Hello ladies!
@thecapitalsunited I hope your migraine passes soon! I get those sometimes and the only thing I can do it stay in bed in a completely dark room! it's so annoying (and painful...)
@Tangfastic91 I was also thinking of spicy foods! My partner had this horrible cold last week, we went out for thai food and he came back home another person! he could actually breathe... it's probably temporary, but worth giving the spicy a try :D

I am also having the weirdest symptom...the skin in my upper abdomen has gone completely numb! Like just below my bra line, and it's just a small part of skin.... it's so weird! and it's been a couple of days already... 😕

expectinglittlebear · 05/10/2021 13:40

@thecapitalsunited Migraines are tough, especially when you can;t take usual painkillers! Sleep in a dark room, no noise, and pop a cold wet flannel on your forehead. Glad to hear the check up at the hospital went well though, it is good to know they've checked over the full works, just to be on the safe side!

@EsseKey That's strange, haven't heard of that one before! Have you messaged your midwife about it? If so, what did she say?

OP posts:
EsseKey · 05/10/2021 13:54

@expectinglittlebear yeah I also haven't heard of this before!!
just googling (argh!) upper abdomen numbness, it seems to be possible in advanced pregnancy due to extreme distension of the abdomen and all tissues...but I don't think it's the case for me, I don't have a huge bump!
I haven't talked about it to my midfwife, it's not bothering me so much so I though I might just wait to tell her next week when I go to my 24wk appointment?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

thecapitalsunited · 05/10/2021 15:52

@expectinglittlebear That’s exactly what I did because I know it’s best to just surrender to it and usually it’s gone by morning. The concern was that it was still there in the morning which is unusual for my migraines so it suddenly became a headache which won’t go away. Obviously my body has decided I was in for a treat! I still have it now after another few hours asleep and a bucket of water but at least I know that I’m not in any serious danger.

sociallydistained · 07/10/2021 20:58

Hey guys, anyone’s kicks really ramping up? I’m 24 weeks today so I guess it’s the right time. Feeling bub a lot now throughout the day not just as it’s usual times.

Was reading in bed last night and the kicks were on one. I lifted my top and saw some vibrations so almost at the stage of seeing the kicks visually I guess. Exciting! Although I sometimes find them a bit annoying when I’m trying to focus on something 🙈

Tangfastic91 · 07/10/2021 21:04

@sociallydistained yes the kicks have definitely turned up a notch. I've seen a few through the skin, and finally got my husband to look at the right time to see one too.

Feeling really stretched today, which is odd because I don't have much of a bump. But it just feels like I've run out of room already.... just another 15 and a bit weeks of growing to do eeek!

Jonesy88 · 07/10/2021 21:26

I’ve also been able to see strong kicks from the outside too! DH felt a kick for the first time a couple of days ago, it feels lovely he can experience a bit of the movement.

I can’t say I’m totally at ease with the sensation of feeling the movements (don’t think I can quite make the connection that there’s an actual baby in there and it does feel wierd), however I love feeling the connection and having the reassurance if that makes sense.

SouthwestSis · 07/10/2021 21:46

Yes loads of strong kicks here too! But starting to get pelvic pain on standing up which is less enjoyable and the bump is starting to feel quite heavy to keep lugging around at work.

musicalgymball · 07/10/2021 21:51

I have been feeling kicks and it's magical, until they do it after you've eaten and won't stop and they make you feel sick!

I fell asleep with DP holding my tummy while we were watching a movie. I woke up at the end (typical!) with him still holding my tummy and he said he could feel little kicks the whole time.

It feels lovely to be able to share that experience with your partner a bit, even if this time around I didn't feel anything at all as I was asleep!

Trinacham · 07/10/2021 21:57

Getting constant kicks here. I love it 💙 I read somewhere that boys kick more.. he certainly does fidget! 24 weeks this Saturday. Seems to have a routine of when he's more active as I've learnt what times to expect it the most!

EsseKey · 08/10/2021 08:20

I am 24wk tomorrow but I was able to see tiny tiny movements already at 17-18 weeks... now it looks like an alien is about to come out any minute 😅 and definitely movements have been getting stronger by the day!
I don't know if I exactly like feeling the movements...sometimes I find them distracting while I am trying to work, but at the same time it's so lovely to know that she is in there and actually noticing her presence! it's definitely reassuring 🥰

Trinacham · 08/10/2021 08:29

Anyone planning on having a 4d scan? Smile booked one for when we'll be 29 weeks. It's one of those things we said we wouldn't bother spending our money on but of course it all changes once you're actually pregnant and just too excited not to 😄

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/10/2021 08:43

I don't know if I can see the kicks, but then I can't see under my belly button my stomach has got so large/bloated. But we have been able to feel them on the outside for the last 2-3 weeks. In fact, I think my partners bored of feeling them, he's like 'I've felt him load now' 😂 Lots of movement at night when I'm trying to sleep, or when I'm sat at my desk.

