Pram and car seat ordered yesterday Smile all beginning to feel a bit more real now that the big purchases have been made. 24 weeks yesterday!

thecapitalsunited · 10/10/2021 10:39

@Trinacham I got my pram ordered yesterday too! Not the car seat because despite asking DH to do some reading he quite clearly had no idea what I was talking about in the shop so we just looked at prams. We’ve gone for what we hope is a sensible functional pram but I really wanted the Uppababy Vista. It looks so nice but once the guy in the shop told us that everyone he knows with a dog ended up with a three wheeler we decided to go for the cheaper more practical Baby Jogger one. But I still kind of want the swish leather and upmarket fabrics!

Trinacham · 10/10/2021 10:56

@thecapitalsunited my DH is the same! He wouldn't do any research, said that we'd be going to have a look so why did we need to 🙄 luckily I did and went well prepared. I knew exactly which prams and car seats we were going to choose between. It was never the plan to get the car seat yesterday aswell but MIL and FIL were gifting us the pram and they insisted they'd get that too as a Christmas present for us, which was so, so generous! We feel very lucky to be getting so much help.

The baby jogger looks great! I hadn't even thought of a 3-wheeler. It is easy to spend more than you really need.. they know what they are doing trying to draw us in, when you really don't need to spend so much.

I'm feeling a bit bad, as family on both sides want to gift us stuff, and expensive bits like the pram etc. With all the second hand stuff donated, I've really very little to buy. It's generous but feeling bad them spending their money on this

BobbleWobble1 · 10/10/2021 11:08

Just catching up here. Glad everything seems to be well.

I still feel like things are dragging but I know time will fly by in Tri 3. Last week in the office this week before I WFH.

I've got all the baby stuff back to me this weekend (share with my sister and we have all boys between us) so I will be kept very busy sorting it all out! Hopefully I won't have to get too much as we still have our big items from DS.

spttc · 10/10/2021 18:16

@Trinacham & @thecapitalsunited my husband us the opposite re pram/car seat. Lol he's so so into it! He knows all the names better than me, in the shop he was asking all the questions, really hands on learning how to fold them up and down etc 😂 we've narrowed it down so hopefully we order in the next week or so 👌👌

Hi ladies.. Can I please join? I am due 18th Jan :) I was wondering if any of you first time mums have booked any online antenatal classes or hypobirthing classes? I'm not sure if I need both or could just book one and watch a few youtube videos on the other.

sociallydistained · 11/10/2021 08:26

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 I am reading a lot of hypnobirthing books and watching videos and hope that’s enough than a full course. Trying to save money but I would love to do one. Also watching lots of positive birth stories on YouTube!

I had quite a disturbed nights sleep last night tossing and turning from left to right then aware I should be on my left,.. felt like it went on all night until just alarm 🙄🙈 feeling some discomfort in my hips for the first time too. Here we go week 25!

Arriving at work today I suddenly had the urge of not being able to wait for babies appearance. It’s a bit like when you know you have a holiday coming up but you have to get through work first! at the same time I’m aware there’s not a lot of time left 😰. I have worked out dates at work this week for one of my job. I think I’ll go off the week before due date (if all is well!) so doesn’t give a lot of time although could be two weeks late and I don’t plan to be induced if I can help it!

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 11/10/2021 09:43

@sociallydistained ah thank you I might do that and see how I feel then after those I'm sure they are plenty! Is there any good books or links you would recommend?

I do that too always wake up on my back! It's so hard to get comfy! I put a pillow behind me so my back is half raised and I'm not totally flat and think that should be OK!

I'm going off mid December I have lots of annual leave saved also I technically don't go on mat leave until week before due date! It cannot come quick enough I have no interest in anything other than baby stuff lol

thecapitalsunited · 11/10/2021 09:48

Welcome @Sarahdaydreamer1234! I've booked NCT antenatal classes which start at the beginning of November. I've thought about a hypnobirthing course but I'm not sure if it will be too woo for me.

@sociallydistained I'm trying not to worry about sleeping on my left side because I've had hip pain on the left since about 21 weeks which means that I can't lie on that side for more than about 10 minutes before it feels like the nerves are on fire. I looked it up and the left side thing mostly comes from one study, only relates to the last night of pregnancy and it hasn't been replicated in any follow up studies. So as much as I'd like to follow the guidance, I figure getting some sleep is better than being in pain all night!

