Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

Hi @Loulou237 - I'm doing ok. Measured behind at last scan so couldn't do the nuchal scan, so rebooked in for first week in January (7th).

Doctors assured me all is fine and not to worry, but can't help feeling a little anxious that bubs isn't growing right. Trying to relax and enjoy Christmas and not worry too much.

Such a long wait though.

How are you doing? X

susiebluebell · 26/12/2021 22:15

I am good, 10.5 weeks and symptoms getting milder (almost no nausea, boobs less sore)... Been feeling more relaxed about the pregnancy, but still nervous for my 12wk scan in a couple of weeks.

Hope everyone has been having a lovely Christmas xx

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 07:26

Hi ladies, sorry @OnceUponAThread I didn’t see this earlier. How much behind were you measuring? I’m sure if doctor says it’s all fine it’s just one of those things and you will be able to get the measurements soon. Not too long to wait now, I hope you’re not feeling to nervous and have had a good Christmas.

@susiebluebell I’m pleased you’re feeling a bit better now! Not long til your 12 week scan that makes it so much more real.

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas even though we’re not allowed to drink! I did have the odd glass of red and sip of baileys I must admit. I’m most upset by the lack of Brie tbh

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 07:27

P.s @OnceUponAThread I’m doing ok, very achey at the moment like period pains which opens up a whole new world of worry. I have midwife appointment today so will hopefully hear the heartbeat and we have our gender scan on Sunday so not long to wait and hopefully I’ll be able to relax then?! I keep saying that eek xx

SamBass · 29/12/2021 08:06

Hello All
Can i join??
I got a BFP on 2.12.21 after a MMC in March 21. 2 weeks ago i had bleeding and awful cramps however the EPAU wouldn't see me so we paid for a private scan last Friday. During the scan we was dated 5w 5d with no heart beat, we expected to be over 6 weeks!! Apparently i had a
Ruptured cyst which caused the pain and bleeding
Thankfully we were referred to EAPU two days later and a scan showed we were measuring 6w and a heart beat was seen ☺️
Im now 7w 2d and so anxious and worried.....from 6w I had nausea, sore boobs and fatigue. However the last two days the nausea has gone, my boobs are less sore and I seem to have more energy....I'm worried it might be another MMC as loss of symptoms was a sign last time! 😫 I don't know what to do with myself my due date would be 15.08.22 i am just waiting for my 12 week scan letter

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 08:42

Hi @SamBass I remember you from the ttc thread! Congratulations 🥳 I’m so sorry it’s so worrying isn’t it. The whole of the first trimester I was a bundle of nerves so I don’t really have any advice. I did get to the point where I was just sick of worrying and took a ‘what will be will be’ approach, thinking it is all out of our hands completely, if anything goes wrong there’s nothing anyone can do at this stage so even though that sounds depressing in itself it means that worrying won’t help anything. So much easier to say when it’s someone else though!
Also regarding symptoms mine would go away for a couple of days then hit me like a bus every 3 or 4 days I think it’s where your body gets used to the level of hormones and then it rises again and makes you feel horrid all over again. Just hang in there and try not to worry too much. Also I would recommend a private scan if you ever feel too anxious to wait. Sorry for the essay xxx

GinnyBee · 29/12/2021 09:16

@Loulou237 I had Brie! 😂 I've deemed the risk from pasteurised and well packaged cheese to be such low risk that it's not really even a risk at all, anything in my fridge is just as likely to have listeria but I can't avoid it all!

@SamBass Welcome and congrats of the recent BFP! My symptoms eased off significantly around 7 weeks, I'm now 20+1. The placenta starts taking over from 7 weeks onwards which is why symptoms may get easier around then. Mine then came back a few weeks later, I think it was around 13 weeks. Could you get a private scan before your nt-scan if you're worried? I was lucky to be offered three reassurance scans at the EPU this time and it really did help. At the start time goes so slowly!

SamBass · 29/12/2021 09:22

@Loulou237 I remember you too! Congratulations to you 😁 I completely appreciate the what will be will be approach and some days im really good at deploying it other days not so much...
its seems strange to say but i want to feel awful with symptoms as its a comfort! All other symptoms have gone now although I have started with heartburn right after i eat so not sure what to make of that ... 2 days before my private scan last time my symptoms stopped and the MMC was confirmed so im a nervous wreck!
Were going for a private scan again a week on Sunday i should be 9 weeks as that will be just past last time so feels like a milestone to aim for and bridges the gap for the 12w NHS scan...

SamBass · 29/12/2021 09:27

@GinnyBee thank you for replying ☺️ that's interesting to know about your symptoms dropping around 7 weeks...I thought the placenta developed around 10 and thats when to expect symptoms to disappear....
its all so very confusing and of course every pregnancy is different!

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 10:18

@SamBass oh yeah I totally get the wanting to feel terrible haha! I hope you feel ridiculously ill over the next few days 😂 good idea on the 9 week scan, not too long to wait!

