I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

Thank you @Novavee and @Holskey for your support. You’re both right! I wish I’d never started with the Clearblue tests but I’m done with them.

Spent the evening reading ‘Ordinary Miracles’ by Kristi McVicker, it’s very relatable - about her infertility and IVF journey. It helped me get out of my anxiety mode and see the bigger picture - thoroughly recommend it...I’m reading a lot of books on women overcoming infertility at the moment and finally being together with their miracles, I feel these types of books calm me down x

@Holskey and @Novavee I've got no idea why, I suppose 8w on the dot would be pretty definitive and that might be why? I'm just so freaked out that by the time I get there they won't see any heartbeat, I know that you get proportionally more sad stories shared on the internet but I'm just so scared that none of my symptoms mean anything (like retching because my cupboard smelled wrong this morning). It's either going to be the best or the shittest Christmas ever and I'm going out of my mind Sad

JAR1981 · 09/12/2021 10:13

@TheSnufflet sorry your scan got rescheduled. If you can wait 8 weeks it will be more definite though. Otherwise could you book a private scan elsewhere a week or 10 days earlier? Where are you based?

@ParisinNovember good to hear you’ve stepped away from the tests. Those things are a nightmare and having a beta is a much better idea! I found the charts on Betabase really helpful to compare my doubling times. I had mine at 9, 12 and 16 days post transfer and my doubling times were 44, 62 and 68 hours from memory. I got worried as I started really high (290 at 9DP) and then it slowed down a lot which had my panicked but this is pretty normal. I read a LOT about HCG levels over those few days (not recommended!!). If you are doubling every 48 hours then think @RiverRiot is right it would be 4800, but think if you’re 72 hours doubling the minimum it should be will be a lot lower - more like 1600 (unless my maths is out!). Good luck, are your results same day or tomorrow?

Sorry for those that have itchy bumps. My bump is fine however I have very itchy shins with what looks like prickly heat. So weird! I’m assuming it’s pregnancy related but a very unexpected symptom!

Holskey · 09/12/2021 10:43

@TheSnufflet my scan was scheduled for 8 weeks but I couldn't wait and had a private scan 7+1. (I know that's less than a week out but I was so sick and needed to see a baby in there!) The 8 week scan was brilliant though, much better than the 6+5 scan I had with my first pregnancy. The 7+1 scan I had privately was rubbish really. It was abdominal and I could barely see anything, but it did confirm a live baby so it ruled out MMC and molar pregnancy. If you're very anxious/impatient, it's worth considering.

Hufflepuff1 · 09/12/2021 10:48

@Novavee my anxiety is sky high this time due to miscarriage in my last cycle. I'm trying to protect my heart but regardless I will be devastated if it happens again. This time I had my hcg tested at 13dp5dt and it was 768 which I read was great but I made the mistake of testing on a clearblue and it's not progressing from 2-3weeks despite using FMU etc. I tested this morning and it says 2-3 weeks and I've calculated that if my hcg has doubled as it should from 13dp5dt then I should be well above the 3+ level on those tests. I went back on Monday to get my blood tested again but they couldn't get any blood out! I've gone to my GP today and had some more bloods taken, I won't find out until early next week what they are as they aren't as fast as private clinics but I'm so anxious and worried. I'm normally a very strong person and have the attitude 'it is what it is' so I'm not sure what is going on with me. It doesn't help that I have no symptoms at all. Hope you are having a better time than me 💜

Monday55 · 09/12/2021 10:55

I'm 10weeks+5 and haven't had an itchy bump yet but I've definitely had an itchy vagina because of the crinone pessary that I'm using twice a day. It recently just started irritating me and I've got exactly 2weeks supply to go. I can't wait to stop it and I'm sure I'm going to get thrush before it's all over. My midwife just told me to use off-the shelf creams if I get too itchy.

I'm getting excess leukorrhea aswell, my body is working overtime trying to clean itself.

My 12 week scan is scheduled for 24th December so we are either going to have a great Xmas or a shitty one depending on the news.

