Any ivf pregnancies ?

I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

@Etonmess20 we went for the Nuna mixx next gen, got some money off it too 🥳 oh without a doubt we'll be like shitttttt we need cotton wool or whatever 😂
Well done for both holding strong! That would've made me cave 🙈

@Tinyhappypeople sorry to hear this, defo worth getting checked out as some ppl do bleed and it's to do with an irritable cervix and baby is ok. Wishing you all the best! 🤞🏾

Holskey · 14/12/2021 23:03

@Tinyhappypeople I'm so sorry you're facing such worry, and so soon after a healthy scan too. There is definitely reasons to be hopeful though. I'm in a fb group for babies due in July and I've been amazed how common bleeding is and how often it turns out okay. Hopefully yours will be the same.

Holskey · 14/12/2021 23:12

@becarefuloutthere @Etonmess20 my consultant in my last pregnancy said it was standard in ivf pregnancies to induce at 38 weeks because statistically ivf babies don't do as well as non-ivf babies when left to go to 40 weeks and beyond. Statistically, ivf babies are also more likely to be smaller so it's not due to large size either. I had in my mind to fight it because I didn't fancy being induced for such a non-reason that didn't take into account anything about me and my specific pregnancy! It certainly wasnt presented to me as a choice, but as a matter of course. But it turned out I needed growth scans because I measured big, then I got obstetric cholestasis and began being induced at 34+3 anyway. It must be like how clinics all do their own thing - different trusts have different policies I guess 🤷‍♀️

unknownscot · 15/12/2021 08:03

I've been told I won't go past 38 weeks also. I'm delighted 😂

Etonmess20 · 15/12/2021 08:29

@becarefuloutthere ooooh nice, that looks lovely 😍 we've bought our pram etc too, went for the icandy cerium as we both fell in love as soon as we saw it! There's definitely going to be something we forget, there's just so much to think about & remember, I guess with Amazon etc it won't be a big deal!

@Holskey to be honest I'm of the mind that the sooner they get baby here safely the better & not hugely fussed if that means being induced. I suppose though, like you said with measuring big, you never know what curveballs are going to be thrown at you either so I'm just going to go with the flow I think. The extra scans I've got in will be nice to see baby anyway & least I feel like they're keeping a closer eye on us

@unknownscot tbh I'd be delighted too although that means it'll be April rather than May & will come round even quicker, after Christmas it's going to fly by I reckon 😂😂

becarefuloutthere · 15/12/2021 12:54

@Holskey odd stats you were given, my baby's off the charts 😂 she's 98th percentile so just waiting on a growth scan to see how accurate the measurement really was! If she's gonna be a 9lber then I'm sure I'll be begging for an induction 😅 if not tho, hopefully I can let nature run it's course. Ooh that is early, I'm not sure what that is, I'll have a google. You're right about different clinics and trusts doing different things. My trust here have treated me like any other pregnancy. I have to keep reminding them that's it's an ivf pregnancy so don't change my dates!
@Etonmess20 well done 👏🏾 you're very prepared! Do you think you'll have a baby shower?

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 14:21

Hi everyone hope you are all well

I'm awaiting a call back from my GP but wonder if anyone can help in the meantime

Ever since my scan yesterday I've had a horrible ache type ache all over my belly. Not low or high just all over.

Im wondering if I could have a UTI? Never had one before but from some of the symptoms I do have some. It doesn't burn when I wee but I'm definitely not emptying all my bladder - it's very weak anyway so it's hard to work out what's normal and what's not.
I have a huge bloat - even the ivf nurse said my belly was HUGE for 8wks!
She signed me off yesterday from the clinic so now whilst I'm waiting for my midwife app which is likely to be new year felt the need to call my GP to rule out a ITI or anything else really

I don't feel anything is wrong with baby
I saw heartbeat and all was well at the scan but I can't shake this gut feeling and this uncomfortable ache and huge bloat I have
I'm also constipated and have trapped wind so again maybe that

I do have a lot of cysts and whilst she didn't seem concerned as it can be common with ivf it my just be that.

Just wondered if anyone has had experience of this at all?

Thank you in advance
X

Etonmess20 · 15/12/2021 14:29

@strawberrysummer19 what I would say is don't let them fob you off with just dipping your urine. The midwife said to me I didn't have a UTI after dipping my urine (I was pretty sure I did) then when they sent it off it came back that I actually did & I needed antibiotics.

You could also maybe try some peppermint tea to soothe the bloat, it does help a bit for me usually

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 14:30

@Etonmess20 oh really? Ok I'll see what they say. I'll try peppermint tea also, I'm quite uncomfortable x

Etonmess20 · 15/12/2021 14:31

@becarefuloutthere we got a really good deal on it in Black Friday actually & we were kind of like we both know which one we want so why not just buy it!
No baby showers aren't my thing tbh, though I will maybe go out for lunch etc with family & friends in smaller groups. Are you having a baby shower?

