Hi Folks

Just checkin in before I go for my scan - it's at 1.30pm so fingers crossed. I am feeling apprehensive but excited. Just hoping upon hope that there is something in there and it's the right size. I do keep having nightmares of our 20 week scan for our previous pregnancy where we were told they couldn't find a heartbeart but surely that can't happen again. I do definately feel 'more pregnant' than last time. To be honest the sickness is really getting me down. It just never seems to ease. After the scan today (when I finally believe there is a bean in there) I will promise to look into more ways to try and alleviate the symptoms.

Speak to you all later

daisy - sorry to hear about your mum, dont quite know what to say apart from hugs! xx

ts - congrats on your bfp

justjules - hope you get a diagnosis and everything goes well. cant imagine how worrying it must be.

had to take dd2 to a&e yesterday as dh had been swinging her around and managed to pop her elbow out the joint!! daft bugger that he is. they had to click it back into place and apparently now it will be weaker and therefore more likely to pop again! oh and he managed to get a parking ticket when he went into town

sciatica (im assuming this is what it is, its a stabbing pain at the top of my bum on the left hand side) is getting very bad and hurting most of the time, its never been this bad with previous pregnancys. hot baths were working but last night even that didnt work. walking hurts and so does bending down! any suggestions?

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 07/12/2007 11:47

Best of luck p2b x

gingercat12 · 07/12/2007 12:19

minspugs Yesterday at the active birth class we were recommended to do some exercises to ease sciatica (like sitting cross-legged on the floor, and maternity cat arches). There might be something on the net.

I am very impressed by you having baths. I was seriously considering a bath last weekend, but was very worried how I'll get out. (Probably with the help of several neighbours).

Bouncingturtle · 07/12/2007 15:00

Hello, had a bit of a scare, nearly passed out in Asda, got taken by ambulance to the maternity unit. Happy to report fine now, except very tired, conclusion is that I've been overdoing it and need to rest.
So goign upstairs to bed!

Hi

Bouncingturtle, I hope you are taking it easy - that must have been scary. I am pleased to report that my scan revealed a bean of a size consistent with my dates (8.4 weeks) with a heartbeat of 172 bpm. What a relief. I arrived home and found a letter with details of my appointment with the consultant on the 20th. It says that I may have tests and a scan. Has anyone else had this kind of appointment (will be 10.5 weeks)? I think from what the midwife said that the main aim of the session is to talk through the various screening tests that we may want because of the fact that our last pregnancy was a suspected triploidy (and therefore incompatible with life). Well, at least I'm feeling a little less anxious now (although still really sick) and I'm happy someone seems to be looking after me!

Bouncingturtle · 07/12/2007 17:45

Just got up after having a nap, feeling a little better. Going to veg out in front of the TV now!
P2B - congrats on the scan - and good to hear you have your appointment with the consultant, not too long to wait. They are taking good care of you, which should hopefully easy your worries a little!

feedmenow · 07/12/2007 18:06

Great news p2b!

Minspugs, I have sciatica too and my osteopath showed me a good streth to do that seems to help. Sit on an upright chair with the foot of one leg on the thigh of the other. Keeping your back straight, gently lean forward (don't arch your back at all. Imagine you ahve a piece of string tied to your nose and it is being pulled completely horizontally). You should feel the stretch through the bum cheek of the leg with the foot up! Hope this makes sense, and that it eases the pain a little for you!

Bouncingturtle, how worrying! You must take it easy otherwise you'll be knackered before you even get to give birth!

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 07/12/2007 18:37

Great news p2b! Glad your little bean is well.

Bouncingt - take it easy lady OK?

Bouncingturtle · 07/12/2007 21:45

Yes mums, I will be taking it easy

P2B, so glad the scan went well!

McCheesers, you are a little far away from me for me to come with you Tuesday but if you need some support you can take a virtual me along with you in your handbag!

Bouncing, take care of yourself lady! Glad you are feeling a bit better now!

Am feeling very huge and very stretched now, loads off ladies on my AN thread are popping and am starting to worry about the birth part. Can't believe I am this far along now (37 weeks) and feel very grateful to the ladies on this thread for keeping me sane so far!

Bouncingturtle · 08/12/2007 05:04

Beckle - I know what you mean, won't be long before it's our turn

Hello everyone cece here.

Sorry haven't checked in for ages.. Hope everyone is OK and hello to all the new people here.

I am 18 weeks now. Last night had a bit of a scare though. TMI warning. Went to the loo and did a poo. (I do have piles ). When I wiped there was red blood... at first I thought it was my piles but the blood was around the front area as well Also more blood than I have ever had with my piles before.. Since then nothing else. I have even done another poo this morning and no blood then.

