37 weeks and counting thread..aug babies?

Hi all,

Just opening up an August baby thread. I'm sure there's one out there somewhere but I can't find one... plus wanted to start one so I could keep up!

I'm 37+1 today with DS2. Unfortunately, my DS1 was stillborn at 39wks as he was very poorly, so my first birthing experience was very different for us we didn't get to enjoy the end of our pregnancy it was a very tough and upsetting time.

This time around baby is healthy (touch wood) and we have been able to enjoy parts of the pregnancy (but of course have had so much anxiety too due to previous experience) I am due and ELC in 9/8 but I do wonder if little man will come before then 🤔.

Anyway, just wanted to give background. But want this thread to be a support thread for us all in similar positions awaiting our end of July/Aug babies 🥰

How are we all? How do we feel? Anyone else fed up now like me 😂?

Much love 💕 we are nearly there!

Hiiiii!

There is one already here if you did want to join: Due August 2021 - the final countdown! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/4292783-due-august-2021-the-final-countdown

But I'll hop on here and say hello to get this one going.

Firstly, I'm so so sorry to hear that your first was stillborn. That must cause so much worry for you this time around. It's obviously not nearly the same at all, but this is my 4th pregnancy after 3mcs so I understand the feeling of joy being sucked out of pregnancy. I'm still terrified this could still go wrong.

I'm also booked in for an ELCS on 9th! Very concerned he will arrive before then though!

Generally feeling physically ok. I'm on maternity leave so I don't have to do much 😀

How about you? X

lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 11:00

Hi @Daffodil21 !

Thanks for popping on! I'll have a nosey at the other thread but will continue on this one as I could imagine there's lots to read through on that one 😂 my baby brain can't keep up!

Thanks so much and yes you deffo understand the anxiety! We are so nearly there now and as much as ignoring the worrying is so hard we are so close so got to keep positive 💪 we've got this! Our babies will be with us so soon!

Amazing we're both having ELCs on the 9th ahh so soon! Have you chosen an elec due to your anxieties or other reasons? How many weeks will you be on the 9th? I've chosen it as I was induce with DS1 and cannot go through that experience again far too traumatic. However, if DS2 wanted to make an early appearance before the 9th I think I will be okay with that as long as he pops out with no problems 🙏🙏🙏

I'm glad you're feeling physically okay! That's amazing! And great to hear you're now on Mat leave so you can relax. Have you felt the need to nest? I am desperate to continue nesting but have now got excruciating sciatic pain I can barely walk 🙄 doubt the pain will go now until baby is here so bed and chair bound from now on. Luckily DP is working from home now until he's off for pat leave so he can helps tons.

@lukiebebe yeah it is several threads in but you're more than welcome to join midway without reading!

Yeah it just feels like we're waiting to see if it's a good outcome or not. I guess we'll find out within 2 weeks..!

Yes, I've chosen an ELCS because quite frankly I do not trust my body to do as it's supposed to do! I would rather a qualified surgeon deliver him! Even though I know recovery will likely be harder, I'll have enough support at home to do it. I'm a little scared about him arriving soon as the local hospital has really reduced maternity services atm, so most people are being sent to the other one which is over an hour away. Both my mum's labours were really fast and under an hour (I was born at home without any midwives) so I'm terrified of giving birth on the side of the road and something being wrong. I've booked an air b&b a 7 min drive from the hospital for this Monday until CS date, just in case, so hopefully nothing will happen before we get there!

Oh no that sounds horrible!! I had a few miserable weeks of PGP in my lower back but that's all eased off! It's weird, it's like I was so immobile really early on, and now I'm not so much!

I've actually been on maternity leave for a while. Long story short my boss was asking me to go out on building site visits regularly, during a pandemic, until my mat leave (intended for mid July) and wouldn't accept it when I said I wasn't happy. I got a doc note to say fit to work but wfh only (as I had been this entire time) but by that point I was far too stressed out and decided I didn't want to put my pregnancy at any risk at all, so I resigned and went on maternity leave at the earliest possible date. Not ideal come March, when it'll run out, but it was the right thing to do at the time. I also think that's probably why I've been finding it physically ok, because I haven't really had to do anything! Are you on mat leave yet?

I've had the odd nesting spurt! Have you? Have you got a nursery all set up yet? We actually haven't, because we figured he'd be in with us for a while anyway so we're going to leave it set up as a spare room for now (family live far away).

I'm 36 weeks Smile

Feel like time's slowed down a lot now, the last week or so have dragged!

