Hi everyone made a new thread for all the ladies due end of March beginning of April 2022. We are coming to the end of the first trimester, some of you have already crossed that important milestone! Some are starting to get bumps and sickness could be leaving, has anyone got that 'glow' yet... fat chance

Thanks ladies - was lovely to hear it after midwife not offering at last appointment. My next midwife appointment is 31 weeks where I guess she will take my bloods as they didn’t go it at the hospital yesterday (which I knew they wouldn’t!) He was measuring average which is fab as both my other boys were just below the 10th centile 😊

I had another sleepless night, maybe 2 hours again! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m definitely feeling the extra weight and bump earlier this time round. That is maybe because I’m much bigger than my other 2. I’ve already put on just under 1.5 stone (only put that on term with my other 2!) and I think I may have got my first ever stretch mark 😬 Madness how pregnancies can vary so much!

I’ve started buying loads too which is equally scary and exciting 😊

@Dyra Work situation has pros and cons. Would your maternity start now if they don’t manage to find you another role or will you be home/admin based? I’m already home working so planning on taking 3 weeks annual leave from 37 weeks and maternity officially kicks in on my due date.

Dyra · 30/12/2021 13:08

@Nats7504 No. If they can't find me anything to do, officially I'd be recorded as self isolating. I can't see them finding anything though. Not sure if that means mat leave would kick in automatically at 36 weeks. Hope not.

Sounds exactly like my plans for NYE @Scoaf! I'm working in the day, so I certainly don't want to cook or stay up any longer than I have to

Dyra · 01/01/2022 00:27

Happy New Year everyone!

Holy crap we're having babies this year....

Scoaf · 01/01/2022 23:57

Happy New year everyone...

@Dyra its all feeling a bit real now 😱

Derbee · 02/01/2022 20:45

Happy New Year everyone! What an exciting year for all of us… We’ve finally started buying clothes. Got a private scan on the 6th, for my parents to come and see the baby. It’s a free rescan, as the baby was hiding when we originally tried to do it!

Countingchicks · 02/01/2022 22:02

I worry about the clothing sizes, don't want to end up with clothes too small for baby to wear or only get worn once!

Derbee · 03/01/2022 02:31

We’ve just done 0-3 months, and assumed newborn and tiny baby sizes will be too small, as babies tend to be relatively big in our family.

Catconfusion · 03/01/2022 06:42

Happy New Year ladies!

Just a note on clothing sizes. My son was showing 99 centile on growth scans so we mainly got 0-3 month size clothes. He was 9 pounds 5 and born at 39 weeks. The 0-3 clothes were still a bit big. He then lost 12% of his body weight as my milk took its time. Most will lose a bit after birth. My husband had to go out and buy some newborn and 0-1 clothes as we didn’t have much that fitted him. It’s totally worth having some newborn and definitely 0-1 sized clothing. We too didn’t want to waste money but we did need smaller sizes for the first few weeks. Look at the labels of the clothes too. Some 0-3 clothes are up to 14 pounds so they will drown even a bigger baby. Some newborn clothes are up to 10 pounds so would be good for a bigger one. The only sizes that might be a of a waste of time if you know baby is big are first size and newborn clothes that fit up to 7 pounds. Xx

Dyra · 03/01/2022 10:14

Tbh since you know 0-3 is going to get worn, go for it. Once you get to 36 weeks, you'll have a much better idea of how big your baby is going to be, so you can start stocking up on 0-1/newborn.

bubblepond · 04/01/2022 01:00

Happy new year everyone!

Sorry I've been very absent for a while!

Have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes despite no risk factors. Otherwise everything is going well. And can't believe babies will be here in less than 3 months!!

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/01/2022 16:44

Happy New Year!

Oh I've bought tons of clothes, including tiny baby and 0-1, just couldn't resist! 🤎

Had my 28th week growth scan yesterday. My little miracle girl is now 1,169 grams (2lb 9oz) and the scan was soo cute, she kept opening and closing her mouth and moving her hands to and fro her mouth all the time. I happened to finally get a sonographer who was actually super nice too, he seemed just as excited watching the baby as I was. He said she must be hungry! 😆

Happy days! ☀️

Scoaf · 05/01/2022 17:04

@MiracleBaby2022
Happy New year.
Fab news on your scan 😍
I also had my 28 week growth scan today due to possibly having a small baby and ironically the baby is showing at just below 90th Centile.
Anybody else get large measurements that turned out to be wrong? Freaking out that im having a huge baby now 🤦‍♀️

Nats7504 · 05/01/2022 17:36

Evening ladies - back to reality of work, is it too early to start the maternity leave count down?! 🙈

@bubblepond Sorry to hear you have GD, is it diet or insulin controlled? I’ve not had it but my sister did with one of her pregnancies.

