Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@Onebabyandamadcat how are you getting on? Xx

GinnyBee · 07/11/2021 11:30

@OnceUponAThread My symptoms this time didn't start until 6+1! Until then I felt better than I did before I got pregnant. Apart from elevated resting heart rate, which I wouldn't know about if I didn't have a fitbit, I wouldn't have known I was pregnant at all! First I got fatigue, and nausea joined at 6+4.

With my previous pregnancies I had symptoms throughout. My first pregnancy had ended a good 3 weeks before I started bleeding, and the day before it started I felt the worst I had done in all the 10 weeks! Then with my second I had a couple days break from feeling crap, but it came back and then a few days later at an early scan we found I'd had a mmc. Symptoms mean nothing!

Wow twins! What lovely news!

I'm hanging in there. Still having some bleeding/brown discharge but only when I wipe. I'm convinced I've lost it as this is what happened with my MMC. Waiting for my scan on Tuesday. I was supposed to do a pregnancy test tomorrow to confirm its still positive before the scan but I cheated and did it today as I can't do that tomorrow morning then go in and teach a class of kids if it's negative. Clear blue dating test was positive and had moved up from last weekend to 3+ (I think I'm 5+5) so reckon this is the correct date but don't really trust it.

I've got a sticking cold and coughing so much I've been leaking pee (thank you DD for that gift at your birth) so praying that I've maybe just had some cervical irritation and the coughing is straining it though that might be grasping at straws. Also started throwing up yesterday but again don't trust it to be morning sickness - it could just be the cold. Just need to wait and see but ultimately since it's the same as last time I think it'd be a miracle if they're ok

I'm crossing fingers for you. Is the scan Tuesday?

Sounds like there a a lot, could be spotting plus morning sickness. Or just cold etc manifesting. Hopefully all positive. Will be thinking of you. X

Loulou237 · 07/11/2021 15:58

@Onebabyandamadcat I’ve got everything crossed for you and all those symptoms sound so promising and with the test etc! I’m convinced that past miscarriages just ruin your next pregnancy so you can’t relax and everything will be great on Tuesday. Please please let us know how it goes! Xx

Onebabyandamadcat · 07/11/2021 16:48

Thank you everyone. I'm keeping everything crossed and will update you all on Tuesday - hopefully to say that everything is well

SRLaycock · 07/11/2021 19:54

@Loulou237 Twins! How amazing! ❤️❤️❤️Congratulations!!!!

@OnceUponAThread I would say my sore boobs/nausea didn't really kick in until 6 weeks and like @Loulou237 says I reckon past MC's just ruin future pregnancies because we are tortured with anxiety - I have everything crossed for you.

@Onebabyandamadcat I had the exact same sort of discharge intermittently for about 8 days - it's now settled right down and my nausea has gotten significantly worse! I think like @GinnyBee says symptoms don't really mean anything. Although so much easier said than done - I over analyse everything because of past MC's xxx

Completely agree. If I'd not had a MC I would just be assuming everything was fine. But instead I'm assuming the worst at every time.

I do have sore boobs. But I'm not sure if that's a pregnancy symptom, or if they just hurt because I keep prodding them to see if they're sore like a lunatic. 😂😂😂

SRLaycock · 07/11/2021 22:32

@OnceUponAThread Couldn't help but giggle at that! I literally squeeze mine everyday to check - I swear my OH must think I'm nuts!

PeeAche · 08/11/2021 09:02

I'm also a daily boob squeezer. Mine are usually barely sore at 7am but as the day progresses they get worse and worse. Naturally, this means I must squeeze them several times a day to be sure that everything is on plan.

OnceUponAThread · 08/11/2021 09:27

Glad to know I'm not the only one doing mad hourly squeezing. 😂

Onebabyandamadcat · 08/11/2021 10:18

😂😂 also doing the squeezing. Annoyingly mine aren't that sore but then they weren't in my last pregnancy. I told DH that I reckoned they were sore last night and he replied that of course they're sore I've been "fondling them all bloody day". Fair point DH

OnceUponAThread · 08/11/2021 11:12

Guys, I just did another weeks indicator test and it's not progressed to 3+ weeks in the window. So now I'm convinced I've had another MMC.

I'm 5+4 so it really should be showing at 3+ now I think. Is there anything I can do? Doctor has referred me for an early scan but I've not heard anything back yet. I was anxious before but now I'm so upset.

PeeAche · 08/11/2021 11:30

@OnceUponAThread there is something you can do: ditch those stupid bloody digitals. They are tiny little anxiety makers.

