Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

Also - for those a bit further along. When did you start "showing".

I seem to be looking quite pregnant but I think it's too early so I'm assuming it's just a Christmas weight gain thing?

chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 20:42

I have a question about cramping. In my previous two losses I've experienced period type cramps. My first loss ended at 5 weeks and the cramps only lasted a few days. My second loss was a mmc, baby stopped drowning at just under 6 weeks but didn't find out until 8 weeks. I had period cramps again with that until 6 weeks.

So my question is to anyone who has got further than six weeks, when do the period cramps end? Like I can't understand if they're a good or bad sign for me. I don't seem to be getting them as bad with this pregnancy which is also worrying 🙈 I guess every pregnancy is different but do they usually end after the time you'd expect your period?

@Hopingforarainbow27

@chasingtherainbow1 I still get the period type cramps and I’m 19 weeks - I don’t think it has anything to do with your period really it just feels the same as it’s the same area. It’s everything stretching and growing. It can be quite scary when you’ve had a previous loss but isn’t a bad sign xx

Loulou237 · 19/01/2022 21:08

Sorry didn’t mean to tag you then @Hopingforarainbow27

Loulou237 · 19/01/2022 21:09

@OnceUponAThread I show really early I was very obviously pregnant at 12 weeks I think! Everyone is different though xx

I was still getting them at 13 weeks when I KNOW everything was fine (scan).

I still get them now when I hope everything is fine (no reason to think not, just persistent anxiety).

Not all the time, just periodic weird cramping.

My whole uterus also hurts and cramps when I cough. (Very annoying since I have a cough).

Oh maybe I am just showing lots then. I got asked when I was due by a random person at 11 weeks. 😬

chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 21:12

@Loulou237 thanks, I think my main worry is the cramps not being as strong this time. Because I had them with my other two losses then when the cramps stopped, I lost the babies. I'm just worried that because the cramps aren't as strong this time it's bad news. Cos I wish I could fast forward time and just know if it was going to be ok or not

OnceUponAThread · 19/01/2022 21:19

@chasingtherainbow1 is it worth an early scan just to reassure? I can't remember if you had one yet.

I called my doctors and explained that I was terrified and anxious due to MC earlier this year and she referred me to EPAGU for one.

I found it such a help.

susiebluebell · 19/01/2022 21:20

I also still get cramps almost every day (especially those big ones when you cough omg @OnceUponAThread!) although I'd say I've learnt to distinguish them from period cramps. These are more on the sides, and feel like a stabbing/stretching pain. Whereas with the miscarriages it was a very strong cramping right deep in the middle, no mistaking it. Like period cramps but more intense.

Isn't the coughing awful. Also - have you had a cough while lying on your front yet? Awful. Dreadful. I thought I'd ruptured something.
chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 21:24

@OnceUponAThread yeah I have one a week in Friday at the EPU as I had to see them last week for medication, Friday seems like ages away 🙈 just trying to get through each day as it comes until then.

I guess it just feels like it's never going to happen for me. I'm hoping they offer further scans after if everything is well. I should be 6w1d next Friday but that's going on lmp and I ovulate a bit later than average. Need to keep reminding myself of that in case I don't measure as far on as I expect.

I've got everything crossed for you for Friday!!!

I think I had:

6 week scan - EPAGU
9 week scan - Private
12 week scan - hospital (measured at 11 weeks)
14 week scan (now 13 week scan as behind - hospital (because they couldn't do NT at 12 weeks as measuring a week behind. Due date now changed).

And then I have booked
16 week scan - private to hopefully find out sex.
20 week scan - hospital.

chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 21:47

@OnceUponAThread thank you ☺️ They all seem like weeks that I'd like scans on too. I bet it's totally worth the scan for the peace of mind!
I'm hoping the EPU will offer another one after 6 weeks but I'm not sure they will.

Am I the only one who finds pregnancy after loss completely consuming? Like my work is suffering because I find my mind wandering and worrying whilst i should be working. I can occupy my mind outside of work most of the time!

Totally consuming and it sucks all the joy out of it for me because I worry so much that something has gone wrong.

The post-scan weeks (and scan days in particular after it's done) are lovely gorgeous joyful things.

But then for me it's just a slow build of anxiety until I am terrified the day before the next one.

That said, the further I get the less despairing it is. I know my odds improve with every passing week.

I think 20 week scan will be a big one for me as I'm worried about anomalies.

I also long to be able to feel him / her moving. I think that will make such a big difference for me.

chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 21:59

@OnceUponAThread it really does take all the joy out of it. Like you said though, hopefully after a certain point you can start to relax. I think 20 weeks can would be a good time to start enjoying it!

OnceUponAThread · 19/01/2022 22:03

@chasingtherainbow1 exactly! Although no doubt I'll find something to worry about at post 20. 😬😂

chasingtherainbow1 · 19/01/2022 22:11

@OnceUponAThread oh yeah I'd be exact the same! Then something else once they're born 😂

Newbean · 21/01/2022 15:48

GinnyBee · 21/01/2022 16:04

@OnceUponAThread Yes my notifications are being shit too! I didn't get any for this thread again and only noticed it was active as it was near the top of the list. Annoying!

My boss had suspicions before I told him I was pregnant at 14 weeks, so I guess I was "showing" from around 12ish weeks or so, but only so that people who know me in my usual state would notice - bloated around the midsection! Then my bump really popped around 20 weeks and went from looking like maybe had too much cake to obviously preggers within about a week!

@chasingtherainbow1 I didn't really get any period cramps at all, with any of my pregnancies really. Not that I remember anyway! Good luck for the scan!

OnceUponAThread · 21/01/2022 16:11

@chasingtherainbow1 is your scan today, or next Friday? Crossing fingers and toes in case today! X

OnceUponAThread · 21/01/2022 16:12

@GinnyBee - so weird on notifications. And it's this thread in particular that's weird for me. It's also not showing in the "I'm on" section of the app. I spotted it popping up in active too, otherwise might not have checked.

Very irritating.

Hope everyone has had good weeks and all bumps are behaving themselves!

chasingtherainbow1 · 21/01/2022 17:10

Some of my threads don't notify me either but some do. Weird!

Thanks guys, the scan is next Friday. It's actually gone quite quick to say it was booked over a week ago! Keeping my fingers crossed everything will be as it should be 🤞

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/01/2022 17:35

My scan is on Wednesday and no one is allowed in with me, so anxious! I've never had good news and to do it alone is heartbreaking

chasingtherainbow1 · 21/01/2022 17:41

@Hopingforarainbow27 same here 😭 In my last pregnancy I was 6 and half weeks and I was dated back to 5 weeks, I told them it was impossible because my partner had been away. We saw a heartbeat and everyone was being positive but I knew it was going to be bad news next time. The next scan showed the baby never grew passed that point.

So now am I not only scared of not seeing anything, I'm scared of being put back even a few days! It's so awful going alone isn't it 😞
