@Justanothercyster you'll be there now and getting yourself settled in! Hope all goes well for you and in no time you will have baby 💕

@bez91 in politer circles arse over tit is for those who were pissed/arsing about/otherwise brought it upon themselves and having a fall is reserved for those who weren't at fault/broke something. I don't live in those polite circles so it's always arse over tit. I was a student nurse many moons ago and said to an elderly lady who had a broken hip (she was very good craic) "so you went arse over tit then?" She howled laughing! Hated all the namby pamby "oh now Mavis here has come to us because she's had a wee fall, isn't that right Mavis" ehm she's 68 not 6, read people and realise the ones that want and have a laugh! Rant over 🙈 hope you aren't too sore after having your fall 😉

@Florence13 absolutely do and the more random the better! The giant fish was a gift from one of the boys that works for OH, there is a work connection. I had his thank you card printed up with that photo, he thought it was hilarious how small she was next to it.
Well used to it now, can either let it eat away at me or get on with my life. It was worse when I lived near her, I'm now hours away and it helps a lot. The positive spin is that it makes me a better mum to my girls because I'll never do to them what she does 😊

Kate105 · 05/11/2021 10:25

Good luck @Justanothercyster you're so close now!

Sorry I've been AWOL but life with a newborn has been a bit of a shock! We've had some stinking nights with James refusing to sleep and we're just shattered. I feel like I should be able to cope better than this! Currently have my mother or MIL round every day so I can get a nap which isn't really sustainable

DKDK123 · 05/11/2021 10:52

@kate105 if you've got the help there then 100% take it! It's definitely not a reflection on not coping, remember what we've all spoke about before that we only really get to see the highlights of other people's lives not the bad sides so don't compare yourself. Sleep deprivation is used as an actual method of torture for a reason because it really is brutal. Life with a newborn that doesn't sleep much can be so unbelievably tough so don't feel like you're failing, accept all the help you can get to catch a nap, your body will start to adjust to the lack of sleep and your baby will start to sleep a bit more till you both reach a happy medium. You've got this 😊

Gem176 · 05/11/2021 12:40

Ah @Kate105 the brutal nights of a wide awake little person who thinks that the hours of midnight - 5am are party time, who are so tired and they are just about asleep and then DING wide awake again but now they are grumpy and fussy because they are tired but no matter what you do you can't get them to actually sleep..... roughest time! They say it takes a village and it really really does so accept the help and remember that no one is actually coping it's just that some are better at hiding it than others. It's ok to prioritise baby and you while letting everything else slide for a while. It does get easier.

Minster2012 · 05/11/2021 13:45

@Gem176 I bet Mavis loved it!! Hence why I will be forever going arse over tit!! 😂😂

@Kate105 you do whatever is necessary to get through hun, and it will all work out in the end. Each baby is different & some are really really hard work. I was talking to someone the other day & she said she called the crisis line a number of times when her child was a baby as she just didn't sleep but not only that she just wailed & cried from 5pm onwards. She worried she'd ruined her life by actually having a child as she thought her child didn't love her. (It was perfectly clear she did, toddler now) It's not a bed of roses 🌹 & it can be much harder than ANYONE imagined. Some of us then have a very testing toddlerhood, some have it good all the way through. You keep hold of that support as long as you need I'm sure they love helping you 🥰

Florence13 · 05/11/2021 14:35

@Justanothercyster hope all goes well thinking of you.

@Gem176 haha I love it will definitely give it a go! Yes hoping it makes me a better mum as well as I don’t want my child to ever feel the way my mum has made me feel.

@Kate105 aww yes definitely take the help while you can get it, but I hope it gets easier soon!

Gem176 · 05/11/2021 14:38

@Minster2012 I shall also forever be going arse over tit 🙈 first date with OH and I was in heels (oh those were the days 😂) and literally went arse over tit within the first 5 minutes..... he now tells everyone I fell for him on our first date 🙄 it broke the ice and nothing else thankfully!!

2020mission · 05/11/2021 15:33

Hope all is going well @Justanothercyster.

