@Jay3004 I was told if water break they give you 24hr for the labour to start. If not, they insist on induction. But that’s my Trust. I am hoping to avoid induction altogether and am constantly worrying that I can feel my water breaking. Going to read up on the antibiotic + steroid combo. Does that give you 48hr instead of 24? Or is only if your waters break before 37w?

Mamabearwhere · 15/08/2021 20:14

@Hopefulmummie I was getting them a lot a few months back. Was told to use magnesium spray before bed onto my legs (I didn’t use it long enough because I seem to be allergic as made me really itchy). Also eating one or two bananas before bed is meant to help due to the high potassium. Hope you feel better soon, it’s such an annoying symptom!!

Mamabearwhere · 15/08/2021 20:17

@deedeebythesea nothing for me either but I have been getting a few cramps and super uncomfortable braxton hicks today. I’m also a lot more tired than usual but again not sure what to make of it all. Good luck for you driving test!!

FTEngineerM · 15/08/2021 21:01

Has anyone got any calm vibes they can share with me please 😭Nightmare weekend, we had a takeaway Friday night and ended up with food poisoning, spent Friday night in A&E on IV fluids for 12 hours after a massive blood loss (tmi but from my butt), my heart rate skyhigh and just not coming down and drifting in and out of consciousness. Then they monitored baby and kept getting confused with my heart rate and his on the trace so had to be on it for an age holding the thing still and not moving.

After a few more hours my heart rate had dropped to 120 so clearer; he’s fine thank god! I haven’t eaten since Friday at 5. Barely taking water every few hours. Absolutely petrified that this will start labour before he’s ready 😬

I’m home now and a lot more comfortable but I’m can’t stop myself checking his movements what feels like every second. I’ve been Googling all sorts and wound myself up.🤯

KHR1 · 15/08/2021 22:16

Sorry you've had such a rubbish weekend @FTEngineerM and hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like you had a horrific case of food poisoning 💐

Bubbles1st · 15/08/2021 22:32

@FTEngineerM what an awful ordeal for anyone never mind when heavily pregnant. Pleased your home now and sending you lots of positive vibes for feeling much better ASAP.hopefully
Tomorrow you can eat and get your energy back up. If baby has stayed out through all the weekend and feeing rough I'm sure they will stay out a bit longer until it's time.

If it was the take away I do hope they are being reporting to environmental health!

GWhiteley · 15/08/2021 22:47

@FTEngineerM that sounds horrific, hope you start feeling better very soon, sending mental hugs

Does anyone else feel weird when they bend or crouch down? I get this strange pulling feeling down below & an ache in that area too whenever I go down on my hunches. Quite an unpleasant feeling, and it takes a few minutes to disappear. I also can't sit with my legs closed now 😂

Mamabearwhere · 15/08/2021 22:56

@FTEngineerM gosh I’m so sorry to hear that, sounds horrific. I hope you start to get your energy back soon and sending prayers for you that baby stays in a bit longer.

@GWhiteley I haven’t bend or crouched down in weeks!! Way too painful and uncomfortable. Generally if something falls at home I tend to leave it until my kids or DH are able to pick up Grin and I’m only wearing sandals or sliders now as can’t be dealing with shoes and laces. Not long to go, we’re nearly there!!

Sorry if tmi but anyone else been suffering with diarrhoea as we approach d day? I randomly wake up at night with an urge for toilet (never usually need to) and dr google suggests it’s an indicator of labour being round the corner.

AdventuresAwait · 15/08/2021 23:09

@Mamabearwhere, I've had some diarrhoea today for the first time and I've also been worried it means labour could be near... 😒

@FTEngineerM, sorry to hear that. Glad you're home now. Sending hugs and best wishes xx

Jay3004 · 16/08/2021 00:50

@Kat1112025 glad to hear he’s doing well 💙 Hopefully you can both get home soon xx

Jay3004 · 16/08/2021 00:54

@Sillysocks998 all sounds so dramatic! Nothing much happening here, had a spell of contractions around teatime but nothing since.

Jay3004 · 16/08/2021 00:57

@deedeebythesea I think it’s because I’m so early, they said they’d prefer to get him to 36 weeks. Some women can have their waters break and go on to carry the baby for weeks afterwards with monitoring. The doctor said they need to weigh up the risks of infection vs baby being born so early so they’ll monitor me for 48 hours and if nothing else happens they’ll send me home with antibiotics and 4 hourly temperature checks.

FTEngineerM · 16/08/2021 04:51

Thanks ladies, I tried to put my phone down and stop worrying but didn’t work 😬as you can see the time. I almost didn’t really care about myself and as soon as they’d monitored the baby and said he is looking ok in there I just wanted to get home, but I still had to wait for results ☹️. 36+1 today and seeing midwife next week, I hope the time flies by.

@Bubbles1st you’re right, the midwife checking the baby over, after the monitoring, said ‘it looks like they couldn’t give a crap what you’ve been through tonight’ which made me smile a little with relief.
We’re going to call them today when we get a chance, DP sent an email on Saturday but we’re not really sure of the process or what they need.

