Hey I'm only 10dpo but just got a faint positive 2 days ago and has been getting darker so hoping this is real. I calculated and I'm due June 1/2nd.

Anyone else due the same time as me? Want to hang out and keep me company I know it's early days.

Flu jab - what's everyone thinking? I've never got it before but I know it's recommended to pregnant women. Mum and sis think I should avoid. Just wondering what the general feel was with you guys

rathernotshare · 15/10/2021 12:39

@makingamac I think I'll have it because I'm a bit antsy about not being covid jabbed

Tofu35 · 15/10/2021 12:49

@makingamac I'll be getting it, pregnant women are a vulnerable group. Reading the NHS inform website, it looks like we're likely to have flu-related complications if we don't get it. As the vaccine doesn't contain any 'live' viruses (so isn't like they're injecting us with flu to build our immunity), I think it's pretty low risk.

I'm actually double jabbed already so glad I don't have to deal with that dilemma!

Thank you so much, this is really helpful!

PeeAche · 15/10/2021 12:57

Yes, I will be having mine @makingamac

I think getting flu while pregnant is really dangerous. Also, the vaccine protection can be passed onto LO.

HWka · 15/10/2021 13:01

@Skinnymuffins best of luck for your scan! I’m about 5 weeks at the moment, think I’ll book a private scan for 8 weeks xxx

Chloesen90 · 15/10/2021 13:46

@Seabreeze2 I'm 5+1 and cramping. It's still mild period pains and I don't know why I'm letting it worry me so much!

RT65 · 15/10/2021 13:58

For those worrying about being suspected for not drinking, we told 2 friends last night because I was convinced they'd work it out... I'm a big drinker and we see them at least once a week in the pub. Turns out, they hadn't twigged AT ALL. We were even on holiday together and I stopped drinking part way through as I suspected I was pregnant after a late period, they didn't question it!!! So honestly, don't worry too much, people aren't as observant as we give them credit for! Plus, you can always tell people you're on a health kick?

I did still sneak a tonic water in a gin glass around my family though, just to throw them off the scent!!

dramastic · 15/10/2021 14:18

Anyone else got less that ideal maternity leave situations? A really good job opportunity came up for me last month, so I went ahead and applied, and got it, yay! A couple weeks later I found out I was pregnant after we had been trying for a while, double yay! Coming up to 7 weeks now and start the new job in December and I just can't make sense of what maternity leave will look like for me.

My new boss is lovely and I know her really well already, and I've got a call this aft to tell her just so she's in the loop. But I'm so nervous!

Turniptracker · 15/10/2021 14:36

This may be a stupid question but how do you get a free NHS flu jab? Do we need to prove we are pregnant? I'm only 5 weeks but kind of wanted the jab before we go on holiday early November. Can I just show up at boots and announce I'm pregnant?!

HanBro · 15/10/2021 14:56

@makingamac yes getting the flu jab is a great choice. I work for the NHS so luckily had the flu jab and covid booster a few weeks ago. We also have the pertussis jab later in pregnancy to look forward to lol

Didn't manage to have lunch until 2pm today and I was sooo shaky and felt awful until I ate. Must not make that mistake again!

Is anyone panicking about the nausea kicking in? I have signed up so many overtime shifts (on top of full time shift work) in the next 3 months (buying a new build and need more savings for stamp duty etc by April). And I'm also studying right now, due to finish in May. So worried I'll be completely wiped out by nausea and fatigue!!

If you just call your GP surgery they should be able to book you in. I just spoke to reception, told them I was pregnant and that I would like to book. All sorted in a few minutes Grin

You're so right! Probs just overthinking as usual!
makingamac · 15/10/2021 15:16

@dramastic - sorry about your mat leave situation! I'm sure it will be pulling of a plaster! Try not to worry about it for now, does have to happen until your 12 weeks! X

makingamac · 15/10/2021 15:19

@HanBro I've been starving constantly! No chance I'd have been able to wait til 2. I had lunch at 12.30 and I'm already ravenous. Definitely out of the ordinary.

Not everyone gets sickness so fingers crossed the universe is good for you. I think the fatigue is likely to be there but hopefully you can just about manage... remember to rest!!

The wait until 12 is so long! It's just nice to have a bit of reassurance... Even if it's just to help with sleep 🤦‍♀️

RT65 · 15/10/2021 16:25

@makingamac I was doing the exact same thing! I was absolutely convinced they'd already guessed as there were some other keys signs they missed as well that were SO obvious to me. (But I will still continue to drop in the occasional tonic in a gin glass around people just in case!!)

blueberryy · 15/10/2021 16:30

Anyone else feel like sometimes they're not pregnant? Today I'm feeling not at all bloated. Feels weird.

Rachae · 15/10/2021 16:32

@blueberryy how far along are you? I feel like this every day! I'm 5.5 weeks. I've had cramps and a few other minor symptoms but no sore boobs or sickness

blueberryy · 15/10/2021 16:40

@Rachae would be 5 weeks on Sunday. It's just so bizarre. Some day I feel bloated and crampy. Then today no bloat at all, and feeling fine. Man this is just so hard, these early weeks.

Rachae · 15/10/2021 16:48

@blueberryy I'm exactly the same! Yesterday I had lots of back pain..
Today its disappeared! I guess (or hope) it just comes and goes!

blueberryy · 15/10/2021 16:55

Thank you @Rachae for sharing 💕 I really don't care for these early week haha.

Rachae · 15/10/2021 17:04

@blueberryy same.. I just want horrendous morning sickness and ill be happy 🤣🤣