@MiracleBaby2022 I had my 28 week growth scan last week and my little one was 2lb 10oz which I thought sounded big but maybe it’s average.

@Scoaf I’m having growth scans for the same reason and he’s already showing as above the 60th centile on most of his measurement! 😬 Don’t think I’m brewing a small one this time 🤣

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/01/2022 18:58

@Scoaf how much does your baby actually weigh at 90th centile? Mine is 1,169grams and that shows up as 40th? Or am I misunderstanding something here

Scoaf · 05/01/2022 19:29

@MiracleBaby2022
Baby weighs 1288g. I only got the 90th centile from the graph and noted otherwise wouldnt have had a clue x

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/01/2022 20:10

@Scoaf ah ok - that's only just over 100grams more than mine but I guess at that stage it's a fairly big difference. I'm praying for a smallish girl - 😬

Scoaf · 05/01/2022 20:19

@MiracleBaby2022. Fingers crossed for you.
Im a bit shocked tbh. Im only 5ft and my hubby is 5ft 7 so both small. Both average weight and were both small babies born. I also have an autoimmune disease that puts me at higher risk of low birth weight babies hence the grow scans. We dont know what we are having.

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/01/2022 20:47

@Scoaf as far as I understand it, the baby's size is unrelated to parents size. But I've also heard estimated weights are often notoriously incorrect... not sure where I saw that, probably somewhere here on Mumsnet 🤔. I'd love to think they've got a fairly good idea though, otherwise what's the point of growth charts and all the scans we're having.

Dyra · 05/01/2022 21:39

How lovely to hear everyone's baby is growing well. Strange to think we're 2/3 of the way there, but the babies are only 1/3 of the size they should end up being.

@MiracleBaby2022 I'd heard that birth weight is supposedly related to the father's birth weight. Probably just an old wives tale. I believe growth scans are likelier to be more inaccurate the further on you are. Then again, my 36 week scan was pretty spot on with DD. Can't wait to see this one again. I tell myself it's only next month, but then it's literally the last day of February, so it's still the best part of 8 weeks to go. Sad

@Nats7504 Never too early!

@bubblepond Aww. Rubbish to have GD diagnosis. Hopefully it'll be just fine diet controlled.

MiracleBaby2022 · 05/01/2022 21:59

@Dyra ah yes maybe! I've heard it's to do with your mum and her mum etc and how the birth weight of their children were. I'm quite petite, as was (is) my mum but she had quite big babies - I remember she said my older brother was well over 4kg 😬 (whatever that is in pounds) - but then boys are a bit bigger! 8 weeks seems so far away doesn't it, but before you know it, it's here! X

Catconfusion · 06/01/2022 11:35

Oh no @bubblepond I hope the GD is easily controlled.

Growth scans can vary in accuracy. In my case they gave a good idea of my son’s size. He was showing as 99th centile. He was born at 39 weeks by elective weighing 9 pounds 5. I was glad of the section as his head was off the chart big. If it wasn’t for the freakishly big head I could have had a natural birth. We didn’t know it was quite that big until after birth so it probably would have been a section in our case anyway. I did a lot of research and bigger babies are usually born without complications naturally. I’m over 40 and have arthritis so that’s mainly why we opted for the section. Just felt too many risks. It all went really well and we’re opting for a section this time too. We have our first growth scan on Tuesday so will be interested to see how big this monkey is. We know she has long legs and so far her head is looking normal. I guess time will tell. Xx

Dyra · 06/01/2022 16:46

@Catconfusion Holy moly.... 9lb 5 at 39 weeks?! You absolute champion. I'd have been impressed if you had walked to theatre! FX this one doesn't try to one up her big brother.

MiracleBaby2022 · 06/01/2022 19:42

Out of interest, what is everyone doing with their scan pictures? Do you frame it and hang it up or put it in a baby album? I can't decide what to do in this digital age...

Countingchicks · 06/01/2022 19:55

@MiracleBaby2022 ours are just in the pouch of notes I have which just contains all the appointment letters really as I don't have paper notes, just that useless badger notes app. We did put one from the twelve week scan into a countdown picture frame

Catconfusion · 06/01/2022 19:59

@dyra I was on crutches for the last 6 weeks. Mainly because I have arthritis in my hips. They did ask if I wanted to walk to theatre but I let them wheel me down. He lost 12% of his weight in the few days after birth as my milk took a while to come in so was still little. Even wore some newborn bits for the first week. It didn’t take long for him to get chunky. I loved having a bigger baby. Definitely felt like he was less breakable. He’s clearly going to be tall. At 20 months he’s been in 2-3 clothes for a while.

I have a feeling little miss will be big but not quite as big as her brother. Xx