Don't reckon I'll get a 4D scan, but will def get a private one to check everything in a month or so

Tangfastic91 · 08/10/2021 08:47

@Trinacham I'll be honest, the 4d images freak me out! So we haven't booked one haha. I might have been tempted to do a private growth scan to check he wasn't 10lbs or something, but I get one on NHS for another issue so that's taken care of that 😉

EsseKey · 08/10/2021 09:03

I am intrigued by the 4d scan since the beginning of this pregnancy, although I feel I am maybe a bit less interested now than I was before 😅! where I did my private scans before they offer 4d view together with the normal scan, so I might just get to see her in 3D/4D there...I would like to have a growth scan around 28-30 wk

Trinacham · 08/10/2021 09:25

Ah, I reckon I'll need growth scans (GD seems genetic on my maternal side) and did test my blood sugar on a couple of occasions, which didn't look great. They won't test me at the hospital until 28 weeks though Confused

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/10/2021 10:00

@Trinacham yeah a lot of GD in my family also, with lots of v big babies if not induced. I've also got low Papp-A so meant to get growth scans, but NHS have said I won't get them now and will just have to go in every two weeks for an midwife check and fundal measurement instead. So I'll get two private growth scans to keep an eye on it and the placenta.

Weirdly my family are all very low bmi but mixed race, so genetically more predisposed to Gd apparently. I'm trying to keep the sweets low, but it's what I really crave atm !

Trinacham · 08/10/2021 10:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I was big and bloated as a newborn because of GD! Really hoping it isn't the case, but I am expecting it. It is hard to stay away from the sweets isn't it Sad Even have to watch which fruit I eat, which is a pain

EsseKey · 08/10/2021 10:53

@Tangfastic91 my partner is the same! He thinks 3D images of babies are gross ahahah I might just go by myself, I don't need his permission after all 😆
and he is able to see the baby in 2D every time he wants since he has an ultrasound machine at his vet practice 😂

expectinglittlebear · 08/10/2021 11:38

Feeling feeling lots of kicks here too! Husband has been able to feel them for the past 2 weeks or so. Can also now see the stronger ones from the outside too! I also felt what I think might have been hiccups the other day, very quick succession of medium-strength vibrations in one area - lasted for about 20 seconds and then stopped - everything I have googled seems to suggest hiccups, which is so cute!!

I am interested in the 4D scans, but not sure if we will or not! I think they suggest the best time is 26-30 weeks, so will reconsider at the end of the month!

Also, is anyone finding it super scary that we are only about 4 weeks away from the third trimester?! The time is absolutely flying by!!

I have started to think about Christmas stuff already.. I normally leave the present buying/shopping until early December, but I do not want the extra stress of Christmas shopping when I am 32+ weeks pregnant haha! Trying to be super prepared this year.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/10/2021 11:44

@Trinacham I'm not managing to stay away fully from sweet stuff, just trying to focus on whole grains and veg for meals. But yeah I really really love pastries and cakes atm, and dried fruit 😬 so trying to limit this.

@EsseKey so lucky to have access to an u/s machine, and pop in and see cute animals!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/10/2021 11:46

@expectinglittlebear no I feel like this pregnancy is going so slowly! Can't wait to get to 3rd trimester and baby being here.

I'm not thinking about Christmas pressies yet just cos I'll do it all in December so people can return stuff. As long as I have a 'carrier of bags' for me, I love shopping when all the lights are up etc !

spttc · 08/10/2021 13:00

Back from New York this morning ✈️ 🇺🇸 had a quick read, glad to see all is well! The trip was amazing, perfect little babymoon 🥰🥰🥰 home now we will really start prepping for the baby, get the nursery organized etc 😁 Agreed on getting organized for Christmas early, I think I'll do online shopping myself! I want a really relaxing December ☺️ Re: sweet stuff & GD.....after that trip I'm not stepping on the scale for at least a week until I de-fat 🤣

EsseKey · 09/10/2021 13:09

@spttc so glad to hear your trip to NY was good!!

For christmas I usually have a good excuse not to stress over presents and decorations since I have never spent Xmas my place since I was 18, I always go back to italy... This year it is of course different, I have parents and in laws coming here so i can already see it being lovely but stressful!!
However I have already bought my first ever christmas tree, and if I don't get any better gift ideas I will just buy everyone something baby-related, like "grandma/grandad" t shirts or mugs... Something this silly 😂😜 our baby is the first in our families so it could work ahahah
