crossed.

@strawberrysummer19 I hope your sore throat gets better. Lemon and honey in hot water is always good when my throat is sore.

I’ve just ticked over 11 weeks today and most importantly have dropped from 3 progesterone jabs a day to only 2. After not really having any morning sickness it’s really ramped up in the last week which is pretty annoying. Cyclizine isn’t really working. Brushing my teeth is hard work.

We have our private 12 week scan on Thursday and will also find out the sex via the Harmony test results. I read a thread yesterday about whether you’d find out your baby’s sex before birth and most women were loftily saying “not for us, it’s the only surprise you get in pregnancy”.

After six rounds of IVF to get our first positive pregnancy test ever, we’ve had quite enough surprises and therefore I cannot bloody wait to find out Grin

TheSnufflet · 20/12/2021 13:16

Hi @Donimo and @whatcangowrong nice to see some other twin pregnancies on this thread Smile this is my first pregnancy and mine are fraternal from a double transfer of two very early ungraded blastocysts, so I'm in shock that they both took and seemed healthy on the 8w scan! How are you two feeling symptoms-wise? I haven't been sick yet but am quite retchy, have really sore boobs, need to wee all the time and feel utterly shattered!

Etonmess20 · 20/12/2021 13:25

@strawberrysummer19 oh god nausea too, not ideal at all! Really hoping it doesn't drag on as long for you as it has done for me! Oh that sounds positive, I've got everything crossed. We live 15/20 mins away & are going to leave 2 hours before our lunchtime appointment. If we're an hour & a half early then it is what it is, we'll get a coffee or something. It will ruin my Christmas if we miss it!

@Porridgeislife congratulations on 11 weeks & good luck for your harmony on Thursday. How long will the results take?
We've decided to have a surprise & not find out gender....for the opposite reason actually in that we've found IVF has taken the surprise/magic out of it somewhat (although our journey has been nowhere near as long as yours!). Horses for courses & I don't blame you for wanting to know as soon as you can!

Holskey · 20/12/2021 14:51

I also have a scan Thursday 😊 (snap @AMN3000 @Porridgeislife) mine's the 12 week scan. I really hope it goes well... there's no rescuing Christmas if it doesn't!

Sorry to hear several of you are suffering morning sickness. It's been horrendous for me but I'm seeing improvements since the last week or so (11+6 today). My hcg is obviously on the way down now 🤞

In other news I'm itching! I had obstetric cholestasis last summer (I've mentioned it before but I wouldn't expect you'd all remember) and I think I have it again 😔 though it's rare to get it in the first trimester so maybe it's just hormones. I have a test on Wednesday.

Hope those of you with sore throats feel better soon 💐

AMN3000 · 20/12/2021 15:36

@Holskey @Porridgeislife yay! scan day buddies. Hopefully thursday is good news for all of us. I think you are both on 12 weeks as this is my 8 weeks and first scan! eep.

My Christmas will definitely be ruined if its bad news.

@Etonmess20 I had my booster saturday. Had a bit of arm soreness while sleeping if I rolled onto it but otherwise nothing. I have been paranoid about checking my temperature and its stayed fine.

Etonmess20 · 20/12/2021 16:15

@AMN3000 oh that's interesting, what jab did you have? My DP had Moderna for his booster (both had Pfizer for first doses) & he was a bit poorly & really sore arm. I had Pfizer again & I was expecting I'd be ill too!

AMN3000 · 20/12/2021 16:29

@Etonmess20 I had pfizer for all 3. Was going to get Moderna but when I told them I was pregnant they said it was best to stay with Pfizer and gave me that instead.

My DH had his at the same time and got Moderna (1st two were Pfizer) and is fine. He had no arm soreness or anything.

Etonmess20 · 20/12/2021 16:38

@AMN3000 so strange isn't it that we've had literally opposite experiences. The nurse said to me "you're doing the right thing you know" & you know when you're like...I know 😂 I get some people may be unsure but I wasn't at all!

