I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

@Novavee great news!

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 13:39

@paintfairy that's brilliant! Good your measurements are reassuring
I didn't get a good picture, she did try but didn't spend that long
It just looks like a blob! But I'm hoping I may get a better pic at my 9wk next week
She said my cysts were slightly smaller but they still look so big and yeah that's why I'm so uncomfortable- least there's an answer and it's good I've had 6wks and now 8wks as I can see the cysts (hopefully shrinking) is the plan

Pregnancy symptoms have really come on
Feel exhaustion and so sick at times, have breathlessness, sore boobs but on and off and a huge bloat!
What how I was feeling nothing!

Do you have any more scans before 12wks?
X

paintfairy · 14/12/2021 13:43

@strawberrysummer19 no i don't have any more booked. I think it would be difficult anyway with Christmas smack bang in the middle. Hopefully my 12 week one won't end up being late. I feel OK mostly. Permanently hungry and nauseous if I don't eat. I do have aversion to some smells and some things I normally eat/drink. But nothing massive.

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 14:30

@paintfairy yes definitely I only booked for next week as fiancé just couldn't get out of today's work so more for him really

X

becarefuloutthere · 14/12/2021 15:38

So pleased to hear all your scans went well ladies 😘
I'm 30 weeks today and just attended my first online Antenatel class, straight into birth chat 😱 I will be a fountain of knowledge for you ladies when you get into the third trimester! 🤗

Etonmess20 · 14/12/2021 15:41

@becarefuloutthere omg 30 weeks, that's gone so so quick - maybe not for you but it has for me 😂 I'm nearly 20 in fairness, these weeks are flying by!!

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 15:55

Just wondering the timeline for when exactly the midwife team call you?
I did my self refer form at 6 and a half weeks and think someone told me it's around 10weeks they contact you, but how does it work for first scan? As that's not much notice from 10weeks to 12weeks - do you know about the scan any sooner?
Just wondering x

Etonmess20 · 14/12/2021 16:14

@strawberrysummer19 I think it can depend where you live. I got my booking appointment letter through with a few weeks notice & then a letter for a 12 week scan (the letter came just before I had my booking appointment at 10 weeks) & so I probably got 3 weeks notice as mine wasn't bang on 12 weeks

Have you had a booking appointment scheduled yet?

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 16:19

@Etonmess20

No I haven't heard anything - I've just checked my email and it says I will hear back within 3 weeks and I registered on 4th Dec so my 3 weeks is up next week so I guess I may be contacted soon. I hope.

X

Etonmess20 · 14/12/2021 16:26

@strawberrysummer19 fingers crossed, post may be a bit slower this time of year too so there may be a letter held up for you somewhere. Maybe phone the hospital if you haven't heard by the end of the 3 weeks incase the letter has got lost too! x

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 16:27

@Etonmess20 yes I will do, thank you for your advice x

Pregxiety241 · 14/12/2021 16:34

@Etonmess20 @JAR1981, thank you both so much for your replies. It’s really comforting to hear that I’m not alone in not having the classic sickness.

Congratulations to all of you ladies who have had scans today. It’s lovely to read all your news and have my fingers crossed I will be posting a similarly positive update soon.

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 16:42

@Pregxiety241 congrats also, I did a post about having no symptoms at 6wks and was worried so my clinic did a reassurance scan for me.

Now fast forward 2 weeks - the sickness has started, I feel on off nauseous throughout the day, absolutely shattered also. Literally came on a few days after my 6wk marker ! I feel very rough. Have breathlessness at times, sore boobs and very bloated.

So I totally relate with the worries of no symptoms as I had nothing!!

This was only 2nd ivf cycle for me and only actually been pregnant once before (my 10 yr old daughter ) but years of TTC with no success I think it just makes you more anxious

Early scans seem to calm me
I had a 6, 8 and I also have a 9
Can't say if I won't book one between 9-12!!
I know they aren't for everyone but for me it's getting to the next hurdle x

paintfairy · 14/12/2021 16:45

@becarefuloutthere 🤣 by the time we are in our third trimester, you'll be way too busy to be giving advice!
@strawberrysummer19 ours is done by phone. I called at 5 weeks. I then got a letter with an appointment and it's next Tuesday. At that point I have to pick my hospital for giving birth and then they refer you over for scans etc. It says you should hear a scan date within 3 weeks from then (which by the end of that 3 weeks, I'll actually then be 12 weeks).

becarefuloutthere · 14/12/2021 17:05

@Etonmess20 they say it speeds up in the second and slows again in the third..,I'm not sure it will for me with Christmas right in the middle. I reckon those last two weeks once I go on mat leave will go slow, unless I'm early of course! 😱
Are you finding out the sex? Can't remember what you said now.
@paintfairy lol you might be right 😝
@strawberrysummer19 I hope you hear soon! Defo depends on your area as to how quick/slow they are.