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 11/10/2021 09:59

@thecapitalsunited is that face to face now the NCT classes? My husband hates all like that so he would rather over zoom 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/10/2021 10:03

The bump and baby classes are face to face, and they have a free hupnobirthing class and baby first aid. I've booked in but don't start for another 5 weeks so don't know how good they'll be

thecapitalsunited · 11/10/2021 10:10

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 The first one is over Zoom because they couldn't sort out the venue in time but the rest are face to face for me. I think it differs depending on where you are in the country.

spttc · 11/10/2021 13:37

Welcome @Sarahdaydreamer1234 😁

@sociallydistained @thecapitalsunited I switch side to side. If I was always on my left I'd be in severe pain at this stage 😂 I wouldn't fret about always being on the left at all. I miss lying on my front & back so much. I had a pregnancy massage in New York last week and she had a special table with a hole for bump & then a wedge thing so I was kinda in a recline position instead of my back. Was AMAZING lying on my front, I'd almost purchase a massage table 😂😂😂

This sounds amazing!
spttc · 11/10/2021 16:53

@sociallydistained omg it was. I swear I heard a crunch when I lay on my front 🤣🤣🤣 It felt so good. I didn't want to leave. I'm actually away next week aswell to a spa and I'm getting a pregnancy massage but I bet they just prop u up with pillows without the table with the hole in it 😒🙄🙄

Candyfloss22 · 11/10/2021 21:25

I always wake up on my back no matter if I fall asleep on my left or right side, I also have a pregnancy pillow which is meant to help stop rolling on my back, I must push it put of the way whilst sleeping! I'm 24+3 and have a small bump. I work at a nursery and many parents can't believe I'm that far gone, but my build is very small.
I haven't thought about booking any classes yet most of them around my area are in the middle of the day and although I would still get paid for the time off there would be no point in me going in for work for the morning, then returning in the afternoon.

MamaDaria · 11/10/2021 22:21

I also have a hip pain from sleeping on my sides, pillows dont change much. I miss sleeping on my back so much.
The NCT courses in my area sold out when I was week 20, so now I am joining some free topics advertised on Facebook(baby academy etc.) Those lead by midwife, I found informative. There should be some nhs antenatal class 2hour over zoom. So hopefully I can feel more prepared

thecapitalsunited · 12/10/2021 14:28

I asked my midwife about side sleeping at my appointment this morning and she just not to worry too much about it just now, it matters more when baby is heavier but even then just do what you can.

I'm now booked in for my 28 week glucose tolerance test. I feel sorry for my DH because I get super hangry if I don't eat regularly (well now I do, pre-pregnancy I was doing 16/8 fasting!) and he's bound to bear the brunt of it. I'll have to bring snacks to inhale as soon as I'm allowed to!

sociallydistained · 12/10/2021 16:26

I’m 25 weeks this week and the fatigue and emotion train has hit me like a truck 😞
Sort of 14 weeks until last week I felt great to be honest. I am really struggling with work right now and I’m an emotional mess! I slept loads over the weekend and I feel like that’s what I need now but no chance of getting it… I have been in bed early getting adequate sleep for work and I am not coping. I guess I was due after a mostly blissful second trimester. It feels like those early days all over again 🙈

spttc · 12/10/2021 17:06

So weird I literally can't lie on my back comfortably at all. I feel light headed and out of breath. I'm a small frame, only told my parents who I live next door to I was pregnant at 24 weeks 😂 I guess it's just how the baby is lying maybe.

@sociallydistained that doesn't sound fun ☹️😞Hoping my blissful 2nd trimester continues a little longer 🙈😬 I'm 24+2.

sociallydistained · 12/10/2021 17:37

I’d rather I was just coming down with something than this be how it’s going to be 😬😬 I feel so fatigued and I was pretty much full of energy up until this week.

expectinglittlebear · 13/10/2021 09:05

Where is everyone feeling their kicks at the moment?

If she is really active then I will feel them around and either side of my belly button, but 90% of the time they are super low down - literally as if she was kicking my cervix. So I don't feel them from the front at all, just internally! Been having a google (as you do) and it would seem that baby is more than likely breech... so worrying a little haha. I know it is still early days, and she can move, so fingers crossed for that. I have my 25 week appointment next week, so going to ask the midwife then! Just curious where you are all feeling yours?

SouthwestSis · 13/10/2021 09:33

I just had my 25 week midwife appointment yesterday and they don't even bother checking the position of the baby yet as they are so mobile at this gestation so I wouldn't worry yourself at all for now.
Some books I've been reading have suggested that keeping active with walking and yoga, and not spending too long slouching/on sofas can be helpful for encouraging baby into more helpful positions for labour towards the end of pregnancy, but I really wouldn't worry for now @expectinglittlebear

spttc · 13/10/2021 10:39

@expectinglittlebear mine were the same until about 22 weeks. She was breech but that's nothing to worry about at this stage. They are so tiny they can still do cartwheels in there so she will toss and turn for the time being. My little one is diagonal at the moment so I feel kicks on the side. I had a scan yesterday and that's what they said. Iv had 2 scans since 20 weeks and she's flipped every time, from breach, to head down, now diagonal/sideways 😂
