r.e bras I’ve been in non wired since about 8 weeks as I had read (a largely debunked) article saying wires can interfere with milk production even from early on. My ribs spread a lot during pregnancy too so to be honest I found wires uncomfortable, had to take it off at work once 😂. Just got a couple of cheap ones from Sainsburys but they aren’t too bad. Will splash out on some Hotmilk ones once my boobs inevitably explode after birth 😂

Minster2012 · 22/10/2021 10:41

Thanks for that @Haiyaa so looks pretty safe which is great as woken with another bad headache today

Crying at the football @bez91 that's tickled me, that MUST be the emotions!

Justanothercyster · 22/10/2021 13:22

So had my scan... baby currently weighing 8lb5oz... usually the scans are not that accurate but the doctor said because I've had more than 3 and all done by different people and showing the same trend it's pretty accurate... The risks of baby going over due date are higher than induction, so from next week I’ll be having a stretch and sweep (where the midwife basically goes in and tries to stimulate my cervix) every couple of days to see if we can get labour going “naturally”, but they’ve booked me in for induction on the 5th should it fail.
I'm slightly terrified 😳

Thinkingandblinking · 22/10/2021 14:36

Oh wow @Justanothercyster, we’re going to be so close, I’m in 29th for induction, baby not measuring big but they think balance of risk tips at 37 weeks so there going to go for it….

Thinkingandblinking · 22/10/2021 14:37

I have given up on bras, hate the feeling of them, can’t get one that fits…only put one on if I need to go somewhere…and then it’s like a cami style 😬

Justanothercyster · 22/10/2021 15:58

@Thinkingandblinking exciting!! It's only a day before my due date anyhow but really hoping these sweeps work!
Not long for you then!

bez91 · 22/10/2021 17:04

@Justanothercyster hopefully the sweeps do the job and kick off labour, will they do you any more growth scans now?

@Thinkingandblinking oh wow, hopefully this time next week you'll have a baby 🥰

Justanothercyster · 22/10/2021 17:28

@bez91 I hope so! No they won't as it's clear baby is big and induction is already booked :)

Is it normal to feel anxious about going from being just the two of you to having a baby? Like I have an irrational fear that we might fall out of love or something... is that weird?

OP posts:
lucyrp · 22/10/2021 21:26

@Justanothercyster make sure when you have the sweeps ( if they're successful) you keep moving for the rest of the day. When I had my successful sweep I did 2 half hour walks and we had sex. I also bounced on my ball pretty much all day and sniffed clary sage oil. Less than 12 hours later I was in labour x

DKDK123 · 23/10/2021 09:14

@Justanothercyster I gave a few friends that swear by sitting in a warm bath and tweaking their nipples for half an hour started labour. Can't remember the theory behind it something to do with it producing some hormone that stimulates contractions or something like that .....it worked for 3 of them anyways, worth a try!

bez91 · 23/10/2021 09:53

@Justanothercyster I think that's completely normal, the dynamic of your relationship does change over night as your can't be one another's focus but if you're made of strong stuff anyway you just adjust. You'll probably resent him... I resented my husband because he got more sleep than me and had useless nipples 😂 sleep deprivation is hard but maybe now is a good time to talk through expectations before baby arrives.
Ok @DKDK123 that's the first time I've heard that but I'll save it in the bank 😆 @Justanothercyster maybe do that, get DH to tweak your nipples in the bath

Justanothercyster · 23/10/2021 09:54

@lucyrp I shall damn well be crying through the spd with exercise on Monday after sweep 😂😂 and yes, although sex is soooo unappealing to me right now I'll power through 💪🏼 and curb walking, because apparently that's a thing?!?!

@DKDK123 ah I've heard about nipples, I'm having a bath later so will try it out haha

Fingers crossed the first one gets it going @Justanothercyster! Can't believe it's only 2 weeks now 😃

