Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@Onebabyandamadcat

EPAU said just monitor and call again if the bleeding becomes very heavy/lots of clots. I don't blame them, they can't do anything more than what they're doing. Bleeding eased off. Now it's just brown blood when I wipe (still quite a bit but it's not nearly as heavy as a period) I'm a bit crampy in my back though. Just need to sit tight and wait.
@Onebabyandamadcat sending you loads of strength. Fingers crossed it all settles.

Watch and wait is the worst. Look after yourself!

Onebabyandamadcat · 22/11/2021 18:14

Thanks @OnceUponAThread I'm still at work so that's keeping me busy at least. Just trying to take it one step at a time. I've started having horrible dreams about miscarriages so I think the sooner Friday comes the better so I can draw a line under this one way or another.

Thinking of you, @Onebabyandamadcat

I ended up having a bit of a breakdown at the EPU this afternoon and have been referred for counselling to help me deal with my anxiety about this pregnancy, which I think I really need. The doctor was lovely and also very quickly scanned me just to show me he still has a heartbeat, so I’m feeling more relaxed about my stupid resting heart rate now!

Counselling sounds good. I wonder if I can get a similar referral. I do feel like my mental health is hanging on by a thread.
itssquidstella · 22/11/2021 20:49

@OnceUponAThread try self-referring through IAPT - if you say you're pregnant in the 'reason for referral' section, you get bumped up the list x

Onebabyandamadcat · 23/11/2021 07:02

Good luck today @OnceUponAThread. I hope you get good news

Loulou237 · 23/11/2021 07:16

Good luck @OnceUponAThread let us know how it goes!!!

@Onebabyandamadcat how are you doing today? Xx

Loulou237 · 23/11/2021 07:37

@bez91 I’m so sorry I just realised my reply didn’t send almost two weeks ago Grin how are you doing? I hope your anxiety is a bit better and you’re able to be a bit excited now! Did you tell family etc?
I’m 10+4 now and so anxious as most of my symptoms have gone so I don’t really feel pregnant anymore. Not sure whether to try and get the epu to scan me if I say how anxious I am xx

The bleeding has eased off a fair bit again. Morning sickness still here and last night all I could think about was the cheese in the fridge so I hid in the kitchen and ate a ton - at least I then had a reason for feeling sick 😂. Just putting one foot in front of the other and trying to stay positive for Friday.

Hello - hope you don't mind me joining this thread?

I'm now pregnant again after a mmc at 9 weeks in the summer. We had a private scan at 7 weeks (as I was an emotional wreck with worry!). All was fine but it measured around 6 weeks. A few days later, I started with prink/brown discharge and mild cramps - which is exactly how my previous mc started.

We have just been to the EPU for a scan and were utterly shocked to see a heartbeat, however the initial joy was short lived as it has grown less than 1mm in 9 days (where it should have grown nearly 1mm/day). I'm pretty confident on my dates and I should now be 8wk3dy pregnant, but our little one is two weeks behind.

The EPU nurses were friendly but it felt like they wouldn't have a honest conversation with me about what this meant - simply reitterating the scan report and refering to it as a 'legal record'. I think they're just covering their backs, which I get, but it makes it so much worse.

Does anyone have any similar experiences? Tbh, I'm not holding out much hope for our little one but it would just really help to have an honest conversation and not feel so isolated.

Thanks so much

itssquidstella · 23/11/2021 12:22

Hi @Amalea, sorry to hear you're going through this uncertainty. I was in your position in February and I'm afraid it wasn't good news: I had an scan at just over six weeks and saw an embryo but no heartbeat, then a follow up 10 days later where there was a heartbeat but there had only been three days' worth of growth. The baby kept developing until 8+3 but it ended in MMC. I found out that she had had triploidy, so miscarriage was sadly inevitable.

I am now 14+2 with what seems to be a healthy pregnancy, so please have hope that a bad outcome this time (awful and sad as it is) won't necessarily affect your chances of having a baby in future.

Let us know how it goes at your next scan x

Amalea · 23/11/2021 12:53

Hi @itssquidstella, thanks so much for sharing - the uncertainty and waiting is unbearable but as odd as it sound it helps to be grounded with realistic outcomes of previous similar experiences. Although I’m sorry you went through that, I’m really happy to hear that you’re now 14+2.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find out that she had triploidy? As this is (likely) my second miscarriage in a row, I’m starting think about if there’s an underlying cause (or not) and the EPU so far haven’t even mentioned any possible routes for investigations in either miscarriage

itssquidstella · 23/11/2021 14:16

@Amalea that was my third miscarriage so the EPU sent the remains for testing and I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I think they will often send for testing sooner if you push, though.

itssquidstella · 23/11/2021 14:17

And I know what you mean about it helping to be grounded; for me the worst thing has always been the false hope.

I do really wish you a successful outcome, though.

Onebabyandamadcat · 23/11/2021 15:11

@Amalea I'm in kinda the same boat. I've had 23 days of spotting/bleeding so far. Scans have shown the pregnancy growing but a week behind. On Friday I was measuring 6+3 but should've been 7+4. No heartbeat but I've to go back this Friday to see. Again the EPU staff are lovely but won't be drawn into any conversations about how likely a miscarriage is or otherwise which doesn't really help. I'd rather know if I'm likely to lose this pregnancy rather than get my hopes up.

Loulou237 · 23/11/2021 16:59

@OnceUponAThread hope your scan went well, thinking of you xxx

Really well, thank you! Little bean in the right place, heartbeat and measuring right. Such a relief I cried. X

itssquidstella · 23/11/2021 17:09

@OnceUponAThread great news! I’m so pleased for you. How many weeks are you?

OnceUponAThread · 23/11/2021 17:11

Just over seven and a half weeks. So not totally out of the woods yet, but so thrilled to see a little heartbeat. Now just need to hold my nerve till 12 week scan.

ECarmel · 23/11/2021 17:29

I started TTC Jan 19, fell pregnant Feb, miscarried in March, had the go ahead to start TTC again in April, pregnant by May, miscarried in June, didn't have the go ahead to start TTC again until end of Aug (due to it being a suspected molar but thankfully wasn't), fell pregnant in September 19 and now I have a beautiful DS aged 5 months Smile at the time I thought it was never going to happen and I do understand that people have gone through a lot worse but the anxiety during the third pregnancy was tough Sad wishing you lots of well wishes Thanks x