Now I don't know whether to go and get checked out at the hospital. What does everyone think? The baby was kicking loads for the next couple fo hours last night. Then I went to bed. this morning I don;t think I have felt anything but then that isn't unusual at 18 weeks is it?

Bouncingturtle · 08/12/2007 09:40

I would get checked out, if only to put your mind at ease. 30% of successful pregnancies do have some kind of bleed.
the fact you have plenty of movements is a good sign, but let's face it bleeds can be worrying, so get checked out!

OP posts:
MincecePie · 08/12/2007 09:45

Thanks bouncingturtle - the thing is I am not 100% sure it is a vaginal bleed but it was unusaul for my piles. I know I should get checked really... sigh... the thought of A&E or maybe I should try and phone one of the midsives and see them directly...

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 08/12/2007 09:45

It's not unusal for you not to feel movement for a while at 18 weeks, call your midwife to get advice about the bleeding though if there is nothing there this morning I'm sure all is well.

I'm feeling really over sensitive this morning. I am at exactley the same stage of pregnancy when I started to get ill last time, and mc'd on what would be wednesday I am so gald I have a scan on wednesday. I really feel as if I am comming into the vunerable stage of my pregnancy and just want to get past 9th of Jan as than I will be the smae stage as I was when I mc'd my first at 20 weeks and it's also one day past the due date of my last baby. This baby is due 3 days after my first was 26/29th of May so the dates stick clearly in my mind. I think DP being away for a couple of days is making me think about it more.

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 08/12/2007 09:46

I'd get it checked out too, just to put your mind at rest. Sounds like it could be the piles as I know they do bleed quite a bit sometimes. Good sign about movements, but don't panic if none this morning. Mine is much less active in the mornings, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 08/12/2007 09:48

Goingfor3 - sorry x-posts. Sorry you are feeling wobbly hon, is not unnatural. We are all here for you with virtual tea and actual sympathy x

urted · 08/12/2007 11:44

hello i'm new to this thread. I'm 13 weeks pregnant having had 2 m/c. Seems to be due to low progesterone so have been taking cyclogest and gestone. I'm supposed to be coming off them soon but am worried in case natural levels haven't kicked in. Is anyone else in this situation? Wishing you all well x

feedmenow · 08/12/2007 12:31

Urted, lovely to have you here! Personally I don't know anything about your situation and what you are taking, but just wanted to say hello and welcome. Others with more knowledge will, no doubt, be along to offer some real advice and info soon

Mincece, what a bummer (chortling to myself at the little pun there!) Am sure it is just the piles - I had similar a few weeks ago with more blood than i've had before. Previosuly I've only had a few spots when wiping, but this particular time I ended up with blood in my knickers. However, in my case I was POSITIVE it was piles and nothing vaginal. I would suggest you see your GP on Monday about it (assuming you feel normal movement between now and then...) and get something for the piles. But if you are really uneasy waiting, call the midwives and have your mind set at ease.

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:34

Gfor3, as Ellie said, it is natural for you to feel wobbly at the moment, we are all here to support and listen to you. Glad you have a scan Wednesday as hopefully that will reassure you somewhat.

Cece, probably nothing to worry about but worth getting checked out anyway. Even at 37 weeks I have days when baby is not very active or I don't feel anything for a few hours - I guess they have busy and quiet days just like we do. Plus at 18 weeks there is loads of room for LO to move around and s/he could be sat too far back to feel or be facing inwards. Speak to your MW anyway though just for some reassurance and maybe a checkup - they could listen for heartbeat maybe?

Hi Urted, welcome to the thread although sorry to hear you have had 2 m/cs. Well done for getting to 13 weeks, so glad you are having treatment to help baby hang in there! Don't know much about low progesterone but by now your placenta will be starting to take over the work of nourishing the baby and maintaining the pregnancy so perhaps the progesterone levels will be regulated by that too? Will you be monitored closely when you come off the treatment?

MincecePie · 08/12/2007 12:40

Thanks everyone

I have just come back from the hospital. I phoned up and they said to come so they could check me. Heard heartbeat and so on. Doc opened me up (so to speak) with a speclum and had a look. Paniced me slightly when he said cervix wasn't closed but slightly open! However the registrar said this is normal for third baby. They suggested it was the starin of pooing that brought on the bleed. It was vaginal as there was old brown blood on speclum when they pulled it out (sorry tmi )

becklesparkle · 08/12/2007 12:43

Phew! Glad all is okay Cece, I have heard it is normal for cervix to be slightly open with 3rd baby too. Also guess it is more susceptible to irritation too which could be why the strain brought on a bleed.
