@sociallydistained that's fantastic news! Was thinking of you today and hoping it all went well. I'm so glad you got the all clear and your little one is doing well 🥰

thecapitalsunited · 13/09/2021 19:58

@sociallydistained Glad to hear that everything seems ok.

I had my 20 week scan today. Everything looks good which was a massive relief because I was super anxious going in. Sonographer has put my next growth scan back to 32 weeks from 28 because the blood flow to the uterus looks good. I was this close to having to come back another day because baby didn’t want to get in the right position for some head measurements but it finally did right at the last moment. Sorry to the people after me for making the clinic run even more behind!

Alle1991 · 13/09/2021 20:30

@sociallydistained so pleased everything went ok today and baby got the all clear x

sociallydistained · 14/09/2021 07:11

I am allowing myself to be properly excited now ☺️

We did go to a nearly new market on Saturday and managed to get a Chico next to me cot, a bundle of newborn sleep suits and scratch mittens and a white noise sheep all for £26! So I guess we have our first items! I am looking forward to getting our pushchair but in planning to move so feel I shouldn’t get it before that!

Scottishgal85 · 14/09/2021 08:19

It's so exciting being able to finally buy some items. We went at the weekend to look at prams/cots etc and ended up buying some things. Luckily, the lady in the shop was super helpful as neither myself nor my husband had a clue what we needed Blush There is just so much to choose from!

sociallydistained · 14/09/2021 14:27

I have just been to sainsburys and couldn’t resist a few bits 🙈 got a reduced cute summary outfit in 6-9 months so here’s hoping there’s some wear from it but couldn’t resist! Not a great pic but pic I sent to DP. We don’t know gender but would happily dress either in these.

I had my 20 week scan today. Everything looking perfect. She's super active apparently so was difficult to scan 🤣🙈 chasing her around. But they said the more active the better. It's definitely great to know all is well though 👌👌👌

sociallydistained · 14/09/2021 15:45

Great to hear @spttc!

LeanneMummy2Be · 14/09/2021 16:01

Hello guys,
I am 20 weeks pregnant had a scan and everything was fine but just haven’t felt the baby move as of yet 😞Can’t wait!! Can anyone relate?

Scottishgal85 · 14/09/2021 18:49

Try not to worry @LeanneMummy2Be, I wasn't sure if I was feeling anything until about 21/ 22 weeks. It can be hard to tell if it's baby or gasBlush You'll start to feel the wee one soon enough. Your scan showed all is well, that's the main thing! Smile

Candyfloss22 · 14/09/2021 21:18

Hey everyone!
I had my 20 week scan the other day and we are having a girl! We are both incredibly happy. Baby is doing really well and is growing perfectly.
I'm not sure I have felt any movements yet, I've heard that they feel like bubbles but the only feelings I've had are like IBS but not painful!

MamaDaria · 14/09/2021 21:53

Heyo. I have had my 20 week scan. A healthy baby from the look of it Smile. Baby was in an awkward position, but most likely it is a girl. Glad others here are getting good news too 😊.

I am a bit disappointment with NCT antenatal classes, as they all sold out now near me... I knew they dissapear quickly, but didn't think that fast. Need to look at some help online. Anybody knows any good sources? I guess they will be a chance to have the NHS one online. Seen some adverts about hypnobirthing, anybody looked into it or tried it?

EsseKey · 15/09/2021 07:16

Hello everyone!
glad to hear all the good news about 20wk scans (@sociallydistained so happy to hear that eventually all measurements were ok!!), I had mine yesterday and my baby is looking good! we caught her sucking her thumb, adorable!! 💕

I wanted to have a confirmation of the sex by the sonographer, but unfortunately baby was not showing much! She couldn't see any "extra bits", so at least there is nothing to suggest baby is not a girl!
Obviously it makes no difference to me, but since last scan (at 16wk, when they said it's a girl) we started calling the baby "her", and got a few "girly" outfits as a present from friends...I guess it would be just an awkward shift in mindset thinking of the baby as a boy now!