Hopefully not too long before some of these August babies are making appearances

lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 11:41

@Daffodil21 yes it is a frightening time! Let's pray that our little joys are healthy and will be heading home with us 🙏🙏

Gosh what a nightmare I'm glad you put your Foot down and listened to your body and it's needs! As much as work is important our own mental/physical health is more so. I'm glad you have support at home after your section! And when March comes it'll all fall into place. For me, I haven't worked since Jan 2020 (because of DS1) so I've gone from one mat leave into another! Well I start my second Mat leave on the 9th so atm I'm in limbo, but work have granted I can do it I just will have this month unpaid as I technically have no work as my jobs been made redundant 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I am fine and would rather look after myself and baby and worry about work in a years time!

Good idea about the air b&b just incase give you peace of mind! I hope for your sake and fears that you reach the section date and all goes smoothly 🙏

In terms of nesting, yep I went crazy few weeks back but now I can't finish it off because of this damn pain! I hope mine disappears like yours did but midwives have said it most likely won't now until baby is here! I'm such an organised person usually so this has annoyed me but like you say baby won't be in nursery any time soon anyway so there's plenty of time I have to keep telling myself this! We have the furniture and decorated it etc some clothes and things are organised in the drawers etc but not to my standard haha! But Nevermind!

What will your baby be sleeping in in their first months? We have the tutti bambini cozee, which we need to put up still. Hopefully baby boy will sleep well in it 🙏

@c307 hey! Welcome.

I am totally with you on it "dragging"! I have less than two weeks now but it still feels so long away lol.

When's your due date? Hope pregnancy has been good to you xx

We are having our sections on the same day. So sorry you’ve had to go through that in the past though 😞 when I looked back I think I commented on one of your posts a long time ago.

How are you feeling about the c-section? 13 days to go 😬 have you told people the date?

I’ve had the easiest pregnancy ever but all of a sudden since about last week it feels like I’ve been hit by a bus. I think I might have a bit of a cold or something on top of low iron. My legs get so heavy feeling as the day goes on and my head has been almost ‘fuzzy’ feeling 🤦🏼‍♀️ Probably helps when it comes to the big day though if I’m desperate for it to be over 😂

lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 12:11

Hey @sarah13xx! So many of us having sections on the 9th! 😬 I feel less alone we got this 💪.

Thanks for the love I do remember your comments in my previous posts ☺️

I feeling numb to the thought of a section like I can't believe I will actually be going through it? Feel like I'm watching someone else's life if that makes sense haha! Keep saying to DP "am I actually doing this?" lol. It doesn't feel real and I don't think it will until im lying there like "okay there's no backing away now" 😂

I wasn't planning on telling anyone the date but I forgot to tell my mum that and she's told a few family members bless her she's so excited and feels bad for doing so but she didn't know we were keeping it quiet. So my bad never mind. Have you told anyone?

Urgh i feel you on this! I've very recently started feeling awful too! I keep telling myself that atleast it's now and I haven't felt awful for ages! Just have to ride this feeling out for 13 days! 🙏

Lovely you are having a much better experience this pregnancy, condolences on the loss of your first ds.

I'm 37wk, booked in for elcs in 2 weeks.
If baby decides to come earlier I will go for vbac, did not want to have an induction again after our 1st (ended up with fetal distress and interventions). 2nd & 3rd were spontaneous and much bigger babies but better births. 4/5th were breech twins so evicted via the sunroof at 38wk. This one is measuring very big so life is pretty uncomfortable now and been counting down the days, it's dragging. Staying busy with all the stuff that has to be done but knocked gym sessions on the head once I got my surgery date. I was powerlifting at 35wk but baby is so low down I worry about it inducing labour now.

sarah13xx · 27/07/2021 12:22

@lukiebebe must be a popular birthday 😂 haha me too! The whole time I’ve been pregnant I’ve watched every video on YouTube about them so I feel like I know exactly what happens but still feels completely odd that it will actually be me. Getting so caught up in the process/needles etc that I think I’ll be very taken aback when I actually see the baby. It’s just the build up I’m dreading because I know I’ll have that horrible anxious feeling in my stomach the night before and on the morning of it. I’ve to go in at 10am then the section should be around 1pm. Originally it was meant to be first thing but I’ve been moved back. In a way I’m quite glad because I can have an early breakfast and stay in the house a bit longer before going in there to completely panic about it 😂 I don’t think any kind of excitement will actually hit me til I’m numb and lying there. It’s just the cannula and spinal I’m dreading I think, for some reason being cut open isn’t my main concern 🙈 I’m not even bad with needles usually getting blood taken etc so I don’t know why I’m building them up so much! We haven’t told anyone, not even my mum. Don’t know how I’ve managed it. She’ll know it will be then or very soon after then though so it won’t be a huge surprise but I think she thinks you have to go in at 7am for a section so I will text them in the morning about something to throw them off 😂

It really won’t be long at all now! So so strange 🙈

lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 12:26

@Chelyanne thanks lovely.

