Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

They've said next week they'll be able to give me an answer one way or the other. The heart should definitely be beating by next week

MrsCtobe91 · 19/11/2021 13:47

@Tryingformylastmiracle oh wow, talk about being ambushed by symptoms 😄. Im going to try and enjoy my asymptotic pregnancy while i can, thank you for the reassurance 😊.

@Onebabyandamadcat sorry you're going through such a confusing/stressful time, i have everything crossed for you that there's a heartbeat next week 🤞🏻. Xx

OnceUponAThread · 19/11/2021 14:59

@Onebabyandamadcat

Back from my scan which was again inconclusive. The pregnancy has grown by 10 days. There's a gestational sac, a yolk sac and a 4mm fetal pole but there's no heartbeat. The sonographer said that while it's not a certain that there should be one at this stage, she generally can find one. I'm going back next Friday by which point I may be actually insane. Spotting is still here today after four days absence too. I think this wee bean is fighting hard but is going to lose.
I'm so sorry, the waiting is the absolute worst. I can't at all cope with the mixture of hope and despair. And 10 days is interminably long to have to just sit tight.

Crossing everything for you. Look after yourself. X

GinnyBee · 19/11/2021 16:19

Oh gosh @Onebabyandamadcat that's super stressful! The waiting really sucks. Try to keep busy and Friday will come quicker!

Oti21 · 19/11/2021 18:30

Sorry you didn’t get a definite answer @Onebabyandamadcat I’ve pretty much been in your exact situation and the waiting and multiple inconclusive scans (I had 4) is awful. They did tell me that there are lots of positive outcomes in this situation so I have everything crossed for you and really hope you get good news next Friday x

It's horrid isn't it @Oti21. I'm sorry, I can't remember, where are you in this journey that never bloody ends?
Oti21 · 19/11/2021 20:44

Being in limbo for so long is horrible, sorry you’re going through it @Onebabyandamadcat

I’m 11 weeks so further than last time now. Really wishing for good outcomes for everyone 🤞🏻 x

Hi, just checking in here again and hope things are going well for everyone. I’m 14 weeks today and have been feeling really positive after my scan on Thursday, but today my resting heart rate dropped by 2bpm and I’m freaking out that something is wrong. I know that sounds ridiculous and I’m hoping it's just needless paranoia, but I’m finding it really hard to calm myself down. Any advice?!

SRLaycock · 21/11/2021 21:33

@itssquidstella Your resting HR will naturally fluctuate...... my resting HR used to be anywhere between 80-90bpm and nowadays it's anywhere between 65-75bpm. No massive changes in my lifestyle etc, just one of those things..... try not to worry xxx

itssquidstella · 22/11/2021 06:56

@SRLaycock thanks - is that true when you're pregnant too?

SRLaycock · 22/11/2021 08:01

@itssquidstella
I'm no doctor/researcher but I am a nurse (I'm an acute and emergency medicine sister) and I would say that variations in heart rate of 2 bpm wouldn't alarm me. I know it's so easy to say though - I'm very good at 'logical brain' when talking to other people but then go completely stir crazy the minute my boobs don't hurt as much as normal!!!

What were you doing when you checked your heart rate? And how did you check it? With a machine?

Try not to worry too much and maybe give your midwife a call for some reassurance?

It's truly rotten that we are all robbed of the joy we should be feeling during early pregnancy because of the losses we've all experienced xxx

Onebabyandamadcat · 22/11/2021 09:14

Oh guys I've just been to the loo (TMI) and passed a lot of blood. Don't really know what to think but can't help but think this is it all starting.

SRLaycock · 22/11/2021 10:17

@Onebabyandamadcat was it fresh blood? Can you call EPAU? I'm so sorry that must be so frightening xxx

Onebabyandamadcat · 22/11/2021 11:18

It was. I don't think there's much point calling EPU - they'll just say monitor and come in if it's filling a pad an hour. It's slowed down again. Who knows? It's just torture.

OnceUponAThread · 22/11/2021 11:21

I'd definitely call the EPAGU. Given you're being monitored anyway and they're keeping an eye, you might be able to get an emergency scan?
GinnyBee · 22/11/2021 11:22

Oh no @Onebabyandamadcat ! Hoping all is well, the not knowing is the worst bit. And Friday is still so far away! Take care of yourself and try not to go mad with anxiety!

I think a little natural variation in heartbeat is pretty normal, so try not to panic.

(I know that's impossible, my whole life is a constant state of anxiety and panic over every little thing at the moment).

Also - the chances of a miscarriage drop substantially with each week that passes, so remember getting to 14 weeks is a really good sign!

I've finally got my early scan tomorrow. Have totally convinced myself it will be another MMC. No real reason to think that (other than lack of symptoms) but not reason not to think it either. Sad

itssquidstella · 22/11/2021 11:53

@OnceUponAThread thanks for the reassurance and massive luck for your scan tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

@SRLaycock it's my Fitbit so it does some kind of average over 24 hours, I think. I’m hopefully going to speak to a midwife today. Totally agree about the loss of joy; I so badly want to be excited but I keep feeling like to do so would be tempting fate.

@Onebabyandamadcat I hope you can be seen by the EPU - best of luck!

GinnyBee · 22/11/2021 12:05

@itssquidstella I would not worry about a 2bpm drop! Mine fluctuates by that much on a daily basis. My RHR went up about 10bpm in the first weeks of pregnancy, then dipped back down to normal levels around 8 weeks where they stayed for a couple of weeks, and have now gone back up 10bpm in the last couple of weeks. 2bpm is nothing!

Loulou237 · 22/11/2021 14:52

Hi ladies sorry I’m probably bothering you all with the same thing again but has anyone had a really big decrease in symptoms around the ten week mark? I think I had the same thing when pregnant with my daughter but as I’ve had a miscarriage since I’m just terrified. I’ve had two early scans and saw the heartbeat at 9 weeks although I know this can still not mean much. I know the placenta is supposed to take over with the hormone production at this point but I literally don’t feel pregnant the last few days it’s so weird! Xx

GinnyBee · 22/11/2021 14:54

@Loulou237 Yep my symptoms eased a lot at 8 weeks. Then got worse again around 12 weeks. Now 14+5 and have had three days of almost feeling normal!

Loulou237 · 22/11/2021 14:56

Thanks @GinnyBee it’s just the weirdest feeling when you’re so used to all these symptoms! I think it’s around the right time for it to happen I just wish I could have a daily scan Grin

Loulou237 · 22/11/2021 14:57

@Onebabyandamadcat how are you doing? Has the bleeding eased off? Xxx

OnceUponAThread · 22/11/2021 16:14

Decided to have a quick POAS ahead of scan tomorrow - just checking I haven't imagined the whole thing. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Haven't done one in weeks and weeks now. Obviously it came up positive (but of course if MMC it would also come up positive). What an expensive, silly waste of time that was.

This pregnancy and all the unknowing and fear is making me properly insane. Terrified about tomorrow. Absolutely petrified. Will ask DH to hide remaining sticks from me as I am clearly not to be trusted

Onebabyandamadcat · 22/11/2021 17:37

EPAU said just monitor and call again if the bleeding becomes very heavy/lots of clots. I don't blame them, they can't do anything more than what they're doing. Bleeding eased off. Now it's just brown blood when I wipe (still quite a bit but it's not nearly as heavy as a period) I'm a bit crampy in my back though. Just need to sit tight and wait.