@GinnyBee ah did you, I do feel it’s all a bit ott and if we were in France we’d be eating it daily. I just did some online research and got mixed results so thought just leave it. Although baked Brie just isn’t the same, I might have a little bit …

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 11:48

Ladies please help me, I have my second covid jab booked in for this afternoon and I’ve done so much research and spoken to my gp etc about the effects of covid in pregnancy and I know it’s a lot more dangerous than the vaccine but I have this voice in the back of my head thinking what if there’s long term effects on the baby that we don’t know about yet?! Can everyone please tell me your opinions and whether you’ve had them etc, as I’m on the verge of cancelling it. Also I don’t want to have any side effects as I have plans at the weekend arg I hate being so indecisive xx

GinnyBee · 29/12/2021 11:57

@Loulou237 I had my booster a couple weeks ago and didn't get any side effects. And after my second jab in July (pre-pregnancy) I only had a sore arm for 24 hours. I personally would get it as Omicron seems to be spreading like wildfire, people are dropping with it all over the shop!

itssquidstella · 29/12/2021 12:32

I also had my booster a few weeks ago. Had a sore arm for about 36 hours but no other ill effects. I also had a scan subsequently and baby was fine!

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 13:04

Thanks ladies I think I’m gonna just go for it and hopefully turn my whirring brain off xxx

susiebluebell · 29/12/2021 18:33

@Loulou237 Oh I've been eating loads of Brie! Also had a couple of small drinks. As much as I'm anxious about other aspects, I really refuse to get hung up on the food and drink stuff.

@SamBass I'm another who remembers you! No advice, just want to reassure you I've literally just been through the exact roller-coaster of fears and worries that you describe. Hugs!

SamBass · 29/12/2021 18:48

@susiebluebell I remember you too! Hope your well.
Did your symptoms disappear too? My minds in overdrive but im trying to hold out until a private 9 week scan but its so hard...

Loulou237 · 29/12/2021 19:14

@susiebluebell I know what you mean it can get a bit much can’t it. And it’s chriiiiiiistmas!

I heard the heartbeat for the first time today at my midwife appointment it was amazing and so reassuring! Hold on everyone til your next scan/appointment, it’ll all be worth it Smile xxx

SamBass · 29/12/2021 19:31

@Loulou237 aww im so pleased for you it must have been so emotional ☺️ its so nice seeing a fee of us on here from the TTC thread! 🤞🏼

GinnyBee · 29/12/2021 20:51

@susiebluebell Yep I'm exactly the same! It didn't make a jot of difference in my two previous pregnancies following every restriction and guidance to the letter, I miscarried anyway. This time I'm looking more into the actual science behind the recommendations because this whole journey has been miserable enough already, and am finding that some of them are just completely overcautious. Cultural differences are also noticeable, and yet healthy babies are born every day all over the world.

susiebluebell · 30/12/2021 11:36

Totally agree @GinnyBee

@SamBass Well I had horrendous nausea for weeks, and was only able to eat weird things. That's all stopped now and I'm making up for it! My boobs were absolutely killing me too, and now it's just my nipples. I've had a lot of uterus twinges this week - v different from cramping so I'm not worried.

Yes the reduced symptoms could signal the worst, but it also follows how things are meant to progress, so I'm literally not allowing myself to dwell too much on that possibility Smile

Hope everyone's having a good week x

OnceUponAThread · 31/12/2021 14:24

I'm in the depths of massive massive anxiety. All my symptoms have gone and I'm convinced something has gone wrong and I've lost the baby. Dreading my scan. Someone asked me when I was due earlier (it's too early to show really I think, so I'm just overweight I guess) and I burst into tears.

God, previous miscarriages just suck all the joy out of pregnancy. Sad

Loulou237 · 31/12/2021 14:58

Oh @OnceUponAThread I’m so so sorry. How many weeks are you? I’m sure it’s not too early to show and if I remember correctly you’re about 13 weeks which is when most people just stop feeling pregnant completely and have no symptoms. I felt the same and lost my mind a bit but all is fine. Can you afford to have a private scan whilst you’re waiting for your follow up one? Xxx

OnceUponAThread · 31/12/2021 17:01

@Loulou237 scan is next week so it seems silly to spend more money between now and then. Especially when it won't change anything.

I thought I was 13 weeks, but I'm measuring a week behind, so more like 12 I guess.

Maybe it's fine and just symptoms fluctuating, but I feel certain in my bones that something is wrong. I guess I'll know next week.

Loulou237 · 31/12/2021 17:47

@OnceUponAThread I was certain too, at 12 +2 I had spotting and zero symptoms and I was absolutely sure it was the end but it was just because I’d had bad news before.

Pregnancy is horrid for symptoms going away, you get told it could mean the worst but then if it happens at certain points it’s fine. Second trimester is known for people feeling absolutely fine.

You’re right about the scan but I thought if it was driving you mad it might stop the anxiety. Not long to wait though.

I understand why you don’t have any hope but I do on your behalf. It’s easier to be positive for other people. Just hang in there and keep going. Thinking of you xxx

susiebluebell · 31/12/2021 21:43

@OnceUponAThread I totally get it, I've been very depressed for parts of this pregnancy and not been able to enjoy it yet, apart from brief moments with my mum and friend. It's just not carefree is it!

The others are right though, this is the time when you and I will probably have reduced symptoms (I'm 11 + a few) so it really is normal until you hear otherwise!

I'm going to be a mess at my scan, but for now I'm just keeping it smooth sailing x Thinking of you
