Hi all!
I've also started looking at maternity clothes and bought a couple of leggings from H&M, just loungewear to be comfy at home as everything else felt too uncomfortable! I don't need the large bit for the bump yet but it's made a massive difference in comfort as I am so bloated all the time! I have a gas baby. So H&M very good so far!

I am struggling with jeans though - it's like either you have a big bump or none at all. There's no in-between!

Jonesy88 · 04/08/2021 18:22

I’m struggling clothes wise too. I wore some maternity jeans this week as there was no chance with my proper jeans. They’re over bump skinny so I pulled the bump bit over my boobs and shoved a jumper on. The skinniness of the jeans meant they fitted on the bum at least. I’ve bought some super stretchy leggings too and feel so much more comfortable.

AIC2015 · 04/08/2021 19:25

Does anyone feel like they're really not showing yet? 16 weeks tomorrow and I just feel fat. I was a size 10 beforehand and I still have a little bit of a mum pouch from my first pregnancy. So I just feel like that little bit of lower belly fat is hiding any bump growth. I could still do up my normal jeans at the weekend, though they were a little uncomfortable. I normally just wear gym leggings or dresses now to be comfortable at work.

A woman I work with is 20 weeks with her second and has been showing for ages, but she's much slimmer than me.

Just so self conscious of my body already 😫

sociallydistained · 04/08/2021 19:41

I feel really fat and can’t see a baby bump just fat and feeling uncomfortable in clothes. Jeans still do up too although become uncomfortable after time.

I’m still trying to keep up exercise but I can’t do what I once did, the energy isn’t there but I’m trying to commit to doing something most days of the week. I am still doing mixed strength, cardio, a bit of HIIT and bike. Just not with the same intensity I once did. However I still feel I eat to much and struggle to reign it in so I know I’ll be gaining weight from that as well as pregnancy weight. I try not to feel bad but I do 🙄

tavileh · 04/08/2021 20:06

Hi everyone, thought I'd say Hi as I'm due 29th Jan :) I'm also struggling loads with 1st tri symptoms still, 14wks and still bloated to the extreme, so tired, and terrible indigestion (which was my main problem stomach wise so far).. Hoping it will all end soon! @sociallydistained I feel you with the exercise difficulties, I'm still dog walking and swimming, but used to run 3 or 4 times a week and do tons of yoga, both of which are so unappealing now! Want to feel more like myself again, its making it hard to be excited..

BobbleWobble1 · 04/08/2021 20:22

I'm 17 weeks with second baby and still not showing much at all. Still wearing my normal clothes Confused I do get a bit more bloated in the evening but that's it. I'm a very petite build and really took ages to show with my first so I'm not too surprised.

For maternity clothes, I much preferred under bump as I could just never fill the over bump bit and it just looked silly! I've got most of my stuff from last time but managed to pick up a coat in the sale as I got away without one last time.

Jonesy88 · 04/08/2021 20:56

Other one here just feeling fat. I had a tummy before (size 14) so I think it’s going to take a while to properly show. I think as long as I ultimately get one I don’t mind too much now.

When people ask if I have a bump yet my stock response is to just talk about bloat.

Scottishgal85 · 04/08/2021 21:25

I'm 17 weeks today and sometimes I think I have a wee bump, other times I just feel fat Hmm
I've also tried to keep on top of exercising but I'm definitely not nearly as fit/active as I was.

I had a look at the DP website and managed to order a couple of dresses for work. I'm really unsure about jeans though, not sure if over bump or under bump would be better... I'm not liking how few shops have maternity stock in store and it all has to be bought online, I much prefer seeing things for myself!

spttc · 05/08/2021 10:41

I'm 14+4. Stomach was flat as a pancake a week ago. Not even bloated really. I was at the beginning, even my hands were huge but it's sort of gone down. I suddenly have a small bump. I still haven't told people, I'd say they think I'm putting on a few lbs around the tummy 😂

Got my first Pfizer vaccine this morning. I was very in 2minds about it. But glad Iv done it now with coming into winter, hospital numbers rising etc.

PheebsJ · 05/08/2021 18:05

Hi I’m not due end of Jan, I’m due 13th Jan and having twins so imagine they’ll actually arrive at the end of Dec but couldn’t find any other January chat! Was in one but it hasn’t been active for a few weeks now. How far along is everyone I’m now 16 weeks and they’re growing away, finally showing more, started noticing a slight bump around 12 weeks but now definitely think it’s more noticeable which is exciting as with my son I was showing at all until about 18 weeks.

AIC2015 · 05/08/2021 19:54

@PheebsJ what a beautiful bump!! Congratulations on your twins! I work in research and on a study with women expecting twins and they definitely start showing sooner, and most babies arrived around 36 weeks. I'm also an identical twin myself and it's the best ever!!

I'm 16 weeks too and just feeling fat and wobbly!