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 17:38

@becarefuloutthere @paintfairy @Etonmess20
I've literally just had the midwife call!
She offered me a booking app for this Saturday which is the only day I can't do as I've booked a night away and a day full of activities for my finance! She said it was the only one before Xmas but would call me Monday ( just realised that she also said have a good weekend?!) maybe she thought it was Friday ?!
But it's only bloods and she said it's not a problem but they like to do them 8-9 wks

She's sent off for a scan so I should hear soon and it won't delay that so that's good x

becarefuloutthere · 14/12/2021 17:45

@strawberrysummer19 that is good then! Getting the scan date is most important tbh. Booking in is just asking a whole host of questions. Your bloods are prob fine too as the ivf clinic would have picked up if not. That was the case for me anyway.
Your night away sounds good! Hope the weather holds for you 🤞🏾

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 17:54

@becarefuloutthere exactly my thoughts, not saying it's not important- I did explain to the midwife I'm not choosing a night away instead of baby! But there are activities and a rather expensive hotel I really don't fancy losing and it would be cancelling it all

Also I've just had a full blood count recently
and have 2 weekly thyroid tests at the moment as I'm under a consultant so the full blood count they do hopefully I won't have any surprises and like you say with the ivf they do all the heps and hiv etc

Holskey · 14/12/2021 17:59

Lots of scans today and lots of good news! Congratulations @paintfairy @strawberrysummer19 @Novavee and @unknownscot!

Welcome @Pregxiety241! The early days are so difficult, but on the morning sickness front, there's still time for you to get it! But even if you don't, the further you get, the better you feel. The anxiety never goes away, but it definitely gets easier, especially after the scan.

@strawberrysummer I agree the booking in appt isn't that interesting and a night away is definitely better! They've started the ball rolling on the scan so that's the main thing. I only had my booking in appt at 10+2 (because I had to cancel the original which was meant to be 9+2). It was last Thursday and I got my scan letter today for 23/12 so they can move quite quickly 😊

@becarefuloutthere has it been suggested you should be induced at 38 weeks? I think that's standard in my area for ivf babies (at least, it was when I had my first in 2020) so just wondering if it's the same everywhere.

strawberrysummer19 · 14/12/2021 18:13

@Holskey oh that's good then, hopefully I should hear soon. Hope you're well xx

Etonmess20 · 14/12/2021 19:29

@becarefuloutthere yeah I think Christmas will make it go super fast, do you have everything ready for baby arriving?
Nope we're going to have a surprise 💚 neither of us have any desire to find out actually & are quite enjoying the not knowing actually!

@strawberrysummer19 her ears must have been burning, so funny she called you 😂 so glad you know everything is in hand now though, least you know you haven't been forgotten!

@Holskey that's interesting you say about being induced at 38 weeks. I've been kept as shared care & been given growth scans for 28/32/36 weeks due to being an IVF pregnancy (no other high risk flags). I do wonder whether I may get induced early (wouldn't be averse to it personally but I know some people would rather not)

becarefuloutthere · 14/12/2021 19:40

@strawberrysummer19 defo right choice then! Sounds like a fab night away, I'm jel! 😏
@Holskey that was suggested actually but only if the growth scans showed she was big. I then moved areas (from London to bucks) and didn't have growth scans as standard so I was bk to low risk again. Until last week when I was measured for the second time n told she was bloody massive 😂 so waiting on a date for a growth scan now. I guess if she continues to be huge they'll suggest inducing but I'd really rather not. The stories I've heard, plus I'm all for it being as natural as possible as long as there's no danger etc.
@Etonmess20 nearly yeah. The travel system arrived today so need to play with that at the weekend. I've got breast pumping stuff coming this week too and then just bath stuff left and nappies/wipes etc which I've asked for from friends as my sister wants to throw me a shower.
Ah yes, I remember now. So fun finding out at the birth, like it used to be! My impatience wouldn't allow it. We found out at 16 weeks 😂

Tinyhappypeople · 14/12/2021 19:46

Sorry I’ve not been on here for ages. I’m completely freaking out. I had a scan today at 6+3 and saw a heartbeat. Felt extra crampy this evening, just been to the toilet and I’m bleeding quite a bit. The pain literally feels like a milder version of the bleed/ period I had after my chemical from the first transfer. I’m sure this is over now for me but I have no idea what to do right now. I’m on my own and the last place I want to go is hospital when I know they won’t be able to actually do anything.

Anyone had this after a scan and it’s been ok???

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/12/2021 20:13

@Tinyhappypeople - if you are bleeding quite a bit, I would go to your nearest EPU if you can or at least ring your IVF clinic asap for advice (do you have an emergency number for them or do you have to wait till morning?). You are right in that they very likely can't stop what's happening - but I'm sure heavier bleeding or pain must be two of the "allowable" reasons to get checked out even though it's early days, since it's as much about your health as the baby? I'm sorry btw Sad

Etonmess20 · 14/12/2021 21:36

@becarefuloutthere so exciting! What did you go for? Nice that it seems you're sorted for the last few bits as well too although it's one of those things that I'm sure you'll need something at some point & be like oh shit I forgot that (I know I will!) 😂
I don't blame you, it does feel weird to know that we could know now but we don't know! We went for a scan a week & a half ago at 17 weeks & the sonographer was like "are you sure" & we were both like "no thanks"
