@WannabeCountryBumpkin - sending you lots of strength ❤️

@RosieT92 - yes, time is going SO slowly!!

@Effram - did you have a home birth for your first baby as well? It’s something I think I’d be keen on but know it can be trickier if it’s the first baby.

@laurenGame - Diego 😂. Unless he comes from a Spanish/Latin American background then I’d veto it too!

@Nursemommy - I didn’t speak to anyone either. All online via self referral and then the automatic emails and patient portal notified me of the appointments.

Does anyone attend gym classes? Have you/when will you tell the class instructor you’re pregnant? I’m only 4w+4 so I know exercise modifications are not currently really needed, but I’ve also read you should tell the fitness instructor as soon as you find out??

i123i · 26/10/2021 13:13

Actually 4w+5 today. But same difference!

Darma87 · 26/10/2021 13:15

Hopeful that I'll be joining you ladies, period due today but I've been feeling nauseous since the weekend, with some headaches and today cramps. I've not tested yet though, trying to hold off to test on DPs birthday on Thursday, hopefully will be an extra special day! 😅

i123i · 26/10/2021 13:18

@Darma87 - welcome! That would be SUCH a special birthday. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

laurenGame · 26/10/2021 13:20

@i123i I do Pilates and yes I've told my instructor, mostly because if we stop during the class the teacher pushes/encourages us. Whereas if I stop then I just don't want her to harass me 😂
Also a lot of girls would come hungover to their weekend classes and she'd go extra hard on them. I don't want that thanks 😄

What classes are you doing? If it's like body pump then I'd say you've to tell your instructor 💯

I've been on the fence about running. GP said it's fine and I love running but it doesn't sit quite right with me, as running is quite impactful ..?

(Re: the name: nothing Spanish in us, we're both Europeans so Diego is so not acceptable 🤣)

annie1994 · 26/10/2021 13:25

Hello everyone!

I’ve not long found out I’m pregnant with my second child! Im 4+3 and due 2nd July. With my son I didn’t get morning sickness till 7ish weeks but I already can’t go too long without food and I’m only 4 weeks 🤢 hope everyone is ok x

camvt · 26/10/2021 13:32

@i123i I did lots of Mumhood classes my previous pregnancy and loved them!

mum-hood.com/

You can either sign up for their programme or their classes are also available through moveyourframe.com/

I haven't done their programme, only the classes through Frame.

i123i · 26/10/2021 13:50

@laurenGame - same! I do Reformer Pilates, normal Pilates, and then a class where you do TRX and kettlebells. Usually I like being pushed (and the instructors know me well so they do), but the last few classes I’ve not felt comfortable when they do as I worry it’ll harm the baby. So I’ll be sure to tell them at the beginning of class next time. I’ve been running since ovulation day/conception, but dialled down the pace so I’m about 20 seconds per km slower than I’d normally run, so a more leisurely pace, and also never more than twice a week or more than 8km. I think it’s fine as long as you feel ok (and do your pelvic floor exercises 😆)

@camvt - ah thanks, yes I’ve read about those! Used to go to Frame in studio classes quite a lot before I moved neighbourhoods, although they’re all still only 30 minutes or so away from me now. May check it out and their online offerings too. Although I’d feel like a fraud turning up without a bump yet 😂

@annie1994 - welcome!! So funny how every pregnancy is different even for the same woman.

Effram · 26/10/2021 13:53

@i123i I planned a home birth with my first but he came at 36 weeks so we went in - actually with the power of hindsight I wish I had stayed at home, as he was 6lb12 and obviously just ready to come! but obviously it was my first time.

I would really, hugely recommend a home birth. It was such a wonderful, empowering experience and so lovely to just snuggle up in bed with my husband and our new baby afterwards - and my eldest coming in too when he woke up! There is an amazing Facebook group that has lots of info if you're interested? Loads of FTM there too! My two friends who had babies first out of my friends both had home births for their 1st and 2nd babies, so I think for me that seemed normal and made sense. Especially during the pandemic when visiting was restricted and I felt risk of infection was higher in hospital it just didn't make sense to me to choose anything but staying home! (also don't think I'd have made it in anyway, my second birth was 1hr20 start to finish!)

I was thinking about the exercise question too. my husband and I see a pt together and I did yesterday's session without thinking about it and half way through thought ooh... maybe I should say something! so I think I'll tell him before next week. I played netball and ran until 16 weeks with my first but lifting and twisting feels a bit more...precarious?

Effram · 26/10/2021 13:54

@annie1994 welcome and congrats - I am the same! I had a basically symptomless first pregnancy and hardly anything in my second. I have been really queasy since the off this time esp if I let myself get hungry!

i123i · 26/10/2021 14:11

@Effram - thanks so much for that reassurance. That’s exactly what I thought. Lovely you had a great experience. I’ve heard so many positive things about it. On my self referral form I didn’t put down home birth - which I regret - but I’m doing to tell them at my first appointment/ask them to refer me to the home birth team. Yes please, I’d be interested in the Facebook group.
Totally agree the twisting moves I do in class now don’t fully feel like a great idea.