Gosh you've had a mix of experiences with your DC haven't you! When is your section date is it the same day as me ? 9th? I hope whenever it is all goes smoothly for you all!

Wow about power lifting! Puts me to shame 😂

OP posts:
lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 12:31

@sarah13xx same about watching things etc and I've spoken to lots of people but yep just like you i will also be an anxious mess on the lead up!

I don't know when I'll be going in. Last time I look in their diary there were two of us on the day but now I don't know if there are more of us and how it works in terms of who goes first etc! I hope I don't have to wait too long!

Can you eat before hand? I've been told I'm not allowed to eat. So I have to eat my last meal the evening before and not drink anything from midnight. The only thing I'm allowed to do on the morning before I go in is take a sip of water to have my omeprazole tablets which I have to take the eve before and the morning of.

Wow about keeping it to yourself! I wish we could have done that! We have to go in at 7am and wait etc for our turn. It's very interesting how each hosp is so different! Love the idea of texting to throw her off haha 😂

OP posts:
sarah13xx · 27/07/2021 12:44

@lukiebebe it sounds like the whole thing is really very painless and I’ve seen so many people say they’ve love to relive the day because it’s so magical or they wished they’d ‘had a word with themselves’ because they ended up wasting it when it was completely fine so I think I need to try and enjoy it if possible 🙈

I think most hospitals get everyone in early and just decide what time each person will be going. Mine for some reason splits it up into 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon so if you’re the morning you can’t eat past midnight and can’t drink from when you get there I think. If you’ve to go in at 10am you can have a light breakfast before 6am then no water past 10am. I’ll probably still be absolutely starving by 1pm but at least it won’t have been since the night before! If there were only two of you that would be ideal 😂 they said at mine they usually do the first one about 8.30/9 then the next one about 10/10.30. Seems to take a while between each with cleaning up and going to speak to the next people in etc. I was just very interested in how exactly it all ran so asked so many questions 😂

It’s been easier than I thought actually. We have a dog so I’m a bit worried if we go in at 10 and emergencies happen or I’m not the first one and it ends up being hours and hours before the baby arrives. Considering hiding a key and texting our neighbour to let the dog out so I don’t have to tell my family before the baby arrives!

Chelyanne · 27/07/2021 12:57

@lukiebebe mines the day after yours, good luck with yours too. I didn't want one last time but it was much better than I expected. Yeah each birth has been very different.
My body was in bits after the twins and I worked hard to repair it, no way was I giving up and losing it all for pregnancy. Baby has thrived and got quite lively during gym sessions too. A bit of a downer that I'll be out of the gym so long with recovery but I will get back up to my pre-pregnancy number pretty quickly so not a big deal.

Daffodil21 · 27/07/2021 15:05

@lukiebebe sorry, I didn't mean to put my foot in it asking if you were on maternity leave ❤️

Absolutely, work certainly is not everything. I'm sure everything will work out when we need it to...!

This is probably an obvious one that you've tried, but have you tried pillows between your knees and under your hips? I honestly think that's what's made the world of difference to me!

So we've got his drawers and a little wardrobe in the room next door, which will be his room eventually, and then a crib in our room. We do have two more bedrooms but they're upstairs so not actually that useful for the early years 😂 and the bed we bought for the spare room next to ours doesn't really fit upstairs either! The bedroom next to ours has safari wallpaper in it already so it's not exactly a mature bedroom 😂 We've just got a normal wooden crib for our bedroom and then an innovi cocoon for downstairs, which was intended to keep the cats out (it has a mesh breathable cocoon cover over the top). But that massively failed - we tested it out with the cats and one of them curled up in in because it bent inwards like a hammock and she loved it 🙄 so we will still use it for him to sleep downstairs, but can't rely on it at all with the cats! I had to google your cot - it looks so cosy! Hopefully he'll be well and truly content in it!