PheebsJ · 05/08/2021 22:40

Awh congrats is this your 1st? Wow that sounds so fascinating! I’m having fraternal twins and am a fraternal twin myself, means there was always the possibility of having twins but never really thought it would happen so I was so shocked when I found out 😂 excited but never as my kids will all be so close in age, when they are born I’ll have a 1 year old and 2 newborns 😅

PheebsJ · 05/08/2021 22:41

*nervous

EsseKey · 06/08/2021 08:02

Hello how's everyone doing?
I am on holiday atm and enjoying the internet-free time but I had a scroll at the latest posts and I am glad to read that most of you are doing well and started thinking about maternity clothes, bump size etc! Exciting 🥰
In the last week I have definitely started showing something that wasn't just bloat 😂 and my usual shorts are sooo tight I need to size up!
I will stay here for a few weeks longer so I have booked a private appointment to check the baby with an obgyn on the 18th. Can't wait! 🥰
So far I have been telling people about the pregnancy with a message or video call, I have a big dinner with family friends this saturday when we will have to tell people face ti face, I am nervous!

expectinglittlebear · 06/08/2021 08:47

@PheebsJ @tavileh Welcome and congratulations girls Flowers

@EsseKey Aww that's so lovely, glad you are doing well!!

I had the weirdest sensation yesterday, I think I am starting to feel LO already - I thought they were still tiny at this stage, so I was genuinely so shocked. Basically, for the last few days I have been getting what feels like popping or bubbling in my belly - its not bowel or hunger related, its a completely different type of sensation. Been getting that on and off. Then I was at work yesterday, went to the loo, and when I looked down to pull my trousers up, my whole bump was to one side, it was the most bizarre thing, like I had a tennis ball under my skin on one side of my belly button, and the other side was completely flat. I gently pressed down on where it was protruding and my whole bump shifted and went back to normal shape. It must be baby, theres no other explanation for it, but I am so shocked as I genuinely thought it was too early to start feeling and seeing movement! But I have had a scour through MN and it seems other people have also felt and seen movement this early (I am 14+5 today)!! Has anybody else had anything like this yet??

EsseKey · 06/08/2021 09:07

@expectinglittlebear that's so lovely! I guess it might be the baby, but difficult to tell especially if it is our first one!
I had a couple of weird moments where I felt something like gas but not quite so I thought it could be the baby, but there are so many things happening down there that I can't be so sure. Definitely I can feel my uterus when I touch my belly, i like to do it especially in the morning when I am not bloated 😬
One other weird thing that happens to me is that when I sit for too long I feel "compressed" so I have to go lie down or stand up for a while to have this compression feeling in my lower belly go away!

sociallydistained · 06/08/2021 09:22

Well I for one am definitely feeling something every morning. Baby is waking me up lol. There’s definite flutters at the same time every morning this has been going on less than a week now. I’m 15+1. I looked up week 15 on NHS website and I’m definitely textbook symptoms. Itchy skin? Yes!!

@EsseKey I get the same with the compression!

In other news, my cats seem intent on waking me up at various points in the night (one to go out and one to come in! I need to switch them round tonight m!) so I feel I am being prepared…
We are going to move house in the autumn so I just know my cats are going to be a nightmare then too lol.

Lee0511 · 06/08/2021 10:15

@PheebsJ we have the same due date 😊 I feel like I'm huge already 🙈

thecapitalsunited · 06/08/2021 11:59

Aww, I can't believe some of you are starting to feel your babies. I'm 15w today and have nothing but round ligament pain and constipation.

Flowers222 · 06/08/2021 12:36

@expectinglittlebear I'm 17 weeks today but definitely been feeling little movements for a couple of weeks. There is no missing it now though, sometimes it's hard enough to make me jump which has surprised me. I also noticed I had a lopsided bump when laying down the other day! Really worried me but it looks like it's normal and depends where baby is lying. When I looked later that day it was in the middle again. So strange!

I still don't really have a bump. Though my waist is definitely growing. I think I just look like I've put on a few pounds at the moment and can't wait to look obviously pregnant so people don't think I'm just getting fat 😬

Tangfastic91 · 06/08/2021 12:46

So interesting to hear that some of you are feeling movements already! I'm 15+4 and maybe felt something last night? But it was so brief that I may well have imagined it so will be interested to see if it happens again over the next few days. First baby though so not expecting proper movement for aaaagggesss. No bump either, just extra padding!

SouthwestSis · 06/08/2021 12:47

No feelings of movement for me yet, I'm 15+4 today but definitely starting to get bigger and off out shopping for some maternity clothes this afternoon.

Alle1991 · 06/08/2021 13:12

Hiya hope your all doing ok. I’m 15+3 and starting to think I’m getting a small bump but also feeling really bloated still. I’ve told most people now so not a secret which scares me a little (not sure why)

I going to order some maternity clothes this week I think, maybe some comfy leggings.

Has anyone started buying for the baby yet? I looked at prams and cots but not made any purchases yet x

spttc · 06/08/2021 13:18

@Alle1991 I'm 14+5 Iv started getting a few cute bits and pieces for the baby. I'm not getting practical stuff really like vests etc. more like if I see a really gorgeous sleepsuit and hat I think would be cute I get them. But they have to really be special or I'm not bothered 😂 we Havnt told anyone really. My best friend who lives abroad only as I won't see her in person again until oct maybe. But not even our parents! We're enjoying the secret 😂😂 we're contemplating not telling anyone the gender either and have that as a secret just for us. Any girly bits I purchase I'll just hide away safely and only show people the more gender neutral bits. Who knew secrets were so fun eh 😂🙈