GWhiteley · 16/08/2021 05:43

I need some help! I bought some maternity pants from sainsburys, it was their own brand (so quite cheap) and as I've been packing my hospital bag I'd thought I'd better have a look at them. They're basically paper pants 🤦‍♀️ is that what everyone else has got or do you have 'proper' pants?

Sceptre86 · 16/08/2021 05:49

@Kirky658 so sorry to hear you are feeling further away from Alice. I think the best thing would be to speak to the head midwife, maybe with your partner there if you feel you need the support, to discuss how they can support you in feeding Alice and get you over to her everyday. Obviously being apart from her will cause stress and increase your BP, that shouldn't come as a shock to them as will the added stress of not getting the support you need to feed her. My heart goes out to you as I remember being in a similar situation when my dd was born, that was 2016 and I had hoped things would have improved a lot by now. My bp skyrocketed after birth (thankfully not before). You need to be absolutely blunt about your feelings and how it is not acceptable to be separated from your dd this way. Granted you need to be monitored but spending time around Alice will be beneficial for you both, help your milk come in (if you are going down that route) and prevent pnd. There are ways in which you can be supported but unless you are vocal you will slip through the net. Sending lots of love x

I'm taking proper pants (big over the bump knickers) with thick maternity pads (boots own!)
Bubbles1st · 16/08/2021 07:18

@GWhiteley I've got proper pants too. Mostly because I'm not sure I'd find any to fit my bigger bum and don't want to waste any money.

OP posts:
SP2Bx · 16/08/2021 08:04

@GWhiteley I bought some "disposable" pants from boots which have a built in pad, they're more like mesh than paper, but feel like they'll be super comfy post-birth (think adult nappy!) And then I have sized up in comfy cotton "granny" pants, and have normal maternity pads on standby for with those.

Also with the bending/crouching, I get this like "hot spot" to the right of my belly button, like I've twinged a muscle there but then it almost feels like burning... it's very strange! So trying to avoid it at all costs now!

@FTEngineerM Oh my goodness what an ordeal! So pleased to hear you and baby are seemingly ok after your hospital stay! As someone else said I would imagine if baby has made it this far with everything being OK then they've been unaffected thankfully!! Guess you can take some comfort in the fact you're already 36 weeks (since 37 weeks is classed as full term and not premature, even though there's a lot of focus on 40 weeks).

AdventuresAwait · 16/08/2021 08:09

@GWhiteley, I've bought proper pants and maternity pads. A size up, a style that will go above my wound (c-section) and cheap so they can go in the bin afterwards as I won't be wearing them again 🤣

CherLW · 16/08/2021 08:13

@GWhiteley I’ve got some old big pants and a few pairs of new big pants which will all get binned after! Those with boots own maternity pads.

Kirky658 · 16/08/2021 12:29

@ftengineerm I hope you're okay what a scary thing to be dealing with! Our little one was born at 35 weeks and she's doing amazingly well so please don't worry if they're a bit early.

Sorry I haven't replied to you all, I'm still in ICU on drips and meds galore, BP is just not behaving. Haven't been able to see Alice since Saturday but I'm doing OK, she's getting loads of time with her daddy, he's sending me loads of pics and my milk is coming in fantastically so I feel ateast I'm doing something to help her. In terms of. Me, I've had an mri this morning as they're worried it might not just be pre eclampsia, that was inconclusive so more teats I reckon. Feeling OK in myself just want to get home and settled. I hope you are all doing as well as you can be xx

Scotti84 · 16/08/2021 12:39

@Kirky658 cant imagine how frustrating it must be for you not being able to see her, but like you said you are doing what you can, she's getting daddy time and hopefully you can work on getting better and soon you can all be home together. I hope the tests dont find anything too bad.

@FTEngineerM what an experience! That sounds awful! The last thing anyone needs at this time! Glad to hear everything is ok.

On pants, ive got big over bump ones packed, hoping i dont need a c section but if i do then they wont sit on the scar, and ive just got the massive highest level pantyliners that feel as thick as a nappy. Tried to prepare for all possibilities!

Squibble84 · 16/08/2021 13:09

@FTEngineerM that sounds horrible, I hope you’re feeling better! Sounds like the baby is doing fine though! I had awful food poisoning in my last pregnancy, sickness and diarrhoea that lasted a couple of days and I ended up in hospital the first night as I had the most horrendous pains that would start at the top of my abdomen and back and roll all the way down, I thought I was having contractions! I was only 23 weeks and the baby was absolutely fine!

@Kirky658 so sorry you haven’t been able to see your baby but as you said at least she’s having lots of daddy time and that your milk is coming in! Hopefully you’re out of the icu soon and able to get home with Alice! Xxx

SP2Bx · 16/08/2021 13:21

@Kirky658 So pleased you seem a bit brighter today hun. That's such wonderful news about your milk and being able to do what you can for Alice despite everything! I really hope they get to the bottom of it for you soon xx

CobleCloud · 16/08/2021 13:28

Take care of yourself @Kirky658 it's great news about your milk like others have said 🥰

@FTEngineerM that's sounds horrible.. hopefully you are on the mend, so glad you went in and got checked out etc. Hopefully you are now resting and feeling a bit better.

@Jay3004 and @Sillysocks998 sending love to you ladies too! Hope everything is going ok!!

Thinking of you all! 😘
