Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@GinnyBee

That's great *@OnceUponAThread* ! When is your scan? :)

I've had three scans at the EPU this time "only" after two losses. During my latest mc I begged for a referral to the recurrent miscarriage consultant, and he wouldn't take me but instructed the EPU to scan me every two weeks in early pregnancy as a "consolation prize". Seems to vary so much by trust how much they're willing to offer.

Waiting to hear what date it will be but apparently I'll find out tomorrow.

It does seem to vary enormously by area, and I was expecting them to tell me I wasn't allowed an EPU scan, so I'm really pleased and relieved my GP pushed it through.

It also means I can use the cash I'd stashed for a private scan a little bit later on (if I get that far).

I do think it's horrendous how much you have to fight for support after a MC. It's like you don't exist unless you have three.

@Loulou237 I do it's hard they wanna play and go places but I had to follow doctors orders and listen to my body I felt guilty but I couldn't I was just too ill during first trimester

Loubylauralou · 03/11/2021 13:44

I have a 4 year old and she spend a lot of half term last week watching TV as I was feeling really poorly. Luckily she's quite happy to watch TV! Don't feel guilty, Hey Duggee is awesome!

Loulou237 · 03/11/2021 14:36

@Loubylauralou @Tryingformylastmiracle thanks ladies Smile

Hello ladies! I am 6+1 today after a MMC back in May ( found out at 9weeks but the pregnancy stopped 5+6).

I have booked and early scan next week for reassurance.

I am extremely tired, falling asleep before 9pm, and my stomach feels very upset. However I'm terrified that it is not going right again 😞

Tryingformylastmiracle · 04/11/2021 10:32

@lostintranslatio try not to worry or symptom check as much I did that when I had a bad tummy at 9 weeks spent the whole weekend thinking the worst only for my gp to ask 2 questions about it like runny belly or cramps just told me to drink loads of water and keep an eye on things so I assumed those changes were normal

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to update that I had my early scan at EPU yesterday and saw baby and heartbeat. Feeling so relieved, midwife was so nice and gave us a scan picture and booked us in for another reassurance scan in 3 weeks time.

PeeAche · 04/11/2021 15:41

Awww, congrats @FeeB33 xxxx

Onebabyandamadcat · 04/11/2021 16:55

Fantastic news!

Loubylauralou · 04/11/2021 18:23

Great news @FeeB33 Smile
I've got my early scan in the morning, I'm feeling really anxious about it, hope it's good news.

Oh how lovely. Thrilled for you! X
Onebabyandamadcat · 05/11/2021 06:55

Good luck today @Loubylauralou! I hope everything goes ok.

I'm still hanging in here. It's been the longest week. Had some days of almost no discharge then a few spots (and it is just spots) of blood. Did a clear blue dating test yesterday which is bang on where it should be but then had bright red blood on wiping this morning. It seems to have stopped again and gone back to brown.

Thinking of everyone who is very anxious just now. If anyone is going through similar know you're not alone, sending everyone good vibes

Anxiousnewbie · 05/11/2021 10:11

Hi everyone, been lurking nervously for a while. I had a miscarriage in June at 6 weeks and I'm now pregnant again at 5+1 with baby #1. Like everyone I'm anxious and impatient waiting for a scan to see that precious heartbeat.

How's everyone holding up? Not many symptoms here, just bloating and mild achey boobs. Sending my love and hope for everyone's 🌈 babies!

Loubylauralou · 05/11/2021 11:52

My scan was 'inconclusive' I have to go back next week but it's not looking hopeful. Measuring at 6 weeks but by my dates I'm 8+4 so not sure our dates could be that wrong. Feels like the same thing is happening all over again. Hope everyone else is ok.

I'm so sorry to hear this! What a horrible limbo to be left in! Keeping everything crossed for you next week. You do hear stories of them catching up so there is a chance but I'll be thinking of you. Be kind to yourself x
Loubylauralou · 05/11/2021 13:57

@Onebabyandamadcat thank you. It is such a horrible limbo, we had the same wait last time and it's unbearable. It really does help being in this thread though, knowing you ladies understand what it's like and we are all routing for each other.

Oti21 · 05/11/2021 14:01

Sorry to hear this @Loubylauralou there with inconclusive scans and the wait is so hard. I hope the week goes by quickly for you and you get positive news at your next scan x

Oti21 · 05/11/2021 14:05

Congratulations @Anxiousnewbie are you planning on an early scan?

I’m 9 weeks now and so sick I can’t work, thinking of booking a scan for 10 weeks as I’ll be 10.5 at my booking appointment so imagine I may not get a further scan on the nhs till after 12 weeks.

GinnyBee · 05/11/2021 14:36

Oh I'm so sorry @Loubylauralou xxx that sucks, the waiting is the worst!

Anxiousnewbie · 05/11/2021 15:22

@Oti21 so sorry you're feeling so sick. Yeh I've booked an early private scan for 7+5 and I've got my 12wk scan on the 29th Dec. You should def book a scan at 10 5 weeks if yiu think it would help reassure you things are okay.

@Loubylauralou sorry to hear about the inconclusive scan. Fingers crossed the confirm everythings okay next week.

OnceUponAThread · 07/11/2021 09:58

How's everyone getting on? I'm still symptomless which is freaking me out. Just sitting right and crossing everything because what else can you do?

LeedleLee · 07/11/2021 10:19

My first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage in April 2018. I was supposed to be 12 weeks but a scan revealed baby had stopped developing at 6. I fell pregnant again in June of the same year and now have a healthy DD who will be 3 in March ❤️

I'm now five weeks pregnant and still terrified of another loss, even though I've had a successful pregnancy. I don't think it ever fully leaves you!

SRLaycock · 07/11/2021 11:03

@OnceUponAThread how far along are you now?

I'm 8 weeks today and I've had horrific sickness the past 48 hours but I'm also full of cold so think that's contributing.

I know when I've been worried about a lack of symptoms my sister (who's a mum of 5) kept reassuring me that her symptoms would come and go and were so variable throughout all her pregnancies that there was no sure fire way to say what was right or wrong.

Sending big hugs and positive thoughts xxx

OnceUponAThread · 07/11/2021 11:20

Too early really for me to be so worried. Just 5 weeks 3 days. So I know they're unlikely anyway.

But the only sign of my MMC was a lack of symptoms, and I'm approaching when the MMC was last time so just panicking it will be the same.

X

Loulou237 · 07/11/2021 11:25

Morning everyone. Yes @OnceUponAThread how far along are you? My symptoms have been varying loads and when I feel terrible I feel like it’s never ending but then as soon as I get a break from it I worry. I know it’s probably silly but it’s really difficult not to worry! We had our reassurance scan just over a week ago and saw one, possibly two babies with flickering heartbeats!! The sonographer said they were so close together though it was difficult for her to tell for certain what was going on so we have another scan on Friday to see if it’s identical twins! What a curveball hey. And I still am worrying even though we’ve seen heartbeats. I wish I could have a scan every day!! Xx