I have a question for anyone who had/has low iron in pregnancy... I was told I was low after my 28 week appointment bloods through a letter in the post. It said to call the GP for a prescription. I called and the receptionist just said there was no note of anything on my records and left me with nothing, didn't let me speak to a doctor or offer to help. I have iron tablet supplements I bought myself when TTC (14mg) which I have immediately started taking so I'm getting more iron in now... do you think sticking with my own tablets will do the job? I don't have any symptoms from low iron. My letter said my level was 110 whatever that means. I'm pretty fed up with the nhs lately, still waiting for a flu jab appointment too. My husband hasn't had a flu jab appointment through yet either and he's type 1 diabetic. Before pregnancy we always had a flu jab early October at the GP (I'm eligible due to mild asthma) so it seems strange we're almost in November and still nothing. I'm still puzzled by everywhere using the phrase "your midwife" as I've never seen the same person more than once through the 30 weeks of pregnancy so far. I have no antenatal classes available either just a link to some online course. I'm very much relying on books I've bought myself.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

bez91 · 23/10/2021 18:06

@2020mission I think you can just continue using you own if they are on top of like a prenatal vitamin to ensure you're getting the extra but I suppose you need to know how deficient you are, will they midwife base be able to tell you in simple terms? I had the same at a similar stage with DD and my midwife recommended spatone sachets, just added it to fresh juice like orange or grapefruit in the morning

Justanothercyster · 23/10/2021 18:39

@2020mission I've been aneamic since about 30 weeks now, and my MW got the prescription for me. It depends on the dose they recommend and whether it's an actual iron or ferritin as well issue. I would definitely call the gp just in case. Mine started at 108 which is classed "low" and then kept dropping despite low dose natural iron supplements, so always good to be safe x

OP posts:
Kate105 · 23/10/2021 22:24

Definitely worth keeping on top of the iron levels @2020mission because you need to think about post partum too! I wasn't anaemic during pregnancy but now on iron tablets post C section, so even if you feel fine now there's the potential for it to drop further.

Florence13 · 24/10/2021 06:41

I have missed so much but finally finished work so hoping to keep up with you lovely ladies a bit more.

@Minster2012 so chuffed to see you here but sorry to hear about the migraines they are awful.

@Justanothercyster aww not long at all until baby will be here. I’ve had growth scans because baby has been measuring small but is just within normal parameters so carrying on as normal. So I’m just in the waiting game for when baby decides he or she wants to make an appearance.

Congratulations to all the lovely babies I have missed there are quite a few now. ☺️

@lucyrp how are you and your girly doing?

Kirky658 · 24/10/2021 07:45

@justanothercyster @thinkingandblinking so exciting, not long!!
Also so normal to feel worried about baby joining you - I still feel that way now 10 weeks in!!!

We are on hols in Cornwall now, Alice was a trooper and so well behaved in the car. However we've both got a vile cold and she is struggling to eat because she can't breathe so it is gonna be a great week!!!

Justanothercyster · 24/10/2021 08:41

@Florence13 ooh good luck! Glad baby is within normal now.

@Kirky658 thank you. Oh dear, rest up and try to enjoy being away!
Are you feeling any better now or still plodding along?

OP posts:
Florence13 · 24/10/2021 09:17

@Kirky658 sorry to hear you have got a cold hope you make a speedy recovery and I hope you have a lovely time in Cornwall. Glad Alice was so good to cannot believe she is 10 weeks!

Kirky658 · 24/10/2021 09:24

@justanothercyster I'm still plodding along. I've had my meds upped now so I'm hopeful they will work soon 🤔 so excited to see what you have!!!
@florence13 thanks lovely, omg I know it has gone so fast!

bez91 · 24/10/2021 09:46

@Florence13 yayy to finishing work, how long do you have left?

Enjoy @Kirky658 hope the weather is kind to you!

Vivid dreams ladies 😆 when do they stop? I had them with DD but the ones I'm having are so weird and disturbing I daren't share 😂

Haiyaa · 24/10/2021 09:54

Well I’m 24 weeks @bez91 and last night I dreamt about dragons fighting at a family party sooooooo….. 😂

Hope you feel better soon @Kirky658, enjoy your holiday!

Wow @Justanothercyster the final countdown! Definitely heard of nipple tweaking as a thing, it generates oxytocin apparently which is the hormone they give you to induce labour. Even better if your partner does it for you 😉

Justanothercyster · 24/10/2021 10:12

@Kirky658 it takes time, are you talking to anyone alongside the pills?
So am I!

@bez91 so this is a weird one. Before being pregnant I've always had vivid dreams and remembered every single bit of them afterwards. I can't remember them now apart from the odd one! I think my brain is doing it wrong 😂😂

@Haiyaa yes! Oxytocin is the key. We had a good twiddle yesterday, but it's a bit awkward as I seem to leak a lot now 🤣😳
