Thanks everyone for your advice
I worked myself up over it that I actually went to the vaccine centre today and had it done. I’m sure my anxiety will play up for the next few days until the scan on Friday

thecapitalsunited · 06/09/2021 19:02

@Alle1991 I can imagine. Mine is through the roof as it is. I keep thinking that I can’t really be pregnant and they’re going to tell me that it’s all a big mistake when I go on Tuesday.

Kayl23 · 07/09/2021 16:07

Does anyone know what the first kicks actually feel like? I've been increasingly feeling movement over the last couple of weeks (the rolling/goldfish feeling), more so the past couple of days, yesterday it felt like he was dancing all afternoon 😂 but about 10 mins ago I was in the shower and felt what I can only describe as a sharp jab from inside, where he is sitting. It wasn't painful just very sudden and sharp. Has my unborn son just given me a beating? 😂

expectinglittlebear · 07/09/2021 16:14

@Kayl23 At the beginning I was getting more like little flutters, whereas now I am getting lots of the rolling feeling, and definite jabs here and there too! That rolling feeling is an odd one isn't it 😂

Well done @Alle1991, the stats tell us this is definitely the safest option for you and your baby! Remember to stay careful for now about mixing indoors with others as your jab won't even start giving you any protection for a couple of weeks yet, and it will keep building immunity until your 2nd dose. It would be such a shame to catch covid now!

I am starting to get reasonably regular movements now but nothing strong enough yet for my husband to feel so will be exciting for us both to see baby big on screen at my scan tomorrow!

EsseKey · 07/09/2021 16:29

@Kayl23 in the last couple of days my baby's movements have intensified... Still most of the times they are just like flutters/bubbles popping, but at times I can really feel "the kick" (although not a strong one like I guess will be in a few weeks, and it only lasts a second). I can also feel it with my hand on the bump, and my mum was also lucky enough to feel one, so it's not just me!! 😍 A couple of times I have also seen it through the skin. Such a joy!

Kayl23 · 07/09/2021 16:36

@expectinglittlebear Yes so strange haha! I do love it though, isn't it nice when you start feeling them so much more 🥰

@EsseKey Ahh that's lovely! How nice for your mum to feel it! I haven't even tried feeling it through my belly yet but after reading your comment I'm sat here feeling my bump waiting for him to move haha. I really can't wait until my partner can feel it too, I think it's a shame that the partners have to wait so long to feel anything!

EsseKey · 07/09/2021 16:45

@Kayl23 yes I was lucky! Now I spend all the time with my hands on the bump hoping to feel something! I have tried catching the movement on video but she is camera shy 😂 and probably also very small movements, not sure it can be really seen in a video!
I can't wait for my partner to feel it too! I will see him again tonight after a looong holiday at my parents', I hope baby will give us a show 😂💖

Tangfastic91 · 07/09/2021 18:31

I have definite movements now! Posterior placenta which helps. Felt a couple from the outside too, and managed to get my husband to feel one. I know baby normally kicks off if I lie on my back so was able to time it just right, though DH said he wouldnt have known what he felt was a kick if I hadn't said. Although he felt something if that makes sense. Had my 20wk scan yesterday - healthy lil bub who posed for all the right measurements ❤️

spttc · 07/09/2021 18:52

@Curiousmumtobe84

Hi all I'm due 1st Jan 2022.... I'm concerned about getting the pfizer jab as there has been limited studies on its long term effects on the baby. Is anyone else feeling this way?? And what have you decided to do?
The vaccine can't affect the baby short, medium or long term as the vaccine itself doesn't reach the baby. The baby receives antibodies made by your body - it doesn't receive the vaccine 👌
spttc · 07/09/2021 18:59

Well done on getting the vaccine @Alle1991 💯

Yes Iv felt a few little movements too 🥰🥰🥰 my 20 week scan is next Tuesday can't wait!

Iv been looking at those baby rocking chair things....what are they even called.....Duno if anyone remembers in sex & the city Miranda got one for her baby 🤣 anyone know any good ones? Some are quite pricey but if you read the reviews it's quite funny...a lot of 4am purchases on there 😅🤣 I can only imagine

Trinacham · 07/09/2021 19:44

Found out today we are joining team blue! In absolute shock still as we were convinced it was a girl (mainly as everyone we know told us they thought girl, haha!). Such a wonderful surprise 💙 he's looking wonderful 😍

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2021 07:38

@Trinacham congrats!

expectinglittlebear · 08/09/2021 08:44

@EsseKey Aww that's lovely that your mum got to feel!! When I lay down in bed at night I always lay flat first to see if she moves about so I can feel her, I get a definite jab and then quickly grab my husbands hand so he can feel too and then she stops.. haven't quite been able to time it right for him to feel yet. Bless him, he is fine though knows it won't be too long before he will be able feel her!!

