Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@OnceUponAThread window to the womb do gender scans at 16 weeks, I’ve booked one for only £59! Maybe an option if you can’t wait xx

Interesting! At the moment, I'm keeping my scan budget for reassurances but if I get that far I'll be sorely tempted!!

itssquidstella · 07/12/2021 18:05

@OnceUponAThread 16 weeks is quite a nice time for reassurance anyway - the wait between 12 and 20 weeks is loooooong, so you might want to break the gap up!

GinnyBee · 08/12/2021 09:42

Yep, I also found the idea of waiting 2 months between the NHS scans too much to deal with, so have a private gender scan booked this Saturday! I'll be 17+4 and then it's only 3 weeks until my 20 week scan on NYE!

We've just had a couple of days away in Cornwall which was super needed. Weather was crap so just chilled inside doing jigsaws, reading, watching telly. Absolutely blissful!

itssquidstella · 08/12/2021 10:59

@GinnyBee Cornwall sounds lovely. We have our 20 week scans on the same day!

SLCxxx · 08/12/2021 22:18

Hi Ladies, hope you don’t mind me jumping over, was on another group with a couple of ladies on here.

Congratulations to you all with your 🌈 babies, I do love reading all the positive stories after the ttc after loss journey.

I had a MC in Jan at 10weeks, got my BFP in June and am now 29 weeks pregnant with wriggly little girl. Think it has been the longest 6 months for me and still doesn’t feel real, that’s probably why im only just posting now. As a Midwife I know too much which doesn’t help, lol.

Hope everyone’s getting ready for Christmas, next year we will all have another to buy for 💕

Loulou237 · 09/12/2021 05:25

Hi @SLCxxx nice to see you! 29 weeks, that’s amazing, congratulations. Does that mean you’re due in feb? I swear it doesn’t feel real until you have a baby in your arms, and then you have to keep pinching yourself! Xxx

SRLaycock · 09/12/2021 10:40

Thankyou! @Loulou237 @OnceUponAThread it's been nice to have a few days slightly less anxious and feel a little excited!

I absolutely love Cornwall @GinnyBee I bet it's been lovely just to get away 😊

Heartbeat at 16 weeks must have been wonderful @itssquidstella My midwife said they don't offer it at mine until 20 weeks though which is disappointing. And HUGE congratulations on a boy!!!! 💙

@SLCxxx Amazing 😊 not too long left for you now! I'm a nurse (Adult) too and find it so hard to think logically (like I would do at work) about anything from the tiniest pain to a change in sickness...... is it tough as a midwife? I imagine knowledge is not necessary reassuring all the time? Xxx

itssquidstella · 09/12/2021 17:10

Thanks @SRLaycock! Hope all going well with you so far :) we're having a private scan on Saturday at 16+6 and then will wait for our NHS 20 week scan - only just over three weeks to go now!

susiebluebell · 10/12/2021 10:28

@SLCxxx Hello from the other thread! I can't believe you're 29 weeks, that's sooo wonderful.

Pippbean · 10/12/2021 20:33

@OnceUponAThread
Thanks for inviting me to this thread.
Hi all
I had a missed miscarriage back in October and I was absolutely devastated (still am) by it. I really want to start trying for a baby again but I'm so scared that I will miscarry again.
Although everyone has been supportive and very understanding, I can't help but feel quite alone in this. Any support would be very much appreciated ❤️

SRLaycock · 10/12/2021 22:15

Welcome - here anytime to chinwag @Pippbean 😊❤️ xxx

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 06:39

Hi @Pippbean welcome although I’m sorry you find yourself here. Finding this thread has shown me you are not alone. Early pregnancy (speaking for myself) is absolutely shit after having a miscarriage as you are so anxious it will happen again but you have to take each day as it comes and just hope. Early scans really helped to reassure me and if you had a missed miscarriage it might be good to get a couple to show you that all is fine every few weeks. Also statistically it is far far more likely for you to have a healthy successful pregnancy after a miscarriage. I can’t remember the exact stats but that helps to reassure too. The ladies on here are all lovely and we are all in this together! Xxx

Pippbean · 11/12/2021 09:15

@SRLaycock & @Loulou237
Thank you ❤️
Regular early scans sounds like a great idea. I guess one of my worries is I'm 37 (soon to be 38) and I've been worried that I may have left it too late, especially if I'm to face complications. I do wish I hadn't left it so late, but I just wasn't ready before.

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 09:24

@Pippbean I’m 38 in February and pregnant with my second, I think it is true that egg quality starts to go down as you get older but if you’re fit and healthy I’m sure it won’t be a problem. All the mums I know are starting in their mid to late 30s! I think it’s a lot more common nowadays and you are still very likely to have a healthy perfect baby, even if they do class us as geriatric pregnancies Grin

SRLaycock · 11/12/2021 09:29

@Pippbean @Loulou237 I'm 34 and this is my 3rd pregnancy (2 x MMC's) - it does make me laugh how we are classed as geriatric! I would like to think I'm in my prime! Xxx

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 09:45

@SRLaycock exactly! And I was definitely not ready for a baby in my twenties Grin

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 09:46

Also @Pippbean you can be more fertile in your late thirties and more likely to hyper ovulate and have twins!

SRLaycock · 11/12/2021 10:07

@Loulou237 Amen to that! Some people are but I was wayyyyy too wild 😊 and I never knew you're more likely to have twins in your thirties??!!!

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 10:26

@SRLaycock yes it’s something about getting to your mid-thirties your body just goes into baby making overdrive 😂 not identical twins as they’re just a freak occurrence but apparently much more likely to ovulate more than once in a month xx

Loulou237 · 11/12/2021 10:27

@SRLaycock yes I was way too busy drinking in my twenties haha

SRLaycock · 11/12/2021 10:54

@Loulou237 well I never knew that! Think my OH would pass out if it had been twins! Xxx

GinnyBee · 11/12/2021 11:30

Another mid-30s here! I'm 35 now with my third pregnancy and after two losses. We started trying when I was a couple months off 34, and had my second miscarriage roughly a year later, and I do think that influenced the consultant's decision to not take me on as a patient as I wasn't 35 YET. No matter that I definitely didn't have time to get pregnant again before my birthday...

I also was nowhere near ready to even think about babies in my twenties! I would ideally have another 5-10 years still but had to get on it due to age. 😂

Oh wow @GinnyBee how far along are you?
Pippbean · 11/12/2021 11:39

This is great! I always felt like the odd one out as most of my friends had kids in their twenties and were always trying to persuade me to! So bizarre as it was the last thing I wanted then and now it's all I want in the world! As you say, it's baby making overdrive!
Twins 😱
Would be terrifying but also amazing! My husband is desperate for them and I kept telling him to shut up 🤣
