Failed by midwife?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant with my second baby and have been pushing for vbac birth. My midwife has assured me all the way that this is a low risk pregnancy and should be fine, however she measured me yesterday and said my baby hadn't grown since last app. She booked me a scan at the hospital for today.
Today they scanned me and baby is nearly 3lb heavier than she had estimated and now they want me to have a c section again.
I had multiple issues with my first pregnancy, placenta previa, diabetes and another big baby at 10lb. Placenta moved last minute had 4 failed inductions then emergency c section, midwife knew all of this... How has she gotten it soo wrong?

I've refused the c section and asked to be induced instead, doctor has said we can try but chances are the c section will be necessary... I just don't know what to do now. So upset and angry. Has anyone been through something similar?

@81Byerley

The important thing is that you have a healthy baby, and that the birth is safe, however that happens. You need to take the advice of the professionals.
I think every mother knows that. It doesn't mean that women are not allowed to question or have strong feelings about that "advice"

Update
After much thought, all last night and no sleep.
I have refused to be induced and asked for an extra week to bring on labour naturally. If I don't progress by then I will be having an elective c section. I have spoken to a different midwife and she has been very supportive and agreed this is the best course of action for me given every factor. I'm feeling alot better about it all now, fingers crossed baby will come on his own if not I'm prepared for both. I'll keep you updated thanks to everyone who had kind words and to the rest step on Legos 😁

I had failed induction and EMCS due to big baby & diabetes

This time I have said absolutely no way I am being induced again (particularly not as the only option is balloon, no drip), so if diabetes reappears and baby measures big then I'll be having ELCS, if all measuring ok and no diabetes then I will attempt VBAC but I am still swaying towards ELCS because I've heard so many positive stories compared to EMCS.

Good luck with however it goes! :) x

Good luck @Shannoncn7 !

For what it's worth, I've just had DC2 who weighed 10lb 8oz. DC1 was 9lb 2oz. Both spontaneous, quick labours with no pain relief and no assistance.

When I saw my midwife for my discharge appointment, she said I'd be low risk if we ever had a third, despite having a 10lb 8oz baby, because they view each pregnancy independently. I would be offered the diabetes test as DC2 was >4.5kg but no growth monitoring other than the standard fundal height measurements. If those measurements indicated a big baby, I'd be referred for growth scans - but I wouldn't hold out much hope as I measured on the 50th % both times, despite having 93rd & 99th % babies. Scary really!

Good luck, sounds a sensible decision.

Sounds like a good decision and glad you've had the opportunity to talk it through with another midwife. All the best OP Flowers