I've had a bit of a chaotic day. I was measuring small at my 32 community midwife appointment yesterday so they sent me to the maternity hospital today for a scan. Had to travel from the west end of Glasgow into the city centre around the climate change protest marches that are happening which was fun and then at the scan the woman scanning me said baby is measuring a bit big and I have excess amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios) she said she'd get a doctor to speak to me and sent me to wait in a counselling room for half an hour. I was so worried the whole time. When the doctor came they just mentioned they'll do some diabetes testing but didn't say much about the risk of excess fluid. Confusing going from measuring small to measuring bigger on a day! Also the midwife yesterday said the little guys limbs were at the front but the scan showed him head down with his spine at the front so unless he changed overnight the midwife yesterday was off 😅

Anyone heard of polyhydramnios?

Justanothercyster · 05/11/2021 17:03

Thanks ladies. Pessary has been in since around lunchtime so just a waiting game :)

@2020mission oh gosh, no wonder you're bloody confused! Have they told you to go back for another growth scan? a friend a met at an NCT group had that. She was hugeeeeeee, diagnosed with what I think is the same as you mentioned. All growth scans showed a small baby and her DD was born at an average 7lbs so there's no science it seems to the midwifes tape measure!

Oooh come on mini @Justanothercyster 🥳 👶

@Lexber replying on here re car. I'd highly recommend the Škoda Kodiaq.

Convinced I've felt little flutters today (13 weeks) so very early but I think it can be for #2. Then I'm thinking my mind is playing tricks. 😬

DKDK123 · 05/11/2021 18:26

@2020mission I've not heard of anyone being told they had too much fluid so don't know much about that but I know so many friends who've been told their baby is measuring big/small and it's been totally wrong when the baby was born. Infact my SIL had her baby yesterday, she's been having weekly scans for the past 4 weeks each one being told baby was measuring small and he came out 7lb 9. The measuring just seems so inaccurate for a lot of people. No idea how yours can go from being too small to too big in a night, that's bizarre. 🤷‍♀️

@Justanothercyster hoping things get underway soon and you're not waiting too long. Come on wee bubs get out meet your mummy!

Ooh @bez91 how exciting, it might very well be little flutters already as its your second so your body knows what to watch out for.

I ordered 2 pairs of work trousers from Asos and both were crap so both getting sent back. One felt more like leggings than trousers they were so thin and the other I liked the material but they were just too baggy around the crotch and upper thighs and that was me ordering down a size as I'd read the reviews. Back to the drawing board, wish there were more shops with maternity clothes you could just walk in and try on.

bez91 · 05/11/2021 19:56

@DKDK123 argggh yes you're right just barely any shops you can try maternity stuff on! I ordered a couple of bits from Next that were in the clearance section that fit nicely. I'm going to opt more for dresses I think as they seem to fit bump better than trousers. Wishing you all the luck in the world for tomorrow 💕

Lexber · 05/11/2021 21:33

@bez91 I swear I've been feeling something too last couple of days and I'm only 13+2 after dating scan... baby 3, well 3 and 4 🤣 here SHIT I forgot for a second then lol

I did a google as wondered if it was possible and apparently it is!

Minster2012 · 05/11/2021 22:10

@Florence13 I'm sure you'll be a fab mum 🥰

@Gem176 that's a great story as how you fell for him! 😊love it!

No idea on the polywhatsit @2020mission but it's really good he's had a random daily growth spurt & turned around!! (Or the midwife was wrong of course!) so all ok then just this excess fluid??

Any movement @Justanothercyster? Any fireworks down below???

@DKDK123 have you any big supermarkets with clothes near you? Maybe they might be ok? Or H&M /Zara? Can you wear jumper dresses? That's basically my winter wardrobe every year anyway. Sweatshirt dress or jumper dress & leggings so I'm sorted already 😂

@Lexber Forgetting!! The sickness must be better then!

Kate105 · 05/11/2021 22:35

Thanks everyone it's been a tough few days so the support is very much needed. Did not realise it would be this hard!

