Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@Dprndje love your hair colour! I don’t know what your belly normally looks like but I think it’s perfectly normal to be really bloated from day one, it’s the hormones etc. The joys of pregnancy haha. Hope you’re not feeling too rough! Xx

Dprndje · 29/11/2021 14:27

@Oti21christmas eve 😍🙌🏽 That’s so exciting! Thank you I don’t really have a comparison to last time so I feel like everything this time is completely new 🥰 I’ve ordered some stretchy joggers to keep me going 🙏💜

@Loulou237 thank you so much 🥰🙏 it’s normally a lot brighter pink I haven’t risked redoing the colour. I’m surprisingly not having many symptoms yet my boobs are tender and I’m crazy thirsty all the time but hoping for a couple more on the next week or so so I feel reassured 🥰

I’m hoping I might be eligible for an early scan after the trio and last cycle being a mc 🤞🏽🧡xxx

Loulou237 · 29/11/2021 14:33

@Dprndje you can get vegetable dyes that would definitely take on your hair so you don’t need to bleach it again, I used to get one called directions which is completely safe and I mixed it in with my conditioner so it stayed a bit longer! Oh that’s good, enjoy it while it lasts, the nausea is no fun! My epu gave me a reassurance scan due to one previous miscarriage, I phoned them directly so definitely worth a try for you. They said to me they don’t scan before 7 weeks but not sure if they’re all the same xx

Dprndje · 29/11/2021 14:43

@Loulou237 ahh I love the directions 😍 completely forgot that was safe thanks lovely! though my roots are so dark I think I will be rocking them for the next 8 months 😆

That’s so good to know! I’ve heard the same definitely not before 6 weeks. I think the trio was something ridiculous like 5+5 but obviously that was different 🙂 it’s the waiting that’s killing me 😩😆

How are your symptoms? 💜xxx

Loulou237 · 29/11/2021 15:04

@Dprndje oh I know the root problems that’s why I gave up dying my hair, I thought I’ve only got so much time before I’m grey haha so may as well make the most of it 😂
Do you have triplets already? I’m sorry if that was the miscarriage you’ve had, I wasn’t sure how to word the question without sounding rude.

My symptoms have faded a lot thankfully as I’m just coming out of the first trimester, but then that makes you worry you’re not pregnant after all and it was all in your head Grin xxx

SRLaycock · 29/11/2021 15:14

Congratulations! @Loulou237 ❤️❤️

And what a Christmas present @Oti21 - absolutely lovely 😊😊😊

Dprndje · 29/11/2021 16:20

@Loulou237 don’t worry at all 🥰 I have 24 weeker triplets who are now almost 4 and had a mc my last cycle before this positive 💜

Aww I feel you everything is so nerve wracking! You don’t want to feel rubbish but you do! I have everything crossed for you lovely

Absolutely with the greys I think the past few years have made me look ten years older than I am 😂😂😂😂

Loulou237 · 29/11/2021 18:19

@Dprndje congratulations on the triplets! No wonder you’re going grey ha! Xxx

Dprndje · 29/11/2021 19:58

@OnceUponAThread @Loulou237 thanks ladies I am very lucky 🙏🥰

Loulou237 · 29/11/2021 20:10

@Dprndje so lucky, I bet they are so much fun xxx

susiebluebell · 01/12/2021 08:48

@Oti21 I am going to visit my childhood best friends just before Christmas so I will tell them then, although I'll not be 12 weeks but close enough! And then it can start being public knowledge in the new year Smile Congrats on your scan!

Dprndje · 01/12/2021 09:15

@susiebluebell that’s so exciting I always love telling friends and family 😍 have you told close family yet? Xx

OnceUponAThread · 01/12/2021 12:58

How is everyone getting on? I've lost track a bit. Hope all doing well. X

SRLaycock · 01/12/2021 13:24

I'm 11+1 today - have my 12 week scan on Dec 7th. Have started to get a little excited but trying to reign it in a bit until that scan.

How're you doing? @OnceUponAThread

OnceUponAThread · 01/12/2021 13:29

@SRLaycock - gosh that's so close. How exciting!!!