Monday55 · 09/12/2021 11:00

I did see a heartbeat at 7weeks+3 scab but have since read a lot of stories of women who see a heartbeat at 6/7/8weeks who go on to their 12weeks scan only to be told the heartbeat stopped at 10/11weeks. So the anxiety for me has always been there, because there's nothing to say it won't happen to me Sad

Holskey · 09/12/2021 11:01

@Hufflepuff1 if you go to page 14 on this thread, you'll see that cyclegirl got 1-2 weeks on CB and when she had her hcg blood test, the result came back above the 2-3 threshold. They're just not reliable.

@Monday55 oh a Christmas eve scan 🥰 I hope.its a magical Christmas for you. I'm 10+2 and hoping I get my scan the same week as you but it may have to be after Christmas. Had to delay my booking appt to today so I've not even heard yet 🤞

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 11:13

@Monday55 yes and that's a huge concern. Which is why I can't see the point in having weekly scans? You could have one every week until 12 weeks and it go wrong then, so how did all the extra ones help? Its hard and it's bloody rubbish. But there's nothing anyone can do and having a scan every week is only making it worse in my opinion.
My first one is next week at 8+1. I'm blissfully ignorant to anything going on right now and in a way I think I'd prefer it to stay that way! But I don't think I'll feel any better after going, because I'll still just be worrying about getting to 12 weeks. 🤦‍♀️ And then 20. And so on! So I think you just have to try and switch off to it to a degree. 🤷‍♀️ Otherwise it's going to be 9 months of sheer anxiety.

Etonmess20 · 09/12/2021 11:33

@paintfairy I was just coming on to say the same thing about the wait between scans & trying to switch off/think positively

@Monday55 my 20 week is Christmas Eve as well & im still just as nervous as I was for my first scan at 7+3 & my 12 week scan. It definitely think it gets a bit easier after the 12 week scan but the anxiety never completely goes away. Even when they're born I think there's just a different set of things to be anxious about. Sending lots of love because it is really difficult x

Holskey · 09/12/2021 15:07

We all have our own ways of dealing with anxiety. Some women would have weekly scans if they could to make themselves feel better. I personally wouldn't have one before my 12 week scan now, but I didn't want to wait until 8 weeks to rule out molar pregnancy, especially as I felt so unwell. It's a personal decision based on our own circumstances and fears.

ParisinNovember · 09/12/2021 15:54

Please has anyone got any advice? I just got my beta back. It was 150 at 9dp5dt. It is now 10 days later and it’s 927. Am I miscarrying? Is an ectopic? I feel sick.

TheSnufflet · 09/12/2021 16:56

Oh @ParisinNovember you poor thing - I don't have any experience with betas as my clinic don't do them, but from what I understand they are supposed to more or less double every 72 hours? So you may well be within the right range? Have you contacted the clinic for advice? I have everything crossed for you Flowers

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 17:10

@ParisinNovember did they not say anything when they told you the result? My clinic doesn't do them either, so I'm honestly not sure what they are supposed to be.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/12/2021 18:15

I agree that unfortunately having extra scans won't help with anxiety until you are at least 24 weeks - the midwives I spoke to made it very clear there is nothing they can/will do till that stage when baby is potentially viable. 2 different ones mentioned it to me at my early telephone and "in person" booking appointments (without my asking anything so I guess it's standard practise). I was very stressed about it, but I suppose it's to discourage too many women from going to the EPU unless they are bleeding heavily or having ectopic type pains.

And just to warn you that having said that, I'm past 24 weeks now and for me at least in some ways the anxiety is even harder Flowers- because I know now that if somethings wrong (less movements etc) it's up to me to notice and do something as they might be just able to help him - where as before when I felt no obvious pregnancy symptoms I could tell myself "Oh well, there's likely nothing they can do anyway"!

Holskey · 09/12/2021 19:32

@ParisinNovember everything I 'know' about beta numbers, I learnt here so there isn't much I can add except I hope you can speak to your clinic soon and I'm sorry your numbers aren't as you'd expect 💐

@IamnotwhouthinkIam I have a friend who found out at her 12 week scan that her baby didn't live beyond 6 weeks 💔 It wouldn't change anything, but she wishes she had known sooner. She had morning sickness too. It's always stuck with me. The anxiety never goes away though; I think we can all agree on that!