Have you got everything else you need? I think we're all sorted but pretty clueless so probably forgotten loads!

Xxx

Daffodil21 · 27/07/2021 15:06

Hello to everyone else 👋

I have actually told a few people my CS date. I haven't been very secretive at all about this pregnancy tbf! 🙈

lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 22:23

@sarah13xx oh thanks for writing that because that's helped me feel a little better! I will try my best to listen to that advice too lol!

Oh I see !! That makes sense then you enjoy your breakfast haha! I should have maybe asked more! I may ask next week as I'm going in for monitoring (just for reassurance) be interesting to know how they decide who goes in first?

That might be a good idea about the dog if you're happy for your neighbours to do that! But hopefully you won't have to!

Can't believe another day is pretty much over eeek!

OP posts:
lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 22:24

@Chelyanne thanks lovely ! Oh the next day I will be thinking of you! I'm glad to hear it was better than expected a lot of people have said this which is reassuring!

Good for you! Great spirit to have! I hope I have that mindset as I really want to make sure I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight ASAP! Mainly because I don't want to spend money on new clothes 😂

OP posts:
lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 22:29

@Daffodil21 oh no not at all a problem that you asked! Honest.

Haha yes I have! I sleep with so many pillows and to be honest it's really comfy but hasn't seemed to help! I've always slept with a pillow between my knees anyway lol as it's super comfy! So I reckon I'm just meant to have this pain unfortunately!

Oh okay so you have some bits sorted for now that's great! And omg don't even get me started with cats! I'm dreading my cat getting everywhere! He's such a pain! So nosey and thinks everything is his!!! The other day I had all the doors and windows open when it was super hot. I heard this scratching sound and the little sh*t was "making biscuits" (the massage thing they do with their paws if you know what I mean lol) on baby's new cot mattress!!!!!! Luckily it was covered in plastic but still I went nuts! I just can't be bothered with this cat getting everywhere! We are putting a Moses downstairs too and I just know he'll investigate that aswell! My cats an indoor cat so even more hard work 😓.

Im going to Google the cocoon never heard of that one I'm intrigued!

I think we have everything! But like you say there may be so much more because it's all so new! 🤔

OP posts:
lukiebebe · 27/07/2021 22:31

@Daffodil21 omg that cocoon thing is awesome!!! Perfect for stopping the cat unless like you say they do their own thing and still sit on it somehow! Gosh they're so annoying 😂

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 28/07/2021 20:05

@lukiebebe I thought you probably had but thought I'd mention just in case 😂

Ours cats are the same!!! Both indoors too! The older boy isn't so bad but the younger one thinks everything is hers! We have to have the mattress in its plastic on its side in the crib, if not she'd be in it. She did manage to push in flat once and curl up on it, so I put a sheet over it and obviously she still got in it 😒 going to start shutting them out of our bedroom when I go to the air b&b on Monday to hopefully get them used to it (someone will be here looking after them - my husband to start with, then my mum). I did think about shutting them out sooner but they'd just sneak in when I go to the loo in the night so not a lot of point! They're both so affectionate and lovely but also not sure how they'll take a newborn..!

I'll try and dig out a photo of the cat in the cocoon!

Daffodil21 · 28/07/2021 20:08

Excuse the mess Blush

But yeah, didn't quite work as intended..!

37 weeks and counting thread..aug babies?
lukiebebe · 31/07/2021 17:38

@Daffodil21 hahaha they just don't care do they that's hilarious! My cats the exact same little buggers 😂 yep so affectionate but pain in the bums!

Hope they will be okay with newborns! My cousin brought her newborn round the other week and my cat wasn't at all fussed but her toddler on the other hand made my cat sooo scared he hid upstairs until he had gone 😂

How are you feeling? I'm so tired and fed up. The pain in my hips getting worse! I just need next week to hurry up !! Xx

OP posts:
lukiebebe · 31/07/2021 17:39

How's everyone doing this weekend?

I am exhausted and achey!!!! 😖

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 31/07/2021 18:06

@lukiebebe that's good they didn't mind the newborn. I hope ours will be the same! They're not keen on my friend's toddler. One of the hides upstairs all the time, but the other did come and say hello the other week. I guess toddlers are nosier and move more though!

I'm good thank you. Have only left the sofa to pee today so had a mega lazy day! Sort of starting to dawn on me that there really isn't long to go now 😂 have a feeling my ELCS will be pushed back though as the hospital is so busy atm.

Have you much planned for this week or can you take it easy? X