I'm good. Still very few symptoms, but have been calmer since my early EPU scan.

I've now got a private scan booked soon, mainly because I'm supposed to be going on a winter sun holiday (booked ages ago, no idea if it will go ahead) - and I just want some reassurance all is well before I fly.

Then my official 12 week just before Christmas.

Fingers crossed that all goes ok!

I'm now starting to get anxiety about the blood tests, and keep panicking I've somehow got Hepatitis without knowing it.

Honestly wish I could switch my brain off sometimes. 😬

SRLaycock · 01/12/2021 13:50

Exciting but terrifying!

I'm so glad you feel a little calmer since your private scan - we have had 2 private ones so far in between the ones I had at EPAU early on.... expensive but worth every penny.

What's making you worry about the blood tests? Just general anxiety? It's so easy to talk logically to someone else but when it's myself my anxiety makes me completely bonkers!

I'm sure your tests will all be negative though - when did you have your bloods done?

I always tell my patients no news is good news, we only rush to discuss results if they're concerning xxx

SRLaycock · 01/12/2021 13:51

@OnceUponAThread

OnceUponAThread · 01/12/2021 13:55

@SRLaycock - absolutely nothing making me anxious about bloods other than mad anxiety brain.

AFAIK I am totally fit and healthy, with no evidence to suggest there's anything wrong with me.

Nor have I ever suspected any illnesses along those lines. But then you do read about people discovering things etc.

I haven't even done the blood tests yet - that's how silly I'm being.

SRLaycock · 01/12/2021 14:25

@OnceUponAThread I don't think it's silly at all - I think it's an unfortunate 'side effect' of having experienced loss before..... and it so unfair for all of us.

I say to my OH all the time that I wish I could just enjoy being pregnant, I'm jealous of everyone who does because I feel robbed of that joy.

If you're fit and we'll normally I have every faith your bloods will be fine, I've nursed tons of patients with different types of Hepatitis (been doing the job far too long!) and I've never met one who's been asymptomatic yet xxx

OnceUponAThread · 01/12/2021 14:30

I'm sure you're right and all will be well. My husband thinks I've totally lost the plot. (He's being lovely about it).

susiebluebell · 01/12/2021 17:49
@susiebluebell that’s so exciting I always love telling friends and family 😍 have you told close family yet? Xx
I told my sister and mum straight away, because I knew I'd need them if this pregnancy went wrong Confused Other than that, just my boss and another senior person who needed to know as the miscarriage and new pregnancy were affecting my studies (fallen pg a month after a mc which has been a mixed bag to say the least!) xx

GinnyBee · 01/12/2021 20:36

@OnceUponAThread I know the anxiety! After one successful scan you start worrying about the next, and then the screening tests, then the 16-week appointment when they listen for the heartbeat, then the anomaly scan...

Speaking of, I had my 16-week mw appointment today! Was both looking forward to hearing the heartbeat and dreading that she can't find it. She did, and it was all fine. Then next Saturday we have a private scan booked when we should find out gender. I will probably feel good about today until about Thursday next week and then start stressing about the next scan 😩

I genuinely thought that if we get past the point of both my previous miscarriages and into the second trimester the constant fear would go away. I was wrong. It's faded a bit, but hasn't gone anywhere. I'm now in the unfortunate stage of pregnancy when I don't feel pregnant - the first trimester crap is over, bloatedness has gone down and I feel more like myself, and can't feel movements yet. Technically this should be a lovely time, but it just isn't.

SRLaycock · 01/12/2021 21:07

@GinnyBee Does your midwife offer Doppler at 16 week appointment?

I had my initial booking in appointment with mine last week and she was saying they won't do it until after 20 weeks at mine? Xxx

Loulou237 · 02/12/2021 08:02

Ah @GinnyBee I know the feeling it’s terrible isn’t it. I found with my first pregnancy that resulted in my daughter I kept thinking the anxiety would go but I think I’m just a worrier! And there’s always something I can find to worry about! Then you think you will stop worrying when they are born but then you start worrying about the baby Grin it’s all worth it though and I hope you can enjoy parts of it xxx