Etonmess20 · 15/12/2021 14:33

@strawberrysummer19 I didn't have any classic cystitis symptoms but I could feel my bladder (if that makes any sense). Some of it could also be pressure on your bladder from the bloat. Worth getting checked though as you don't want to get really poorly by leaving it. Definitely get all the water down you & try peppermint tea.
I remember the horrible bloated feeling well, it does pass! Hope you're feeling better soon x

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 14:36

@Etonmess20 thank you, I shall definitely get some on the school run. I love peppermint tea and used to drink it a lot when I stopped caffeine.

Yeah it may just be that, my bladder really is terrible! But best to be on the safe side - I'm glad I rang them - I shall update their findings 😀

God, honestly firstly I'm worried about no symptoms then I get a shed load of symptoms! Then I have an early early scan along with an early scan already booked and they were all good - now I've been signed off from ivf clinic it's like my body is saying what can I worry about now lol?!

My stomach is also gurgley like I have a bad belly - strange x

becarefuloutthere · 15/12/2021 14:41

@Etonmess20 makes sense for sure! We were hoping ours would go into the sale but alas it didn't but we did get £25 off by signing up to the mamas n papas newsletter!
I wasn't overly keen on one either but then my sister insisted so it'll just be a small group round at mine. That's if things don't start going stupid in Jan! 🙄
@strawberrysummer19 I'm glad you're getting sorted, pregnancy really is sent to try us!!

Etonmess20 · 15/12/2021 14:42

@strawberrysummer19 there's so much going on with hormones & everything growing that there's some really weird feelings that you get. The round ligaments can be absolutely awful as well when they start to stretch! Could be those making your tummy feel a bit sore & hormones making your tummy feel upset.
We can't win can we? 😂 even at nearly 19 weeks most days im like "what is that strange feeling" 😂
Make sure you get your feet up & take it easy too x

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 14:43

DR just called, only called them at 2pm! I have a gp app at 4:40 - bringing in a wee sample - she said she will dip it and tell me there and then and send off to the lab so thanks @Etonmess20 for that, otherwise I would have asked. Phew x

paintfairy · 15/12/2021 17:07

@strawberrysummer19 I don't feel great after mine. I think it's all the pressing they do. I certainly don't want any more internally. My ovaries are still really enlarged too and I'm wondering if that's been aggravated.

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 17:10

@paintfairy yeah possibly, well I'm back from
The gp and no infection so going to see what I can take for constipation and trapped wind - sure you suggested something to me a while ago? I think that will help

She has sent me for a referral for this weak bladder it's soooo bad but not a lot they can do whilst I'm pregnant! But the wait is very long so it gets me in the system x

paintfairy · 15/12/2021 17:22

@strawberrysummer19 I tried fybogel but it didn't do much. So now I'm using lactulose. It's definitely better not being constipated as it just adds to all the pressure.

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 17:34

The nurse did suggest that actually but they had none in sainsburys but I did see fubogel but didn't buy it as thought I'd check what we can have as there seem to be loads of other things too but I'll definitely get some tomorrow

Some prune syrup too but nothing on them said safe for pregnancy x

paintfairy · 15/12/2021 18:19

@strawberrysummer19 you have to get it from the chemist.

Holskey · 15/12/2021 18:24

@Etonmess20 @unknownscot oh no way would I wish to be induced. I had in my mind to give my boy up to 40 weeks to make an appearance naturally, but the best laid plans and all that. I'm going with the flow this time... with exception of an epidural. If I'm being induced again, I'm asking for that sooner rather than later.

@becarefuloutthere my boy came 1 hour into 35 weeks and weighed a whopping 6lb 10. He would have been a big one at term. That's statistics though isn't it - ignores that not everyone will follow the pattern.

unknownscot · 15/12/2021 18:25

@Holskey
Can I ask why? I'm clueless to all things labour 😂

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 18:32

@paintfairy ah I see, chemist on way to work for me.
I've Just had a shed load of vegetables from a homemade stir fry, did some exercises I read about being on all fours, drank a peppermint tea and a nice warm bath, so hoping that helps!
And will grab that stuff tomorrow x

strawberrysummer19 · 15/12/2021 21:38

I know have the most horrendous back ache! It came on and it's soooo painful!
I'm googling it thinking maybe with my stomach pains and now this can this be a bad sign, as much as it can possibly be I've also read that 8 weeks can make you feel quite rotten

I have a sore throat and a cold ( not covid) and I feel so run down, have no energy, and this is the worst I've felt so far

Anyone else with this back ache? It's really low down
I thought it felt similar to a period back ache pain but it's a lot worse

X

Holskey · 15/12/2021 22:30

@unknownscot most of my reluctance in my first pregnancy was just a desire to allow my boy to come when he was ready, but I had heard many people (including my community midwife) say it's more painful to be induced. My sister had one of two labours induced and she said they were night and day. My own turned out to be utterly horrendous, but I've nothing to compare it with.

I'm sure there are plenty of positive birth stories from women who have been induced too, but I think it is generally believed that contractions come more quickly with greater intensity when induced.

I'm not trying to frighten anyone but I wish I had been better prepared. I went into it understanding it would hurt a lot, but confident I could handle it, and with a very positive mindset (I read that was important) but it was no match for the pain. We're all different though. Maybe my body just really wasn't ready.

@strawberrysummer19 I get lower back ache and did with my previous pregnancy. I put it down to the hormone relaxin.