I can't stress this enough: ClearBlue know that their market for these is 90% anxious early pregnancy women. The dating is vague, the box is adorned with disclaimers, they sell them in multipacks, and the first "hit" is free because they throw one in with their 6 Days Early test kit.

Tell me this: why haven't they designed them to display the weeks in line with how all medical professionals (globally) actually date pregnancy? Why do they do this silly 1-2 past conception nonsense?

Because they're bullshit, that's why! It's to cover their own backs!

They are wicked and they don't tell you anything useful.

In my second pregnancy, I spent so much on these things that I could have just paid for an early scan instead. And they predicted nothing. My own tests were going up and up until the very morning of my miscarriage.

If you miscarry, you'll falsely think the test gave you warning of that. It's confirmation bias.

Please, Once, step away from these horrible bits of plastic tat. I firmly believe they should be banned. I think they break advertising standards and contribute to poor mental health in early pregnancy.

Your scan is the only thing that can truly inform you right now. I'm sorry, this is tough love.

Onebabyandamadcat · 08/11/2021 11:48

Spoke too soon. After feeling quite positive yesterday and today I've just gone to the toilet to find more bright red blood. Still just on wiping but no way can I have bled on and off for 8 days and everything be ok. Desperately just want this scan to come tomorrow so we can draw a line under it.

I second everything said above about the digital tests (and yet I'm aware I'm also using them to check). Yesterday I looked up their parameters for each week prediction - they're insanely wide. They can't honestly tell us anything useful.

GinnyBee · 08/11/2021 13:25

@Onebabyandamadcat Best of luck for your scan tomorrow! Hoping for the best xxx

@OnceUponAThread Do not pay attention to the weeks indicator tests! The threshold for 3+ is really high on them, many many women have perfectly healthy pregnancies reaching the required hCG levels for a 3+ later on!

I've just had my 12-week scan and little one was wiggling away and stretching in there. This is quite a milestone, both my previous pregnancies ended before I got as far as the NT-scan.

Oh wow! HUGE congratulations. How exciting. So pleased for you. Xx

Onebabyandamadcat · 08/11/2021 13:32

Congratulations @GinnyBee!

Loulou237 · 08/11/2021 15:45

Yay! Congratulations @GinnyBee Smile
I totally see how the blood can make you feel that @Onebabyandamadcat but the truth is there are so many reasons for a bleed that you can’t tell what’s going on without a scan. Also if it’s a small amount too. It’s funny how I can be so annoyingly positive with everyone else’s pregnancies but a bundle of nerves with mine! But please keep some hope and fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Is the scan in the morning? Xx

PeeAche · 08/11/2021 16:02

I'm like that too, @Loulou237

Congrats @GinnyBee !!!! - and good luck @Onebabyandamadcat Thanks

It's never over until it's over and a bleed doesn't mean it's the end. Over on another thread I'm on, there have been at least 5 women in the last month that have bled and everything has been fine.xxx

Onebabyandamadcat · 08/11/2021 16:56

Thank you! I know I just need to wait and see. It's honestly the weirdest thing where I had nothing this morning, the bright red blood but after 40 mins it had totally stopped and still didn't really get heavy at all. Now back to brown. Who knows what's happening. Trying to stay positive but also realistic that it certainly isn't good news that this is happening. Scan is at 11.30 so at least by this time tomorrow I'll know one way or the other.

Anxiousnewbie · 08/11/2021 17:32

@onebabyandamadcat hope the scan goes well tomorrow and it shows that everything is okay!

I had some brown spotting/ discharge yesterday on exactly 5+3 when the same thing happened with my last pregnancy that sadly ended in MC. No bleeding today so I'm hoping there won't be any more. I'm a serial boob poker too, and they don't seem to be as sore today. Maybe I haven't been poking them enough today!

Hope everyone else is doing okay, and managing the anxiety and waiting better than I am!

SRLaycock · 08/11/2021 17:56

Everything crossed for you tomorrow @Onebabyandamadcat 🤞🏼

Definitely good news it's stopped. Fingers crossed it stays stopped. It's all so stressful isn't it,

Also welcome to the boob prodder club. Am starting to wonder what percentage of boob aching is caused by boob prodding! It's often cited as the most common symptom - but maybe that's just millions of women sat around poking themselves in the boobs every hour. 😂

Anxiousnewbie · 08/11/2021 18:05

Great to be part of the boob prodding club, yep I'm pretty sure the aching sensations I feel is just from the squishing and squashing I do to them 😂