Gem176 · 05/11/2021 22:51

@2020mission NHS website for polyhydramnios is www.nhs.uk/conditions/polyhydramnios/

All the info is on there, it's quite common in women with diabetes and a few of the girls from my fb diabetic pregnancy group have gone through it. It increases some risks slightly but all the babies in our group have been absolutely fine. Mums were monitored very closely during labour and after delivery for concerns around bleeding because the extra fluid can stretch your uterus. The extra fluid can allow the cord to move more than usual but they will have checked that at your scan. I'd think your biggest concern (especially as the doctors haven't said anything to you) is your mattress if you have a lot of extra fluid and your waters go at night..... one girl went into labour just before her induction and said it destroyed her mattress and is now advising everyone to invest in a waterproof sheet 🤣 midwives are quite often wrong on baby position, as Katie was confirmed breech they had the student midwives all come in to look and feel bump to teach them what breech actually looks and feels like.

@Minster2012 he finds it hilarious and I was so absolutely mortified at the time 🙈

@Florence13 I'm by no means a perfect mum but the ability to admit when im wrong, apologise and show my kids they mean the world to me makes me better than my own mum and hopefully my girls will always be close to me. You'll be an amazing mum ❤️

@Justanothercyster how are you getting on?

Justanothercyster · 06/11/2021 00:18

Contractions started, pain is ramping up, so all good signs. Hopefully not too much longer until actual labour now 🤞🏼

Top tip: take ear plugs to the hospital because the ward is NOISY. Even in your own room...
and a pillow.

@Justanothercyster everything crossed for a speedy labour for you and a baby on your due date (I think the 6th is your due date please correct me if I'm wrong, it's highly likely I am!!)

Katie is totally out of sorts tonight I'm guessing after her jabs yesterday so feel a long night might be ahead of us so I'm here to keep you company if you can't sleep ❤️

feliznavidad2 · 06/11/2021 07:03

Hope you managed to get some sleep @Gem176 poor Katie. 😔

Fingers crossed for lots of errm progress @Justanothercyster x

Minster2012 · 06/11/2021 07:06

@Justanothercyster ooooo 🙌🏻🤞🏻for you & baby!! I always take ear plugs, a sleep mask & ideally a blanket & pillow!! Long term hospital person knows you don't get comfort 😂😂

Lexber · 06/11/2021 07:50

Good luck @Justanothercyster hopefully either you are busy with your new baby or near the end!!! ❤️🤞🏼

I'm glad you said about ear plugs and pillow - it's been 11 years since my last baby!! Once I know if I can go natural or section is needed I will be able to plan better. Not a clue either way on what I need for 3, it's like my minds gone blank and I'm a first time mum!! 🤣🤣

Lexber · 06/11/2021 07:53

The sickness has really eased off @Minster2012 I'm down to one tablet a day each morning before I attempt to move from my bed. I take it, lay still for about 20 min then eat a banana 🤣 that helps loads. Still get queasy quite a bit but not actually sick for a week now! 🥳

Altho my appetite is awful, I never fancy anything?!?
We met friends for an hour at the local pub and I called In the chippy across the road for mushy peas, and sat in the pub eating them 🤣🤣🤣

Florence13 · 06/11/2021 07:54

@Minster2012 aww thank you 🥰

@Gem176 sorry to hear Katie is so out of sorts hope she recovers from her jabs quickly, and aww thank you yes hoping that is the sort of Mum I will be!

@Justanothercyster aww how exciting! I hope all is going well.

@2020mission oh bless you that does all sound very chaotic and confusing. I do know babies change position all the time so definitely could have changed limbs around overnight. As for polyhydramnios if the doctors don’t sound too concerned then your fluid level could be borderline higher side? But guess they will keep an eye on you.

becarefuloutthere · 06/11/2021 10:20

@Justanothercyster all the best! 💗

Justanothercyster · 06/11/2021 15:02

Phase 2 of induction, prostin gel just gone in. Having 2 in 10 min contractions but just not dilating yet. I think I'll be pregnant forever 🙈