Yesterday I also got my whooping cough vaccine and I will be having the flu vaccine in October... I don't think I will have other scans with the NHS, but definitely we are going for private ones and my partner has access to an ultrasound machine (we are both trained to use it, just not for babies :P) so we might have a peek every now and then ahah 😆

regarding movements, I feel the baby moving on a daily basis and I can see them through my belly! definitely kicks are getting stronger every day

today will be my first day in the office after a long time, there are some people that don't know yet that I am pregnant because I was waiting to tell until I knew who my replacement will be - it will be awkward with people staring at my belly wondering whether I am or I am not pregnant...I am in that phase where I am showing but not enough to congratulate without risking being rude in case I have just put on weight , if you know what I mean 😆

expectinglittlebear · 15/09/2021 10:53

Glad to hear everyone's scans went well!! & so happy to hear about your update @sociallydistained, glad to hear bubba is absolutely fine!

Is anyone else feeling the 1st trimester tiredness back again? I am 20+3 today and I can barely keep my eyes open this week! Tbh I am not sleeping great either (cant get comfortable, needing to wee and also just randomly waking too) and can't remember the last time I had a full nights sleep... I am literally sat at my desk at work right now and wishing I was in bed. Bless him DH can't seem to fathom in his head why I am so tired either... he's like, "how can you be this tired, you went to bed at like 8/9 last night?!" ... he is trying to understand, but he can't as he can literally function on 3/4 hours sleep every day haha, which makes it worse Sad

Hi,

Can i join this thread? Due Jan 28th!

Ive been feeling flutters for a while now but saw my bump properly move for the first time last night! Crazy!

Hows everyone feeling? xx

Flowers222 · 15/09/2021 16:49

@expectinglittlebear yes the tiredness is real at the moment! I'm 22+6 but for the last week I am really struggling to sleep. Just keep randomly waking up and can't go back to sleep again. Started having naps again like I did in the first trimester.

I have been feeling movement for a few weeks but can't really see my bump move and my husband hasn't been able to feel it yet. I guess my anterior placenta is cushioning it at the moment. I can't wait for the kicks to get strong enough my husband can also feel it.

@Msd2416 welcome!

Alle1991 · 15/09/2021 17:18

Welcome @Msd2416

I’ve been getting really bad headaches the past couple of days and the tiredness has returned.

I’m 21 weeks today and still only really feeling flutters. At my 20wk scan they said my placenta is at the front which is why I’m not feeling proper kicks yet. I really want them to hurry up as I think it will ease my anxiety a bit

SouthwestSis · 15/09/2021 17:24

I'm feeling some definite movements and placenta is not anterior but they are still not strong enough for my husband to feel, I'm 21+ 2 today.
Also having sleeping trouble, work at 4.30am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep which is so hard with my long work shifts!
Got my pertussis jab booked in for next week which was on today's to do list. Might treat myself to a pre-dinner nap now!

sociallydistained · 15/09/2021 17:29

Yes to the tiredness, I don’t feel as awful as first trimester but I’ve been noticing a massive need for rest at work whereas I’d usually keep going without breaks. I find walking up hill a struggle now and I’m a big Walker lol.

I was completely wiped after the stress of 20 week scan then the weekend anticipating the next scan. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief I’ve been in a good routine with doing to bed really early! I’m just trying to enjoy this for as long as I can and be strict with myself about evening routine!

Tangfastic91 · 15/09/2021 19:55

Yaaas to the second trimester tiredness! I skipped it in first trimester (got the insomnia instead) so I guess my body is making up for it. To those waking in the night, I would recommend switching an audiobook on just for something to occupy your mind. Helps put me back to sleep ha.

Kayl23 · 15/09/2021 20:03

Yep another one struggling with tiredness again here! I do get the feeling that it might be a constant thing from here on out, now that babies are growing so much!

manoa · 16/09/2021 08:57

Hello you guys...

So my scan was a little disappointing 😑. The doctor didn't do a full scan #anatomyscan because I got a full scan somewhere else at 13 weeks.
She just quickly checked the basics.
Looks healthy BUT she mentioned my cervix being relatively short which is why I should come back in 2 weeks.
Anyone else had that problem?

Hope you are all doing well!

sociallydistained · 16/09/2021 09:19

Seems a bit unfair they didn’t do the full scan when many things have changed since 13 weeks! I’m sure the thing that was flagged up at mine wouldn’t of been noticed at 13 weeks (and wasn’t at my 12 week scan). Maybe they will do a more thorough one in 2 weeks?

I don't think so. :-/ maybe I should book another scan somewhere to get baby checked out better ?
Kayl23 · 16/09/2021 09:51

@manoa That's not fair at all, could you complain to the department and request that they do a full scan?