@Tangfastic91 That's so lovely to hear your 20 week scan went well and little one is healthy and happy! I bet you are relieved to get that milestone out of the way!

@Alle1991 Well done on getting your jab!! I have now decided to get mine too, finally feel like I have seen enough data to feel comfortable about it. I have my 20 week scan next Friday 17th so I am going to book my first one in for just after that!

@spttc Not sure of a specific one, but take a look on Online4Baby. They constantly have sales on there and have a lot of good brands on there as well as their own brand products!

@Trinacham Awww congratulations! 💙 I will update the list shortly when a few others have had their 20 week too!

Thanks @SouthwestSis @spttc @expectinglittlebear, I was starting to hear some scary reports and I know now someone that had covid and went into labour early, thankfully baby is ok now but was born with a collapsed lung 😢

How anyone had or is having their 20 week scan this week? Mines on Friday, can’t wait to see her again but always get a bit of anxiety before. Think it’s nervous/excitement! X

Exactly the same. I think we’re due the same time too aren’t we? Our babies are sticking to that schedule.

Have 20 week scan tomorrow and am both incredibly nervous and very excited. DP has the day off and he couldn’t come to 12 week scan and I know he is excited. It is after 11 so we’re going for lunch after so really hoping it’s all good so we can sit there and gush 🤞🏼 I have to go back to work after that lol.

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 08/09/2021 23:04

My 20 week scan is this Friday and we're both very excited and going to find out the sex.

Baby movements intensified this evening - definitely felt a couple of 'jabs' that made me jump and go 'ooh' out loud as they surprised me in their intensity.

expectinglittlebear · 09/09/2021 11:54

Hope it goes well for everyone having their 20 week scans this week! x

Mine isn't until next Friday 17th, so still another week to go! Feels like it is taking forever to come round, even with the private one in between!!

Unless we have to have growth scans for whatever reason, is the 20week scan the last scan before baby is here? (with NHS)

OP posts:
thecapitalsunited · 09/09/2021 14:34

I've got my scan on Monday so I'm feeling excited and anxious. The anxiety has eased a little since feeling my first proper kicks last night. But I'm due to go on holiday on Tuesday so if we do have any bad news then that will probably have to be cancelled so that's causing a lot of nerves.

@expectinglittlebear I'm pretty sure that the 20 week scan is the last one for most people. I'm getting scans at 28 and 36 weeks to monitor growth because I'm too fat for the tape to measure me properly according to my consultant.

spttc · 09/09/2021 14:42

Anyone else feeling super $hittty 🙈 I've just been in the lowest worst mood ever. Can't sleep etc, overthinking....not even about pregnancy related stuff. Iv been fine the whole time but all of a sudden I feel awful 😞

Scottishgal85 · 09/09/2021 15:35

Sorry to hear that @spttc, hope you're feeling better soon! Thanks
My sleep has been awful for the past few nights, think I have a bit of restless leg syndrome going on, has anyone else experienced this? It's like I can't get comfy or settle without constantly needing to move my legs Confused

I also get extra scans, but that's due to us having an IVF baby. I can't remember when these are though, need to remember to ask my midwife tomorrow!

sociallydistained · 09/09/2021 17:15

Hi guys we had 20 weeks scan today and unfortunately they picked up the right ventricle was measuring on the borderline of large. Not a nice thing to hear that something is of concern. Otherwise everything was measuring correct and baby was active and have some lovely pics… I have a follow up scan Monday with a specialist at a hospital not very local to me so I am anxious but have read stories on Mumsnet which have helped reassure me.

After what happened with my friend (no brain development found later) I am feeling very emotional but also trying to keep positive and am grateful everything else is fine. We have tickets to go to the Nearly new market on Saturday which I was hoping would be an exciting time still high off the scan but I do feel a bit down now and I know it’ll be hanging over me at the weekend.

spttc · 09/09/2021 18:37

Oh @sociallydistained I'm so sorry to hear that. I can't & won't pretend to know what that means exactly. Il have to look it up. It's so hard you have that wait until Monday for follow up 😞💔 I can imagine you're very worried

sociallydistained · 09/09/2021 18:40

I don’t really understand it myself but basically the fluid around that side of the brain is measuring a bit large so just over the norm. I googled it along with Mumsnet as I knew there would of been many threads here over the past and luckily I found lots of positive outcomes. Also in an nhs document I read it said 95% of cases 10-12mm in the middle of pregnancy Will have a normal outcome.

But yeah I won’t know until Monday any more and even then it seems it could just measure the same and will need to be monitored over time… so lots of worry but I am glad the sonographer was so thorough. She assured me she is not very worried but it is a must to check.

spttc · 09/09/2021 19:00

@sociallydistained well that's reassuring and like you said she's being thorough 💯 I'm sure everything will be perfect she's just double checking etc. god I don't even know the possible things that might be revealed on 20week scan 🙈🙈 mine is Tuesday. Nervous.