Porridgeislife · 20/12/2021 19:28

@AMN3000 @Holskey Good luck for your scans on Thursday. My 8 week scan was really special, the wait between the pregnancy test and the early pregnancy scan was really anxious for me so seeing the heartbeat was very, very reassuring. Agreed there’s really no coming back from this for Christmas if it’s bad news Sad

@Etonmess20 the Harmony test takes about a week to come back. I had a quick dating scan last week & the consultant took my blood, and we find out the results this week plus have the detailed 12 week scan.

Part of the reason I want to find out is to help me bond with the baby. At my NHS booking in appointment the lovely midwife said “and are you bonding with your (non-existent) bump?” and I looked at her like she was completely bonkers as doing IVF, you are so very sure it’s going to go wrong at every turn. I’m hopeful that finding out the sex will make it seem more real!

Etonmess20 · 20/12/2021 22:34

@Porridgeislife that's exciting, gives you something to look forward to as well

Do you have a preference on what you'd like? I know what you mean about the bonding thing, I think it's tricky with IVF & I can't imagine after the journey you've been on. I have a definite bump & do stroke it a lot & talk to it occasionally but haven't got to the singing yet 😂 seems a bit bizarre. I told DP that they tell you to do that & he thought I was joking 😂😂

Porridgeislife · 21/12/2021 09:36

@Etonmess20 We honestly have no preference. My gut feeling is that it’s a girl as it was a day 6 embryo (boys are faster to make blast) and I had very high HCG levels when they tested me at 11/13/15 dpt. Might be wrong though!

Our family live overseas so it’s partly so we can tell them as well, plus as I mentioned I hope it will help us bond a bit more.

Etonmess20 · 21/12/2021 11:24

@Porridgeislife we're the same, no preference either way. We are just over the moon at any healthy baby tbh! There's so many old wives tales you can read that this means boy or that means girl!
That'll be nice, will probably make your overseas relatives feel more connected to the baby too!

paintfairy · 21/12/2021 13:01

@Porridgeislife I had my booking in appointment today. I'm 9+1. I'm glad they never asked me that as I would have looked at her gone out as well! Are you supposed to bond? 🤷‍♀️ I still can't even believe its there. I keep forgetting. I also keep wondering what the hell I've done (you would think after all this time it would be welcome 🤣) and I don't really acknowledge its going to happen. I think you've been in that mindset so long? And my ivf worked first time. But by the time I'd got there (after 3 failed iui and nothing naturally) i had already decided it wouldn't work. So I'm not sure how people feel after failed cycles as well.

TheSnufflet · 21/12/2021 13:42

@Porridgeislife I had my booking-in yesterday and I definitely wasn't asked about whether I was bonding with 'bump' - how peculiar at this stage? Like @paintfairy I can barely get my head around the concept that I actually have babies inside me!

strawberrysummer19 · 21/12/2021 19:21

Update on my scan this eve. All good, baby measuring spot on so im glad it's caught up as measured 7+1 at my 8wk scan last week.
Saw heartbeat, baby was moving around and even saw his hand, was quite amazing

First scan my finance has seen after 2 rounds of ivf, TTC for years was really quite special

Have a photo I can post x amazing the difference in just a week x

Etonmess20 · 21/12/2021 19:33

@strawberrysummer19 awwwww so pleased it went well & was able to reassure you, congratulations! 🥰
Definitely would love to see your picture if you'd like to share x

strawberrysummer19 · 21/12/2021 21:08

Here is our pic, can't believe the size difference in one week!

Any ivf pregnancies ?
Etonmess20 · 21/12/2021 21:49

@strawberrysummer19 that's a lovely clear picture & you're right, it's amazing the difference a week can make to how they look & their size

Are you feeling any better today?

strawberrysummer19 · 22/12/2021 07:39

@Etonmess20 still pretty much the same, the cough developed a bit more and it's so tickly, had enough of it now!
Nausea is also pretty bad - but I don't mind that in a reassuring way!
Just want this cough to go! Feel fed up with it
Hurts so much to cough x

Etonmess20 · 22/12/2021 08:15

@strawberrysummer19 it definitely sounds like what I had, the worst was going somewhere & trying to stifle the cough because you get dodgy looks! Think people forget there were coughs around before covid! Sorry to hear your nausea hasn't let up either, hopefully it will in the next couple of weeks!
I've been feeling baby kick loads over the last week & they're getting stronger too, such a lovely feeling!