Effram · 26/10/2021 14:22

One thing I did get told early on was it's much easier to move 'up' from home to midwife led to hospital than down, and often booking for a homebirth means you get appointments at home sometimes so even if you're not sure I recommend it to people for that while deciding!!

Cruz86 · 26/10/2021 16:14

Ahh I've missed so much in here in such a short space of time! Need to keep up with the messages.

Firstly, so sorry to hear about your baby @CarpeDiem83 😞 I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to go through something like that and how you must be feeling now with this pregnancy. I wish you a happy & healthy journey.

@Elsols93 yes my cramps come at night time! I'm spending most of my evenings with a hot water bottle on my hips/bottom of my back. I was team yellow last pregnancy but we will be finding out this time round to make it easier for my little boy to understand, so we can say baby brother or sister!

Hope your UTI clears up soon @Missy95!

Really sorry to hear about what's happening @WannabeCountryBumpkin. Wish you all the best.

I'm also starving all the time and if I leave it too long in between food, I start to feel nauseous!

I'm paying for an early scan because I just can't get my head around waiting until 12 weeks to then find something isn't right. That's my anxiety talking though.

I would LOVE a home birth but I suffered with ptsd after my first and enduring an emergency section, so it does worry me that something like that could happen again. Lots to discuss with the midwife!

WannabeCountryBumpkin · 26/10/2021 16:17

Thank you everyone x

Nursemommy · 26/10/2021 16:43

@WannabeCountryBumpkin thinking of you lots xxxx

annie1994 · 26/10/2021 17:13

@Effram thank you and to you as well! What gender are your other two children? My partner is definite this is a girl as ‘supposedly’ girls give you worse morning sickness. I think he just wants a little daddy’s girl 😂

Effram · 26/10/2021 17:17

Two boys! I was a bit sickier last time than the first so was convinced it was a girl... Nope! Maybe this time I'm sicky enough... 🤔

Effram · 26/10/2021 17:19

@Cruz86 so sorry about your previous experience,so awful. My first birth wasn't as bad as some but it was definitely quite shocking and upsetting. The homebirth was the opposite - another reason I went for it was there is much much lower rate of interventions. Definitely worth talking through everything with your midwife, I hope you are well supported and this time can be healing for you

Trinxsy · 26/10/2021 17:58

Hi ladies! Thought I'd join as just got my BFP at 3 weeks 5 days! Had a MC in July at 8 weeks so understandably a bit nervous. Due date is 9th July and I'm so hopeful that this is a sticky baby! It's a strong dark BFP unlike my July MC so I'm feeling a little positive!

laurenGame · 26/10/2021 20:41

Wow @i123i you do amazing account of exercise. Pilates I have 3 x diff levels and I've stopped doing the hardest (advanced), I've stopped running.. dont Know why I've decided it's not healthy. You've reassured me

@Effram so nice how home birth makes you feel 🥰 I'm actually a rare person in that I love hospitals 😁 they give me this sense of calmness, I feel so safe around so many healthcare specialists. even after surgeries I want to stay as long as I can and get disappointed when they tell me I can go home Grin plus I've been paying private for bloody years so I want to use their services . I also work in healthcare so I prob feel more 'at home' in hospitals x

DawnWW · 26/10/2021 21:14

Hi everyone 👋

Tested Saturday and got my first positive, 2-3 weeks and judging by dates date would be 2nd July so world live to join the group.

Still very worried something will go wrong so trying not to get excited. This will be my first child, I'm 38 and feel like I have no idea what I'm doing!

Also spent over an hour and a half waiting to get through to doctors to just get a text message to register myself online. Is this normal? Seemed strange to me. I'm completely lost!

Missy95 · 26/10/2021 21:28

Hi @DawnWW welcome to the group and congratulations! ❤️

It seems a lot of GPs are suggesting you do a self referral form. And you should be contacted by the midwife team within 5 working days I believe. I self referred and then rang the midwife direct because I needed to get sorted with earlier scans, but I only had her number from a previous pregnancy- otherwise I wouldn't have a toffee what to do or who to call. Im still not 100% 🤣 xx

DawnWW · 26/10/2021 21:32

@Missy95 I submitted the info and it said I would be contacted within 2 weeks but a number did come up so I might just call. I think just because of the age and history I'm higher risk and feel like I need a bit of help 🤷🏼‍♀️

Considering paying for an early private scan just to confirm it's not ectopic...

i123i · 26/10/2021 21:32

@Trinxsy - welcome! Sorry to hear about your loss and wishing you all the best with this pregnancy 🙏🏻

@DawnWW - welcome!! This is also my first, age 34, and I’m working it out as I go. Also trying not to get too excited. I did an antenatal self referral form on the hospital group website. I’m not actually registered with my local GP as we moved neighbourhood recently so need to do that ASAP!

Elsols93 · 26/10/2021 21:34

Currently just woke up from a 3 hour nap whilst putting my little boy down 😂 tiredness is very real!

Welcome anyone new trying to catch up half asleep can guarantee I will not sleep tonight now 😩