ParisinNovember · 09/12/2021 20:22

Thanks for your help girls

@paintfairy I got a private test done not at the clinic, just a lab as I didn’t want my clinic to think I was being neurotic and it was just for peace of mind. Well, turns out I didn’t get any peace.

I have spoken to my clinic, they have said the results do need further investigation - another blood test in 48hrs and potentially a scan. The doctor ran through all symptoms with me of an ectopic. I think it’s over for me now. I’m just hoping it’s a miscarriage and not an ectopic. As I want it over before Xmas. Sorry to be a downer. I was so pleased to have been able to be on a pregnancy thread, no matter how short lived it has been.

I wish all you girls successful pregnancies and I hope that one day I will be sharing your joy again and this time for the whole thing

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/12/2021 21:24

@Holskey - Yes, I totally agree that if there was anything wrong, I'd want to know asap too. I had a private early Nipt, and still keep worrying about symptoms I'm having (or not) between scans for that reason Blush. I just wanted to prepare others (that based on what I'd been told) that professionals might be willing to be helpful or not at the early stages. Though I really hope women would be able to get scanned anyway if they felt there was something not right! I'm sorry about your friend Sad

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/12/2021 21:37

@ParisinNovember - I'm sorry Sad, I hope the symptoms/numbers are somehow wrong and it all works out. But if not, I have my fingers crossed for you that it's not ectopic at least Flowers

Holskey · 09/12/2021 21:56

Oh @ParisinNovember how awful 💔 I genuinely don't know how definite the situation is, but if there's a chance it could work out okay, I really hope it does x

Novavee · 09/12/2021 22:28

@Hufflepuff1 oh I am sorry about your miscarriage and I can appreciate how that would make you even more anxious this time around. I am not an anxious person by nature either but I think going through ivf (whatever the reason behind it) makes us more informed and as such so much more aware of everything that could go wrong, that we are constantly hyper alert to everything and predicting the worst. And if you already had a bad experience even more so. I am keeping everything crossed for you.

I honestly had such a crazy week at work so far that it has helped in a way. I still don't feel pregnant. I have had some scary cramps the last couple of days but that's all. I felt more during the tww than now.

@ParisinNovember I am sorry your test was not as you expected. I do hope your next one will bring you better news.

RiverRiot · 12/12/2021 09:07

@ParisinNovember Oh I am so sorry to see this! I really hope it isn’t ectopic and you get some answers quickly! Sending you lots of love. 💜

@Frenchie86 Did you have your 10wk scan? Hoping everything went well for you? xx

@JAR1981 It’s lovely you’ll meet your midwife before Christmas and good luck for your scan tomorrow!
I found the wait between 8-12 wk scans went quickly but as we’re telling everyone at Xmas I’m debating getting a private scan this week to make sure I’m still pregnant, which I realise sounds totally barmy at 14wks now but I’d just rather not have to ‘untell’ everyone if there’s bad news to come.
Oh the joys this journey brings us eh?! 🙈

Frenchie86 · 12/12/2021 14:03

@RiverRiot so sorry I forgot to come back here and update you! I had it and the baby looks perfect so far, we are still waiting on the harmony blood test results but hopefully they will be reassuring too. I have my 12 week scan this Wednesday as well which seems to have come by both very slowly and quickly. I can feel myself relaxing a little bit more now and hoping it continues! How are you doing? X

unknownscot · 13/12/2021 08:28

Hi.
I've not posted on here but I'm currently 12+5 after our 1st FET from our third round of IVF.

I stopped my progesterone and oestrogen as told at 12 weeks and have felt so anxious since then.

Bloating has gone way down (meaning so has my bloat bump) making me feel not pregnant.
I'm not up as much during the night to pee.

Is this all normal?

I have a scan tomorrow and I'm so nervous!
X
