Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

100% twins would be awesome but I reckon I'd be even more anxious (if that's possible) because of them being a higher risked pregnancy - although it would be nice to get it 'all done in one' so to speak! I always wanted more than one child because I'm part of a huge family xxx

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 11:44

We had an early scan and they thought it was twins at 7 weeks, my husband looked very pale haha! But it was a mistake on the sonographers part so we were a little relieved there was only one when checked again as we already have a toddler. We would have been delighted obviously but definitely terrified! I know a lady who had non identical twins at the same time I had my almost 2 year old and then she got pregnant again 9 months later and it was non identical twins again 😂 see what I mean about your ovaries going mad ha xx

Hi everyone ! Thought I'd join this thread also. I'm due July 7th with twins, fraternal di/di so I'm 10 +2 today I think . I had a MC in July at 8 weeks. Happy to be here!

@Loulou237 lol! Poor thing! He must have been so relieved 😂
And omg, two sets of twins 😳 gosh I don't think I could cope with that!

Pippbean · 11/12/2021 12:21

@Trinxsy
Congratulations! ❤️That's so awesome and inspiring to hear! How are you feeling in regards to morning sickness etc?

Trinxsy · 11/12/2021 12:29

@Pippbean it comes and goes in all honesty! I had a really bad few weeks from around 6-9 where I couldn't even get out of bed. I was fine after that but it's come back with a vengeance yesterday. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy but it will all be worth it Grin

It will I'm sure!
I hope it eases for you soon though. So exciting for you both 🥰

@SRLaycock

Wowsers! *@Loulou237* that's insane!!!!
I asked her what she did at the second scan and she said she just laughed 😂
SRLaycock · 12/12/2021 18:03

So my OH has just found a handheld Doppler that his cousin used during her pregnancies in our loft (whilst getting the Xmas decs down) - he wants to try it but I don't see the point? I'm 13+1...... surely he's not going to be able to hear anything? What's everyone's thoughts? Xxx

Loulou237 · 12/12/2021 18:16

@SRLaycock that’s a difficult one, if I couldn’t find the heartbeat I would get so anxious so I think for that reason I would try not to use it, but if it’s in the house I probably wouldn’t be able to resist! Sorry not much help. I do know that if you can’t find it yourself it’s not a cause for concern though xxx

Pippbean · 12/12/2021 18:49

I was wondering about getting one of those for future use, but I was worried too about the anxiety of not being able to find a heart beat!

SRLaycock · 12/12/2021 20:52

@Loulou237 @Pippbean That's exactly my thoughts, the curiosity in me wants to try but the logical side of my brain is telling me not to because if I can't find it I know I'll go crazy with anxiety 😩😩😩 xxx

GinnyBee · 13/12/2021 06:16

@SRLaycock I don't have one as I think I would've just made myself unnecessarily anxious, but I know people who do and have used them regularly in early pregnancy. As an average I think it's about 9 weeks when you might be able to see the heartbeat, and then hear it a bit later.

SRLaycock · 13/12/2021 08:36

This one is only an audible one...... I think I'll let OH try when I'm past the 16 week mark. I think it'll feed my anxiety too much otherwise xxx

hellointhere · 13/12/2021 11:08

Hello I'm new to the thread but would love to get some of my worries off my chest.

I had a MC at around 11 weeks in August, my first pregnancy. I had a scan and they said there was nothing in there which stunned me. Apologies for the wording here, but the following day after what I imagine were contractions I caught my pregnancy in my hand. This made me question the scan and has seen made me incredibly nervous about scans. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? They did the scan on my belly and an internal scan, and said there was nothing there.

I had a very long period in September then in October found out I was pregnant again. Due to my very long period it wasn't clear when I ovulated so it was an estimate. I had my 12 week scan at the beginning of December and I saw a little person in there with a heart beat and was so happy and surprised. But I also found out I was around 11 weeks. So as the adrenaline left me, worry seeped in that I'm not 12 weeks yet in fact this is when I lost the pregnancy last time.
I have another scan this week and I am just so nervous. Unfortunately my partner is away at the moment and he's been a huge support and came to the last one. I am really struggling without him.

Thank you for reading!

susiebluebell · 13/12/2021 20:40

Hi @hellointhere I'm sorry for the rough experience you've had. I'm dreading my 12wk scan too and imagining them saying there's no longer a heartbeat... (we saw the hb early at a 6wk scan) It has me losing sleep and I honestly don't have any advice other than hold onto the statistics! Each time we miscarry, it's statistically less and less likely that it will happen again... Like TINY percentages. Not minimising what ladies here have been through (eg I've had 2 MCs) but the numbers are on our side! It's more than likely to be a healthy pregnancy! Xx

hellointhere · 13/12/2021 22:59

Thank you @susiebluebell you're right, statistics are a comfort! Now I am past the 12 week mark I know that puts me into a better place statistically. It's nice to know others are just as nervous as I am for their scan.

Pippbean · 14/12/2021 17:37

Opinions about stopping drinking before conceiving please? I don't drink much but I like one or two glasses of wine a week (or after a marathon of Christmas wrapping session!) and I'm wondering if I need to stop.

Loulou237 · 14/12/2021 18:22

Hi @Pippbean I never stopped drinking, I feel like as long as you’re not over doing it or binge drinking you’ll be fine and it’s bad enough not drinking for 9 months may as well have some fun beforehand
Grin

GinnyBee · 14/12/2021 20:00

@Pippbean I never stopped. You never know how long it might take to conceive and I think it's completely unreasonable to expect that. We're into nice wines and regularly have a glass or two with a meal or a pint after work, maybe 4 nights a week on average, and very very rarely drink any more than that. And so happens that every time I've got pregnant has been after a special occasion where I drank more! My first pregnancy started after my husband's 30th, my second was after we'd been to a nice meal - 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing - after I finally got mum sent home after last Christmas when she got stuck with us for 6 weeks because of lockdown! And this current one was on my birthday!

I truly believe that stress has an adverse effect on fertility so relaxing is really important, and sometimes that requires a bit of a blow out! Especially when actively TTC it can become a bit of a chore and you might be stressing even if you don't notice it.

SRLaycock · 18/12/2021 09:48

How is everyone doing?

OnceUponAThread · 18/12/2021 10:51

Hi @SRLaycock. Doing ok, I think. 12 week scan next week so just ramping up anxiety around that now. 🤦🏼‍♀️

OnceUponAThread · 18/12/2021 10:51

How about you?
